Renter beware: Be prepared to be significantly gouged on your monthly rate here. We were lured in with a competitive introductory rate, but that lasted all of three months. We weren't thrilled with the $82.65 increase in month 4, but understood that the introductory rate wouldn't last and decided to stick it out. And we likely would have stayed through at least the end of January of 2027. But six months later, the rate went up another $95. That meant a 171% increase from our initial rate. Sound reasonable? No. Ridiculous. The two stars awarded here were in recognition of the facility itself. In our experience, it was secure, properly maintained and well lit. Motion detector lights in the long hallways worked as expected as did the freight elevator/lift for moving large items in an out of the unit. But the rate increases were excessive and unacceptable. read more

We have been using this location for over a year now. The manager Sandy does a great job, she is always very helpful and accommodating. The facility is super clean and secure! Rates do change, they will notify you by mail if there's an adjustment. This is standard procedure for all storage facilities, so make sure they have your current mailing address on file! read more

Has anyone had there storage unit double in price let alone without a notification. I started my rent in October of 2025 and they raised my rent double on March 2026. WTF!!! Not to mention that when I have to speak to the guy that is there he is very rude and short!! What is that?! I just received a message stating to call them and I did so. I was sent to voicemail. Then tried to respond to there message and now it tells me that there is an error and to try again later. YIKES!!! Better Business Bureau is next on my list!! read more

This place is extremely expensive and rent keeps going up . I pay 667 dollar a month for a 10x30. Sometimes my payday is between the day I need to cover rent and lands on a day I get a late fee. My last storage place had a 15 late fee. This place it's 85!!! Well this last month with a late fee my rent should be 588 or so. Bill was 668. I told them to run my payment but they dropped my payment card info and told me they had none . So I sent them my info . I mentioned why is my bill even more even with a late fee. The lady ignored my concern. She continued to ask if that was the card I wanted to use to make a payment. I chose not to confirm the transaction and again ask for clarification of the increase in payment . Then my card was charged for the increase amount. I then after the fact got my answer. Not till they took it . Absolutely not okay . I never said yes and if I was going to say yes it wouldn't be till I got my answer to my bill increase. read more

My rental price suddenly doubled with no explanation in my agreement. When I called to ask why, the manager refused to provide an answer, hung up on me, and then told me to "shut up" when I called back. She has the authority to change the price but not able to give the explanation. read more

The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is that it is a bit pricier than others. But the less expensive one you can only go to until 6 pm and they are closed on holidays. The customer service is awesome. They bend over backward to help you instead of trying to upsell you. The place is kept clean. Even the bathroom is always kept clean. Sandy helped me transfer into smaller storage and when I was ready to leave helped me again. I was going to be late getting everything out and she gave me the extra day without charging me for another month. read more

Too bad you can't give a zero rating, this company , at least the one on N Melrose in Vista,CA has one rate on their website with no mention of it being promotional. Two months later the space rent is raised by $73 with no notice. they say they mailed a card but we never received it. A day or two after that payment for $196 was deducted from my account, I get a card in the mail saying that next month the payment will $237. We started out, when we originally reserved a space, at $123. Three months later it's at $237. Needless to say, we moved everything out! Not a very good way to do business!! good luck if you decide to rent from then. read more

I've been with extra space ( formerly Melrose storage for over 7 years. Customer service has always been great. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Kristy is the best! She always gives me a courtesy phone call before the due date so I don't get a late fee. They were super helpful with transitions to a larger unit. Although prices have basically doubled since we started 7 years ago... their prices are better than most out there. Always clean units. Great security. I feel safe having our stuff there. Just wish prices were lower. But other than that no complaints. read more

Wish I could do 0 stars, some lady that lives here, she has a problem with me personally, very judgmental, and this place is not at all taken care, there is dust and spider webs everywhere you walk. There was this horrible foul oder in one of the storage units and I explored it and there was a whole pile of feces under the stairs. It was disgusting. We need better staff here please. read more

I walked into this Extra Space Storage at the end of the day to inquire about a unit. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and relaxed. When I came back and wanted to measure the lift to make sure my furniture would fit, they happily obliged. Sandy showed me around, and had an answer for every question I had. So I want to give a review of an experience I've had so far. So I did call the general line to me a reservation and there was a little mixup on my reservation with the size and for the first month free but it was completely resolved within in a matter of seconds! I was helped by Chrissy who was a really patient and kind lady helping me set up and pretty much explained everything to me from the gate code and the unit. So far I have a really good experience and the area is pretty safe so there's nothing to really worry about. I had a unit here for a few years and just recently moved out due to no longer needing storage. I had a great experience with this facility. Everything there is clean and well maintained including the rest rooms. There's also plenty of parking and room to unload. Their security is top notch and they respond immediately if your alarm is triggered. They also do nightly checks to make sure that all the units are locked up securely. This place is really big so it's no small task to check every single lock but from my experience they really do. As a woman one of the most important things to me is that I always felt safe being on the premises alone, even at night. The staff is friendly, attentive and helpful. I will definitely return to this facility for my future storage needs. read more

My wife was stressing out trying to find a storage unit through our transition between houses. Chrissy made it so easy for her up front. After touring we told her we were going to look at a few more facilities and she told us what we should ask for in order to feel comfortable with our decision.
