This is the worst u-haul I have experienced. I was better off renting from Home Depot compared to u-haul on Rt.40. They make you do everything on the phone which is annoying because not everyone is tech savvy. The staff acted like they couldn't do it without me having a phone. After getting past the phone bullshit I finally get the truck just be told I can't park my car in the parking lot and now I have to travel across the street with heavy traffic and no actual cross walk for my safety !!!! Finally once I'm done with the truck I park it where the destination say drop off , I go back inside to return the keys just again for the employee to tell me I have to do it on the phone !!!! I've never had this much bullshit or complications for a rental. I will never come to this location again the staff and how they run things here it's completely trash!! Vehicles parking break broke causing a loud buzzing non stop. Manager was unwilling to help in any way, wouldn't even let me leave the vehicle on the lot overnight to take my car home without the buzzing. I was told I could deal with it or return it. I needed moving boxes. Reviews I read for this business steered me away. They said that the service agent was very unfriendly and that there was no customer parking. I had a very different experience here. While the lot has very little customer parking (in the back), the store was quite okay with me parking near the office, by the trucks. The shop itself is cluttered, but it squeezes in a full variety of boxes (including mirror boxes) plus other supplies including a number less frequently found. The service agent (he was the manager and said he had been the manager there for years) was very accommodating--to me and to other customers that I saw interact with him. And U-Haul buys back any unused boxes, so you can take what you may need and return what you find you did not have to use. Internet reviews steered me to the nearby EZ Storage. While their facility was clean, service was not as friendly, box selection was more limited, and other supplies selection was even more limited. So, for buying moving boxes, I would steer away from EZ Storage and come to this U-Haul shop. read more

Walked in to a line of 8 people waiting in line when I had a reservation at 5 PM and arrived at the place at 4:45. Only had 1 person working. Long story short, while I was waiting in line for an hour, since I didn't show up on time they gave my rental to somebody else... Uhaul store in Catonsville, MD (Westview location) Customer Service Skills Sucks. I walked into there location (I'm the only customer there at the time) with two employees there and one their boyfriend's hanging around, no spoke to me and I spoke to them with no response. When I went to make my purchase of moving equipment items and I asked for a military discount the sales person said I have to call Arizona for discounts on my cellphone and started texting someone on hers. When I called Arizona on my cellphone she asked me for Credit card and drivers license and charged me for the merchandise before I could get in touch with somebody in Arizona. Asked her why did you do this without my acknowledge all she could say was sorry and she did because she had to go on another system and its to difficult. Terrible. I'm extremely pissed. read more

Spent over an hour and a half on the phone with their customer service, changed my rental pick up location twice, and called to ensure all the information was right and there would be no problems for pick up--well there was, and it took over an hour and a half for me to drive to the location and resolve the problem. If I could give 0 stars I would. We started with a confirmed appt at this Uhaul in Catonsville MD; we even called to confirm before driving over. The woman confirmed our reservation and the van and then when we got there, and waited in line for 20 minutes, told us that they didn't have our van despite ringing us up with our confirmed appointment number. The manager, I assume, dismissed us and said, we have nothing available you've been double booked; not even an apology. When I responded that this was unacceptable he took the time to call another store 15 minutes away. I had to ask him to confirm that our appointment was successfully sent to the other location and he reluctantly took the time to check. When we got to the 2929 location in Baltimore, luckily they had the van but again, at another location down the street. The gentleman here was very pleasant however and assisted us quickly and professionally. When we returned, we requested that they adjust our mileage since our route was longer now that we were not picking up our van from a location closest to our destination as previously thought however they would not accommodate us and suddenly had no record of our appointment being moved from Catonsville to Baltimore. All in all we spent over $100 and an hour of our time and as a result, I'll never use Uhaul again. My real issue is with the Westview location in Catonsville but The 2929 locations denial to accommodate us despite our inconvenience is also far below the expectation of a company like Uhaul. I'll never recommend and you won't receive my business again! read more

This place is terrible! The person behind the counter was extremely rude! He refused to honor the pick up time. We reserved our rental for 7:00 and we didn't leave until 8. It was obvious that he showed up for work late, but then he refused to help us until he finished cleaning out all 12 trucks. It put us way behind schedule! U-Haul guarantees their reservations and pick-up times with a $50 reward, but the manager of this location refused to honor it. This is an extremely poorly run establishment! read more

I reserved a 5X8 utility trailer for pickup at 8:00 am on Saturday. I checked in online the night before to confirm the reservation. I arrived at 8:40 am and was told the trailer had been given to another customer because I was over 15 minutes late. The person I spoke to was unapologetic and all they had left were motorcycle trailers. I had no choice but to take the motorcycle trailer. Nowhere on any website did I see anything saying I only had a 15 minute pickup window. read more

Avoid this uhaul location! If I could give no star I would because they are not deserving of one. They are understaffed and the staff present could not care less about costumers. I reserved a trick at this location hesitantly because they were the only location nearby with a 17 foot truck. I even called the location to confirm and adjust my reservation. After arriving prior to my reservation time today i was sent to glen burnie to pick up a trick because the manager, Damon Montgomery, refused to honor my reservation even though the truck was right on lot. Long story short the manager decided he didn't want to be inconvenienced by my needing the truck for more than a day (after i had already arranged for it) and would rather inconvenience his costumer. I am now having to pay more for the truck and had to pay my mover additional since they sat my apartment for an hour and half while I ran around trying to get a truck for them to load. I was offered the $50 reservation guarantee but that doesn't even compensate half of the additional money I have to pay. I will never do business at this location again and will actively discourage my family and friends from using this location as well since Mr Montgomery and his staff do not value costumers. read more

Wish I'd seen the reviews. Had the same experience. Waited for 40 minutes for a guaranteed rental time of 7am. Manager refused to honor the $50 guarantee, claiming that there were customers ahead of me. There were lots of customers behind me, all equally unhappy. Very disappointed with the complete lack of customer service and the refusal to honor guarantees. Do yourself a favor and find another option. read more
