I came here to grab a quick sweet treat, and it was the perfect spot! I am a huge fan of ube and pandan, so when I heard about it, I got really excited as I rarely see pandan flavors. Walking into the store, it's fairly small but nice and clean. There's no seating inside or outside, so it's pretty much a grab-and-go spot. They have so many different kinds of ube desserts from soft serve to cakes to tarts to cookies and more. They all looked so delicious. Staff was super friendly and helpful. I got the mini ube cheesecake tarts as well as the pandan & ube soft serve, and I loved both. The soft serve was a bit more on the icy side, so it wasn't the kind of soft serve that I'm typically used to, but the flavors were definitely strong, fragrant, and so so delicious. The mini cheesecake tarts were the perfect size, had the best balance between cheesi-ness (from the cheesecake) and the ube. I made the mistake of not finishing it the day of, and so when I had the other half it tasted like play-doh. Definitely a treat to enjoy in the moment. I came here to grab some ube cheesecake tarts. I got the eight piece for $14.95. They were excellent. They were airy, smooth and had a nice flavor. It wasn't overly sweet and had a good buttery shortbread crust. I ate four on the way home in the car. When I got home, I left the remainder on the counter. I did not know about their location in Kalihi. I found out about UBAE at Ali'i Coffee where they had a pop-up counter. We came in for coffee since The Prince is my favorite, and we were looking for something sweet, so why not? Those little ubae cheesecakes were soooooo good! I can't believe I've missed this! You could go in there, blindfolded, and simply say, I'll take whatever you recommend, and you will not be disappointed with what they have curated for you. I kid you not. We came by on a weekday during lunch to see what was available and we ended up picking up 4 mini ube cheesecakes. The place itself is pretty small, there's nowhere to sit down so we just took it to go. The lady at the counter was really nice and helpful! The flavor of the cheesecake was really good but I feel like it wasn't fully set? As soon as we bit into it, it oozed out of the shell. Recommended by a friend and we made sure to check this place out. At first I was thinking "oh great.. another ube place that probably doesn't taste like ube...". I was wrong! Strong ube taste along with the beautiful purple. I took a star off because they ran out on alot of items and items displayed but not available to purchase. This is the place to get Ube desert items, or technically dioscorea alata, the purple yam, or greater yam, among many other names, is a species of yam (a tuber). These are most commonly found in the Phillipines and are a vivid violet-purple to bright lavender in color. Not to be confused with Hawaiian Taro or the Okinawan sweet potato. They are famous for their Ube Cheesecake! Now this is a real treat for those that appreciate great New York cheesecakes. In my opinion this has it beat. Not overly sweet and the perfect density... For 8" size must order ahead of time. Individual sizes are usually available. They have their Falnbae which is their cheesecake topped with that nice filipino style flan on top. The flan is sweet and though a great overall taste the sweetness tends to overpower the suttle wonderfulness of the cheesecake. They have a variety of other items, including their Ube soft icecream swirled with buko pandan that is dairy free! And you wouldn't know it! It is very creamy in texture and tasty. This is awesome... Served very cold to help keep it from melting to quick though it is silky smooth. An amazing balance. It uses coconut milk as a base. I had a 12 hour flight ahead of me, so I was happy when the employee said they could make air sealed bags! I ended up buying 3 of those as well as the ube pandan swirl. It was so refreshing and a huge portion. I will say though, price itself for everything was fairly expensive. The bags of cookies only included 6, so the total of everything was a little pricey. My son loves this place and he wears the 5th anniversary t shirt all the time. His go-to treat is the soft serve - 1/2 ube & 1/2 pandan. They normally do a good job of filling up the cup to feel like you are getting what you are paying for, as it is pricey. We visited on the afternoon of 7/23/25. They were out of the pandan, but we got the full ube anyway. After we were in the car, my son pointed out that they didn't fill the cup like they normally do, and that it was a narrow rise to the top (ie they lowered the cup pretty fast). I saw what he meant, but as I was driving I was not able to take a picture. We will be returning for sure, but if this was not a fluke and is the new normal serving, we probably won't be regulars anymore. read more
