Twenty Tap is my spot, man. Super friendly staff, headed up by a local husband and wife team that makes the whole place feel warm. There is not one bad thing on the menu, and they always have a great tap list. The bottle list sometimes has a whale or two lurking as well. It's a tiny place, but they cram in bar seating, dining room and patio space as well. Can't get enough, I eat here at least once a week. Favorite dish right now is the shrimp and grits, Brussel sprouts app and you can never go wrong with those cheese curds. read more

I had shrimp and grits--delicious! My friends had fish tacos and brisket. Also excellent. Inventive menu with thoughtful ingredients. Great selection of beers and the waitstaff was very knowledgeable. I had the server recommend a 3 beer flight and he made great choices for me. The basement-brewed beer was also excellent. They were also very patient with our group (probably helped that it was a Tuesday night and not a busy Saturday) as we were yakking it up. The fried cheese curds were...fried cheese curds. I've had fresh cheese curds in Wisconsin, and it's really not the same thing. But we had no trouble finishing them, that's for sure! read more

I was really disappointed in the quality of the buns used for the 9$ burgers. Sometimes it is the little things, like using quality buns for what could have been a good burger. If I am not mistaken, I think they used pre frozen patties as well. Boo! The atmosphere was nice and the Oatmeal stout on tap was yummy. Wait staff was friendly. First off, the cheese curds with the chimchurri aoli sauce are so good. If you enjoy a party in your mouth, you'll be happy. they have all kinds of different beer and the have pear cider, a personal favorite of mine, so I was a happy girl. I ate the French Breakfast burger, and it was good. I've had better and I've had worse, but all of their food options were interesting, and the seemed to have a decent selection of vegetarian options. I thought I was entering a place that was more about beer than food. I was WRONG! The starter, Fried Cheese Curds with the aiolis was a great new take on fried cheese sticks. A little greasy but come on.... it's fried cheese after all. If you love fried cheese you gotta try this! The burger I had was excellent. Flavorful, juicy and nice and thick. I got the Italian and loved that they used Arugula for garnish and not a torn piece of Romaine or Iceburg. Definitely added just the right touch. My friend ordered The Wrath burger which was not as good as mine. His was rather dry and bland despite the cheese, mushrooms and onions. Although a small dining area, it didin't feel like the diners and tables were packed in. The wait staff was excellent. I never once saw a server not constantly looking around keeping an eye on their tables. Friendly, casual and attentive service. That's not too common. I literally come here weekly and when I was single sometimes daily. The bartenders always know your name, they're friendly but not coddling. Edit- So I tried it again with my friends the other day. I ordered a burger and fries with 2 sides of dipping sauce. The sauce was still frozen solid in the middle while being warm on the outside ( didn't thaw properly) and the burger was so overloaded with extra toppings that the bun became a soggy mess. It was so wet that it stuck to the plate and disintegrated when I tried to lift my burger to eat it. It looked like the Berlin Wall being torn down with just soggy chunks just falling all over the place. Now I don't like to complain (okay maybe I do) but shouldn't the bun be able to support the burger? And if that wasn't bad enough the actual burger was so over powered with competing flavors that it just made it inedible. Another 11.50 wasted. I am not seeing why people rave about this place. The food is "meh" and the prices aren't cheap. I've tried this location twice now and both times my meal has been flavorless and lacking ingredients that are crucial to the dish. Case in point today I ordered the Cuban sandwich. It had no mustard, pulled pork that was devoid of any flavor, and barely any ham or cheese. I guess if you order enough drinks ( of which they do have a great selection) you'll eventually get to the point where you don't notice that the food isn't very good. 'Twenty Tap' makes local beer the obvious draw. Three Floyds, Peoples, New Albanian, Sun King, Bloomington, Bluegrass, Founders, Flat 12, Upland, Fountain Square and more are represented here. Owner Kevin Matalucci must be very well connected to offer Zombie Dust (even briefly) on tap. I've used the flight (3 six ounce beers for $6) to maximize sampling and have thoroughly enjoyed the process. I've also enjoyed the Tuesday special on pints. The brew brought me in and the food ensures my return. I'm not a vegetarian but I tend to favor vegie selections when they are well represented. I had the Bahn Mi smoked tofu on my first visit and it was one of the best sandwiches I have had. I had the side salad which was incredible as well. On my next visit I had the Smoked Mushroom Rueben on rye and it was great. I selected the 3 bean salad and it was very good. I went with the vegie burger on my next visit. I thoroughly enjoyed it as well. I've returned three more times and I am rotating through the three vegie offerings and still prefer the Bahn Mi, then the Mushroom Reuben followed by the vegie burger. I talked with the bar tender co-owner and understand that they will ad more vegie slections in the future. Service has consistently improved over the month or so that I have been supporting this establishment. Everyone has been pleasant and interested in making it a positive experience. This place is rockin. Great beer selection and great sandwiches. I've tried a bunch of different beers here and have always been happy with the selection on tap. Since moving to Indy 9 months ago, I have been here more than any other beer bar in town because the beers and chill vibe are just that good. The only thing I would change is the weird setup of the bar. In order to get to the bar area you have to bypass a dart board. Just don't think this is a smart idea. Besides the obvious hazards of a sharp object to the eye, it takes up a lot of space in the bar area where there could be tables for people to sit down and have a couple beers. Instead, I would suggest nixing the dart board and putting some pub tables in that front area by the window. Additionally, after the dinner crowd leaves, the dining room is useless and could really be utilized for more seating. There have been a couple times that I stopped by for a beer only to find that i had to stand awkwardly in the middle of the room (dodging the darts!) without a place to put my coat or beer down. Thus, I had one beer and left instead of staying for a couple beers and a snack. One final request: add a few more interesting snack items besides fries and curds (which are awesome)! read more

I'm so happy this place is here. Great beer and a great environment. I've come here for beers with friends and for dinner and loved it every time. You should know that its a very relaxed atmosphere, and I don't think the waiters work here because their dream job was waiting tables. Will the service be a bit slow, yes. Will they see your empty water glass and assume you want more, probably not. But will they be very friendly and knowledgeable about the beer? yes. The last time I went, we got the pickle chips which were great but maybe a bit too much food for 2 people and the vegan bahn mi which was great. I could only eat half (too many fried pickles) but I took the other half home and at it for lunch the next day and it was even better! You sit close to the other patrons, but I like the small pub feeling of that so it wasn't an issue. read more

Hands down best burgers in Indy, and would stand up to challenges anywhere. Fries crispy but light on inside - in the top 3 in Indy. Beer list is awesome and changes almost daily. No mass beer producers here. The beer list also provides the style and alcohol content, but not the IBU. Tasters are no problem though. Very small, limited seating, plan on waiting if you get there after 530 pm. Wait staff/bartenders know their beer. Muffuletta is one of better ones in Indy. This is our neighborhood local and we love it. Best fries AND cheese curds ever. I also am a big fan of their side salad with fennel and parmesan and their vegan bahm mi. The restaurant can get busy on Fridays and Saturdays but as long as you go in early and have a drink in the bar you get sorted out pretty quickly. SO-SO IN SOBRO Small cozy place with far more than 20 taps. Sizable beer selection, but don't bring a big thirst unless you bring a big wallet. The place is kind of pricey, especially for SoBro (not your highest rent district). Maybe we were there at shift change, but the staff outnumbered the customers... and they were more concerned with talking among themselves than mixing it up with or waiting on customers. We had heard the place WOW us. They did, but not necessarily in a good way. However, we've agreed to give them another try sometime. Everybody deserves a second chance, right? read more
