Twisted Fire is a restaurant we have driven past numerous times and finally stopped in. It did not disappoint. Our visit was on a busy Saturday night. There were only a few open tables when we were seated and the rest of the tables quickly filled and it remained that way during our meal. Atmosphere - Twisted Fire has a modern, simplistic feel to the decor that works well. The restaurant was full without feeling overcrowded or having tables spaced too close together. The secret to the atmosphere of Twisted Fire is the open kitchen design that provides energy to the space. It's part of the experience to see the kitchen at work. The restaurant has seating at a counter directly in front of the kitchen and my wife and I both commented that it would be fun to sit there on a return visit and watch the kitchen at work. The only drawback to the atmosphere of the restaurant was the noise level just from the conversations. At times we had trouble hearing our server because of the noise level. Perhaps going at a time when it isn't full would solve that issue. Service - Our server found the right balance between being attentive to our needs and progressing the dining experience without rushing us. We did enjoy a full course meal with drinks, appetizer, entree, and dessert and she did a good job of taking our order and bringing out our orders on time and at a good pace. I also appreciated that when we finished dessert she asked if we needed anything else or if she could bring the check. She brought the check right away at our request, but said no rush. One thing that ruins a dining experience quickly is when you are finished with your meal and drinks and you are waiting 15-20 minutes for the check so you can leave. We appreciated the detail that when we were done the check was brought and taken care of promptly so we could leave when we were ready. Food/Drink - This is really what makes or breaks the evening. We ordered drinks (Manhattan and Twisted mule) and they were made well and with quality ingredients. It's easy to burn out a Manhattan especially when not at a high end steakhouse or similar, but this one was correctly balanced. We ordered the spanakopita for our appetizer and it was flakey and flavorful. The prime New York strip steak was cooked perfectly to temperature, medium-rare, throughout the steak. I enjoyed that they don't add much to the steak, but let the meat shine and let the flavor of the meat take center stage, which should be the case when ordering a prime cut steak. The sides of fingerling potatoes and charred broccoli complemented the steak well showcasing the flavor of cooking over a wood fire. We ordered the Smore's Pot de Creme for dessert. It was a rich chocolate mousse with a toasted marshmallow topping. It was very rich and each spoonful was full of flavor and I'm glad we ordered it to share because it would have been too much for one person to finish. Overall, we had a great meal and Twisted Fire did very well in all aspects. We need to return to try more offerings on the menu (every pizza that went by us looked really good) and the counter seating overlooking the kitchen. Went on a Saturday night and it was busy, but had very good service despite that. Waiter was happy and attentive. Atmosphere is nice with an open kitchen. Appetizers ordered: Stuffed Mushrooms came hot and were very good and would get them again. I definitely recommend. Parmesan Wings came cold with no real crisp to outer skin, didn't taste good, sauce just randomly squirted on them so would not recommend or get them again. Baked Brie with Cherries and Pistachios sounded so delicious but i do not recommend. Honestly tasted like grandmas musty ass crossed with urinal cake. Yuck!!!! Also came out cold. Get something else. Entrees: 2 people had the Twisted Burger with Truffle fries and both burgers were tasty, but fries were under cooked. 1 person had scallops with butternut squash risotto and it was okay, but over priced at $36. You get 4 scallops (which came undercooked for my taste) on your plate that is filled mostly risotto that is a too dense to be called risotto and giant asparagus. Would not get again. Last person had Mushroom Alfredo and they enjoyed it. Wine was good and pours are decent. Because of the good service, wine pours, and overall menu choices I would go back to try different things. read more

This restaurant is a mish mash of everything that makes many other lake country restaurants unique. A lost identity of sorts. I had a burger, my wife had a Pinsa. Both were mediocre. Had the burgers. One of the best burgers i have had at a resturant. With a side salad its the perfect meal. Fries were really good and the seasoning was tasty but a bit heavy. Tried the hemp beer and a bite of the duck confit flatbread. Wife and I split our main dishes (roasted vegetables - choose your meat and pasta/artichoke with pesto sauce - choose your meat) were both amazingly good (5 of 5). Drink menu was worthy of the pricing. Everything was very good, so we decided to try dessert ... mistake. Neither dessert was very tasty or worth the super high prices (1 of 5). I've been wanting to try this place and their pizza for awhile now. Unfortunately, I was extremely let down. Lacks flavor, floppy crust, weak wine pours, and an overall let down. However, the sausage is what gave this review the 2 stars. On the bright side, there is an amazing, authentic, Italian restaurant right down the road, Bella Gusto, that I would highly recommend. Had high hopes. We waited for an hour and thirty minutes for our food and had a deadline to leave, we were upfront about this with the hostess and waitress. When it was apparent we weren't going to get our food we asked for the check and when the card was run we were charged for the food we didn't receive. To fix it the hostess disappeared and came back with some receipts. No manager appeared and we aren't even confident the transaction was credited back. Initially thought the menu was going to be mostly pizzas but was pleasantly surprised by the nice variety. The scallops were outstanding as was the burger. The Thai pizza was fine, could've used a spicier peanut sauce. The curds were very good and plentiful, but again could've amped up the dipping sauce. The desserts were original but needed a little tweaking to make me recommend them. The service was excellent. Loved the ambiance. Looking forward to trying more there in the near future. read more

I decided to try to make a romantic evening for my wife and my 21st anniversary. This is the first year we have had our anniversary all to ourselves with all five of our kids finally out of the house. My buddy from the telephone company suggested we give Twisted Fire a go for dinner. I called ahead of time to see if we needed a reservation and was told we should be okay without one but the nice girl on the phone took down our information anyways. The next day we came in at our scheduled time, only to be told we would have to wait for our table. Not the end of the world, it gave us time to sit in the bar and see what signature drinks we could enjoy. We were not disappointed. My wife had a Blueberry Mule and I had a Cherry Tart Soda. I started talking to the guy next to me about basketball when my wife nudged me and gave me "the look" then looked at the bar tender. I started listening to his and a waitresses conversation which included talking about "fisting her mom's old woman's stinky p*ssy" I worked in the service industry for along time in my college days. I encouraged my wife to ignore it. It took lots of convincing on my end for us to not storm out right then and there. I didn't want her to dwell on it and dislike the place because of one bozo's comments. Thankfully, our table was ready shortly after. We got to our table, even though we asked for a booth and the server went over the specials for the evening which you could tell someone took a lot of time thinking over and preparing. I was thrilled to try the lamb chop and asparagus dinner. My wife opted for something a little more light, the cranberry apple salad with chicken. We ordered cheesecurds as an appetizer. They were mediocre at best.. too much grease for our liking. After we asked for some paper napkins to soak the grease off, they were much better. The restaurant itself was pretty loud but that is to be expected with the industrial themed, open concept. It is very well put together and drastically different from the previous set-up as I was told. One of our daughters called to ask me about a car part she needed. I could barely hear her, so I stepped outside (I admit, I probably could have stayed inside, but this was my excuse for a cigarette without the wife yelling at me). I grabbed a cigarette and lighter out of our vehicle which was parked in the back corner and paced along the side of the building while I was on the phone. My daughter put me on hold while she was talking with the parts guy. I could hear what I assumed to be two employees in the back of restaurant talking about the new "carts" they had, whether it was indicka or Sateeva, which I knew from my college days had something to do with brands of Marijuana, while they were smoking what looked like those new electric e-cigarette machines and coughing. As luck should have it, it was the same bozo from the bar and a lady in "regular" street clothes with half a shaved head and big big big holes in her earrings. It wasn't until talking with my daughter again later that she giggled and said the people were smoking marijuana. Our food came out and the lamb chops were astounding and perfectly tender. My wife enjoyed her salad and complimented how the chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy. The manager walked around to ask us how our meals were. You can imagine my astonishment when I looked up to see the lady with the shaved head and big earring holes whom had just been vaporizing marijuana in the back. She was nice enough, made small chat with us about the new patio addition and their new summer hours. I glared at my wife as if to say please dont make a scene. Our server, was excellent and was on top of our drink refills. Despite the several negative instances, we still left the server 20%. She deserved it! Between having to wait for our table despite of a reservation, asking for a booth and getting a table, the bartender making completely distasteful and lude sexual comments in front of patrons and the marijuana smoking manager..... we will not be coming back. And it is a shame because the menu is kick ass. My suggestion to the owner would be to re-evaluate some of your staff, seriously! My review is pretty lengthy but I am all for local and small businesses, owning one myself and aware how helpful constructive criticism can be. Who knows how many other people have heard and seen the same things as my wife and I. The food and atmosphere on the other hand are out of this world. It's always fun watching your dinner being prepared and interacting with the chefs while enjoying good wine. Now for the best part... The food. We didn't know at all what to expect upon our first visit, so we took a seat at the counter, got comfortable, and chose a few things from the menu. The first thing I noticed when sitting down was big red peppers on the grill. Twisted Fire does great grilled vegetables which, in my experience, is hard to find. We chatted with Jason and the kitchen staff while waiting for our order. We tried the Twisted Burger, Seared Sea Scallops, and the BBQ Vegetables & Grits. Not much to say except... Perfection all around! The burger was a perfect medium rare with the best quality beef and a great combination of flavors, the scallops were the best we've ever had, and the grilled BBQ vegetables and grits were amazing. The grits especially. On our second visit we tried the Beer-Battered Cheese Curds, the Artichoke-Stuffed Shrooms, and the Margherita Pinsa. All winners! And on our third visit, we tried their special of the evening... Rushing Water's pan seared trout. Also, a winner! This is an awesome place to eat for your not-so-average flavors of food. We had a hard time deciding so we had to try one of everything! Baked Feta and Olives as an app, Shrimp and Grits, (I went more southern and substituted sautéed Okra for the Rainbow Chard), steak and Brats, Tagliatelle, Melon and Prosciutto salad. Then we finished it off with dessert! Apple Tart and an amazing S'mores dessert that was heavenly even for me who typically isn't a huge s'mores fan. First time here. It took us at least 20 minutes to decide what to order because everything on the menu looked so good. We opted for the green beans and roasted carrots to start and they could have easily been our entire meal. Great flavors (garlic, honey-sriracha!) and roasted to perfection with a little bite for texture which I prefer for cooked vegetables. Then we had the apricot-habañero wings and the Wisconsin Flatbread. For the flatbread, the crust was thicker than I expected and flavors were not as strong as I had hoped. We stopped spontaneously on our way home from a Target run. It seemed busy but we were seated immediately and our service was very good the entire time. We were taking a risk by dining with our 3 year old but they brought coloring supplies and Wikki Stix which my kid loved and kept him occupied. Everything we got was delicious, including our drinks. Good selection of beers on tap and specialty cocktails. The menu has a lot of adventurous dishes, making it hard to decide what to get. As a vegetarian, that's not something I encounter often. I honestly felt scammed when I received my meal. I even attempted to address my concern with my waitress and there was not a genuine response or attempt to resolve the issue.
