This was my first time visiting here and I came with my friend. As soon as we walked in the cashier informed us that we could not go into dining area without ordering and paying first. I give the Food and it's taste 5 stars but the service was 3 stars. Being that this was my first time I didn't know what to expect. I ordered the fried lobster tail with fries. My friend got the seafood boil and hers came within 10 minutes. I had to wait nearly 45 minutes for a lobster tail and a small small portion of fries. The guy who was delivering orders to tables kept saying they were working on my order but I would literally see folks who came in after me and ordered fried items also get their first. I genuinely feel like they forgot. When my food finally came my friend was almost done with her food. I was disappointed with serving size of the fries I received because it was soo small. He saw what I was given as well as let me know he would bring out more. That too another almost 30 minutes but he let me know it was coming out. He was very nice about it I will say. I will update my review after going back and trying the boil . Everyone else I know who experience this place has great reviews so I was surprised by mine.

The food was average to me but I gave 4 stars because the service was top notch. David did a great job moving around the room making sure everyone was good, especially being the only server. They offer bottled Pepsi products. I had the lb of snow crabs which included 2 potato's and 2 corn. It's extra for extra (of course) and extra for eggs. They charge for gloves but not the bibs. One of the claws I had smelled a bit fishy. More than what I'm use to for crab legs, same for my friend. I like the jerk flavor. I asked for spicy but it wasn't that spicy. I tried my friends chi-the-3 way it was SALTY. I also tried their gumbo. It was edible but nothing to rave about. It was like it was missing a flavor that is usually in gumbo.

A black owned restaurant on the southside of Chicago. When you enter they have a big chalkboard showing the menu items. You place your order at the counter and either have a seat to wait for carryout or get a number and seat yourself in the dining area. The tables are lined with white paper for easy cleanup if you're having a seafood boil and large red buckets for you to discard your scraps as you're eating. They didn't seem to have a lot of staff but the staff they did have were attentive and friendly. I opted for the shrimp dinner. I didn't like the way the better easily came off the shrimp. They could have been a little more seasoned, and there could have been a larger serving of the french fries that came with the dinner. I'm not sure I would go back but I encourage people to give them a try because they are known for the seafood boil, which I did not try here, but have had from similar places and I don't prefer it. So if seafood boils are your thing, give Two Fish a try.

Gumbo was alright. The ingredients were fresh, but the taste was bland. Needed more seasoning. It was just an okay meal. Nothing special.

Service-Great! It was one server for the large dinning area and he was attentive and adapted well to the situation. We were seated outside & the rain began to fall the staff quickly moved everyone inside and the server maintained his composure and assited guest timely. Great job!! Food-fresh, hot, flavorful and overall good. I would definitely return. Ambiance-upbeat. Friendly, had a family kind of feel to the dinning area. I can appreciate that this is a BYOB (Wine) establishment. The Live band was amazing as well.

Ordered via UberEats because I was craving fried oysters. I also wanted a seafood platter, but everything here is a La carte. So I ended up ordering a fried oysters plate with fries, a fried shrimp plate, and a fried catfish plate all served with fries. Because I ordered catfish I asked in the comments if they can add tartar sauce to my order but I didn't receive any, so I assume they don't offer tartar. I also ordered cocktail sauce with all 3 plates, but received a cocktail sauce, hot sauce, and bbq sauce. The hot sauce was actually tasty, so I'm not upset that I received it. The fried seafood was all tasty, for around $16 for each plate it was filling. The catfish didn't taste frozen or like the cheap swai, it was surprisingly good as a Southerner. The batter wasn't overpowering or too floury. I definitely want to come to the restaurant to dine in and explore more of the menu.

We had a big party and most orders were a bit different. Everyone lived the apps, drinks and their dishes! Everyone was too stuffed to have desert. I had a perfectly cooked strip steak. It was delicious and the flavor was great! Shared a baked potato and the wonderful Mac & cheese. Mrs A liked it better than Swift and Sons - but that is still #1 for me - although it's in the west loop and not walkable if staying on MI Ave. Don't like the 3.5% for "rising" costs...seems like that has been around since COvID. Joe's Seafood in Chicago has an unusual amount of personal history for me. It opened as a…read morepartnership between Miami Beach's iconic Joe's Stone Crab and Lettuce Entertain You, bringing South Florida to Grand and Rush. I first went when it was still a huge, buzzy Chicago spot, and one of my most memorable dinners came after my high school graduation in 2003. I even got a speeding ticket on Lake Shore Drive with my grandmother in the back seat on the way to dinner, which still makes me laugh. Chicago was an especially fun place for Joe's to arrive. Open outcry trading was still a force, and the wealth creation around it was wild: people who had dropped out of high school could become millionaires in their twenties, while math PhDs from the University of Chicago could make fortunes in the same ecosystem. It was a golden era for hustle culture, when commerce idolized Tony Montana in a way that today is more likely to idolize Jamie Dimon or David Solomon. Death Row and Bad Boy ruled the airwaves, while Michael, Shaq, Kobe, and Allen Iverson defined the NBA. Basketball was so dominant in Chicago culture during my coming of age that I still map other things, including restaurants, to NBA teams. Joe's felt like the Miami Heat coming to Chicago in much the same way Smith & Wollensky represented the New York Knicks: each brought a recognizable piece of its hometown culture into another major city. Joe's brought real South Florida sizzle to Chicago, and it landed at exactly the right moment. Going there felt like an occasion. Florida took longer for me to understand in full. My family has roots in the state going back decades, farther north along the Atlantic coast, and I didn't visit Miami until March 2007, when my sister started graduate school in Coral Gables. That trip began my love affair with Miami and helped me understand why the original Joe's was such an institution. A close family friend's father spent time around Miami in the 1960s and 1970s. He knew local fishermen who caught stone crabs, which gave me an appreciation for the older South Florida culture around the food, separate from Joe's own history. Another Joe's memory captures an entirely different moment. Looking through my OpenTable history, my July 31, 2008 reservation at Joe's in Chicago is the earliest reservation I can find at a restaurant that is still open today. I was 23, working at UBS, preparing to move to New York while the firm was already on fire from its mortgage losses, and Lehman would file for bankruptcy just weeks later. I was broke but wildly aspirational, dreaming about dinners at Balthazar, begging my way past the doors at Cain and Tenjune, hoping to drink for free, and trying to meet women comically far out of my league. Through all of those memories, the restaurant itself has been remarkably consistent. The stone crab claws are incredible, the seafood is excellent, and Joe's holds its own among Chicago's serious steakhouses. The room has traditionally felt a little more formal than Miami, with bow ties, polished service, and a darker old-school steakhouse rhythm, while still being genuinely welcoming. Finish with the key lime pie. Years later, my wife and I held our wedding reception at RPM Seafood, another Lettuce restaurant, then ate at the original Joe's during our honeymoon in Miami during COVID days later, which felt like a fitting circle back. In sheer range of venues, repeatability of quality and atmosphere, and consistency of hits, Lettuce is the gold standard in Chicago, with some of that same reach in Vegas and DC. I've been extraordinarily privileged in my exposure to hospitality, and I still repeatedly admire Rich Melman's model, taste, and execution, now carried forward by the next generation of the family. Joe's is a prime example: world-class, durable, unmistakably Chicago, and absolutely somewhere I want to return next time I'm in town with some dough to spend. While Joe's may not be French, this place still earns my highest marks: très bien!

Be prepared to wait a little bit for a table, or share a big one with another party at peak times. Prices are reasonable and portions are pretty generous. ===== Kind of lost count of how many times I've been. Love getting the dim sum and noodle dishes here. Some favorites: beef cheong fun with egg, siu mai, Singapore noodle, xo rice noodle rolls, spare ribs, pork and century egg congee. All the food has been very solid. Inside is always bustling and can be a bit crowded. Service is pretty friendly as far as Chinatown goes, and very efficient. There's a guy who works there who I think is the manager or something, because he puts in 200x effort and is always hustling. When he's not around it feels like something is missing. Prices are very reasonable and we like ordering a lot here so that we have tasty leftovers for later. This place has quite a few big tables and is good for large groups. My only nits are that very occasionally a dish or teacup will have a dirty spot, and that the bubble tea here is kind of meh. I don't remember exactly which one I ordered, but it was a little watery and lacking in flavor. It's also probably tough since they're boxed in by boba places now. Pro tip: When you first get your table, they'll ask you what kind of tea you want. If you ignore them or don't know how to answer, the default is green tea. Another one is to come at off-peak times. Not only will you get a table faster, but I think they tweak their portion sizes depending on how crowded it is. Definitely will be back! And I recommend you visit too
