Have been coming to this bagel store for 2 1/2 years now as it's the only bagel store on my way to work. It's always been below par. The bagels aren't great but it served its purpose. Well today ends that! Whenever I would order a bagel with cream cheese there is the smallest amount of cream cheese you can hardly see it!! Eating the bagel open, this isn't really enjoyable. So I started asking for cream cheese on both sides. All of sudden today they wanted to charge me for extra cream cheese! I didn't ask for extra I asked for it on both sides of the bagel. If they put a normal amount of cream cheese to begin with this wouldn't be an issue. When I questioned it the woman in charge gave me an attitude and rolled her eyes. Is $1 gonna make me broke? No but it's the principle. I will not be retuning!! read more

Most of the staff is friendly and the food is ok. The blond woman taking orders is very rude. She asked me 5 times what my order was but refused to write it down. She never greets people when they walk in and there's been a few times when I'm waiting for someone to take my order she will ignore me and yell for someone from the back. Original Post: I've come here a couple of times in the past and is now my second time there since what looks like a renovation to the establishment. It looks nice but they need to work on understanding and completing orders more importantly. It's the second time in a row with this issue. I'd like for this to be my main spot as it's close to my new place, but I might have to consider finding a new establishment. I ordered an egg sandwich for $6 and when I got to work, there's no egg. How does that work? And the Lady at the front is even writing down my order. English isn't her first language so it looks like I have to spell out my order. Some of the People I've dealt with are no longer working there, which is pretty unfortunate. I called and asked to get a replacement sandwich tomorrow. I'll see if I get it. I'm pretty convinced that they named this place "u-need-a-bagel" because even after you get something from here - you are still in need of a bagel. My main problem here is that these are just bad bagels. I have had many bagels in my almost 40 years on this island and these are the worst ones I've ever had. They aren't really bagels - they are slightly stale tasting rolls with holes in the middle. I have given them a couple of chances since I moved to the neighborhood two years ago but I really can't say they are worth anymore of my time and money. Hard pass. read more

Just picked up an everything bagel with butter a little after 10am. The bagel was very stale and mediocre at best. I remember when the bagels at this location were the best I'd ever had but that was many, many years ago when it was family run by brothers. Solid bagel place. The bagels aren't the best on the island, but they are better than bagels you'd find anywhere off of the island. They're fluffier than the usual bagel I've had, which I enjoyed and definitely makes it different from other places and is sometimes exactly what I'm looking for, rather than those super dense bagels you find elsewhere. The quality is fine, staff is friendly and nice. The interior is a tad dated looking and can make it look unclean, but I don't feel that is really the case, but it is something to be aware of. read more

Another spot I can't believe I've forgotten to review. This is the closest bagel shop to my house. I love the ladies behind the counter. And I was so glad when they put the coffee station up front so you can make your own with all the fixings. Not sure why so many bad reviews it's a solid 3.5 star shop but I'm rounding up for variety & service. Not mind blowing but fresh consistent food. The bagels could be a little crustier on the outside but the inside is always soft & tasty. They have breakfast & lunch specials. The sandwiches are amply packed with your choice of fillings. Whether they be meats & cheeses or salads. The coffee is hot, like I like it always. Come in, give it a try. Stop by after seeing a post on Facebook. 1st impressions are important....when I walked in there was a line and people eating at the table and to me that's a plus! Some people that works here doesn't have mental hygiene to prepare food...i have dietary restrictions like no salt or no hot sauce and I complained one time that my eggs had salt and hot sauce as I asked for none of it...next they started putting xtra hot sauce on my bagels on my next visit....never again read more

I've ONLY EVER have a disappointing breakfast here. I noticed that since moving back to my family home off Belmont Ave in NB, this establishment has ALWAYS been inconsistent. I hope my neighbors could confirm this from their experience. Its as if they throw food together as fast as possible and could care less about preparation, quality or attention to detail. I've held off bombing this place with negative reviews but the people of North Babylon deserve better. We could easily go to Wally's, N&B or even drive into the village for the Railway Express. Please improve the quality, quantity and expertise of your staff because soon you will notice people only visiting your establishment as a matter of convivence as it seems your staff serves others as a matter of convivence. This is contrary to the love, pride and loyalty they COULD have your brand. People wont give you love, pride and loyalty to your brand until you show them love, pride and loyalty to your craft. P.S. When a client orders eggs scrambled soft it means to cook the eggs over a low temperature and removed from the source while still slightly runny and damp. The difference is the texture. A fried egg, or a hard scrambled egg is drier and spongier whereas a soft scrambled egg is soft and creamy. I mostly make my money selling insurance but I have a life (25 years) of experience in deli work and that not including my time as a regular client of delis. Ordered a bacon egg & cheese cake with no bacon Pancake, eggs, bacon & hash browns platter was TERRIBLE. The pancakes were burnt and placed burnt side down in the plate, bacon burnt to a crisp and the hash brown is a frozen patty hash brown & it taste like it was freezer burnt prior to being fried. Final straw today...Ordered an egg sandwich for my 1 "singular"friend at my house and they made me two of the same sandwich for some reason then told I said "times 2" in broken English. I have never used the phase "two times" in my life a bagel store. These people are of very low intelligence. They wouldn't take the other sandwich off and already swiped my card then acted like they don't know how to refund me $6 on a credit card machine. "Sorry we can't refund you it's already on your card" are you kidding me? Learn how to run a business. Most of the messed up orders are due to them not understanding basic words. Bad business if you would rather lose a steady customer than refund them $6. You should be out of business like the last people pretty soon anyway. I have given this place more than enough chances but no more. It is the same person that always gets my order wrong. She rushes me and though it is extremely annoying I make sure to remain polite, clear, and repeat my order. Today she managed to slap a thin layer of cream cheese and barely any butter on two orders. I want to like this place but I just can't. It's so close to my house and convienent but it's just not good. The place is kind of messy, and some of the people working there just seem like they have no idea about what's going on. The bagels are decent but the order is never right. They don't toast anything even if you ask for it toasted dark it's barely warm. No matter how you order the eggs you get the same thing and there's barely anything on the bagels when you get them. Spent a week in Lindenhurst and just so happened to be driving down the road and saw this bagel shop. Man, these bagels are something to die for! The staff is very friendly and they have a lot of options to choose from on the menu. Cleanliness is a big thing for me and this place was a lot cleaner than some of the other bagel shops in town. They claim to have Boar's Head there's no way that was Boar's Head. Strike three and you're out I got a toasted cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese it is loaded with cream cheese and the bagel is still undercooked. Excellent bagel shop in a great location. Been here too many times to count but never officially reviewed it. The food is delicious, I usually come in to grab some breakfast before work and end up having a bacon egg, reasonably priced for the amount of food you are getting. The staff has never been anything but friendly and are usually quick with your order even when extremely busy. The bagels here are very hit-or-miss. Some days they're good, other days they're just okay. The bigger problem is the cleanliness here, or lack thereof. This morning, while I waited on line, I watched an employee come in to work, rooted thru her purse, checked her phone, then asked the next person what they wanted. She prepared their order without washing her hands. Gross. The woman who helped me had a glove on one hand...the hand she had just used to give change to her prior customer. So, with the dirty glove on one hand and the other hand bare, she put cream cheese on a bagel for me. Needless to say, I was too disgusted to eat that bagel and won't be returning to this place. Pretty good bagel place. Just unremarkable. They have a good selection of tasty bagels with lots of tasty cream cheese, but let's be honest. This is Long Island, you can't drive 10 minutes without stumbling on 4 or 5 bagel places. Considering this is the closest one to my house though, this will have to be my go-to bagel spot. Which isn't a bad thing, the bagels are great. It just takes more than good bagels to impress me in a sea of bagel places that are all the same. read more
