(Make sure to order the egg runny) grass-fed beef cheeseburger, kale&quinoa salad and sampled the "Thai me up" chicken wings. Wings offer your choice of several unique sauces. I hate to say it about this place but I was disappointed. Maybe it's because I'm used to the luxury of the food scene in Louisville or perhaps I worked it up too much in my head, but the simple fact is I was unimpressed. The spot is cool - nice older building in downtown Muncie. From my understanding, this place took the place of the Barn Brasserie but kept the same chef with just a different focus. When we arrived (on a Saturday afternoon) it was pretty dead - which I'm not mad about. The beer selection was average - cans and drafts available. A couple of nitro draft lines available. Service was alright, nothing earth shattering but I also wasn't expecting anything crazy for a spot like this. The most important part, to me, is the food. If you're a chef that's going to pick a focus of some sort (from my understanding pub food here) then you better make sure you've got it on lock. First of all, a couple of things were immediately unavailable on the menu due to supply. No big deal. We started with the fried pickles. The fried coating was interesting. It almost had a cinnamon flavor to it? Which was weird. The coating reminded me of deep fried fair foods - oreos, etc. Dipping sauce was also pretty average, a bit flavorless to be made in house. For the entree, I ordered the pesto chicken panini and my fiance ordered the cuban panini. She was impressed with her panini and I honestly can't speak much to it because I didn't eat it. Looked good but wasn't served on traditional cuban bread. My chicken pesto panini was a total letdown. The goat cheese wasn't very good in its quality. The pesto was ABUNDANT. Holy hell I was tasting pesto THE FOLLOWING DAY. It was listed as a "grilled chicken" panini but it was literally shredded chicken that looked like it could have been cooked in a crockpot on low all day. The sandwich as a whole was disappointing and just tasted like straight up pesto. No depth of flavor at all. Final thoughts: For Muncie, IN this place is probably a gem... for me I wish that Savages was open before 3PM on a Saturday. It's a heck of a lot cheaper and it's a heck of a lot more flavorful. read more

By far the best restaurant in Muncie. Every time we go here and try something new we are always blown away. Their beer cheese soup and spinach artichoke dip are to die for. Our favorite is coming for the fried fish on Fridays. They offer such a unique menu while still catering to all the classics, and always bring us back with their interesting specials. Maybe if I ever actually get to try the food, I'll leave a review of that. This is purely for the poor service/hospitality. To be clear, this place specifically advertises as a "family dining" brewery, so I suggested it to my friend, and we went in with our 3 young children. No hostess at the entrance, no staff to be seen. There were several tables of customers eating and drinking, not to mention a bar full of at least 4 men sitting and talking. We waited for at least 5 full minutes (an eternity for hungry children), and since I couldn't catch the eye of the bartender who eventually showed up, finally I went to the bar to talk to her. Not only does she ignore me, she blows me off and goes to the other side of the bar. By the way, it's almost silent in there, because there's no music and the customers are very quiet. So I say "Excuse me miss!" and ask if we could please be seated by a hostess or a waiter, because we've been waiting a while. She says no, sorry but they're closed and won't open for another hour. It was 3:10pm. Didn't offer us to sit and wait, didn't say anything further, just sort of gave me a dirty look and we left. On the way out I look at the door for the hours, and on a plain white piece of printer paper, it was printed in small font that they opened at 4pm. My mistake on that. But the whole thing really pissed me off. We walked our hungry selves to the nicer restaurant/brewery in the new hotel a block away. Completely wonderful experience, great food and service. Go there instead. If a local small business needs customers, it needs to offer reasonable prices and actually act like it wants your business. read more

I loved this place when it was Barn Brasserie but it pales in comparison to Twin Archer. The food is amazing and the rotating beer selection is always top-notch. I've been here about 5 times in the past two months and can't get enough. I've gone with friends for drinks, on a date for a nice dinner and with family for a casual meal and the atmosphere fits all of those outings which, in my opinion, is nice. I still dream about the cubano panini I got the last time I went. This place is probably my new favorite restaurant in Muncie and I really hope it sticks around - I've told just about everyone I know that Twin Archer is worth visiting. Great beer selection and top quality servers! The food leaves something to be desired though.. The only pickles available are bread & butter(makes no sense for a place with multiple burgers on the menu), the specialty mac and cheeses with meat do not stand up on their own at all once the savory component is gone, and the veggie burger does not taste good at all. I stopped in here on a Friday evening with mis padres (parents). It's definitely a brewpub. The menu has really good options overall. We ordered two apps, the onion rings and chips w/ pico de gallo. The onion rings were freshly hand battered and extremely greasy. A nice taste, but I'm not a huge fan of beer batter. They came with a chipotle aioli or mayo, which was noteworthy. The chips and pico were very good as well. In terms of actual food, I had the Charlie Cardinal, which was essentially a chicken club. Best chicken club I've ever had. Fried chicken, thick cut bacon, and all the condiments. The only thing that was disappointing about the entire meal were the fries w/ our sandwiches. They were beyond overcooked. They were crunchy to the point where we thought we were accidentally given some form of house chip. Hence why I knocked a star off this review. Otherwise, great experience! Hard to believe a place like this still exists with 16 guest taps, a diverse menu, and great price point. The building still has the original wood floors from 100 years ago. If the service was as good as the food, I would have given a 5 star. Unfortunately, our server didn't smile, introduce himself or even seem remotely happy to be there. We weren't aware this was a "gamer" bar before we went, but it is! There are large, what I would describe as Pac-Man style games inside. It is cool that you can play without having to put in a quarter. We sat in the dining area because the bar was fairly full. We were without kids for the night, but the dining room side is kid friendly and appropriate. The food was very good. My friend got the giant breaded tenderloin and I was immediately sorry I didn't order it too. My husband loved the BBQ pork sandwich. My chicken pesto panini was good. The fries were excellent. Nothing special yet .. been there twice since it opened .. burgers are good although small. Pulled pork looks amazing but the breaded tenderloin was disappointing ..mainly breading and overcooked. Draft beer not cold enough for me and they are stingy with the ice in the water. Be sure to ask for extra ice if you like ice in your water. To be fair, this place just opened up and I knew ahead that ticket times would be long. That being said, I was still disappointed. The hostess was poorly trained-she left the hostess stand and walked the restaurant before quoting each guest a time (there is an actual formula for this) and her times were very wrong. The entry is confusing before there are 2 doors. There was a huge bottleneck between the two bars and food running-very hard to watch the chaos ensue. Didn't have the 15 draft beers they had advertised. Waitress was not good. She brought our salad at the same time as dinner??? Soda machine was broken so we were given cans instead. My bbq was not flavorful. My husband got a burger which was fabulous. Prices were ok. $50 for two dinners and a beer. I don't understand the mason jars for glasses, vintage arcade games, hippie food, and brewery theme-nothing goes together.
