They have nice outdoor seating and it's not directly along Columbus Ave, which makes it more relaxing outside. Two Boots pizza restaurant at 70 West 71st Street has a great interior and wonderful pizzas! I was impressed with thier very colorful artwork and great signage. However, most importantly, the pizza I ordered was delicious. The crust was thin but delightfully crunchy and the seasoning on " Grandma's pizza " was very tasty. Obviously tgere are probably hundreds of pizza restaurants in New York City but there was something warm and welcoming about Two Boots that made me feel like I didn't want to eat and run! Really good by the slice vegan pizza! When I was there they had 2 or 3 vegan options. I got the vegan cleo and it was pretty good. They also have more non-vegan options. Stopped here for lunch. Grabbed a grandma slice with crisp cup pepperoni and hot garlic knots. The garlic knots were fresh and had a spicey green sauce on top of them. Tasted very good. I go to their location on the Upper West Side. I really like Two Boots with their cornmeal crust and bottom. They have your plain and pepperoni slices but they also have a variety of other fun toppings. I almost always get the Cleopatra Jones which has crumbled sausage, red, and yellow peppers and onions. They also have vegan options. It has a New Orleans vibe to it with brightly painted pictures on the walls and ample seating. The service is always prompt and friendly. A dozen years ago, when I'd just moved to New York from Southern California, my understanding of NY-style pizza was superficial and stereotypical: thin crust and none of that froufrou, fancy-pants business with the toppings, pal. And so imagine my surprise when, very soon after arriving in 2011, I wandered into a Two Boots (the now-defunct one at 96th & Broadway) and encountered a bewildering mosaic of colorful slices in an equally kaleidoscopic setting. Even for someone accustomed to California Pizza Kitchen, this seemed like a freewheeling place, the polar opposite of what Do the Right Thing had led me to expect at NYC slice joints. Half the pies had been carefully drizzled with one or more colorful pestos. Green veggies abounded. Proteins included not just pepperoni and sausage but also Cajun shrimp! They even had sides of ranch dressing, which is right up there with pineapple on the well-known list of Extremely Controversial Things Some People Put on Their Pizza. Long story short, Two Boots was the first place where I learned that NYC's reputation for rigorous pizza austerity is overblown. (The second place was Freddie & Pepper's, purveyor of a Mexican slice with red beans and mole.) And thank goodness it's overblown, because while I often prefer a plain slice, I frequently want a wild and crazy slice. Two Boots offers the former -- and many, many versions of the latter -- at this new UWS location, which has a welcoming and convivial vibe that has instantly made it feel like part of the community. The vibe and the variety will unquestionably keep me coming back, even if the cornmeal-flecked crust could be a little more mouthwatering. I'll also return for the vegan slices made with well-regarded Daiya cheese, and for the bombini, which are savory phyllo pouches with decadent fillings, such as spinach-artichoke dip. Certainly I'll wash all of this down with a soda from the Boylan's fountain. And no matter what I order -- something simple, or something gonzo -- I know I'll feel right at home. read more

Newly opened Two Boots in UWS! I was excited to try this pizza place as I've heard good reviews in the other locations. I wanted to try the Bayou Beast, but they didn't have any because they said they ran out of crawfish. So, I got a slice of Meat the Mets, which had sausage, chicken, and pepperoni. It was pretty average. They put it into the oven to warm it up, but the bottom crust, didn't have good under carriage. When I picked up the pizza, most of the toppings flopped off. Also, when I went to get my pizza, the workers tried to get the tip of the pizza on the plate, but couldn't and the toppings also fell right off. It was normal service. You order your slice, they put it in the oven, and call your pizza when it's ready. Maybe it's the new location / opening, so they are still trying to get their footing. I would come back to try the Bayou Beast, though! read more

Two Boots is more than a pizza place -- it a part of the lore of Manhattan. If you ever took a train out of Grand Central or found yourself in the East or West Village, you not only know Two Boots but probably have some memories of visiting a time or two. So I was pleasantly surprised to do a local Yelp search on a recent trek to the UWS and see a single review for this location. I immediately figured it was either a Yelp error or it must be brand new. As it turned out I was happy to find out they just opened the previous Friday but also sad to realize that I came so close to winning the Yelp 'First to Review' badge. The pizza here hits all the same notes as other Two Boots locations -- abundant, spicy mini pepperonis, delicious sauce, and the best darned crust you can find attached to a pizza. In addition to canned sodas, this spot also has a Boylan's DIY soda fountain so you can guzzle down their epic Birch Beer, Black Cherry, and Root Beer flavors. As luck would have it, Two Boots founder and owner Phil was on the scene today and was making the rounds greeting customers and sharing his new pizza creations with patrons everywhere from Dallas to Latvia! I predict Two Boots UWS will quickly become a local hot spot for its (now) fortunate residents! read more

Great vibe too with awesome decor. I also unlocked one of the best quotes ever when my tour guide (we were on a food tour) asked my dad what pizza he wanted and he said "I'll take the v for vegan!" This was a pretty big disappointment for me. I had been recommended to come here and it was hyped up to be the "best pizza in NYC", so I was expecting a lot. After looking at the pictures on yelp, I got the cheese pizza, the Meg pizza, and the chicken parmesan slider. Trust me, they are a lot better in the pictures. I'm not sure if it was just a location thing or a total company thing, but they did not live up to my expectations in terms of flavor and texture. The red sauce on the cheese pizza tasted like it came out of a jar. It was also spicy, but then again I am really sensitive to spice. The crust was hard and not fluffy. The pizza dough was just thin but crunchy on the bottom and not soft. The Meg pizza had garlic on it but it wasn't roasted enough for it was a little hard. Don't even get me started on the chicken parmesan slider. The buns on it were soggy asf, the chicken was bland and didnt taste fresh, it also had little flavor. I will not be coming back here, however, it wasn't the worst thing I've ever had. Pretty much all of the other pizza I've had in NYC has been better, but I'd rate this place a 5.5/10. As far as the service goes, they were very nice which is why I feel slightly bad giving this review. The ambiance was ok. Sitting outside was nice. read more

I have eaten at other locations of Two Boots, and those pizzas were much better than the ones on West 71st St. The crusts are way too thin, the sauce and toppings are tasteless.
