I have been here way too many times unfortunately for cellphone repairs but I just say I have never had a bad experience. I attempted to use my Asurion insurance purchased via Amazon but they wouldn't repair the phone. They only wanted to refund me. So I contacted the shop and brought my phone in for an estimate. Most of my interactions were with Charlie. He was so helpful and professional. He provided me with a repair estimate and all the information I needed to go through my credit card insurance instead. They were able to repair my screen and I only ended up paying $100 out of pocket. They gave me a estimated repair time of 2 hours but completed the job in 45 min. I did have to return the next day because after my repair, my speakerphone wasn't working. They quickly took my phone and fixed the issue within minutes. I hate having to go here but love that they are so quick, friendsly and efficient! read more

I brought my phone here after having issues with my screen that persisted for days. My Asurion insurance is with Verizon, so luckily, I didn't have to pay out of pocket for their services. I had to pay for the screen protector out of pocket, but it was approximately $20, oddly enough much cheaper than the Verizon store's screen protector (I paid $40 when I first got my phone). It took them exactly 2 hours to fix it. I'd suggest maybe going to a coffee shop or go shopping in the mean time somewhere nearby. Have a watch or laptop on you. Or a book. Its very metro accessible (across the street from Eastern Market Metro station, 2 min walk). The main critique I had was the horrendously foul smell the place had. This place is fine if you want to get your cracked phone screen replaced. For anything else, tread cautiously. Whatever you do, DO NOT buy the Asurion coverage they will try to sell you. It's expensive, questionable coverage. While they are happy to sell it to you, if you then come back with an item for repair, they claim they cannot help you without you filing a claim online beforehand. What is the point? I accidentally stepped on my laptop and the screen was cracked and every time I tried to use it things just kept bouncing around. HP recommended that I take my laptop to Asurion, so I did. My laptop is now functioning great. the price for repair was reasonable. I would recommend them. They also repair cellular phones and will come to your house. read more

Brought my PlayStation 4 in to have HDMI port repaired. when I got the unit back it and turned it on, all of my games were deleted, and it all of a sudden required for me to update the system software. When updating the software, it always generated an error code, preventing me from finishing the update. My only problem bringing the unit to them was an HDMI port and when I got the unit back, the system doesn't run properly. When I took it to them, they claimed that because they do this all the time, there is absolutely no way they could've had anything to do with why unit was returned inoperable. All the research I did online said there could have been plenty of ways repairing the HDMI port could've cause led damage + the error code, ie a cut ribbon The mark of a terrible business is to blame shift, instead of solving the customers problem. I really don't like giving two stars to businesses. But, based upon the criteria, this is about where I land. I took my Dell into Asurion to get it repaired and tried to really reduce my expectations (they repaired my phone in 2017, and that did not go well). However, this most recent visit started off great. The drop off went smoothly (courteous customer service) and there was clear communication on the process. Instead of typing out the whole story, I'll just say I ran into the same problems that I had in 2017 with my phone: the wrong part was delivered, ridiculous repair time, and miscommunication. When I finally get on the phone with a manager, she is mildly combative. I refused to pay the shipping fee and told her it should be a courtesy because 1) the wrong part was delivered to their store, which slowed down the repair process and 2) I was told earlier in the process that delivery was "part of their service", which isn't clear that it's an extra charge. She finally relented after trying to get me to tell her which staff person led me to believe shipping was a courtesy. Note: to the staff person who told me that, I got you, Dogg. I ain't no snitch. P.S. Now anytime the computer shuts down, I have to type in the bit locker recovery key. So annoying. read more

I came in with a hopelessly broken laptop whose data needed to be downloaded to a portable Solid State Drive (SSD). I got a call from Asurion that there wasn't enough room on the SSD; I then explained that the laptop had stopped partway through downloading to the SSD. I was told that the SSD could be wiped to avoid duplicative files. This was done, and I picked up the SSD; Asurion recycled the laptop. read more

Pros and Cons. --- PROS --- VERY quick and efficient -- they finished the battery replacement on my Google Pixel 1st Gen in less than an hour. Customer service interaction w all in-store agents as well as by contact form online was professional and efficient at this location. Very convenient location, right off Eastern Market Metro Station. They only use OEM (Original Equipment Manufacter) parts (for Google items such as a Pixel phone; not sure if that's the case for all other brands of phones). Can also purchase chargers, cords, phone covers & screen protectors here. --- CONS --- The location is on the upstairs level so you have to climb a narrow flight of stairs in case you have mobility concerns. The location is also located next to a marijuana dispensary where they smoke inside, so the second hand smoke I experienced while inside the building was overpowering and necessitated use of an inhaler due to a respiratory condition. My experience today was excellent. My Pixel screen was replaced in an hour, and Antonio was extremely patient and kind to customers. He provided the tip that if I had purchased my phone with a credit card which provides the perk of purchase insurance, I should check into whether I could be reimbursed in that way. Even though this isn't going to apply to my phone after all, it was very appreciated advice and I am thankful he took the extra time. While I was in the store I observed him also going above and beyond to very patiently help another customer make sure photos she had received from a relative were transferred from a phone she had just purchased but was going to be able to return to a phone store now that her old phone had been repairable. I would use this business again. And by the way, old reviews that tell about a difficult stairs up to the location are outdated. The business has moved just a few doors down, to a nice street level space with large windows and seating. read more

I had made an on-line appointment for 11AM for Surface Pro 4 battery replacement. But I wanted an estimate of the cost prior to even take it there. Store opens at 10AM. After 10AM I called several times to no avail. So I took the trip to the store. To my surprise, I was told by the gentleman on the site that they do not service this model....because this and that. 1. I would have been nice for the store to monitor appointments made on line. 2. I could have avoided the trip had I been in touch with the store prior to taking the trip there. 3. I would be even better to remove the Surface Pro 4 battery replacement as a workable device period from the website. read more

Asurion was incapable of filing a claim correctly to this location and the front desk guy was so rude and unwilling to be of assistance. After several hours dealing with this company, I asked 3 questions in a row (I'm the only other person in the room) and was intentionally and blatantly ignored. Though this location was 10 minutes from my home, I left and drove 50 minutes to a different location on Connecticut Ave and received MUCH better service simply to AVOID this location. Took my laptop in to the Eastern Market store and was very impressed with the guy behind the counter. I should have got his name but didn't. He was friendly, helpful, polite and a joy to do business with. Thank you. My laptop is working again - Yeah! If you're thinking about buying a new laptop I suggest you don't buy the Dell laptop with the screen that folds over. I did and it broke on the right side of the screen even though I don't use that feature. Apparently this is a common problem with Dell laptops. read more

I came in to get my back camera fixed, they brought out the phone and the camera was still not properly functioning and I notified the employees of this. The employee said he would go to the back and fix it but did not appear to be taking the issue seriously. When he came back he checked me out and then went back for my phone. When he brought it back it was still not properly functioning and be instructed me to " get a new front screen protector because that is causing a fogginess." This is not the case and my camera is still not properly functioning and now I am out of $100. Do not recommend!!! read more

Was told on the phone 59 for replacement, when I arrived they offered 2 replacement costs 1 was oem which was 105 and the non oem price was 80. They try to upsell you on tempered and liquid glass as an additional cost, although they were not high pressure. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID! Before I share my experience with you all so that you understand the lack of professionalism that this store has, I want to be very clear that this review is for the Eastern Market UBreakIFix Store and not entire UBreakIFix Company as a whole. That being said, my experience with this store was AWFUL. To give context, my screen had broken at the end of May so I brought it in to this store on June 1st to get repaired. Now, keep in mind, the cracked screen was THE ONLY issue. The rest of the phone worked perfectly without any flaws. Upon arrival at the store, they told me it was going to be $264 (which is nearly $100 more than most stores. Avoid this price and go to Mobile2Mobile on P St NW or Cell Phone Repair in Arlington). Due to urgency, I reluctantly decided to pay this. The store assured me that the phone would be under warranty for 90 days. Within 1 week (less than 7 days after they "fixed" my phone), I started experiencing a VARIETY of issues with my phone: 1) The phone wouldn't turn off 2) I couldn't receive incoming calls and, the biggest issue, 3) the touch screen didn't work. Over the course of the next ~90 days, I contacted them both in-person and over-the-phone a minimum of 15 days to try to get these issues resolved. Each time, they either tried to walk me through solving the issues or, when I came in-person, took the phone into "the backroom" and returned with it a brisk 5 minutes later claiming "the issues have been resolved". Obviously, they were lying. At the beginning of September, I made my final visit to the Eastern Market UBreakIFix to alert them I was still having issues (If I were to estimate the number of hours that I spent on the phone, traveling to this store, explaining the issues over and over again to a variety of people, and sitting in the waiting room for a fixed phone, it was without a doubt in excess of 30 hours). Upon my final visit arrival, the unprofessional man at the front desk stated that I was now "out of warranty by a few days" and that I would need to pay the $264. So, let's put these facts out there: 1) My screen broke 2) I paid Eastern Market UBreakIFix $264 to get repaired 3) I immediately begin having a TON of new problems with my phone after they "fix" it 4) I spend an additional 30+ hours communicating with the store to fix what issues they caused and 5) They told me to pay ANOTHER $264 to solve the issues they had caused. After dealing with this atrocity of a store and disrespectful employees, I called UBreakIFix corporate who was able to 1) Extend my warranty from 90 days to 180 days and 2) Directed me to another UBreakIFix location that fixed it for free. In summation, UBreakIFix seems to be a solid, honest company. HOWEVER, the Eastern Market store is garbage and should be AVOIDED at all costs. Save your money and go to a different location with employees that don't try to rip you off and STEAL your money. read more
