A friend recommended Mike and his AMAZING team and I cannot say enough great things about how the overall process went. About a month before the move, Mike stopped by to give us an estimate as well as some advice on how to procure a storage unit. He then followed up week of to ensure he had everything ready and set for move day. We handled all the boxing of our household goods, and his team handled the rest! On move day, Mike and 3 of his team came. They worked fast and efficiently, but more importantly they did so while protecting the home and furniture. I hired Mike again 13 years later- He moved us into our home when our kids were newborn, and helped us move again earlier this month. I went back to him because I was re-reading my old review here on yelp, and thought I'd ask for a quote. Mike and his crew were courteous, efficient, professional, and good humored. They came under budget and they were a real pleasure to work with. The entire crew made a deliberate effort to accommodate our requests and were not in the least fazed about last minute changes (this dresser in a different room, that carpet moved elsewhere, etc). They moved us from a 4 bedroom home we had lived in for 13 years- it was a lot of stuff. The only thing that was broken was a lid for a pot, and that's it- and I wonder if it wasn't already cracked before! Everything made it to the new house ahead of time and under budget. Since they have moved us 3 weeks ago, I hired them to bring home some additional furniture I bought at consignement, and they have moved a close family friend to their new home, and everyone is happy. The real proof of competence and professionalism, though, was when something did go wrong- a piece of furniture from the consignement haul was slightly damaged, and they immediately took responsibility, brough it to a trusted repair shop, fixed it and redelivered- as if nothing had happened. This is my second move with HWC and the service was warm and impeccable as usual. Mike runs an efficient team. They're gracious, professional, and so easy to work with. Both moves were big moves and they think about how to schedule things to minimally disrupt your life (I have 3 kids so this is important), give great tips on how to organize and label things so unpacking is as easy as unpacking a whole house can be, and not one thing was broken, scratched, or damaged in either move. Honestly I don't know how that's possible but they do it. We've used other movers before, some the big name companies, but HWC has spoiled me to accept nothing less than their warm professionalism. I hired a moving company that has been the complete worst. They lied about when I should expect my items. Overcharged me on pickup and also refuses to answer the phone to provide me with a status of my items. I decided to look them up by name because this was the name given to me. I finally got ahold of someone and we both realized THIS IS NOT THE HORRIBLE COMPANY. The Company in question answers the phones using "Handle with Care". When i finally got in contact with the Company they told me that in order to schedule my delivery i need to pay 70% of the remaining balance and sent me an invoice. On the invoice I noticed the name is actually American Home Relocation NOT Handle with Care. Handle with Care has nothing to do with American Home Relocation. I am so happy with Handle with Care Moving! Their name surely boasts their business model. They were so careful in fact that they even hand carried some highly sentimental and fragile items for me! Talk about being courtesy! Mike (the owner) and his crew were professional, courteous, and quick! Their team of four really knows how to move *pun intended*! They used blankets and wrap to protect certain items, and carefully packed in it their truck with Tetris like precision. I was amazed that it all fit! We had a simple move - we were willing to move most of our crap on our own, but we wanted the professionals to do the big and/or heavy stuff. Handle with Care has a 3 hour minimum with 2 movers minimum, and this worked perfectly for us. In that 3 hours, they got all of our furniture and a *ton* of our boxes and anything else big into their truck. They also loaned me enough wardrobe boxes to transport all our hanging clothing quick and easily - wardrobe boxes are SUCH a huge help it was amazing! Mike and his employee were on-time, friendly, efficient and non-stop workaholics. Watching Mike run up our stairs two at a time made me feel like a lazy bum. ;) In retrospect, we should've spent more money and paid for extra time and/or another mover - they were incredible and could've gotten all of our stuff in a fraction of the time it took us to do everything. My heart breaks to leave a low rating, because Mike was nice, and the other guys were nice as well. I will not bore you with an overly long whiney complaint. I will just tell you the basics of what happened. We hired Handle With Care Moving for a move that was from Palo Alto to approximately 2 hours away. We hired the movers to pack our home, including furniture, boxes etc., and to transport and deliver. We paid for new boxes, but after delivery, we noticed that the boxes were labeled with several different things. For example, one corner read "Living Room" and the second corner read "master bedroom closet." Then on the bottom it read "dog's furniture." We do not even own a dog. ... We were so confused, and disappointed. We realized that they had used previously used boxes for our move. But they charged us for new boxes. It made the unpacking process a nightmare. We also had very expensive antiques and art pieces that were broken in the move. We liked these guys on a personal level, a lot! But, they fell incredibly short on the entire move from beginning to end. We used them for every service that they offer, not just picking up boxes and going. They wrapped furniture, packed personal items, moved and unloaded our things. However, it all fell short. Very disappointed overall. If you decide to go with these guys, I am sure that they will be nice to you, that is good. Just be picky and careful about what you have them handle. My wife wants me to give one star, but I am giving two, for their kindness. read more

Wow. These guys do not mess around. It is astounding how much stuff they can move in 3 hours, all with great care and friendly service. They arrived a few minutes early, kept a close eye on the clock, worked efficiently, and understood our need to stay within the allotted time. Rates are $90/hour for 2 movers ($45/hour for each additional mover) and they have a 3-hour minimum. They moved us from a 1-bedroom apt into a 2-bedroom condo in exactly 3 hours. (We did help carry a lot of stuff, which they are totally fine with if you want to keep costs down, but if you want to relax while they do all the work, that's fine too.) There was a minor incident -- a broken light plate when lifting our big mattress, and Mike immediately took responsibility to speak with our landlord and take care of replacing it. From start to finish, he was very professional and helpful, and so were all his workers. He responded very quickly to all my inquiries about how I should pack things and what the timeline would be for our move. We moved a two bedroom apartment from Mountain View to Pollock Pines, which is on the way up to Southlake Tahoe. Our total cost was less than $1600, which was unbelievable! He and his team worked so hard packing and unpacking, there were times when they were literally running back and forth! He was so thoughtful, too. We moved over Labor Day, which ended up being the hottest weekend of the year, and he made sure to open up the truck so that a couple of the trees we had could get some fresh air. My impression from the phone conversation was that they are a professional outfit that would be able to handle my move without a problem. My quote for a short distance move for a 2/2 to a house ended up being: - $90 hourly rate for two movers and truck, plastic wrap, padding, boxing (wardrobe boxes) services, three hour minimum then billed by quarter hour pro rate after. estimated 4-5 hours of work time. Handle With Care Movers made our move to SF from the Peninsula a breeze. Mike (the owner) brought over 2 helpers and helped out himself too and we were done and moved to the city in a few hours comfortable and relaxed. If your moving to SF there is a 2x charge on the driving time but they are still are one of the cheapest around especially if you need condo insurance which we did. It cost approximately $450 and we gave Mike a generous tip because the move went so well. I found Handle With Care on Yelp and am really glad i chose them as they move really fast and care about your stuff. You can also help them move your stuff to reduce the move time and they don't mind. Whilst chatting to Mike during the move (he happens to be a really nice guy!) i found out that they are a pretty new business thats why they don't have many reviews on Yelp so I have made it a point to let everyone know they are awesome! Super careful, a fantastic team with a great attitude and super efficient packing!! Mike and his team recently moved my 3 bedroom home and did a stellar job. I am VERY VERY picky and was very worried about my beautiful freshly redone floors at my new home. I've had movers before, but I've never had movers as careful as they were. First, before we left my old house, Mike suggested to me that I stop at the store while they were having lunch and buy felt pads for the bottom of my furniture. Even though my previous home had hardwood floors, I've never had a mover recommend doing this. Not only that, the team actually put the felt pads on every single piece of furniture before they moved it into my house. They were very very careful and I was super happy about the job that they did. I don't think they could have been more careful. Mike was wonderful to work with. He was friendly, straight-forward, honest and thoughtful about all my belongings. He also did an amazing job of packing the truck. I had a lot of boxes and he managed to fit everything into the truck perfectly. The team he worked with was wonderful. They had a terrific attitude and really knew their stuff. We've moved alot over the years, so we have seen different moving companies...from small to large... Handle With Care Moving was the most efficient and smooth out of the ones we've used. The first thing I liked about them was that Mike was always available on the phone whereas other companies left their answering service to do the work. At first we were not sure how available they'd actually be b/c we had to reschedule an estimate due to their heavy business volume, but when Mike did show up, he was very professional, gave us a carbon copy of an estimate, unlike other smaller companies who gave us verbal ones initially, then asked for email addresses, etc. On the day of the move, the three men (including Mike) showed up on time, and were very professional, polite and checked with us regarding what we wanted to do w/ which furniture, etc. They helped us throw out a couple old ones, too. I've used a few different moving companies in my time and I have to say that Handle with Care movers is by far the best. My situation was unique in that I was in the middle of constructing a new home and was ONLY allowed to move my entire 2 bedroom apartment into my small 1 car garage (mandated by the city). Mike and his crew came out and did a FANTASTIC job. Not only were they extra cautious with all my items, they were able to safely fit my entire apartment into the garage leaving pathways for the city inspectors when it came time for the final. AMAZING! A few great things about HWC movers: Punctual Mike came out to look at my apartment perfectly on time both when giving me a quote and during the move. Delicate An extremely important trait for movers. I have a near 20 year old upright Piano that I bring everywhere with me. I conveyed how important it was that this was moved right. Went into my new place without a hitch and it still sounds beautiful! Cost-efficient Mike really tries to save you money on the move. He came out to my apartment to look at all my stuff and told me about some ways I might be able to save money. He even mentioned before the job started that a tip wasn't necessary unless I really felt he did a good job. You can deduct from this review that of course I tipped him. Mike is one of those stellar people I'm always looking for who take pride in what they do, charge a fair price, and are all around trustworthy. We had him move our 1 bedroom apartment. He took the time to come out and give me an in person estimate. He recommended that he bring a 2 man crew (himself and another guy) and that with a stop to pick up a few things it should take 4 hours. He was very clear about how much it would cost if it took longer, that he would charge per quarter hour, but that they would work their tails off to get it done in 4 hours. Well, they did. Mike showed up with Nick right on time, and those guys emptied out our apartment in no time. They worked hard! I also had no worries about my stuff, as they treated it as carefully as I would have. We stopped to pick up a refrigerator on the way to the new house, and they brought in the last few items about 5 minutes before the 4 hour mark was up! He also did not hesitate to use one of his blankets as a floor mat to keep my new floor from getting tracks on it, and just overall really did handle everything carefully. They were on time, polite, clean, and very well organized. My mother was there the day of the move and they were even sweet to her. Mike has moved a few friends of mine, who also have great things to say about him. My only regret re reviewing Mike is that I don't want him to be too busy the next time I move. As an aside, Mike is also an avid fisherman. As a brother fisherman, it was nice to talk to him about his passion.
