    Ice cream drink

The novelty of this place is unmatched but sometimes the drinks don't hit quite like I wish they would. While this ice cream cocktail looked cute and had nice presentation, the flavor was off and was too boozy to be enjoyable in my opinion. I'll stick to their normal cocktails next time or maybe just a scoop of ice cream because I do like to hangout in their beautiful lounge!

UES. is a speakeasy located within an ice cream shop. There's a plethora of drinks on the menu, as well as some small bites such as pretzels and Dino nuggets. Their drinks are unique, some featuring ice cream or even catching on fire. The only thing is the service wasn't great - it took us ages to get our drinks and there were times the energy felt a bit cold.

A fun ice cream speakeasy in the upper east side! Ice cream lovers will rejoice at this spot. Once you find the secret entrance, you can order ice cream based cocktails or also order ice cream. The space isn't that big but the service is good. You can sit at the bar or get a table.

First, I'd like to say I loved the icecream shop-- the speakeasy on the other hand was not my favorite of speakeasys I've been to. I must admit it looks very cool and loved the decorations for Vday. I found that our waiter(s) were always MIA esp when we wanted more drinks. We ended up not ordering more because by the time they came back around we wanted to leave and not order food. I enjoyed my drink: I left my heart in yorkville (gin based) with some of my favorite icecream. It came in an awesome heart glass. The Barbizon drink I had came in a plastic flute which was surprising- thought it would come in another fancy glass-- did they run out? It was a bit sweeter than my taste but the heart shape strawberry was a nice touch. I'll give this spot another try.

My friend and I came here a few weeks ago to grab a drink and catchup. She lives in the neighborhood and has been wanting to check this out. I love a good speakeasy and this one has a great storefront. It's actually an ice cream shop in front, with real ice cream and nondairy options. The experience of figuring out how to get into the speakeasy was pretty good. I won't describe it here and spoil it for anyone who wants to try it out. Once you enter the speakeasy, the vibe completely changes from bright friendly ice cream shop, to dark and sophisticated cocktail bar. The art scattered along the walls and the ceiling is really cool and unique. The bar itself is beautiful as well. there's several large booths for large groups and also tables for two if you're on a date or with a friend like we were to catch up over a drink. Now here is where I have some feedback for this place to take it from good to great. Please simplify your mobile menu. I like the idea of the themed drinks and the story behind each one, but it's really hard to navigate on your phone. The idea is cute but for each drink you have a title, then a paragraph telling the story about the drink, then a second detailed description of the drink itself. For every drink I had to read two paragraphs just to find out it's another tequila drink and I don't like tequila. We asked our server for a drink recommendation that was similar to a vodka martini and what he suggested was something fruity and sweet (not at all what we were in the mood for). Maybe if the menu were printed or organized by spirit, it would be easier to navigate. But we both got frustrated and just ordered dirty martinis because we tired of scrolling. Also please tell whoever's phone is connected to the speaker to put their playlist on shuffle. When we arrived, we walked into some Mariah Carey, which was great. But then there were four more Mariah Carey songs, and then we realized that We Belong Together was playing again. It sounded like someone noticed and switched to Justin Timberlake and then the same thing happened again and we heard Rock Your Body twice within 30 minutes. With these minor tweaks I think this place could be amazing! We had a good time but probably would've stayed for more than one drink if the music didn't keep repeating or we found an amazing cocktail on the menu we had to try.

Omg this place is so underrated - there wasn't anyone there Friday evening but I'm sure this place gets busy. I love the vibe of this entire place, plastered with cool wall art and the bar is great! The drinks are slightly expensive but honestly they are all super unique drinks and flavors so definitely worth a try

Cute idea for the speakeasy spot! Cute cocktails with UES iconic names! Very Instagrammable, But taste was mid, do not expect good quality cocktails. mixology will need to improve. Small space, long wait if you plan to go in on a weekend. Gentlemen, please your leather shoes if we are planning to get it.

Ice cream shop employee on a very important FaceTime call.

Came in for ice cream, left feeling like we crashed a private phone call. The guy behind the counter couldn't be more annoyed by our presence if he tried -- ignored us, acted bothered, barely scooped half a cup, talk rude to us, and couldn't wait to get back to his call. If you enjoy being treated like an inconvenience, this is your spot. 5 star for making us feel unwelcome. Worst costumer service.

UES. was a letdown. Although I love the concept of a speakeasy hidden behind a legitimate ice cream shop, I feel as though this is a tourist trap, and yet, was pretty quiet for a Friday night. You begin by having to solve the "riddle" of where to find a light switch in an obvious location, which is supposed to be the "abracadabra" that triggers the door to the speakeasy to open, but in reality we just stood there awkwardly as we waited for a disgruntled staff member to open the door from the inside. I will say, the interior is well-designed and fun. The tables are small and incredibly close together, which makes it awkward. The menu is on a QR code, and is on a PDF close to 30 pages long, with lengthy (yet somehow still unhelpful) descriptions of each drink, which all have long names that the servers have trouble hearing. A simple description of the notes/flavors of each drink on a 3 pager (max) would suffice, but no. They also serve ice cream in easily 50 different combos (1-3 scoops, vaguely described, overpriced ice cream sundaes) among other things. Their menu could use some paring down, as I'm sure it's a nightmare for the two people working to be bartenders, serve up ice cream, and servers all at once. On that note, service could have been better. It wasn't friendly, to say the least. Lastly--they make it SO clear on their website that the dress code is strict and upscale (no sneakers?!), meaning that my party, who had only packed walkable shoes (no heels) were stressing all day wondering if there was a chance we were going to get turned away from an ICE CREAM SHOP (speakeasy, but you get my drift). Only to arrive and the dress code was very much not enforced, which was good for us, but... ?!?!? I did enjoy my cocktail (although I'm no connoisseur and my tastes are juvenile, as evident by the literal $25 unicorn ice cream I spent my hard earned money on) as well as the ice cream itself. However, I don't see UES. as worth a return trip (or a first trip, for that matter).

The drinks here are always fantastic, it's the reason you would hope to be drawn to an ice cream speakeasy, right? Cocktails themed around a lot of city staples including businesses and people who have made New York great. I would say about 1/3 of the drinks include a pairing of ice cream or sorbet from the front of house parlor, but you can get those flavors or other local desserts a la carte. The menu features "light bites" and they really do mean light, snacks not food BUUUUT- you can bring food from local places in, so if you need more than tots a jumbo soft pretzel (which is actually quite good) I recommend calling in a To-Go order for a pizza or some loaded Mac and cheese then picking it up on your way to UES. I have come many times when a friend visits NY and they want something unique, but I may have to pick my nights a little more carefully- Cinema Sundays are always understaffed, which makes no sense because they are a popular night! Especially the 9:00 showing, I always come for the 7:00 and when I leave just before 9:00 there is a line out the door and I dread the night ahead for a single bartender up against 30 cocktail orders.

This review is regarding the super top secret bar behind the door of ice cream pints. I had an enjoyable experience here. I didn't make a reservation, but luckily when I showed up around 12:45am, they were able to let us in. It's fun you have to find the switch to open the door. Then you get brought behind the door and the bar is very cool. The space is small, but I thought it had a nice ambiance. All the staff I came into contact with were awesome! They were so fun and nice. There are so many options if was almost overwhelming. My boyfriend and I got the "I Left My Heart in Yorkville". It came in a really cute heart shaped glass and had delicious ice cream on top. Although it looked complex it was pretty simple and tasted good. Definitely overpriced but all part of the experience! I would make a reservation and try it out for one drink. It's overall a fun and positive experience!

Solid neighborhood speakeasy bar that most may already know about. It's not hard to enter the bar if you can find the switch and possibly order the right flavor of ice cream. Yes, the drinks are still expensive and the menu is limited like many classy bars around the city, but the bartender works hard at making your drinks taste right. The inside decor is also unique. Take a look at the photos, you'll see paintings of rappers and a mix of classic Victorian styled art with modern day replicas of celebrities. I ordered the "Alice..." Cocktail drink, which includes a lemon twist and egg whites vigorously shaken by the bartender to create that great foamy taste. Another great perk to this bar is the location, located close to a few awesome restaurants around out your evening. Staff are friendly and there's free coatcheck.

It has easily earned a spot as one of my favorite bars of all time. The underground space flawlessly captures a raw, seedy, 1980s rock 'n' roll vibe, with eclectic decor that extends beautifully to the themed menus and custom glassware. Sitting at the bar was a highlight--the bartenders were fantastic, clearly proud of their craft, and they even humorously indulged my game of trying to guess the ingredients of each drink they mixed. The cocktail lineup is phenomenal. A few absolute highlights: the Purple Rain with its purple ice and peppercorn, the flambéed Dirty Dancing, a brilliant espresso martini riff called Flick The Bean, and Pure Temptation--which has glassware you just have to see for yourself. You need a password (easy to find online), and you go through a hidden door down a staircase. But it feels more like a novelty than anything else. NYC has way more iconic speakeasies, so this isn't somewhere I'd go out of my way for more than once. Nothing wrong with the vibe--it's Times Square, so you already know what you're getting--but it's definitely a one-and-done kind of spot. The drinks are good and super fun, but they're very extra (smoke, presentation, all that), so between that and how packed it gets, it can take a while just to get one cocktail. Didn't try the food. Overall, go for the pics and TikToks--it's perfect for that. I'd recommend checking it out once, but I don't really see it being a repeat spot.

From our initial trip last year, I had marked a place called Bar 369 Miroku located in Hell's Kitchen. Being that we didn't make our way to the spot on our trip last year, and were staying in Hell's Kitchen this time around, I wanted us to check out. The only challenge was actually finding it. If you're seeking out this gorgeous speakeasy. You aren't going to find it through some darkened alleyway or non-marked door of a building outside. No. You need to check the website and read between the lines of it being located within a sushi bar on West 46th Street. I could tell you the name, but what fun would that be? Figure that part out. But once you figure out how to access, the staff at said-sushi bar will direct you to the back of the restaurant to wheee you will see a sign for the bar and a stairwell to take you up to the second floor. Once you reach and look around, it looks at first you have reached a dead end between the emergency exit you see and a door that looks locked. There is a black curtain in the darkened hallway you need to notice and peer through. And alas, you will discover the bar that is Bar 369 Miroku. Once you have been checked for ID, and your party number, you are escorted into the small, darkly-lit enclave with plush decor, a bit of a Rolling Stones theme with its large poster hung in the back and artwork perched next to the bar shelving. It's an intimate and relaxed energy that makes it perfect to enjoy one of the Japanese-inspired cocktails on an evening after dinner. The hideaway offers a creative mix of craft cocktail options such as the Ichitaki Spritz (a variation of the Aperol spritz with sake in it), which was quite delightful that I enjoyed immensely within the dark lounge surroundings. If we were here more often, I would have taken advantage of their Japanese whisky selection that looked on point. There is a delectable charm to their curation and craftsmanship of their cocktails, combined with the luscious ambience that makes for a great hangout spot to get away and relax for the night. Bar 369 Miroku hits the mark regarding the speakeasy experience you would think to have when describing one, outside of not needing a password. The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.

It IS a small bar, but there were only about 4-5 folks here already, engrossed in a conversation at the bar that anyone could join. I quietly took a seat at one of the 3 tables on the plush high-top bench and the lone, friendly bartendress was immediately attentive (I was greeted the moment I stepped through the door!). Now, there's no ACTUAL liquor here, ONLY the beer and wine on the small menu, so don't try asking her to whip you up something not on the menu. Luckily for me, there was a fruity sangria special, so I opted for that, served with a decorative shark adornment and a metal straw, and was immediately given a little bucket of popcorn to accompany it. Now, this is part of the reason why I wanted to check this place out. Fresh popcorn is my weakness. Bars that give free snacks with drinks are top tier in my book. You could probably lure me into the back of a white van with a signature red and white filled popcorn bucket. So I sat, and I sipped, and I munched, and I listened to the conversation from the others, and the bartendress, god bless her, would check on my bucket and refill it any time it got low. Now I'm really a mixed drink girly, but the vibes were SO cool here that I would most definitely come back. :D Also note, there's cool little padded seating by the window that I noticed that would be great for people-watching outside.

Tucked into a very cool art deco hotel, the Rum House is a tiny little oasis amidst the insanity of Times Square. There was a guy at the door asking about reservations. We did not have one, but we were admitted regardless, and a friendly server / hostess informed us of the 2 drink minimum and seated us right near where the musicians were set up. The drink menu is a ode to rum. All kinds of rum; spiced, dark, overproof, high end. Most of the cocktails are tiki cocktails, but do not be turned off if you don't like sweet drinks! It's a myth that tiki cocktails are all sickly sweet. A properly crafted tiki drink will be a great balance between alcohol, sugar, mint and acid. These drinks were properly crafted! I honestly cannot remember what Larry and I ordered but all four of our drinks were delightful! You really can't go wrong with any of their rum cocktails. We were with Larry's brother, who is not much of a drinker. He ordered a whisky sour made with Crown Royal. The whisky sour was a surprising standout! The sour mix is house made (of course), which elevates this drink from an overly sweet attempt to cover up cheap whisky to a complex beverage that can be savored. The jazz was great - they had 4 musicians (kind of a lot in the small room) who played 2 songs before breaking and returning for another 2 songs, etc, etc. The short sets were welcome as they allowed for conversation between the entertainment. The Rum House is a great stop; don't miss it if you are in the area!

Regardless, I love the dark decor. Its not loud or anything, just a more relaxing environment for drinks where you can actually speak to each other. They have a huge selection of drinks, not too much to eat but there's plenty of restaurants in the area to handle that for you. The popcorn did smell good though. It was also the end of Happy Hour when we arrived. My husband got the 'Hot Buttered Rum' and I got the 'Escape' which was Bacardi 8yr Rum, Coconut Crème, Pineapple Juice, Sweet Vermouth. The drinks were STRONG. They are also pricy but the Hot Buttered Rum was part of Happy Hour so that helped. The service was super friendly, knowledgeable and quick. I would come back or recommend if you are in the area. It was a nice little place and glad I finally tried it.

We decided on the Wagyu sliders, Honey Sriracha Wings and Parmesan Truffle Fries. So glad we did bc all of our choices were fantastic. The sliders were served on a pretzel bun and the Wagyu melted in your mouth. The wings were perfectly cooked. They were smokey with the perfect amount of heat. The fries were just okay. They could have been cooked better or served "fresh." Overall we enjoyed our time at Dutch Fred's and would return after another show.

My husband started with the 'Paradise Found' drink which was koch elemental mezcal, passionfruit puree, pineapple, agave, lime. He loved it. He said it was very strong but one of the best drinks he has had. I got a 'Pom Pom Fresca' which was Pomegranate, blackberry, mint, seltzer. It was super refreshing. For an appetizer, we got the 'Chili Crisp Shrimp' which was Drizzled & Served with Spicy Ginger Chili Sauce. These were delicious; especially the sauce. For an entree, I got the 'Tomato Soup & Grilled Cheese' which was Roasted Tomatoes, Vegetable Stock of Onions, Garlic, Celery, Carrots, & Herbs. Served with a Buttered Grilled Cheese Dipping Sticks. It was just okay - nothing more, nothing less. The cheese was not melted and it was all just okay. My husband got the 'Smashed Burger' which was two 3-ounce Angus Beef Patties, American Cheese, Onion, Buttered Bun with Smash Sauce. Served with French Fries. He loved it and thought it was great burger. This place was pretty pricy. I don't think it was worth the $90 something dollars we spent. The service was quick and friendly. I don't know if I would go back. If I could give it 3.5 I would, but for now I will stick with 3 since the grilled cheese and soup could be have been better.
