I hired this company through Uhaul/MovingHelp.com and, as many have stated, was pressured into leaving a 5-star review upon checking out because the move wasn't completely finished yet & I didn't want issues. I was also told they needed a screen shot of review to verify satisfaction with their boss. Sadly my move wasn't close to 5 star service. Kalvin & Joshua arrived 25mins late and from the beginning moved very slowly. Towards the end, I was helping to move items to the truck to speed things up. It literally took all day to move out of a 1 bedroom apartment that was fully packed and lightly furnished. My other complaints include: 1) having to go buy a wrench for them to take apart my bed frame, then having them opt out of taking the bed frame apart and having to drag it up to my 2nd floor condo because it would not fit in the elevator. Needless to say, scratches and gouges happened. Easy enough to conceal, but poor decision making. 2) using 1 mattress bag for both mattress & box spring even though 2 were supplied. Mattress was dragged on pavement causing staining of mattress topper/cover. Again, easy enough to correct, but shouldn't have had to. 3) TV improperly loaded/carried/dropped - not sure which, but arrived at new residence bubbled and non-working. Will have to replace - Owner Rick Kirby says not their fault...... 4) Fireplace/TV stand torn where speakers are and gouged. Movers indicated I reacted in a way that led them to believe it was already like that, which is completely untrue. Again, fixable but unprofessional process. I've moved enough in my life to know it's never 100% error free, and I'm okay overlooking some things. But when your laborer's clearly break something- there should be some recourse for claims & replacements. Not just, sorry, not our fault. Would not recommend. Best to over pay family/friends or sell everything and avoid the hassle. read more

I hired this company through Uhaul... BIG MISTAKE! Loading was easy, we had everything in our garage so they just had to load it into the truck. Nothing hard. We ran into problems when it came to unloading. One of our guys was really helpful and nice, but the other one, not so much. He complained the entire time about how much he hates moving, clearly the wrong job for him. This same guy was consistently on his phone or taking breaks. A job that could've easily been completed in 2 hours (we paid for 3) ran over time. Right at the 3 hour mark, with the heaviest stuff still on the truck, we were told to close out our Moving Help account and submit payment (Their online account). Once that was done they forced us to submit a 5 star review AND venmo them $30 or they weren't going to unload the rest of our items. Unfortunately, it was just me with them so if they didn't help, I couldn't do it alone. Up to this point I carried more items & boxes into my apartment than one of the movers did. In addition to this, they hit our walls with boxes/totes leaving scuff marks and dropped our desk causing damage to it. I called Rick while onsite, however, he did not answer. I know he got my message because he called both of the movers but didn't call me back. I called him again when we were finished and he stated that I should call in real time, which I did. The problem with this company starts at the top. Rick said that we didn't hire "movers" we hired "labor", and that I was expected to help them move items. He also said that desks aren't meant to move, they are meant to be taken apart and put back in their original box prior to the move. Rick had zero accountability for his teams actions, just excuses. His movers told him the $30 Venmo was a tip, it was NOT, I was forced to pay the money or they wouldn't move my stuff off the truck. Reading through the lower ranked reviews, I know Rick will respond saying that this is untrue. He can have his thoughts, but this many, similar, 1-star reviews aren't out of coincidence, it's factual. read more

This is hands down the most shady, underhanded moving service that one can find. My typical movers were booked. I made the mistake of listening to U-haul and booked this crook. BIG mistake. He sent 2 kids essentially to move me with an older man. They were all late. All of them confessed that they were selected at the last minute for my move, which was scheduled at 10:30 am, but not started until after 1:30 pm. They were calculating how to make "overtime" on me, discussing it aloud. They even talked about using my time to travel from the pickup to drop-off as a part of my packing and unloading time. But guess what? They packed a 26' U-Haul and never drove to the destination. That asked me to drive, only for them to ghost me and vanish, NEVER FINISHING THE JOB. I'm unable to lift due a recent surgery and I was alone. They left me with a truck to unload. I had to pay strangers $500 to unload the truck. Guess what we found? They didn't use any of the packing materials that I bought!! All my furniture was dented, scarred, discolored, damaged, or missing parts. Now, I have to figure out setting up furniture that I can't move, all while the owner boasted in text.. "You used 4 hours." I guess me paying $700 for a service, with intent to pay whatever necessary to complete the job, wasn't good enough. They would've been better off throwing my stuff on the interstate. The movers did a good job. Unfortunately they were not informed by Rick about our extra stop and could not pick up our additional items which was very frustrating. Though they did a good job I think they could have done a better job at loading all of our things in the truck and not ask us how we would like some of our things packed. TLDR - Forced to buy an extra hour (which the movers provided about 5 minutes worth of extra help during despite me having more stuff to load) because they began moving ridiculously slow once they had 20 minutes left in the original final hour. Despite the frustration of this, one mover micromanaged me while checking out/releasing payment on my phone and I felt pressured to give 5 stars on the survey and tip. Would not recommend at all. I booked movers for 2 hours to load a U-Haul with furniture for a 1 bedroom apartment which really wasn't that much stuff, nor was anything super heavy except my Costco standing desk. My desk was the main reason I hired movers because even with help I didn't think I could get it (the top is glass/fragile, although it isn't crazy heavy). The movers came and at first were super fast and polite but as they neared the end of the 2 hours (at least 20 minutes left), we only had my mattress and desk left. They started taking their sweet time on my mattress leaving only my desk (the heaviest item) when time was up. I then had to book a whole extra hour just to get them to move the desk as they clearly had slowed down to avoid having to move it or force me to buy an extra hour. After paying for the extra hour, they moved the desk in about 5 minutes and then said they were ready for payment even though I still had some other items that needed to go in my car such as TVs that I had planned to get myself when I was only paying for 2 hours. I would've expected that since I bought an extra hour they would help with that stuff but instead they asked me to check out and pay them. While checking out, one of the movers stood over my shoulder walking me through the payment release menu of the MovingHelper website which made me feel pressured to give all 5 stars on the survey and to tip. I was planning to tip these guys until they were were blatantly so slow and I had to pay for the extra hour (which I didn't even receive a full extra hour worth of help). I also was not planning to give 5 stars because of these issues but felt awkward not to with him watching. In addition, the way they packed the uHaul was horrible and caused a chair to bust through the back of my night stand, one of my metal side tables received a dent and large scrapes, and they threw my most expensive all white chair on top of the other furniture upside down so the plastic cover I had put over it (to keep it from getting dirty) slid down and the chair is black all over and destroyed. To compare to this experience, the movers I worked with when I arrived at my new apartment and unloaded my stuff finished unloading everything in less than two hours which only goes to show the UCall&IHaul guys purposely slowed down to avoid the desk or force me into an extra hour. The movers that unloaded also didn't micro manage me while I was checking out/releasing payment on the website to make me feel pressured to tip or give 5 stars. Super disappointed, especially given the great experience with my movers that unpacked who I also hired through U-Haul. Go with someone else! read more

Simply infuriating! They do not deserve even ONE star! DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE UNLESS YOU WANT ALL OF YOUR STUFF SCRATCHED, BROKEN, SHATTERED, DENTED OR BENT. I sure wish I had read the Yelp! and other online reviews for these awful people. We hired 3 of them to help us move. We also hired our handyman separately to assist them. We hired the largest 26' truck, 5 dozen furniture pads, wrap, bubble wrap, furniture and appliance dollies as well as specialized moving boxes. WE WERE TOLD THAT 3 GUYS SHOULD BE ABLE TO LOAD AND UNLOAD IN 4 HOURS, WHICH IS WHAT WE PAID FOR. HA!! Three guys showed up around 1 pm. Most everything was already packed in U-Haul moving boxes in our garage. They didn't finish until almost 9pm. Let me say first that the boss was a kid that looked straight out of some Goth Horror Picture. His face was all pierced up, he was moody and defensive. His 2 underlings were well-mannered and strong, and generally pleasant. None of them had a clue on how to properly pack a truck. We have a 20 acre farm with a large shop and other outbuildings. There was no way for us to supervise all of them as they packed our truck. We should not have had to supervise them as Rick assured us how 'professional' they were. Nothing could have been further from the truth. Nothing was done right. They filled up the truck by inefficiently packing, leaving another half truck-load behind. There was only my wife and I, so one truck so have been more than large enough. I was stunned to find our dining room table and chairs all just stacked on top of each other and more boxes piled on top, AND NOTHING HAD BEEN WRAP WITH THE PADS!! Table and chairs were all damaged. When they finished loading, every pad, except 2 or 3, was still sealed in the bags. It is hard to detail all of the screw ups. They took apart my high-end sound system, and threw all of the components, including my Orb Speakers into boxes without any wapping or other protection at all. They packed heavier larger boxes on top of smaller lighter boxes. Unloading was even worse. They began complaining because they had to work past their scheduled time (at $145/hr). They had to carry our washer and dryer upstairs, and took a nice chunk out of the stairway drywall. It took 2 guys 30 minutes to figure out how to re-connect the washer, and they simply left it sitting there disconnected. I checked out the washer and dryer and found that the washer slide-out detergent cup was cracked from top to bottom. I took it out and handed it to the 'leader', and he just asked, "It still works, doesn't it?". He couldn't care less. It cost us $300 for our plumber to come out and re-connect it properly, plus $280 for our painter to patch holes and re-paint. They left a huge grease spot on the carpeting. Not sure how much it will cost to replace the detergent cup, assuming I can even find the part. They took forever trying to re-assemble our simple queen-size bed frames. They then tried to figure out our king-size bed frame, and put the mattress on sideways. We didn't find that out for almost a week, with the bed making all kinds of strange noises. We finally took the box spring and mattress off, only to find the frame was sitting in the wrong direction, which had ripped the box spring material where it had overlapped the metal frame. We are still unpacking and finding things labelled for 'Garage' that were put in an upstairs back bedroom, and so on. I could go on and on, but you get the picture. I will say the movers worked very hard, for the most part, and we tipped them $50 each, but these guys have absolutely no business moving anyone anywhere. THIS COMPANY IS A TOTAL SCAM!!! read more

Atrocious company and owner. They severely damaged our belongings and property and were not receptive to any sort of resolution that is remotely fair to us. They cost us a lot money to fix damages at our previous rental property in addition to money spent repairing our brand new construction home. They damaged an heirloom table and told me to go buy markers to fix it. The owner is unprofessional and tried to manipulate us by saying if we ask for money back we are taking it out of the worker'a pockets. The workers did not handle our belongings with the standard the company sets forth even when I asked them to they refused. Review of Rick DO NOT USE!Ricks guys were completely inexperienced. At Ricks direction, I provided 60 furniture pads and 2000 sq ft of shrink wrap and was told they his guys were "professionals" and that they would take care of everything. Later, Rick claimed he would never say this because professionalism isn't In his vocabulary. First, one of his three guys was nearly an hour late. Because rick refunded $20, he thinks that makes it okay. His crew refused to use hand trucks, they thought a box clearly labeled "TV" contained rugs And dragged it down my stairs at a full sprint, and They put a hole in my wall on moving day. And those were the forgivable things! Not a single piece of wooden furniture was wrapped, and almost every piece or set is severely damaged. Over 25 furniture pads went unused, and my furniture ranges from several scratched to completely broken. When I addressed this Rick, he immediately went into attack mode and claimed that it was MY fault things were damaged for not explicitly telling his guys what needed wrapped. Imagine going to a restaurant, ordering a meal, having it cooked wrong and then being berated by the chef for not standing in the kitchen and telling him how to make it. Complete joke. Beyond this, they brought a trailer door down on the side of a brand new dryer, completely scratching the side of it and denying I said that I was going to explore possible recourse, including filing a complaint here and seeing if I had any options with my credit card company, Rick threatened me with criminal action for theft of services!The only thing I will say is that his guys worked hard in the pouring down rain, and for that I tipped his guys.I would attach a dozen pictures here if I could of the MANY pieces of broken furniture after Ricks completely unqualified team handled my move. DO NOT TAKE THE RISK ON THIS COMPANY. I scheduled this move in February. It was confirmed and we rented a uhaul and had detailed plans of when things needed to be done. Rick called at 1:30 to tell me he only had one guy available. The other wouldn't be there till 3. And then it was wouldn't be there till 4. I agreed to reschedule to the next day, but the earliest he would offer was 10! Even after ruining my moving day due to his own inability to schedule or have the right number of movers available. He was rude, defensive, and downright scary at some points. Stay away. Do NOT use this company. If I can save just one person from having their move screwed up, it will be worth the time writing this. For context: 38 moves in 32 years (27-years prior military) I know how a move is supposed to go. This was one of the two worst experiences I've had in more than three decades. Began work 30 minutes late. Problematic as we had a three-hour window of reserved elevator time. Unprofessional (their defining quality). In reality they were three hours late. Originally scheduled for 1400, they agreed to show at 1200, but showed eventually at 1430. Poor communication. Unprofessional. FIRST thing they did upon walking in the door was ask for the payment code! Wrong. Get it at the end. AFTER you have completed the work. No gloves. No dollys. No carts. NONE. These are movers, right? They are getting paid to be professional movers. NO LEADERSHIP, experience, or knowledge. One of the three sent on the job - it was his first day working a moving job. He had no idea what to do and got zero guidance or training from the other two movers. (He did mention this moving thing is "really hard"). All three spent significant time wandering about, moving a single box at a time, loading the cart and dolly I provided, then inexplicably unloading at the elevator, loading the elevator with items, then loading the cart and dolly again on our floor. Baffling. Quadrupled the time required to get the job done. After working for 1 hour and 40 minutes, one of the movers announced they had just 40 minutes left. I corrected him that he had 1 hour and 20 minutes remaining based on the late start. Additional context: the truck was loaded like a professional jigsaw puzzle in Boston by only TWO guys in four hours. Ucall&Ihaul: THREE guys, three hours and they only unloaded HALF the truck. My wife and I spent hours unloading after they left. Boxes marked on ALL FOUR sides "fragile" were turned upside down caused significant damage to $1,400 floor lamp. Every single dresser and file cabinet was turned upside down creating a HUGE mess inside. I called the owner to get him to motivate these guys to get the job done. He was utterly unconcerned about their performance. At the end of the move, after causing damage and getting less than 2/3 of the job done, the crew wanted compliments about what a great job they had done. Walking down the hall I heard one of them say "we didn't break nothing" (YES, they did). But that is the standard of success? That they "didn't break nothing"? read more

I really wish I had looked this company up on Yelp before giving them my business. The movers did their job but left a scratch on the floor after moving. I called/explained this to the owner Rick and he spoke to the movers. The mover knew exactly which piece of furniture did this and exactly which room it happened in but didn't recall the scratches. On the phone, Rick informed me of the Supreme Court rulings on mover law and explained that I couldn't prove it was them because I didn't ask the movers about it when they were there. Ricks' solution to this? He told me that there are many products at Walmart for around $20 that could mask the scratches. He was very confrontational on the phone, yelled at me without provocation, strangely started saying "Blood and Vengence" repeatedly, and was acting in a very strange and unprofessional manner. He also informed me that he would sue me if I attempted to leave a negative review on Yelp or any other social media.
