I stopped into the new Twelvemonth Bakehouse on the way to the office this morning. What a pleasant bakery! The freshly baked goods off a nice scent when you walked in. I ordered a number of items to share at the office. The Parker house rolls were fresh out of the oven so those were automatically a favorite. The twice baked croissants were also delicious. My favorite was the corn pudding danish. The person at the counter was very nice and even though the register was a little quirky, I'm looking forward to stopping by here for nice baked goods as part of my morning rotation. read more

Girls night at Twelvemonth was nice. Large outdoor space with a good ambiance. Wish the floor was cement or take grass vs sand/dirt though. Would've been cleaner for the dog. The restaurant was huge. Menu was decent with all plant based food. Cocktails were expensive and weak. Service was decent though our server kept upselling us and telling us its not enough, which ended with us over ordering. What a sales guy. The not paella was like rice crisp on top of vegetables. Monkey bread with the furikake butter was decent, corn bread was in the shape if corn - delicious and cute. Beets salad with sesame was our fav of the night. Pastas were alright. $65/person. Strange that restaurants now defaults to 20% tip as the start. read more

Twelvemonth is a beautiful space that offers plant based foods. I loved the concept and the environment. It's a large room with amazing cocktail selection and local foods. The Parker house rolls are delicious and worth the grab. The meatballs are also delicious and have Black Sheep 'lamb' meat which was unique. Also tried the green strawberries and a salad that was unique and colorful. The only thing I would want to see more are protein options in the entrée dishes. They are mostly vegetables which is fine but it seems unbalanced without a protein option that can certainly be plant-based. I would love to see more options for this. Service was great! I would give the food 3 stars, but because of the ambiance I give the place 4 stars. The drinks were great. We ordered some appetizers and mains to share. Some of the food was over cooked. We mentioned it to the server and he said there was a new chef. My friends had been here before and stated that it was not consistent. Where to start? Have heard good things about this restaurant, especially from my vegan daughter, who had been here several times in the past. So, we (not vegan, but appreciative of good food) were looking forward to trying Twelvemonth. Positives: lovely ambiance and decor, very open and bright space, and not at all noisy. Service was also friendly and prompt. On the other hand ... right away, my daughter and her fiance noticed what they called a dramatic increase in prices since their last visit (~6 months ago?). My husband and I opted for beers to drink ($11, already high for a glass of beer) over wine that ranged from $17-21 a glass. Our orders consisted of two pastas, an entree and a full size salad. The salad was the only item of any substance. The entree my husband ordered, the Farmer's PIe, was delicious but basically appetizer size ($30); the campanelle was reportedly good, but a moderate portion for $32, and my gnocchi order was small and surprisingly bland for $30. Fortunately, the salad my daughter ordered and wasn't hungry enough to finish, gave the rest of us something more to satisfy our appetites. We did order bread -- $4 for 4 half slices -- which was good, but not nearly adequate or a highlight. As this was our first visit, we had no comparison for size, but both my daughter and her fiance reported that portion sizes were bigger in the past. I recognize that Twelvemonth likely uses top grade ingredients, but let's be honest, there's no expensive meat, chicken or fish here. High prices, decreased portions and -- at least in my case -- an unremarkable dish, left us all disappointed. read more

We've eaten here several times and had superb meals. The service is exceptional and the ambiance is above and beyond gorgeous. I love eating in the main dining room and at the bar. Don't miss the immaculately designed bathroom. I'm excited to come back on a warm day to enjoy a mocktail outside - perfect people watching on the fabulous patio. My favorite item on the menu is Bean Stew and the Radish Cake. We make the drive down on weekend mornings for utterly mouthwatering pastries from their bake shop. Highly recommend this place. Loved the whole experience of dining, the ambiance, the service. Incredible food, delicious bites throughout. It's a must visit vegan place. It is miss toward expensive end, but it is totally worth the experience. The food we tried, 1. Not Paella- Must try 5/5. the charred rice on top is covering the delicious sauce and the fresh sautéd vegetables. 2. Crispy Mitake Mushrooms- 5/5 - Must try dish. So crunchy and tasty. Have to experience it. 3. Salad itself was fine. But the sauce was something tried for first time, which was good. 4. The toffee pudding was okay: 4/5 but soft serve saved the day and gave that perfect ending to our full course meal. Highly recommend checking this place and their Mitake Mushroom and the Not Paella. The interior of this place alone is worth the visit lol Everything on the menu was good especially the Crispy mushrooms. Make sure you order two of those. The only reason it is missing one more star is the the dessert wasnt all that great. But when we asked for henny a coke (which we saw was infront of us ). We were told that they didn't have it. Wonderful baked good such as danishes, croissants, focaccia, and cookies. The flavors are creative and not too sweet. The danishes and croissants have a nice flaky texture. The prices are reasonable for a high quality bakery in the Bay Area. The interior design of the shop is stunning. The staff was very helpful, patient, and kind. They stand out even more because everything is vegan (no eggs, no dairy, no honey). But you can never tell because there is no compromise on flavors or textures. Beautiful is the main descriptor for this restaurant experience. Beautiful ambiance at this restaurant/bar - loved the olive trees! The outdoor patio is really spectacular- comfy, lots of seating options, dog friendly. Interiors are also beautiful including the restrooms! Reminded me of hip restaurants we would visit in SoCal but now available near us! Great space overall! Food is beautifully presented - flowers sprinkled throughout different dishes for that extra attention to detail that pleases our eye and palate! We ordered most of the dishes from the menu and were pretty impressed. We enjoyed the beet salad and seasonal corn pasta the most. Drinks were also beautifully presented, with thoughtfully finishing touches from margarita rims to mocktail decorations. Service is where I docked a star. It started with the forgetful/distracted hostess, who kept forgetting to seat us. We checked in first at opening (with reservation) but the hostess kept seating guests ahead of us for 10min while we awkwardly stood there and watched. It was very strange. We would have chalked it up to inexperienced staffing but the strange service behaviors continued throughout the meal. After we were finally seated and part way through our meal, the waiter removed our patio umbrella because another later seated table asked for our umbrella to moved to their table. The umbrella nearly hit me on the head, within inch of my head, and he just told me to be careful...um, I'm just sitting here minding my own business, not sure how I was supposed to be more careful... it was also annoying since we selected the table because it was the only table covered from the sun by the umbrella, but once he moved the umbrella to the later seated table, we had to sit in blazing heat. We had to ask them for another umbrella, which they brought immediately, but it was a turn off to nearly be head butted by a giant umbrella then have to ask for something again we had intentionally requested already (shaded outside table)... just seemed a bit disorganized. But the biggest kicker on docking the star is overhearing their someone on their staff lecture their team "we're here to make money, we're not here to be make people happy".... Nothing wrong with good old focused capitalism but I thought it was really unprofessional to have that conversation by the hostess stand within earshot of diners. Overall the staff seemed to be working really hard to provide great service and deserve a kinder hand who recognizes making both customers and employees happy means long term loyalty (and money!) overall. We do plan to return because of the ambiance, food quality and location but did have some memorably questionable exposure during this visit that made it less than 5 stars. read more

I've now eaten at both the dining room and bar area and both were great experiences. Twelvemonth is a great addition to the area for more upscale options when you want to go out for a nice date night with ambiance. They have a completely vegan concept and eating the food I really didn't miss the meat. What I appreciated most was the chef's attention to detail and commitment to changing the menu based on the seasons. There are your standard pasta options as well as more adventurous dishes like their play on Chinese radish cake (this dish I think was more of an acquired taste as I liked it but my husband didn't). Aside from the food, their cocktails are very good and I think worth the hefty price tag that comes with it (~$15 pre tax and tip). If you don't like the cocktail selection, they're happy to swap the alcohol for you in existing drinks (Ex. I swapped a tequila drink for vodka) or even make a custom cocktail for you. Service for this caliber of restaurant could be better but they did only open a few months ago so I'm guessing they're still working out some kinks. I feel terrible writing this review. I had reservations at 5 which I ended up cancelling because I came early to sit on the patio to have a drink and try their bar bites. My partner and I ordered two drinks and two appetizers and had to order from/ask for help from 3 or 4 different people. It's also not very clear where to sit other than an A-frame that says 'this way' and the bartender looked at us like we were crazy for coming inside. Your hours state all day... and no host stand existed at 4 PM from what we could tell. It was put out closer to 5. As pretty as the food was... it was not great. They covered the totchos in red onion and a green onion sauce that was so intense I couldn't eat it. There was no "cheese" or a sauce that wasn't completely made of raw ingredients? The fried mushrooms (which are also on their dinner menu so I was excited to try ahead of time) was way too spicy and overwhelming. Idk what the red sprinkle was but it was not necessary and the batter was underwhelming. They could have seasoned the batter with that instead of sprinkling it everywhere... Our drinks were sad as well . We had their margarita and aperol spritz and it was just filled with sweet and sour and bitters :/ I would have tried to get a new drink but the service was not there and not worth waiting another hour. Sorry vegan friends! I really wanted to like you but make your space smaller or offer other options that are worth the wait. I'd be willing to try again because the patio space is super cute but get more than one server on your patio and tweak your menu. read more

for ambiance & service it gets 5 stars, the food brings it down to 4 stats for me. a lot of people eat vegan for health reasons & this plave pretty much excludes them with their menu offerings. almost everything is fried or has high saturated fat cheeses with coconut or processed fake meats. i want to love and regularly pagronize this restaurant but as someone who eats low fat vegan for health reasons i find it really hard to dine here. a nice buddha bowl or coconut oil free main dish would be a welcome addition to the menu! i got the cabbage salad and it was drenched in dressing. once i got a pasta fagioli or minestrone type soup and it was amazing. just wish there were more seasonal just olive oil based dishes and i'd be there more often! read more

Bar review only: this place sets a high bar for an upscale cocktail and dining experience in the area. I tried four cocktails, ordered from favorite to least favorite: 1. Pear Pressure 2. Deep Roots 3. Sweet Heat 4. Passion Project (this one was not very good) Was only able to order a few starters which were all amazing. The fried mushrooms were addictive and I had to stop myself from trying to eat it all myself! Will definitely come back to try their main menu. The staff was also amazing. The food here was amazing. We started with beets and mushrooms starter. The mushroom is definitely hands down the best and most rich in flavor. Then we did a pasta and curry. The curry was okay but the pasta had more flavor and kick to it with the pesto. The service was nice and quick with very nice food presentation. Just came back from a book club lunch with the ladies and every time I walk into the Twelvemonth space, I am floored. The owners and team did an incredible job with the entire space, putting so much thought in design, ambiance and sustainability. We all ordered craft cocktails that were as gorgeous as they were delicious - meticulously prepared, high quality, fresh, balanced and refreshing. I had to slow down my sips and remember I had pick up to go to afterward. Finally the food, we were fortunate enough to eat some star favorites as well as taste samples from the new menu! The Bean Stew is a classic favorite of mine, the Autumn Chop Salad was licked clean, the new Truffle Ravioli was basically our dessert until I came across the Lumpia Shanghai that took me back to my childhood! Is it just me or did their fermented sweet chili sauce taste like the banana ketchup of my youth?? Anyway, service was great and the owner, Bob, made a point to come by. Review is for their Bakehouse. I'm not vegan, but I have been strictly dairy-free for about 25 years. I've gone way too long not enjoying a pastry with my coffee, passing Cinnabons, where their freshly baked rolls waft in the air. I don't go out to breakfast/ brunch because a lot them aren't dairy allergy friendly. No longer do I suffer in dairy-free agony! I thankfully live nearby and I look forward every Friday morning when my fiance grabs a box of a half a dozen pastries and he lets me take a bite into each one without any judgement cause I went far to long not having any. Even he says that the pastries are amazing! Standouts that I always get are their cinnamon rolls that have a hint of orange to them, and their almond croissants. They're both so HEAVENLY. Honestly, you really can't go wrong with majority of their selections and they change their items throughout the month. Parking is on California drive so parking can be difficult. Their only opened, Thursday through Sat which is honestly better so you won't over indulge by going everyday. I really want to give a huge thanks to the team at Twelvemonth Bakehouse. If you're a vegan, this is the restaurant for you. Every dish is vegan so don't have to sort through the menu. If I could eat food like this everyday, being vegan wouldn't be difficult. Great decor inside and out and service was excellent. It felt like a high end restaurant. Ambiance and price. just be ready for high-end pricey but good vegan fare. We Ordered: JAPANESE CURRY - creamy with perfect rice texture TAGLIATELLE - pasta was al dente and tomato sauce was balanced PAELLA - was ok. Really odd experience. We went for lunch on a weekend on a whim. There were tons of reservations on OpenTable and I called to confirm there would be a table when we arrived with our party of four in five minutes. I was told to come right in - no need to put my name down. When we got there, we were told we needed to wait (no amount of time specified). The reason was that, despite having an empty restaurant and tons of staff standing around, the sections weren't fully staffed. We said we'd come back a different time - we had our young kids who were hungry - and, after confirming with a manager, they sat us. The service was uneven but not for the reasons I'd expected given the hostess's explanation. We had at least three servers come to our table, who were not coordinating with each other. We ordered a glass of wine that arrived after the entrees because "the bar was backed up." Food was fine but portions extremely small and expensive for both quality and quantity - we left hungry but were eager to leave. A lot of the menu included faux meats rather than truly creative vegetarian options. The banquet was dirty which detracted from the beauty of the restaurant. I was really excited to have a vegetarian restaurant in Burlingame but this is a miss. read more
