Not the worst experience with a moving company I've ever had but doubtful I would use them again in the future. To me, they seemed a bit on the expensive side (but I only base this on what I had to pay when I moved from 1300 miles away?) This time around I only moved a mile and a half down the road. Looking back the price is based per hour, but when you get sent two kids who look like they barely just graduated high school, it's going to take them awhile. Reflecting on the entire experience, had I known I was going to have two high school kids move all my heavy furniture I would never have moved forward (no pun intended) with Two Men and a Truck. The movers who, again, looked no older than 20 years old, did not miss a beat. I don't want to sound like I am disparaging them, they moved as fast as they can and worked really hard and diligently the entire time. My concern is that they can only physically handle so much, so naturally, it didn't take long before they started to get tired and of course had a couple slips and bumps and some of the furniture took a hit or two, didn't realize it til a week or so later that there was minor damage to only couple items...I'll live. Again not sure how to feel about the whole thing, the kids were great and I don't blame them, but as a concern moving forward the physical strength and endurance of the employees matters and I am not just saying that as a customer but also as someone concerned for the safety and health of the employees themselves. They also showed up right on time, as a matter of fact they called to ask if it would be okay if they showed up a little earlier and I did receive a follow up call asking if we were satisfied which I said yes to. Moving is a tough business. One of the toughest in my opinion so I like to give them the benefit of the doubt. Definitely room for improvement. In the future I will most likely sell whatever is too big to move myself and just buy everything new again. It is simply not worth it to spend so much money and go through the hassle. read more

I was quoted $1700. It was a one day job. I added on 5 hours to the move in about 20 boxes. They did not have to pack a thing we did it all ourselves. The thing is for $1700 quote I ended up paying 3500. So it was $1800 more for the five extra hours. I think that this was very excessive. They charge like $350 an hour something like that. And my daughter said they had young young men if you can call them that pretty much boys to move the property. They also dropped a nice clock that I got for my wedding on the floor and damage the wooden Part of it. And I didn't realize that I only had two months to report it etc. So I ended up eating that price and the 3500. this company is very busy and has two few people working and too many jobs to do. They don't claim responsibility for what they've done and damage. And I probably would've gotten 10 bucks for my clock. I will not use their company again. Because of all this. It has taken me a while to write this review. The trauma caused by the wrong sized truck sent, has been unbelievable. We hired "2 men and a truck" so we did not have to worry about carrying heavy items, we could have an organized move of our possessions and we could depend on moving all of our items. We had no idea this company would leave at least a third or plus of our packed goods and furniture behind. Being "organized" many of our plans were made with the assumption our movers were professional and would complete the movement of our goods. Instead I walked into a hornets nest of left behind furniture and packed cartons. Cleaning people were scheduled and a final walk through was planned accordingly. When I called 2 Men and a Truck about my quandary, they said they could send another truck/movers at our cost. Obviously they claimed zero responsibility and only wanted more money. Immediately we had to rent a Budget Truck, gather friends and family and take on the move of our left possessions. Talk about stress and pressure!!!! DO NOT use this pathetic, inept, unprofessional, irresponsible, unaccountable moving company. Their excuse for misjudging the size of truck was COVID. Seriously? Great crew but company does not stand by its quality of service. If you are storing items, I would not recommend this company since the insurance will expire by the time you move them out of storage. Like any move, be ready to see some dents and minor damage to your items but in my case, they broke the frame to a heavy sleeper sofa and denied my claim since it was past 90 days and not in their storage unit. My advice is that for what they charge, you are better off looking at other top rated moving companies. Otherwise, if it's simple move, go to social media that I was able to get same quality if not better at half the overall cost. Slacker, Liar, Forger 1. Slacker--They are the laziest movers. They move 5x slower than any grandmother. It took them 7 hours to move a one-bed apartment. We have hired other companies before and they all got it done within 4 hours. 2. Liar--Our new home is less than 20 minutes away from the old one and Mark (one of the movers) drove 1 hour. Why? Because who wouldn't love to be paid for $175/hr to have lunch. 3. Forger--They broke 5 pieces of our furniture, including bed and dresser. When we contacted their manager Taylor, he told us we had signed the form to admit our furniture was broken before moving and sent us a copy. THAT'S THE FUNNIEST PART! The guys who moved my stuff were great and did a fantastic job. However they charge you the full estimate upfront and then transfer whatever you don't spend back to you. I've been waiting 6 days now for my $528, and my bank account is in the red because of this. Who charges the full estimate upfront? They have your card on file, so why charge the full inflated estimate upfront when you can just charge you the actual cost at the end like normal moving companies? What a terrible buisness practice. In my last move my furniture was damaged, my sofa, Was ripped, back is damaged snapped wire, my coffee table was chipped. They took too long to move my stuff from one building to another, and you would think they were moving a whole house, to the point I had to tell them they were taking too long. The drivers/movers were nice enough, but... They were over two (2) hours late to start the day, and they were slow to do all of the moves. They ended up being so late that we had to pay the building for the elevator an extra two (2) hours ( and pay several hundred dollars extra). Plus, they broke a couch leg and completely scratched up the door frame (which cost several more hundred dollars extra). Literally the worst moving company. 4 hours late, damaged our furniture during a move that was under a mile (including an antique dresser from my great grandmother). After 4 months of hounding them, they tried to repair the pieces and did a half assed job. Can't believe I paid to have my furniture broken. Also, the general manager could not be a less helpful person if he tried. Because I was constantly dealing with different people during the repair process, I asked to have the GM call me repeatedly - never happened. WARNING this smell like a complete scam. Two Men and a Truck is pretty much all one gets. This company blamed me for underestimating the number of boxes that I would have at the time of the move (8/1/22). I told the booking agent from the company that I was not sure but approximated 42 boxes but stressed that I am not a mover and really it was just a guestimate-I did count the boxes after the move and there were 52. At no time did they send an accessor to my rental apartment, nor did they ask me to send pictures of the items in that apartment. The movers moved only half of my items claiming that the truck was too small to transport my belongings to the new rental apartment-again because I underestimate them. My new apartment is two city blocks (~1/8 of a mile) from my old residence. The movers thought it best to take that which was already loaded on the truck to my new apartment, unload the truck and then return to the old residence to complete the job. However, elevators are reserved for a requested amount of time. When I called the company a couple of weeks prior to the move date, I informed the agent that I booked three hours to load and 2 and half hours to unload, as per suggestion. Roughly around 5:00 pm on August 1, the 3 movers informed me that they could not complete the move as the elevator was booked right after my reservation of the elevator. Although, the new management told me that the move after mine should be short and that my movers can resume the move. The movers informed that their boss, Phillip, would not permit this and wanted the men back to their headquarters. I called Phillip asking for a possible solution. I asked him if they can move the remaining items to their truck and deliver those the next morning, and he said NO. I then suggested that they load those items and move them to their storage and deliver them the next day and he told me No that the storage was full. I asked if he could offer me a solution to this problem and told me to rehire the company for a new move. I asked if there was someone there who I can speak with who has the authority to meet my requests, Phillip told me that he was insulted by my comment and while I was trying to explain that my intentions were not to insult and he hung on me. My thinking was that some managers can not authorize such a request given the situation and I was explaining that to him when he abruptly hung up the phone. In the end, he blamed me for the underestimated boxes, and therefore, the too small of a truck. In the meantime, the movers waited in their truck for just short of an hour while I was on the phone with more than one representative from TM&T. I did speak with the movers who were parked at my old apartment where they left the gear. I was then informed that the hour wait would cost me $850, I asked who told them that amount, and I was told it was Phillip. They left and a good portion of my things still needed to be moved. I rented a flatbed truck and imposed on friends and family members to assist me to complete the move (leaving my remaining items was not an option). They did not complete the move and those items that they did deliver most were terribly damaged or plain out broken. My credit card charge showed that they charged me in full ($1342.50) for a move they did not complete and an additional $925 for the less than one-hour wait time! I disputed the charges as the job that they were hired for was not completed. Buyers beware this is the most unprofessional company that I had the misfortune of hiring. I hired them when I moved from Elk Grove to Rosemont. I got 15,000.00 dollars in insurance I had some expensive furniture. The two young men were very nice but they broke the corner off of my new dresser.and the side glass of my very expensive curio . Two Men and A Truck, Des Plaines, IL If it were possible, I'd give negative stars. The service that I received was horrendous. I made it very clear that I required packing materials and I was assured that all of my belongings would be packed and transported with care. None of my items were protected appropriately, in fact the movers ran out of shrink wrap (the only material they brought with them). One of the movers had a bowel movement in my bathroom. The driver hit a pole upon arriving at the storage facility where I stored my belongings upon moving. My belongings were moved with only the transparent drop cloths I placed on them while my home was being shown. My couch was dropped. My king size mattress is now warped due to the movers' carelessness. The only thing the company cared about was receiving my payment during my reservation. I received a call regarding my moving experience and as soon as I shared that the move was horrible I was rushed off of the phone. I contacted the company directly as well as corporate. Corporate offered no assistance placing the ball in the company's court. The company only offered $100 for tearing and dirtying my mattress protective cover. I paid $1000 to move a 1 bd ground floor condo. All of my furniture is relatively new as it was seldom used. I am fearful of taking a good look at my belongings in storage. I only noticed my mattress was warped b/c it was shoved into my storage unit at the very end. This company is horrible and the lack of assistance from corporate is appalling. Awful experience throughout the entire process. We chose these guys because we see their trucks everywhere so we figured they must be good. We started off by getting a quote that has a substantial range to it. When I questioned them they boasted that they are very efficient and usually come in on the low end of that range, but they give the whole range because "nobody likes surprises". Well we fell for it. That's on us. They got paid hourly and it showed. That's not egregious, but far from the worst part. One of the delivery people spent 40 minutes in our bedroom bathroom, stunk up the apartment, clogged the toilet, unpacked the new plunger, and used it. He left without mentioning it, and we found poop water all over the place around the toilet and toilet paper and his poop still covering the plunger. Just to add to it, THEY CHARGED US FOR THE TIME HE SPENT IN THERE. Once they left, we had to throw out the brand new bathroom supplies, and scrub our bathroom to clean up his mess. With movers, you anticipate maybe having to throw out a few things afterwards because they broke, not because the movers covered them in their shit. The smell lasted for hours. When we made their office aware of this, they were dismissive, and offered us $100. Their hourly rate is $164, so that didn't even cover the cost of the time he spent in the bathroom, not to mention the cost of replacing the supplies that were ruined and the time spent cleaning up the aftermath. We moved long distance from IL to NJ. Scheduling was seamless and pricing, dates, etc. were exactly as quoted! Everything went very smoothly with movers.  They were communicative and friendly. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was because the move out took LONG (5 hours for 2 BR) and some furniture wasn't wrapped that great so some scuffs and nicks on our furniture but this probably happens with any movers. Late arrival, charged nearly double what I was quoted, broken furniture(offered $40 for RESTORATION HARDWARE Custom bed and chairs), subpar customer service from a self-proclaimed service provider who inadvertently cc'd me on a string of emails from other dissatisfied customers (There are MANY) and no interest in metrics or any measurable outcome to prove their motto of "Movers who care". I reserved a pickup on Friday, January 10, 2020, for 4 "lobby style" chairs and a coffee table from a Downtown Chicago office building (items were waiting at the dock) delivering to a South Suburban home approximately 28.4 miles drivetime 45 mins max going in the opposite direction from rush hour. Sylvia quoted me $154 an hour on the weekday and a travel rate based on the time. I asked her approximately how much that would be, and she said that I shouldn't pay no more than $390. The drivers arrived with the delivery a little over an hour. Once done they gave me an invoice for $451 and charged my credit card $542. I was in total disbelief about a $123 travel charge and a two hour charge for a trip that took less than 60 minutes mind you it's Friday a weekday the rate should have been $154 not $164 and Sylvia told me $390 max not $451 or $542. I called the Des Plaines office to voice my complaint to Christina Doocy she told me that the general manager would call me back and he did. He said that I was informed and sent me the voice recording. After listening to the recording, it clearly stated $390. I asked them why I was charged an additional $91 ($451+$91 = $542) and he said that we hold a "cushion" on your card for a few days. I explained to him that none of this was explained to me and he said it was. I said I know it wasn't because I would have said no thanks. I told him that I would be writing a complaint about this and he responded rudely and said, "go right ahead I am going to respond with the truth". Let me begin by saying that while this review is for this franchise location specifically, TMT Chicagoland, LLC owns several franchises in the region... so do your homework! I hired Two "Men" and a Truck to handle my move from a 1 bedroom high rise condo in Chicago to a single family home in the suburbs, with a stop at a storage unit. The move took place in November of 2014. Over the past 5 plus months, they have FINALLY resolved the issues that resulted due to their utter lack of professionalism and borderline negligence. So, what went so wrong? Suffice it to say I was treated to the 'greatest hits' of their well documented, unprofessional and apathetic comedy of errors. I say comedy partially in sarcasm and partially because all one can do is laugh at these "men." 1) Grossly low estimate to trick unsuspecting consumers into thinking they are fair and reasonable... check 2) Moving crew late without the courtesy of a call from dispatch to inform the customer... check 3) Disregard for high rise rules regarding loading dock and elevator time windows... check 4) Damaged furniture as a result of poor training, poorly equipped crew and no common sense.... check (I, too, witnessed and photographed unwrapped and unpadded items on the truck.) 5) A significant volume of items being moved to the wrong location, even though everything was segregated by location, stop one bedroom - stop two living room... check 6) Months and months of unreturned phone calls, unreturned emails, etc... check In fact, one of the most amusing interactions was one I had with the general manager who was kind enough to inform me that the only problem in the entire process was me, in his perception. Quite naturally, I could not care less about his perception. I am only concerned with the reality that these people, from reservations to logistics to claims management to general management to moving crew.... are neither competent nor trustworthy. If, for some reason, one should choose to hire them, please do take my advice.... just stop payment on your credit card at the first whiff of trouble. They are not worth the hours, days, weeks and months of unnecessary aggravation. As a final thought, real men stand up and take responsibility for their mistakes. They also are quick to apologize. I will never use this service again or recommend it to anyone. The leather is torn and ripped on the right arm rest of my chesterfield (due to the location of the damage it can't be repaired without reupholstering the entire $1100 sofa) because it was not wrapped properly, the movers left behind 2 items (fold out table and propane tank) at the previous residence, the movers were 30 minutes late arriving to the first residence, the customer care representative that scheduled the pick up entered the info in for the wrong time causing the move to be delayed by 12 hours-causing me to delay my move out of state by another day, and both my boyfriend and I had to assist the movers with putting items on the truck and placing them in the apartment. Due to the level of un-professionalism (poor time management and improper scheduling), and lack of care for our time and belongings, I take issue with the requested payment including the discount bringing the total to approximately $300 (from $564). I understand that Two Men and a Truck have the "movee" sign for movers insurance, but the company maintains it's own insurance to cover additional damages. My mom needed her two bedroom, second floor apartment moved to another two bedroom, second floor apartment, with a stop at my apartment to drop off and pick up some furniture. She told the folks at the home office what she needed moved; two beds, a couch, dining room furniture, a massive sideboard, etc. They quoted her five hours, with the movers showing up between 8am and 9am. The guys showed up at ten, then took six hours, SIX HOURS, to pack up the truck. My sister and I ended helping just to move things along. Then it took them and hour and twenty minutes to get from Western and Foster to Lincoln and Grace. I finally had to leave for work at six, and they were just heading over to my mom's new place to unload. So barring any further disasters, they should be done around... midnight. Maybe I can't complain. Maybe I should've called Two Fast Moving, Efficient Men & a Truck. Maybe even Two Men Who Can Read GPS & a Truck. They should call themselves two little boys and a truck as the "men" that arrive to move me were smaller than me (I'm a 5'5" petite girl). "Two Slow Pokes and a Truck" is more like it. I lived in a high rise apartment where I had limited elevator time. I told them this, yet they still arrived earlier than I could get the elevator. Fine, we could still get things wrapped up while we waited. As soon as we got the elevator, they started moving things out of the apartment. Great! An hour later, I looked outside my door to see that they had not brought anything down and into the truck but had simply filled the hallway with all my belongings! With limited time on the elevator clock, my girlfriend, my friend, and I started taking things down and loading the truck ourselves for fear that we wouldn't get everything out. I literally grabbed a piece of furniture with a dolly, brought it down to the truck, came back up and grabbed another piece of furniture and went back to the truck before they even made one trip. Eventually they picked up the pace but what I thought was going to be a relaxing move turned out to be a backbreaking 9 hour day for my girlfriend, friend, and me. For what I paid, I didn't want to be doing the heavy lifting. Stay away from this company. read more

If only I could give zero stars. The movers were very polite and nice, however they were rushing to get started and finished so that led to some major issues. They packed our expensive flat screen but didn't use all the parts of the box, and when they brought it into the new house, one guys was carrying with his arms wrapped around the middle of the screen. Shocking that the tv is broken in the exact spot his arms were! The broke the leg off my antique china cabinet, left the table disassembled, and threw the leaves on top of my dining table leaving large scratches. Why go to the trouble of wrapping my furniture only to scratch it after it's already moved. All this and they wouldn't wait for me to move my car out of the driveway, so now there are multiple small scratches on the side of my vehicle! The worst part is Taylor, the only person in the whole company who is responsible for claims (according to the csr). He doesn't answer his phone, is not personable and doesn't even pretend like you might have a valid claim of damage. They offered $125 for the china leg because we saw them do it. All other liability he claims we signed away by signing the paperwork. They never offered additional insurance and we never initialed or were told about the sections related to damage. But really who is going to not sign moving paperwork the day of your move with some of your items already on the truck. Stay away and do not deal with these shady, lazy "businessmen". Their profit is clearly more important than the job people hire them to do. read more

I was a bit skeptical about having movers since I have always heard horror stories about friend's moving experiences going badly, but these guys are worth the money! I was moving out of my 2-bed apartment with a lot of stuff for one person. The two movers they sent for the job were not only friendly but managed to move everything safely and efficiently. It even took the estimated 5 hours that they said it would which was surprising. Very affordable. Boxes cost extra, and can be added to the moving truck up until the day prior to the move. Plastic wrap and other items used by the movers is included in the rate. No hidden fees there. When you book a move, they ask for a $100 deposit and then indicate that your move is billed in 15-minute increments. This is nice because you won't be charged for a full hour if your move ends in the middle of the hour. They even broke down two pieces of furniture I was not taking with me for trash pick-up. These movers were definitely worth the money! Two thumbs up! read more

Worst service ever. They called me 3 times before move to remind me that charges could be higher than promised. During move they couldnt be reached. Couldn't even leave messages because their voice mail is always full from complaints. After move they refuse to return calls about all damaged items. If you want stress free move - go elsewhere. read more

I had a great experience with Two Men and a Truck. We moved from one two bedroom apartment to another a short distance (about 2 miles) away. Didn't have a lot of furniture, mostly boxes, a bed, a dresser, mirrored bar cart, kitchen table. Our window for them to show up was from 2-4pm, and they arrived around 3:45. They sent three guys (Marcel, Nick, & Stanley), who were both professional and fun. They disassembled the furniture that wouldn't fit, and made sure to wrap our fragile items securely (we were a little worried about the bar cart), and they were generally efficient. About halfway through the move, Two Men and a Truck sent three extra movers to help out, which made the move go way faster and saved me money (since they charge by the hour). Overall, great experience, as far as moving goes. read more

They arrived half hour early and moved everything with ease. It took longer to fill out the paperwork. Then again I only had a refrigerator movcd from my inlaws garage to my garage and then a fairly large dresser moved from my garage into the house. I wish I still had the slip with the guys that moved my stuff. They were awesome. read more
