The restaurant is in a strip mall in Everett with plentiful parking. Once you step in, the atmosphere is vibrant! There's a cute bar, and lots of beautiful affidavit art. The food was amazing. We shared the lamb chops and the peri peri chicken thighs. Both were grilled to perfection, the chicken was actually better than Nando's! It even felt a little upscale, but still family-friendly (they had a couple of high chairs, which was perfect since I had my kids with me). We ordered the peri chicken thighs and the oxtail stew, and I'm telling you--both dishes were above and beyond anything I've ever had. The chicken was unbelievably juicy with layers of bold, rich flavor. The oxtail? Fall-off-the-bone tender, deeply savory, and so comforting I practically melted into my seat. In long We checked this place out on a whim because the menu looked so interesting, and when we're stuck at home so much we really want to try new things however we can. Ubuntu more than came through with an amazing meal. Peri peri chicken wings Tasted like maybe some berbere on the outside, too. Great flavors you don't find on wings everywhere. Skin was not soggy, but not crispy, either. The meat was cooked perfectly, still plenty juicy. I could eat 20 of these. Peri peri wasn't fiery hot but added great flavor. Garlic steak Quite a bit of marbling on one side. Beautifully cooked--tender, plenty of moisture left. Nice seasoning but still mostly tastes like the beef. African greens This is soul food from before we called it soul food. Tastes like collards. Kinda bitter but great addition to the fork when you're munching on something else. Samosas Flaky and airy on the outside, fairly substantial inside. Big complex flavors. Seems much more put-together than most appetizers. Prices here are just crazy good, especially for what you get. First off the decorating and ambiance is on point as for the food The beef rib is absolutely massive and so tender the meat pulled away from the bone when I picked it perfect amount of salt and pepper juicy moist delicious. Ground turkey samosa has a sweet bell pepper tone to it that is delightful outside crispy inside meaty yum. Beef sausage tastes a like a large breakfast sausage. Peri peri chicken thigh moist meat crispy skin a little bit of kick from the sauce it is good. Lamb chop very strong garlic flavor meat is tender I love the garlic but if you don't love loads garlic I would recommend something else maybe the beef rib. Coconut rice the dominant flavor seems to be turmeric it is delicious and accompanies everything else well. The south african seasoned fries are hand cut in house I wish there was more seasoning. The grilled pineapple is amazing sweet and juicy with a hint of cinnnamon. The nsima is plain good thing to eat with a strong flavored protein. read more

This restaurant moved locations (from Seattle to Everett) in spring 2025. I went to the new location in Everett (7425 Hardeson Road). Lovely space, great service, beautiful and delicious food. I had the peri peri chicken, greens, nsima (pap), and chombe tea. Portions were quite generous, and they gave me complimentary grilled pineapple while my meal was being prepared. The restaurant also has further seating across from us with wooden tables and heavy wooden chairs. Also, a cozy bar that accompanied 5 additional bar seating. This is such a hidden gem but it won't be for long. They're relatively new to the area, probably about 2 months? The interior was quite trendy with upbeat Afro music and it's located in a plaza with parking. Ordering was easy, you scan the QR code at the table and pay prior to sending in your order to the kitchen. We ordered the grilled beef rib with the sides of grilled pineapple and their house fries, and an oxtail stew with rice. The food took about 20-30 minutes to come out but it makes sense since both dishes require more cook time. Both dishes and the sides were delicious and cooked to perfection. The Nana was soft and tender the garlic was our favorite. The pineapple was grilled to perfection. The staff was attentive and were willing to answer our questions about the south African cuisine! I got the oxtail stew and all I was saying was "OMG" because of how delicious and tender it was. My dad who is a picking eater loved their pork bbq ribs with the coconut rice. A friend and I were excited to finally have a South African restaurant on the north end and went on a Saturday evening for the inaugural visit. We had both had South African cuisine previously, so we knew what to expect. FOOD: The food was absolutely incredible! The goat stew alone was 5/5 stars! Cooked in a slightly spicy and very flavorful sauce, without tomatoes. The lamb chops were 4.5/5 stars. The garlic and mint flavors on the lamb chops came through really well without being overwhelming, but a touchy on the salty side. SERVICE: Service was where we were let down. When we arrived there was only one other couple occupying one table. There was only one staff member to greet guests, take orders, cook food, serve, make drinks and clear tables. ONE PERSON! Needless to say everything took an extremely long time and the food was almost cold when it was brought to the table. We had to ask for plates to eat from. Our drinks were never made. When we were almost done eating we asked the waiter not to make the drinks since we were almost done eating. 2/5 stars EXTRAS: And then there was the 'other' vibe: Random people would walk off the street and straight into the kitchen, do whatever for a minute or two and then leave. We counted at least 10 people, one at a time. One lady (the owner?) had zero decorum in how she communicated with the staff...yelling aggressively from the front door to whoever was in the kitchen before leaving. There were guys who would walk from the street into the kitchen, leave and then go sit or lay down on the sidewalk outside the restaurant and the hair salon next door. An SUV and a Cadillac sedan parked outside with one door each open with the drivers hanging out with the people sitting/laying on the sidewalk. I can only describe the whole experience with one word: GHETTO. It really saddens me to call it that but I know I will never go back. I do not need to eat dinner while wondering if a drug deal just went down. Not worth the delicious food. 0/5 stars Ps: The South African chef no longer works there. Staff have next to no knowledge of the African dishes they are serving. There is zero African experience other than what's on the menu. As an African, I was grossly disappointed. I sent my food back, it was cold & raw. When I asked the server to recommend an African beer he served me an Apple cider. No exaggeration, cockroach scurried across the bar counter in front of me twice. The server had no awareness of where his resources were, types of beer, cold glasses. No cold beer classes, no understanding of which bottles in the bar were African or not. Yes, I was looking for a nostalgic experience, that did not come close for me, but from purely dining out expectation, it was bad. Sending food back, servers not understand what they had or could not offer, bugs, no comps for mistakes. My wife and I finally tried this place after wanting too for a month or so. Super friendly and accommodating staff even after we got there a little before 30 min to closing. Gave us some grilled pineapple that had cinnamon on it, which I had never had grilled pineapple with cinnamon, and now I think it's the only way I'll eat it. We ordered the oxtail stew and the peri peri chicken thigh combo. Both were delicious with maybe a slight edge to the chicken. So good we had no leftovers. Absolutely try this place. read more

What an amazing meal! We were surprised with cinnamon pineapple delicately grilled to appease our hungry children while we waited for our appetizer. In addition to this, we ordered samosas which were perfectly fried and even my picky eater enjoyed them! Delish! For our main course we tried the ox tail stew with nsima, the buttered chicken with rice, African greens, and little picky-pickerson had a flatbread pizza. For dessert we had the malva pudding that was just sweet enough after such a filling meal! Every bite was to die for! The service was 5-star as the owners wanted to ensure we had a great experience! We met the chef and felt spoiled by the pride he takes in the cuisine! Happy African music played in the background and the walls were decorated with masks you won't be finding at a local market.
