The amount of ice cream was a little more than when I got a tayaki cone at the Lafayette location a month prior. However, they could give a little more ice cream for $8.23. I loved that the kiosk allowed me to skip the crazy long line although I had some issues using Apple Pay that fortunately resolved. I had some difficulty getting help at the beginning, likely due to the crowds. Location was also noisy. Were I to come back, I'd come on a weekday rather than a weekend. Uji Time Dessert is finally open, and right next to Tasty Pot, which I believe is the same owner for both places. Uji Time Dessert is a place that offers taiyaki ice cream as its primary pull, but also offers mochi ice cream, boba and other dessert options. But be aware it's not a full dessert place, like a Hong Kong style dessert place, so the menu variety is somewhat limited, but still enough to help provide a few options for those with a sweet tooth. Staff here are pretty friendly, so no complaints. When you walk in, it appears you have two options to order. You can either put in your order at the register, and speak with the person behind the counter, or there's a tablet to the side as well for you to just put your order in directly if you already know what you want and don't need to ask the staff any questions/recommendations. Pricing here is okay. For a dessert place, it's about on par pricing wise with similar offerings in the area, and comparable if you compare it to Devil & Angel Desserts, who also offers the same kind of sweets. My friend and I decided to try their taiyaki ice cream, which I was fairly hesitant to try in general because it's usually always terrible and not really taiyaki like. The taiyaki shell is typically rock hard, and just tastes like stale bread. For example, if you go to Devil & Angel who also offers taiyaki ice cream, it feels like I'm chewing on cardboard with that one. Needless to say, I wasn't exactly jumping to try it here either and had considered boba at first. They do also just offer the taiyaki by itself (not cone), but didn't try them this time but perhaps in the future visit. However, colored me impressed. Their taiyaki cone was actually quite nice. It's doughy soft, but still has enough of that crunch from the breading. And you can also choose what to smear the inside of your taiyaki shell with, which both my friend and I had gotten Nutella. Delicious. They also let you pick two toppings, such as pocky sticks, chocolate sticks, or some other options. I picked the vanilla and my friend picked the black sesame. The vanilla was good. Probably a tad different than your typical vanilla, but all the same tasty. The black sesame was probably more savory than sweet, but not for the lack of it being dessert, but the black sesame they used is not sweetened that much so most of the flavor you get will just be a straight black sesame. It works if that's what you're in the mood for. But overall, it's all of the different flavors and textures from the taiyaki, to the nutella, to the ice cream that all blends together so well. Makes for a tasty icey treat, which will be great for summer. Since it's next to Tasty Pot (and apparently owned by them too), there's no doubt that I will be back again. With 85c just a few stores down too, even more reason for me to drop by here on different days. Staff was helpful, and they're also pretty quick with getting the orders ready. I look forward to being back again in the future and trying out some of the other flavors with their taiyaki. I think their ice cream is thicker and richer and they have way more toppings to offer. All the other desserts they sell is nothing out of the ordinary.
