Every now and then you find a place that reminds you restaurants don't have to reinvent the wheel. They just have to make good food, treat people well, and give you a place where you actually want to hang out for a while. That's Hops n Drops. It's got an easygoing atmosphere where you can unwind without someone trying to convince you your burger is an "artisan culinary journey." It's just comfortable. The service has always been friendly, and more importantly, the food has been consistently excellent. I've worked my way through quite a bit of the menu over the years--fish tacos, sliders, burgers, burritos--and every meal has felt like it was made by people who actually give a damn. The kind of folks who want you to leave saying, "Yep... I'd come back." The layout is great too. Plenty of room, comfortable seating, and it just has that relaxed neighborhood feel where you can enjoy good conversation without shouting over the music. In a world where everything seems to be trying way too hard, Hops n Drops just quietly does what it does really well. Sometimes that's exactly what you're looking for. 10/10. Tonight was my first experience at Hops n Drops. There were pros and cons to my meal, but I still want to go back and try other items on the menu. I love a restaurant that has a wide variety of things to choose from. Some standard classics and other more creative creations. We started off with the tempura zucchini, which was amazing. This had to be the best restaurant fried zucchini I have ever had. The tempura batter was light and crispy and the pieces of zucchini was nice and thiccc (with 3 c's). The size of them allowed the zucchini to be cooked but not mushy. Dipped in ranch, is a great choice for appetizer. I also want to add that I had a huckleberry lemonade. The lemonade are flavored with real fruit and it was delicious. Now I need to mention the negative part of the meal. I love fish. Seafood is one of my favorite things so I opted to try their cod and chips. I often try fish and chips in various restaurants to see who serves the best ones. Unfortunately, the fish and chips here were lacking. Presentation was amazing. The plate hit the table and the pieces of fish looked nice and big. But, as I bit into the first piece of Cod, I realized it was mostly breading. The batter was thick and some bites were fishless. As I broke into all of the pieces, I noticed that the fish to breading ratio was off in every piece. I'm a sucker for a nice flaky piece of fish with a light batter. This was not that. The manager visited the table after he was told of my displeasure and he was really nice and understanding. They made corrections to our Bill and I appreciate their accommodations. He also offered me additional items, but I was full on fried zucchini. Lol. So he gave me my huckleberry lemonade on the house. Although we had a slight hiccup in our order, overall the experience was good and I want to go back and try more. The Smashburger was a basic classic and their house. Hazy IPA was good (so I was told). Surprisingly at the end of our meal, we realize we were sitting close to other people we knew. The man said he had the buffalo chicken sliders and he highly recommended them. I really wanna try the cream cheese jalapeño burger next. Even though my fish and chips, miss the mark, don't shy away from visiting this spot. We were there around 5:30 and by 6 the restaurant was filling up. The food and drinks were good. Keep an eye on your bill as we had items added that weren't ours. The manager was very understanding and issued a refund the next day. I have no problem going back; however, I will be more diligent about reviewing my bill before leaving. read more

We dined on a Friday evening at 7pm with a party of 5. I had a teriyaki burger w/ tots. Very good. Everyone was happy with their meals. Next time I'll try the mac & Cheese which looked yummy. Met a friend here for lunch and to catch up. My friend had a melt and I had the chicken sliders. It was just right amount of food - well prepared. We stopped in to get some food for lunch. The kids were at school so we figured we would do a day date. I got the steak tacos and my husband got the blue cheese burger. The tacos came with like six tacos, but the amount of meat in each was very low. Once I combined the tacos it was really only like two and a half. The flavor was pretty good. It was a tad on the salty side, but that's okay. It was also served with chips and salsa. Also super salty. The atmosphere was typical chain restaurant feel. Nothing spectacular. The service was good. It wasn't great, but it was good enough! We may go back if the opportunity presents itself, but I'm not running there any time Soon :) read more

Nothing special at all. My friend and I came just to have desserts. I had asked in the Spokane Food Finder group for a place with good desserts and I was recommended to come here. Big mistake! They don't even have dessert on the menu. The server just named off what they had, and she didn't even know exactly what that was. She mentioned cake, and I was asking what flavors it had, she was unsure. I asked about their cheesecake, and if anything came on top and she had to go check. Then when we decided what we wanted and asked for the prices she had no clue again. When we got the desserts they were lack luster. Very lame. The ambience was fine, nothing to complain about there. I'm keeping it to 3 stars because the menu seemed like it had some yummy things on there and I'm judging solely off their desserts. read more

Came to share an order of nachos. You expect ooey gooey cheesy goodness. What we got was very tasty but not cheesy at all. The little bit of shredded cheese wasn't even melted. When I asked for a side of queso, was told couldn't have it because it is pre-portioned for the chips. Who pre-portions queso? Got seated quickly, but noticed that all of the seats and booths looked like they've been doing business here for 10 years, or they got them from a Sherry's that was going out of business. First impressions are everything and when a new restaurant looks old (not in a good way), it really makes you pause and consider the quality of the food. Our first visit to HnDs was for a family dinner with about 12 in our group. The place was packed but they handled our large party very efficiently and our waitress was friendly. The food here is spendy and the portion sizes are on the small side but over all everything we ordered was really good. My biggest issue was the street tacos---I've never seen them served with only one tortilla and shredded cheddar--and the onions were cut in huge chunks. I've had street tacos from Cincinnati to San Diego to Puerto Vallarta and they ALWAYS have TWO tortillas and Cotija (and small diced onion)---so those glaring skimps really brought down my rating. Our second visit was just two of us and we tried a smash burger with garlic fries and Mac n cheese. It was good but super small for $17.90. I appreciate that they don't nickel and dime you if you order a side of ranch--but really with the menu prices they are charging they shouldn't be tacking on for sauces. If there is a headliner here at Hops n Drops it has to be their garlic fries. We split a smash burger with Mac n cheese and a side of fries and each had a Pepsi and with tip it was over $46....for one lunch and 2 soft drinks?? ---that's higher than Snoop Dogg. Better food and service than any other restaurant we've been to in Spokane in quite some time. Tables are always clean (cleared AND washed, including the seats which is impossible to find anymore). Prices are on the higher side but you won't leave disappointed---and honestly other restaurants in the area charge more for less quality. read more

We stopped by for a quick bite and drink after a busy day of shopping. I had the huckleberry drop... delish! Hubby ordered a beer which was ice cold. We both ordered wings (I had boneless which were actually strips of chicken in BBQ sauce). Then sauces could be better and more imaginative. We go here often. We always sit in the bar and the staff are attentive and friendly. The food is amazing - everything from the burgers to the sandwiches, soups, salads, tacos and mac and cheese. We had a bigger party they moved a table from the bar to sit us nicely and while doing so they pushed the bench towards our other chairs unknowing that a present was sitting there. A cup in the present bag broke and the GM Larry came to the table and was profusely apologizing and asked me about the cup and he personally went to Walmart right then and replaced the cup and got a $25 gift card to Starbucks and a pack of gum for the birthday girl..!!! It was unbelievably incredible of them to do that. Our server Savannah was amazing and on top of everything with our crazy party. She was awesome and so sweet. Yum! My family and I came here yesterday for lunch and had a great meal! We got to seat ourselves, and our waitress was very friendly. Luckily it wasn't too busy so we were in and out in a timely manner. Our meals were amazing, the French fries are so good! Would highly recommend coming if you're in the area. Food is always good and of course they had mozzarella sticks available. Yeah who thank you for that but they came out with a new chili and on the first day of snow for the holiday season. I stopped by to get another bowl of chili and unfortunately they did not have any. I was very upset so my other food did not appeal to me Because I did not get what I was craving since I'm retired I try to get what I crave when I eat so right now nothing will taste good because they did not have their chili but I have got to see Tasha for the first time in a while, and Beau just came on shiftjust before I left so it's always nice to see the staff but if they have a product they offer they should carry it all the time and I'm just disappointed And I feel if they offer something for a limited time it should be mentioned limited time and when product is available, I know I've gotten hooked on a couple of there items and they have been out so I am disappointed with the kitchen staff not keeping up with the seasonal or the special products they bring out for a limited time read more

Friendly neighborhood bar :D .. is what Hop n Drops is to me. Ever since I moved to Spokane I have been putting up quite close to this place and it was a nice place when the name was "Hops n Jacks" and it is still a nice place to be at when the Jacks has been substituted by Drops :) The staff is friendly, happy hours are decent and food is good .. all that I would want from a neighborhood bar. The beer is a bit pricey even in happy hours otherwise they are definitely 5 stars. Excellent service. We had multiple people check in with us. We went a bit early (4:30pm) so food was really quick. We chose this restaurant because they had so many gluten free options. DELISH! I had the avocado burger with the white cheese and stuffed myself, was so good. They knew about GF so explained without me asking that French fries are fried with other items so cross contaminated but I found the cole slaw to be a yummy side with the burger instead.
