The gluten free noodles were very short in length but tasted not bad
    Sylvia K.

Was excited to come here for the gluten free option. But after asking about it, we learned that they could only substitute the noodles and just take out the chashu and other ingredients with a charge of $4! I'm not sure what would be left after that, so I just substitute the noodles and left everything in there. The GF free noodles were very choppy and short in length. Tasted not bad. But after taking the left over home, it wasn't edible after being in the soup for a while. We also got the Shio ramen and it was meh. Not sure if I will be back.

Public street parking but limited, best to park in the multiple garages available Brand new clean and organized location, simple and elegant style, set up seems simple and neutral Service was quick and friendly First time so the server was really helpful Ordered the ramen, shoyu (soy sauce) and tonkatsu pork ramen Both the broths are very clean, clear and not oily at all I do have to say, this place would be a good introduction to Asian food, to ramen, if you are hesitate or haven't tried ramen before But this place is not for me unfortunately But give it a try, prove me wrong

Delicious ramen spot- but I've yet to try the ramen. We went with appetizers- gyoza - fried with pork. Really flavorful. The shrimp pops are panko fried with a sweet chili sauce. Spam masubi was delicious as well. You get 4 nice size pieces. Service was good even though they were busy for a Friday. A lot of tables and also seating at the bar. Beer on tap. They replaced the Stella with Modelo. I won't complain lol

Open space, not a lot of seating Large amount of ramen noodles per bowl, quite filling if you eat it all, not mad at this Tonkatsu ramen is decent, good amount of pork chashu, thick cut which is nice. Everything was good except for the half runny boiled egg, pretty bland, could have been seasoned to give it some character - $20 Chicken paitan ramen, every thing was good except the chicken. Chicken was pretty chopped up and you knew it was probably chopped up sitting in a tin getting ready to be reheated by the soup. $20 Very standard ramen

Nice, casual restaurant at the Bay Street Shops. It's a good spot to grab dinner before a movie. The Tonkatsu ramen broth was very good. What I enjoyed was that it was flavorful without being too salty. The chicken broth and the shoyu broth also were great. One in our group had the miso ramen and felt it lacked flavor..could have been water. Several slices of pork came with the ramen. The egg was cooked perfectly. The chicken in the chicken ramen may have been braised too long because the meat was a little pasty. Overall, the ramen is good and the portion size is good too. The service is very friendly and fairly quick.

first time here and the place is not that big. anyway, ambiance and service are just ok. for foods: * glazed chicken wing is just mediocre and i will say a bit sweet for me. a bit pricey for only get four pieces * tonkotsu: the noodles is ok but the broth is bland and tasteless for me. the meat is quite thick but dry three stars at this time...

We came in without looking at the reviews. Let's start with the positive. I think the wait staff was very kind and I had no issues there. There was no wait and a couple of empty tables left in addition to the bar seats being fully empty. We were also happy to see they had two vegan options which is what we ordered: one miso ramen and one shio ramen. As for the food, I looked up the Yelp rating right after we ordered and welp. We both did not like our ramens. They use the same rice noodle pack that is available at Costco. The tofu was pretty much raw, which is not the end of the world for me, but does add to overall being very basic and flavorful in tandem with the other things. Also something on or in mine didn't smell very good, like every time I lifted my soup spoon, there was something that smelled like dirty dish water. My bamboo shoots were fine by my partner said his were really tough and he had a hard time eating it. He left most of his bowl without eating it. While they were very kind and I wish them well, unfortunately the food was bad. We won't be back again. I hope Uchiwa Ramen can update their recipes.

Came here close to closing time but service was fairly good, server was friendly and attentive. Food was fairly good. Broth was simple and tasty. Toppings could have been a little more to it. Cant explain but desired a little more, i love hot sauce but none was available. Haha vibe was very chill and relaxed although there was big enough crowd to hear conversation and a few laughs.

It wasn't the worst, yet it wasn't the best. It took a while to get our tonkotstu ramen. When we got it, the veggies and broth were lukewarm. When I mixed a bit, I'd get a hint of hot ramen. The taste was so, so, and the ramen tasted artificial. The service was great, however! If you want a quick bite to eat, try this place, but personally, for me, I'd pass.

I know having bok choy in Japanese style ramen is weird... if you trying to compare how authentic this is to the proper ramen I had in Japan, then you'll be disappointed. But, thinking this as a meal, a noodle dish, then this is a good and balanced meal which I will give a solid 4/5. You got good portion of protein, carb, and veggies, and the shoyu broth has good flavor without too much salt. Pretty solid. The service is quick and friendly.

    1. The service is questionable. The staff wouldn't look away when you choose the tip; they also completely forgot to add bamboo shoots into the bowl. There was no apology whatsoever 2. The Tonkotsu obviously used chicken broth instead of pork broth and was very bland 3. The Tantanmen had very little sesame paste and was also bland 4. The Takoyaki only had one small piece of octopus per piece 5. The food quality doesn't match its price at all; it's not worthy

I'd describe it as tasting pretty much how it smells, unique and distinctive. The broth had a strong flavor but still felt surprisingly light to drink. The duck was a little chewy for my preference, which I think may have been because of the skin. The location was a bit tucked away, so it took us a little driving around before finding it. The area looked sketchy too. Parking was also slightly confusing. I wasn't know sure if parking near the entrance was allowed since it looked fenced off without a clear opening (if that makes sense). Would I come back again? Probably not, but I'm glad I got to try something new. It wasn't quite my preference, but I can see how others might enjoy it.

The restaurant is cute and feels really homey despite being a casual counter order spot. We tried a bunch of dishes between us including the tuna tataki, yamagata dashi tofu, og cold soba, key lime cold soba and duck hot soba in soup. Everything was solid but I think I actually enjoyed the small apps more than the soba itself. The tuna tataki was really fresh and the homemade medium firm tofu was great as well with a Japanese eggplant and cucumber salsa. The soba was good but didn't have that chew texture I love with other housemade sobas. The noodles were a bit too firm and broke apart easily. I enjoyed the dipping sauce for the cold soba and hot soup but the key lime soba cold broth was too bitter, even without eating the lime slices themselves. Do note that the apps came out super quick but the soba did take another 20 min which was too long to wait to get the soba to eat with the apps. Overall really nice dining experience that reminds me of being back in Japan but the food was slightly disappointing.

We also tried the House Special Pancake Stuffed with Leeks, a set of three pan-fried pies with a filling of chives, vermicelli, egg, and woodear mushrooms; the Dry Braised Green Beans, stir-fried with black beans and preserved vegetables; the Sautéed On-Choy; and Sliced Fish with zucchini, woodear mushrooms, peas, and carrots in a mild sauce. The ingredients seem quality and the noodle texture has the perfect chew, which Mensho described them as "mochi noodles". I opted for the vegan ramen during my recent visit, loved all the veggies and the broth wasn't too salty. I had a couple bites of the wagyu from the wagyu ramen, the meat was very rich/buttery. I probably wouldn't want a whole serving of that, but a few bites satisfied the curiousity. Currently, Mensho offers a matcha pudding type dessert for $7. The crisp pork was exactly that - thinly cut and very crispy. The rest of the topping were fairly typical, as were the noodles and the soup. It was what I wanted - something similar and not too heavy. Service was a lackluster. Friendly enough, but once my food was delivered, I never saw the server again for at least 20 minutes. While I ate, a customer came in, waited 5 minutes and left because no one was there to seat him or take his order. After I finished my meal, I waited to see if the server would come out to give me the bill, but it didn't happen. I had to go to the front counter and get her attention to get the bill. She was busy in the kitchen eating her lunch, I suppose. Overall, a decent visit. I was happy with my meal. I wasn't in a hurry, so I didn't mind the disappearance of the server. But I wonder how much business they lose when no one is around to serve customers.
