I heard ube was all the rage in HI for some reason! I'm not a fan of cheesecake but it was all they had in stock in the two separate visits we made two days in a row. My aunt who lives locally said they used to only do food festivals/fairs and was shocked that they finally had a store front. I would recommend going at opening to have the best chance of trying everything or you'll be stuck w the worst of the best, the cheesecake. It was still delicious and my family was fighting over the dozen we brought to the Sunday pot luck. Also check hours because they are definitely limited. Also too much hype w the clothes they have for sale. Random and out of place. read more

I would describe this spot as a ube making factory, creating some great little treats from cheesecake tins to fresh cookies. If you enjoy ube then this is a must try, be aware it is not a sit down type of place it is more if a grab and go. We tried both the cookies as well as the cheesecake and since there is no real seats inside we just ate them in the car. We loved them and so will you. read more

I'm not a big Ube person but this was on my hubby's must list! He went with the Ube soft serve and Ube cheesecake. He loved the soft serve. We were still full from lunch so he decided to eat the cheesecake later! Bad idea! He was so mad he only bought one! He said it was sooooo good! Cute little shop. They also have shirts for sale! Stopped by here after Kam bakery cause I heard it's pretty good. It's definitely set up as a spot for the gram but their pastries are pretty good. I ended up trying their ube cheese cake tarts and WOW it was BOMB! Their crust was super good and the cheesecake literally tastes like ice cream, creamy and smooth. It's really good but I think that the price is too much. The tarts came with eight inside and it cost like $12. It's good to try once but I'm not sure if I'll come back for the price. read more

If you like Ube (and who doesn't?) you need to be here. Get a bunch of cookies for the road and tarts for eating right away. You will not be disappointed! It's a little shop with lots of flavor. And the staff is super friendly. Don't expect a whole lot of selection but everything that's in the display cooler is delicious. I got a few cheesecakes and got full after the first 2. These little cakes filled me up. I recommend getting 1 cheesecake then taking home a tray of tarts. Need one of these shops in San Diego! read more

This was our first time visiting this place. I didn't know this place existed at all until my Mom requested me to bring home some ube tarts. It's a small store almost on the very end of all these shops. Ample parking in front of their store as well. The inside of the store was a little small, but they do sell their goodies in a display case. Adjacent to their counter, they have their clothing merchandise for sale as well. Not only do they have their tarts and cookies, but they also have their ube cheesecake cups, flan and frozen dessert. They do make another flavor of the tarts besides the UBE, but if you want to order more than what they have in their display case, you have to call ahead of time. I had a total of 10 of these take out containers, but they didn't have a bigger box to put them all in when taking them on the airplane back home. I asked if they had any bigger box or tape/rubber band of some sort to keep them all in it's place, but they had none. The containers didn't last long during the flight and broke, cookies were even in more pieces and the tarts were squished. TIP: if you plan on taking these home on an airplane, make sure you bring your own bento box or tupperware of some sort; it'll prevent your goods from being damaged during flight. Overall, my mom liked what she got despite the damage goods. The staff at this establishment were very nice and friendly and they were very apologetic of not having any boxes to put them in prior before my flight. Will definitely be back and visit again because their ube goods are delicious! read more

This place is located in the same area as Young's, DMV, and Sugois, so the parking can be a bit tight, but you'll find something if it's before lunch or in the middle of the afternoon. They sell pretty much 3 things - a ube crinkle cookie, an ube tart (comes in a box of 8; cant buy them separate), and a cheesecake. The filling in the cheesecake is the same as the filling in the tart. Everything we had was great! If you're looking for a small snack, just get the small individual cheesecake. If you're sharing with others, get the 8 tarts! If you want a snack that can sit out, get the cookie. We originally werent going to buy a box of tarts, but the girl working at the register that day was super nice and let us sample one! And then we were sold. (Giving us a sample totally paid off.) My boyfriend typically doesnt like desserts, but he was all about those tarts. I would come back for the cheesecake filling again, but I'd look forward to seeing more ube related foods in the future :) Maybe some ice cream, cream cheese, halo halo, milk tea, waffles, etc. That would be cool! read more

Small bakery specializing in everything ube desserts. The treats are yummy, but a bit overpriced. I suppose that is the price you have to pay to try something novel... We tried the Ubae soft service--very creamy; and bought some of their ube mini cheesecakes. Like ube, the flavor is mild, creamy-milky taro-ish taste, and not overly sweet. read more

Hours and open days are limited so check if they are open prior to visiting. This place is delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by the few, but tasty treats they have to offer. When I was there they had 2 options, the ube cookie, and the ube cheesecake. I decided to try both. I really enjoyed the cheesecake bites. The cheesecake itself was very rich, yet you were still able to really taste the ube flavor within the cheesecake. I hope next time, they offer a new treat, rather than just the 2 they currently offer. The storefront is also very cute. They have a cute sign inside that many people take pictures in front of. We drove almost 30 minutes to come here to try this place because of all the rave on Yelp. First off, I asked the cashier if the Ube soft serve was sweet, she couldn't even respond with simple yes or no. She looked at me like I was an idiot for asking. So I asked if I could sample it being that I saw sample cups right in front of me. She told me no. Lol.. okay. We ordered some items and came back in to order another item and asked them a simple question:" do you have a trash ? can I can throw a empty soda can away" . She said no, ONCE AGAIN. Lol thanks for being helpful. What store does not have a trash can?!?! I feel like she just didn't want to help or didn't care to help. The soft serve was also underwhelming. I was born and raised in Kalihi, even worked in the Dillingham CEC. I moved to the mainland 7 years ago and decided to visit this gem because I've been seeing it all over social media from my friends. I think the interior decor is simple yet stylish. I appreciate the fact that they have lifestyle apparel as well as an arcade game for people who have to wait for a line or for their significant other to finally make up their mind on what to order. I do wish they offered more sizes in the apparel. I wanted to purchase a few shirts for my friends back home in LV but all sizes were out and there weren't many at all. The ice cream was of a similar texture it not exact to Samurai. It was tasty but wanted a more strong ube flavor. The cheesecake was rich and filling, I enjoyed it but I think my bars were set too high due to social media influence and unfortunately it fell short. Overall, this place was cute and I love the idea. read more

First time ... actually picked some Up for family but was intrigued by the Chantilly I can only get Chantilly here in Hawaii. Not a dessert person but I thought I'd give it a try... Wow!!!! I was on a hectic mission to find very specific items for a destination wedding in this area. Our travels led us to a market in the same complex. To my surprise, we ended up stumbling upon UBAE by accident. This was a gift from the angels. I ended up buying a pack of cookies and mini tarts. Of course the cheesecake was sold out, but I was fortunate to get the tarts. I couldn't help myself, so I started munching on the cookies as soon as I left the store. Ubea got me. I wanted to compare their tart and it was great. Crinkle ube cookies and ube cheesecake were pretty amazing too. I'm Filipino, my blood runs purple. I know when I see good ube. This place was just okay for me. I'd come back only for their Ube/Pandan Soft Serve but I would pass on their little tarts. They didn't pack much ube flavor. I was disappointed, seeing how their selection of items was very small, you'd think the limited choices meant they perfected the recipes to offer amazing products. Anyway, the cheesecakes weren't that bad, but again, you could probably pass on that as well. Just get the soft serve. read more

Definitely wanted to see what the craze was about, but found out that the desserts are a bit overrated. The mini cheesecakef cup servings lacked the exciting ube taste that i was expecting- as another review stated, it was basically plain flavored cheesecake colored purple. Didn't get to try the crinkle cookies but I'll be sure to next time. Their ube tarts are delicious, well-balanced with the crust and the ube filling. These aren't too sweet so you can go through a whole 8-piece tray without feeling like you swallowed a cup of sugar. Overall, great service but not something that's worth buying often :) read more

So Good!!! This was a totally unexpected surprise! I bookmarked this place, but had no intention of a must-visit place while in Oahu. Coming back from north shore, I had a craving for something sweet. Ube Cheesecake... Yum! Ube Cookies... Yum! Ube soft serve... Yummmm!!! Ube tarts... Yummm!!!! I came here for the first time on a random Sunday morning after my wife suddenly had an ube craving when heading back home to the west side. We did a quick yelp search and found there little shop in Kalihi/Honolulu. They are on Kalani Street right around the mini plaza shopping center near Dillingham. They are next to other popular restaurants such as Kamehameha bakery and Pancakes and Waffles BLT. Anyways, I have always seen Ubae treats at farmers markets and pop up shops here and there. Their little shop has everything that you come to know to love to eat from them. They have everything from there popular ube tarts, cheescake, mammon, cakes, soft serve, and so much more. Their prices for everything is pretty decent. The customer service is good. You can follow them on their social media platforms for the latest treats and such. Will come again whenever we have another ube craving whenever we are in the town area for sure. read more

We got the tarts and cheesecake. While the pastries are beautiful, the ube flavor was fairly subtle. Parking can be tight but people are constantly coming and going so the wait shouldn't be too long. We came on a very hot day and there is no where to sit to eat inside or outside the shop. Might return to try the cookie if we're ever in the area again . read more

Being Filipino, ube is a constant ingredient in desserts. So, when I found out about Ubae and the hype and pictures surrounding their cheesecakes, I couldn't wait to try their desserts. I first found them when they did Eat the Street pop-ups. Upon trying their cheesecake and crinkle cookies, I realized their was no ube flavor. Their desserts are visually pleasingly, with the nice deep purple look, but taste-wise, it just was alright. When they opened their brick and mortar store, I decided to give them another try, hoping my experience with their desserts at their pop-ups would be better. I tried their tarts and again their cheesecake and cookies; however, unfortunately. it was the same flavor...or specifically, the lack of Ube flavor for all three desserts. There is a lot of hype surrounding UBAE and their desserts look so nice, that I ended-up giving them a 3rd try. I guess I was just hoping that the flavor somehow got better, but it was still a disappointment. One day, I happened to come across an Insider video made on their company which showed and said that they only use liquid Ube flavoring in their products. Finding this out was a real disappointment for 2 reasons for me: 1) this whole time, I had thought there was actual real Ube in their products and 2) if they are only using liquid Ube flavoring, they must not be using enough because their desserts do not even have any hint of Ube taste at all. Even before I discovered UBAE, l have personally made Ube cheesecake myself. I used the Ube root, boiled and mashed them and added them to to cheesecake mixture, so it is possible make an actual Ube cheesecake. My guess is maybe it was is too much work or money for the company to use the real Ube root and that is potentially why they chose to just use the liquid flavoring. However, if you claim to have Ube desserts, then you need to make sure your products taste like Ube! This is the reason for my 2 stars. read more

DELICIOUS. I like to eat them frozen actually. The Ube is so creamy and light, and the crust is flaky and buttery. Such a great little bite. Friendly staff, easy parking, and prices are decent. I brought a few dozen to trick or treat with in my unit at KMCWC (I'm a nurse there) and everyone raved over them. Love the name too!! read more

Location was easy to find and parking plentiful. Customer service was also awesome! I felt very welcomed and she was very helpful. I ordered come crinkle cookies, tarts and mini cheese cakes. My hairstylist actually recommended this place and I'm not sure if she overhyped this place or not but I found the cookies a little too sweet for my liking. If you're an ube fan and love sweets this is the place for you! The cheesecake was actually better than the cookies in my opinion. If you're in the area I'd suggest giving this place a try but if it's out of your way I'd skip this place. read more

You should call ahead because yes, sometimes they do run out... especially the tarts. If you're not picky then take the chance... but I went like 30 mins to closing and only options was the cheesecake and cookies. Both did not disappoint though!

Once they scoop your ice cream, they have a little station where they scrape the peanut drizzle from a big block directly onto your ice cream. Fun to watch! I got the crepe and chose 2 ice cream flavors: blueberry cheesecake and chocolate. My mom got the cup with matcha ice cream. I really enjoyed the crepe! The peanut drizzle was nicely spread throughout the crepe and added a nice touch to the ice cream. The cup wasn't as good in my opinion though because the peanut drizzle was only sprinkled on top and not as generously spread. I would come again, but I would only recommend ordering the crepe option.
