Decided to hang out here today…read more New menu items for spring. I got the usual everything bagel w/bacon, egg and cheese but decided to try one of the new spring lattes. Amber Latte('espresso+salted honey & vanilla syrup. It was kind of strong and not really as I thought it would be. But of course my breakfast sandwich was to my liking.

I feel like not every sandwich shop or bakery gets a BLT right but ovenbird does. Maybe it's the mayo, maybe it's Maybelline. This cute little bakery has so much more to offer, including the fresh baked bread, many other types of sandwiches, coffee, and the lot. Not lots of seating inside, but in the summer, they have four or five tables out. Good place to chat with friends.

I placed a catering/pickup order at 8:30 AM for my friend's birthday, with a scheduled pickup time of 12:30 PM. When I arrived to pick up the order, I was told that everything I had ordered was sold out. The frustrating part was that I was never notified ahead of time, so I had no opportunity to make another selection before arriving. Since my friend doesn't eat chicken, I had to find another seafood option on the spot. Once I found something that would work, I had to pay an additional $15 and then wait another 20 minutes for the new order. I normally go to the Locust Point location and have never really had issues there, so I don't want this experience to give the impression that I think Ekiben is bad overall. This was genuinely just one bad experience. The food itself is still AMAZING. I'm obsessed with the Tacklebox, the tempura broccoli is , and the chili noodles are an absolute SMASH. I'll definitely still be back because I genuinely love Ekiben -- I just hope there's better communication when an item from a scheduled order is no longer available.

I also love their pickle bar. As with everything in Harbor Point these days, the lunch crowd is really strong with back to work for T Row price. That said I still really like the food items here at the deli. I just wish it was a little bit friendlier in terms of service, but I will definitely still be going back for that wrap.

Now as nice as both of those things were, the food was not worth the circling back. The wrap was sloppily made, with my sauces running through the paper, and my fries weren't fully cooked. I wish I could say it was better but honestly, there was a lot of pictures and promo surrounding their cheesesteaks and/or their crab cake platters and I didn't get either of those, so... maybe next time.

We really didn't mind since we hadn't caught up with each other in a long time, so appreciated not being rushed out of there. We also were in a back corner, so may not have been the most noticeable. Everyone was really friendly who worked there. Loved the open kitchen concept where you could watch them making all the donuts and croissants.
