Don't judge this place by its exterior -- it's a hidden gem. I'll admit, I was skeptical when we walked in. The reviews were mixed and the décor isn't flashy, but we were already committed. I'm glad we stayed. We were greeted by a genuinely friendly server who, as it turns out, is one of the owners. You can immediately tell they care about their customers and take pride in the restaurant. The menu leans more American than Italian, but the food is excellent. The hamburger was huge and cooked perfectly, the fries were hot and crispy, and the Reuben sandwiches were surprisingly tasty -- exactly what we didn't know we needed at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. My daughter ordered breakfast, and the plate was massive: eggs, hashbrowns, and biscuits and gravy, all served hot and fresh. Don't let the simple exterior or the lack of shiny décor fool you. This is a great family-run restaurant serving delicious, honest food. We'll definitely be back, and I truly hope more people give this place a chance -- they deserve to be successful. read more

Worst meal ever! Turkey unrcognizanle and looked shredded and swimming in something unrecognizable. Appetizers probably from a jar. Service was barely around. Seemed they were more interest in flipping tables than bringing refills of water and coffee. Food was bland and reminded of food served in nursing home. At 35.00 per person, imo it was 36.00 over priced. I definitely would not recommend. Would even beg and plead don't waste your time and money. Seems like they put no effort and just a money grab. Guess this place has been here forever and I've gone to get my nails done down the street for years and finally we decided to stop in. Reminds me of an old time diner atmosphere. Nice folks working there, very attentive, place was clean and they do have a varied menu including breakfast until 2:00. Both my friend and I wanted BLTs, pretty much our go to although they had lots of choices for sandwiches. She got hers not toasted and I wanted my bread toasted. Believe me I could hardly tell the difference. Lots of bacon which was good, fries were decent but the meal was average. Go for the pies. I do like going here, but I'm only reviewing the pies. I love the Hawaiian Sensation, it's a coconut cream pie with a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie on the bottom. The Raspberry Devonshire cream pie is quite incredible. Think dense cheesecake topped with 3" of raspberries. The sweet, tart raspberries match well with the Devonshire cream. The pies above are my go to pies, I've also enjoyed the triple chocolate and lemon meringue. read more

Disappointed. I know corned beef hash is sketchy at most places, but the waitress said they make thier own. Lol! Big chucks of country potatoes with a little green pepper and big slices of corned beef is not corned beef hash. Ordered soft poached, got hard. Bright spot: they gave me a discount. This place used to be phenomenal. I know that it is really difficult to keep good staff so I'm trying to keep that in mind, but I don't know what's happened. Rarely if ever is the restaurant busy anymore except for maybe on Sundays or holidays. The bakery was superb and perfect and lately the pies and even the breads don't taste the same. The last time we had the bread it was doughy and raw in the middle. The breakfasts are okay but nobody seems to know how to cook eggs properly. Every time I've ordered them they come out wrong. Decent prices though and their pancakes are good. Lunches are pretty good you can still get the combinations with the pie or soup or salad. The fries are good and I like the Tuscany chicken burger. The dinners are not worth the cost anymore. I'm quite sure that the majority of it is just heated up from frozen. I don't know how they keep such a huge menu with the lack of clientele they have. (Probably why everything is frozen.) The part that makes me the most sad is that they used to have amazing buffets for the holidays like Thanksgiving, Mother's Day and Easter. Lately the quality of even those buffets have gone incredibly downhill. For example we did the Thanksgiving buffet this year and they didn't keep things fresh. We were there later in the day but still within the reservations, and many of the offerings were dried out or burned. I understand the owners are struggling and I get that, but maybe you should focus on handful of things you can do well vs having a huge menu. read more

Hadn't been here in a very long time. Three of us came late morning for breakfast. Overall it was a good neighborhood breakfast experience. Staff were all very friendly and attentive. Place appeared clean although I would say the windows could use a cleaning; I noticed the outside windows but not so sure if the inside windows needed cleaning. We had three different breakfast entrees; chicken fried steak, griddle combo, and eggs Benedict. All were tasty although the eggs Benedict wasn't hot when it came out. Several other tables were occupied when we arrived at about 1130 but by the time we left about 1245 most tables were occupied. There is ample easy parking in the lot including an extension of the lot to the south of the restaurant. read more

Well, Saturday was the last time I will eat at Tuscany. Too bad, it was a good place to go for several years but they have finally driven it into the ground. It was always "homey", stated otherwise, a little dirty and sticky and in dire need of a remodel. But, the nice wait staff and the okay food made up for the environment. In the past couple of months there has been quite a change; the wait staff can no longer cover for the bad food. They made one set of over medium eggs with lace on the edges and cooked almost over hard. The second set was less lacey but still cooked way past over medium. They served diet Pepsi that had almost no syrup so it looked like weak tea. Apparently, they do not even pretend to care anymore. The final straw was when the wait staff demanded the plates rather than asking for them. I need to say goodbye here because we will never return to your restaurant. read more

9/18/2022: I write this review from the perspective of the roaches found in the restaurant: I was eating my breakfast this morning when this man and woman walked in. I can't believe they allow humans to eat here. Me and my family have been documented as being here since 2020 and even photographed in some of our favorite dishes like omelets but to have humans interrupting my food is too much. I can't recommend this place to my fellow roach family. We should go elsewhere. Humans should too. When you walk in and roaches are on the seat staring at you BEFORE you even sit down, do not sit down. Go elsewhere. read more

I took my Mom to brunch this morning and everything about our experience with Tuscany was excellent. I had a Belgian waffle and Mom had a Denver omelette, we also purchased cinnamon rolls and a cookie to go. Everything was fresh and served with a smile, & the restaurant was spacious and clean. I want to make a point of each of those things because previous reviews allude to a small dining room and not the best conditions. My friends and I tried this place after we went walking along the trails in Normandy park. When we first got there, it took them about 15 min to seat us;m, granted they did probably wait like 5 min for me to get my card out of my car. Once I got back in, we waited probably 10 min. So in total 15. We got seated in like a very back room and it took them about 15 min to take our order. We waited patiently but kind of felt neglected because we saw people walk by and see us but no one came to us until 15 min after we sat. After that we waited about another 15 min for food and when our food got to us it was cold :( I was a little sad that it was cold but it was good. Our poor waiter looked so overwhelmed and I felt sympathy for her because they looked kind of short staffed. read more

Not what it used to be... not terrible, just a little dirty & tired. This used to be one of the best breakfast/brunch places in town, a legit 5-star, but sadly the current owners don't seem to share the same passion for quality, cleanliness and service as the previous couple. Yes, I should have been able to figure that out from earlier reviews, but I'm a little stubborn and there really aren't a lot of breakfast options close by, so for old-times sake, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Fortunately, my food was good. I opted for the Des Moines Creek omelette, with Swiss cheese, crispy hash browns and a biscuit. All very good. My bride went with the eggs Benedict and breakfast potatoes. She wasn't thrilled with her choice. The potatoes lacked any flavor, other than salt and onions. We asked to be seated on the patio to take advantage of the beautiful weather. The hostess and sever seemed to be a bit put off by our request, but acquiesced and showed us out there. Once we got past that little moment of awkwardness the service was fine. Wish I could recommend "Tuscany" at Des Moines Creek (I'll always call it simply Des Moines Creek), but based on this morning's experience, can't do it. read more

1. The food is really hit or miss. They managed to burn the muffins in my eggs benedict last time and then still served it to me, talk about being lazy and careless. 2. They enforce the unconstitutional vaccine card mandate apparently, but they still let me sit there and order takeout and wait for it? Dummmmmmb, dumb, dumb, dumb. 3. Rude older waitress seems to not know the words "please," or "thank you." This is pretty common place for the idiots of king county, though, and not unique to this restaurant. I keep forgetting that having good manners is racist! On the bright side I made eggs benedict for my first time this morning, and I did a better job than they can XD read more

Our food was hit and miss. My friend and I saw a rat run through the restaraunt. We brought up that we saw a rat run across the floor to a staff member and they did not even react to it. We were disappointed that they did not apologize or even acknowledge what we just said. We are not going to eat here again. read more

Very BAD customer service. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Came here to have a nice Mother's Day brunch today. We were sat in a nice spot, and our drink order was taken about 10 mins later. We were served our drinks minutes after that. We then waited for 30 mins to have them take our food order. We saw many people get sat at tables and those people (again, seated after us) had their orders taken while we were still waiting. I finally got up and asked another server we can get someone to take our order and she said "sure." We waited another 10 minutes and no one came. Someone came to refill our drinks and told them that we were waiting to have our order taken. Again, she left and we waited minutes and still no one came. So we decided to leave. It was disappointing to have our Mother's Day celebration ruined by lack of service. BTW, we had my wife's 81 year old grandma with us too. :( read more

Hometown cafe feel, classic American-eats, friendly laid-back service. Good for laid-back meals. Kid friendly. Come to Tuscany if you crave classic comfort food. The venue must have been s house at one point, and was converted to accommodate about 20 ish tables. The decor and furniture is worn and dated, but comfortable. The parking lot is a little awkward and small- but at least there are alternative options within walking distance. My son and I came here for breakfast about 10am on a Saturday. We were greeted and sat right away as the restaurant was only about half full. The hostess wasn't super out going or friendly- but she brought me drip coffee right away- so I was happy. We were finally greeted and orders taken about 7 minutes after we sat. I guess by putting our menus down- it indicated to our server we were ready. We were in no hurry- so i didn't feel the need to get someone's attention. I did take a mental note that this is not the place to come if you are in a hurry. I finished my first cup of coffee a few minutes after we ordered- and it took about 5 minutes for someone to come and refill it. Our food was delivered in about 10-12 minutes. i had a vegetable omelette with hash browns and my son had the pancakes. Both dishes were exactly what you should expect from a local hometown cafe/greasy spoon. Larger portions and decent taste. My only suggestion would be to make the hash browns crispier....but maybe that's personal preference. Our server, Angela, stopped by several times to ensure we liked our meal and even engaged in great conversation with my son. She really made our experience great. read more

If this review were on service alone I would give it four stars, but that said most of the review is about the food and unfortunately that rated only two stars. In looking at pictures of their eggs benedict from a couple of years ago, there is a viable difference in the size of the eggs. I don't know what the heck happened today as this was the first time I've stopped here for the eggs benedict. I did find out that they don't make their hollandaise from scratch, rather they use a Knorr mix but I appreciated the honesty. Unfortunate is the lack of pictures on my part. I have never done a review without but I was so taken aback by what was in front of me both times, that I just focused on my plate and not taking pictures. The first plate arrived with two eggs that were so small, almost all yolk and no white, and to make matters worse, one was completely flattened which looked like the egg kid almost disappeared. How that got out of the kitchen I have no idea. I also noticed that the english muffin looked like it touched the toaster for all of 15 seconds. While I understand the point is to be able to sop up the runny yolk and the hollandaise, I would have at least liked it toasted. I asked my waitperson to do the whole thing over again and when the second plate came, I didn't have a flattened egg but still I had to stare at was for me. They looked like pullet eggs. I've never seen anything like it in my life because the egg actually fit half of the muffin. I don't know how to figure it. I've done reviews in the past 3 weeks of five places with eggs benedict and never my run into this. I just really have no words read more

I wish I didn't have to give them a 1 star , maybe deserve only 1/2 . Stopped in for breakfast on Sunday morning , waitresses where commenting on how slow the place was , placed our order for bfast , everyone else in the restaurant (all 6 tables ) had food in front of them and were eating even people coming in after us had food in front of them . After 30 minutes I see our waitress going to the computer ( what I assume she forgot to put our order in ) we asked when we were gonna get our food , she said "it's coming" we finally got up and left without our meal. Had she just acknowledged she forgot , that would have been fine but she blamed it on the kitchen . Not ok on such a slow day !! read more

I came in, was seated quickly, given a choice where to sit, moved by the waitress because it was windy by the fire place and didn't even have to ask someone because they noticed it was starting to get windy, provided my tea quickly, assisted with menu options, nicely done meal with no time at all, asked me to refill my hot water, and even shared a little bit about the area. Worst meal I've had this decade I hate writing really bad reviews. The food industry is hard and I believe people mean well. However, sometimes places need to change and people need to be aware of a truly bad establishment. Tusacany @ Des Moines Creek is just that, a place not to eat at. The building is nice, it feels homey like that 70's rambler that someone's grandmother lives in. The interior is worn chic, a place that has seen decades. I'm o.k. with that as well. I'm also o.k. with a menu that's been overloaded over years of favorites from every decade. What I'm not o.k. with is old food, frozen food, things reheated in the microwave. And to be honest there's a level of plating that's usually termed "slopping" and that doesn't add to the quality. Specifics: My wife and I started with the Pan Fried Oysters. What was presented was this mass of peeling fried on top of a pile of badly cooked oysters. What was worse was the whole mess reeked of old fish. I don't know why I even put a bite in my mouth but I did. I'm grateful to this day that it came back out (into my napkin). The waitress didn't seem surprised to take it off our bill. I also wonder why we didn't bail then. But we stayed for poorly washed lettuce (dirty), followed by "home baked bread", a pumpernickel loaf that long ago was home baked but then frozen. Once reheated (I hope to god it was only once but I'm afraid it might not be) the "skin" peeled away from the loaf like a band-aid. The interior had that flat nature that only reheated bread can get. My wife had a a Greek Salad which had this pressed shaped ground meat stuff that I think was supposed to by gyro meat. I can only compare it in flavor to some of the early meat substitutes of the 70s. Finally, I read a review where someone recommended the pies. I did try a slice, it was edible if sloppily made (lopsided) and nowhere near the quality of a Shari's pie. In summary, avoid this place. read more
