There are times when I'd rather tear my ears off than to go into that store. They seldom seem to have enough staff to check folks out, and this time was certainly no exception. We stood in the checkout line longer than we shopped for our items. Yes, I know that they are a beauty supply store that caters to women, but at least give more of a token presence for men's products! They have such a tiny section for those, that they might just as well have none. Most times, they seem to be poorly managed. Customers are allowed to completely monopolize a cashier by having him call all the surrounding stores to see if they have a particular product. Meanwhile, the checkout line continues to grow. This happens regularly. I'd love a better alternative! read more

This is a dangerous place to come if you are a product junkie like me. I planned on flat ironing my hair a few days after my visit so I wanted to shop around for the best blow dryer, conditioners, etc. I have only flat ironed my hair two times in the past 12 years so I wanted to be prepared. LOL Delora is the manager for Ulta and she is the one who assisted me. I told her what I was looking for and she walked around the store with me showing me products and styling combs that would work best for my hair. I ended up purchasing a Dyson blow dryer, Redkin Clarifying Shampoo, It's a 10 Moisturizing Shampoo, Deep Conditioner, Leave in Conditioner and a few combs. I didn't really pay attention to the prices until I came back the following week. The brand It's a 10 smells so good and I love their products. On my second visit, I picked up the deep conditioner and went to the register. When the young lady gave me my total, I looked at her and said "Oh I'm just getting this conditioner" her response, " Yes, that will be $42.00." She said it lasts for about six conditioning treatments. My hair is thick and it only lasted me one treatment. The product is good but I won't be getting that one again. I'll have to catch this one on clearance. LOL Overall, their customer service is great, they have a Salon in the back of the store. read more

I came here on Friday to get my hair curled. I had an important date that night. The guy (not ganna say names) was nice but oh my God he was awfully slow. My appointment was at 2 and I wasnt out the door till an hour later. How long does it take to curl hair!?!?! We didnt even wash my hair or anything and my hair is medium long. Also my hair was NOT the way I wanted it and he kept flatting out top of my hair which made no sense since I wanted volume! He was sleeking it down, WTF I dont want it sleeked down. I had to stop him and just leave. I was nice though cause I felt sorry for the guy, hes horrible. I wanted to cry when I got in my hair. Luckly for me I went home and was able to fix my awful curls. He just did it all wrong. They were hanging weird and all different places. I wont do their services ever again. Worst part is the lady that booked me, I told her my date was important. Do they not know the work of their "stylists"!? Couldve gave me someone who knew what to do. read more

Not so good customer service. No one even bothered to ask me if I needed help. When I did finally ask for help, the associate acted as if she didn't really want to assist me, like I was bothering her or something. This is the second bad experience I have had at Ulta. The first time was at a different location. I have seen videos of people complaining about Ulta bad customer service. I am starting to think that Ulta has a problem with black customers. This location is less than a 5 minute drive from my house but ever since May 2018, I try to avoid this location like the plague. I buy quite a lot of makeup. In fact, when they rolled out the Diamond program, I instantly became a Diamond member just with my prior purchases during the year. Let it be known that I have always enjoyed shopping at Ulta, the staff has previously been nice and I find what I need at great prices when stuff is on sale. But as they've brought more product offerings onto their site, their customer service has really gone down the shitter. I came in one day to do some returns. Because I work full-time, I will often gather all my returns over several orders and then do them all at once so yes, it may seem overwhelming to an employee processing them but it's convenient for me and I try to keep it organized to expedite the process. It has never been an issue until recently. Over the past 6 months or so, I've noticed employees have a really crappy attitude when processing returns (or maybe when you're making a purchase too, I just shop online to avoid that aspect of my experience). You'd think they were each paid on commission and every return affected their take home pay at the end of the night. I mean, who knows? Maybe the company rolled out a new bonus structure and less returns means more money in their pockets. I'm really not sure but I do have a background in sales and I have a tip for the staff: a SHITTY attitude WON'T earn you or your store future business and at the end of the day, your job is to do right by the customer to make sure they walk away with what they need or getting rid of what they don't. As long as the customer is within your return policy, they shouldn't feel ashamed or be ridiculed that they have to bring something back. So let's be clear that not EVERY employee here sucks but a good 50% of the folks who help me (and it changes every time almost) has some of the worst customer service and attitude I've ever seen in my life. I've had employees question why I didn't watch a review before buying an item and now have to return it, I've had a manager WALK AWAY FROM ME, I've had other employees just down right had a ton of attitude. I honestly don't get it. It's just pitiful...please spare yourself and just don't shop here. read more

This store is always sparkly clean and well organized, and the staff are extremely sweet and helpful.

We had a 2pm appointment today trying to give Ulta a 2nd change for redemption and they FAILED MISERABLY. Booked appt for what I was told over the phone was a multi tonal hair color and once we arrived that's not what it is. The young lady was short and said the pic are highlights which require more time and only booked for 2 hours. She could have offered us to reschedule since now we know what it's called and could have been a little nice instead of attitude in her voice. This could have gone different BUT here we are. I will never recommend any of there salons to anyone. I was wrong thinking if I go to a different location things will be different NOT AT ALL. read more

This location is pretty shitty. I didn't have a receipt for my return (which was a gift from a friend of mine who works for ulta). Went in there once, they said the friend has to be there. Called another store and they said that no they don't, so I went to the closer location (again) and this time, they said I couldn't do it without a receipt. So.. called customer service and they said it was up to the store for what to do with a blind return. Overall, the store has shitty customer service. The customer service was totally useless. Somebody tried to use my stolen credit card information here to buy over $500 worth of stuff, pretty sure it was one of the employees. They were not helpful at all in getting the issue resolved. Rude on the phone and dismissive about the entire ordeal. Be careful with your info and don't expect to get any worthwhile help at this location. The tall black chick with the uber hyper pigmentation is rude AF!!! She got snappy on me for asking if I can buy the samples. Since I didn't realize the items I picked up were samples, she went to check for the actual non sample items and told me they didn't have them in stock. I said well can I just buy the samples, I really need this make up and she rudely said no!!! as if I am suppose to already know that buying the actual samples wasn't an option. Her tone threw me off and immediate rubbed me wrong. So I had to get out of line and go find new items after standing in line 10 minutes because it was only her and another black woman cashiering. ( I'm using race for context so you know which women I am talking about) ( this was last night June 14th around 8 pm) So after I get my new item one would think she'd be like hey come back to the front of the line and check out since I had already stood in line so long just be told I couldn't purchase my things .. Nope but I see her peering over at me as if she's enjoying the fact I had to re stand back in the long ass line.. By the time I get back to her (I was praying the other cashier would come available first, since hyper pigmantations tone earlier rubbed me wrong and me catching her peering over at me as I stood back in line added to my pisstivity) Nope another 8 to 10 minutes I'm hella annoyed and just wanna check out, So she rushes through my check out doesn't say two words to me outside of asking if I had a phone number, then hands me my receipt and doesn't say have a nice day, thank you for coming anything .. As I'm walking away I hear HELLO really loud as she greets the next guest all joyful and in my opinion Sarcastic.. It's like having a sephora, armstrong McCall and hair salon all under one roof. I appreciate how they have great gift sets here for last minute gift decisions and also the faux lashes are great. A little pricier than what you would find at other beauty marts but these are nice bc they are double layered. They have a point system just like sephora too and are always running specials or had coupons for the week of some sort. read more

Disappointed with this location. Not all is bad, but I based my reviews on customer service. I shouldn't have to compromise on that. Today is the second day I come to this location needing help with the higher end product that I needed help with. There were two cosmetic ladies and one male at the makeup counter chitchatting. They made no attempt to greet me or knowledge me. I clearly made eye contact with all three of them. I was looking at the Anastasia products, when an employee got in front of me, to put a product away and walked away. The cashiers are much friendlier. They really need to retrain the employees at the higher end cosmetics section what is good customer service. I decided to leave and head to Sephora. Won't be coming back to this location, there's a lot more Ulta's and Sephora's that have great customer service. I will be calling corporate to make an official complaint. Also, 99% of the time they forget to give you the promotional product they advertise. This has happened to me twice!! read more

This location opened up a month ago and I've been here at least 6 times already. I LOVE it! Soooo glad one finally opened up in Carrollton, conveniently located off George Bush and Josey. The layout is the same as the other locations: drugstore items on the left, fancier things to the right, salon and tools toward the back. I've also visited their salon, but will save that for a separate review. The restroom at the back next to the salon is also nice and clean, a definite bonus since I tend to spend at least an hour browsing each time a come. Love that they have such a great selection of OPI nail colors as well as their own brand. The ladies that work here are very pleasant. They always greet you when you enter and also come around to help you find whatever you're looking for. I've gotten so much free stuff lately here, I have no idea when I'm going to use it all! This location just opened near me and I was so excited. You are like a kid in a candy store but with all kinds of makeup. What I really love about Ulta is they have a variety of makeup from high end to low end on price and they always have coupons and special perks for beauty members. The store is very neat and organized and everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. If you want to try on any makeup you can do it yourself or a beauty expert will do it for you, they have so much variety of perfumes for men and woman that you can try on. read more

I could spend hours in here just like Sephora, but in cheaper version of cosmetic products. The atmosphere is very clean and organized, always quiet though. The customer service here is outstanding. They always check on you and help you out when you need it! There are tons of testers you can try it out, especially perfume section is the bomb. I took one star out because some drug store cosmetic products are pricier than other stores. However, they always have good deals on that, like buy two get one free. Traveling in the Dallas area and needed a few things. I foolishly ignored the negative reviews. Those are the ones to pay attention to. I suspect that the problem may be a combination of things and clearly corporate is not paying attention. Store is a mess and extremely disorganized. Tried to find nail polish remover and found ONE bottle. Thinking this had to be a mistake I asked a very nice girl for help and she said "oh no, that's all we have left." I never used to think Ulta carried really good name brand stuff but in the recent years since I have shopped there, they seem to be getting better items and more of what I would go to the malls to buy. Ulta in Carrollton is conveniently located and very easy to get to. They have great sales and I think every time I have been in the store, I have left with little extras they always throw in the bag. At Christmas last year I purchased something and they were out of the bags that were free with the item....so they gave me my choice of whatever I wanted to go with it. I never walk in and have to ask for help, someone is always there to greet me. I recommend trying Ulta if you have never been there! read more

This place is day and night compared to the crappy Ulta I went to on Macarthur. Even though the other one is closer; I will never go there again and instead drive farther just to come here. Directions were clear, parking was plentiful, I walk in and instantly greeted, the store was clean and straight forward, fully stocked. The item that was on sale for the 21 days of beauty was right in front as I walked in and upon browsing there were more stocked in it's normal location :-D I found EXACTLY what I was looking for, didn't have to fight anyone for it and I also found a ton of other stuff I liked too! First not one employee greets anyone that walks in the door then I wanted to buy one of the naked palettes and I asked the lady if they had any because there were none by the display she proceeded to go to the front register and then ask me if I'm ready to check out I told her no I just got there and she would not even allow me to hold the product while I continue shopping I'm assuming she thought I would steal it! Everytime I walk into this Ulta it seems like the makeup ladies avoid talking to customers---kinda like they run and hide so they don't have to work? It has been the case EVERY SINGLE TIME. Even if they do walk by you they don't bother to ask if you need any help. If you flag them down they get mad. I even had one lady (cashier) tell me I HAD to buy something. She didn't take no for an answer and even walked away from her register to the aisle and showed me the item (when I was ready to pay for my stuff). She got irritated with me like I did not know what I was talking about. She gave me an attitude after I repeated myself several times I do not need the item. Do you think you're working at a car dealership or something, lady?!! I just go here to get what I need. I don't expect any help/assistance from the staff here at all. This Ulta is super convenient and close to my house. It's usually well stocked and filled with all a girl's wants and needs. The brow bar is always popping and the hair salon in the back is great. I got highlights and lowlights done at this Ulta before and they were amazing. If I could afford to get my hair done here every time, I definitely would. I hadn't been in a while just recently stopped in looking for the contour kit which they ran out and didn't know when they would be getting any in. One young lady asked me the other day and she was able to help me find a base that was nearly waterproof. She picked out my skin color right off the bat. The third time was the charm for my haircut at Ulta. Unfortunately, I don't have time nor patience for having to go back twice before it's done well. Perhaps if one has coarse, curly hair, it would turn out ok. My hair is straight and fine, yet was being cut as if it were curly. That just doesn't work. A young lady named Meya cut it the first time, and curled it all over. I left the salon happy, until I arrived home and the curls had fallen out, exposing the jagged, extremely uneven haircut. Yikes. I immediately drove back to Ulta, but it was 7pm on a Saturday, and I was told I would have to wait until Tuesday morning to get a "cut correction" appointment with the salon manager, Shay. So, I waited a couple of days to get it fixed, determined to avoid taking out my scissors and attempting to cut off the long strands myself. Shay took quite a bit of time correcting the uneven cut; but since she did not wash nor even wet my hair, her cut was not even, either. She trimmed and trimmed; but I finally went home because I didn't want my hair to get any shorter. At home, I immediately washed my hair, and then it was evident that there were still several strands which were much longer in places than the rest; so I went back to Ulta again. I felt bad that Shay was in a meeting/conference call, and I appreciate that she left it to help me for a few more minutes with my hair. She cut off the offending long strands, and the hairdo finally started behaving as it should. Hooray! At least I should have a few weeks of fairly decent-looking hair while I find another salon. read more

If I could give this location 0 stars, I would. Came in to see if I could finally give translucent powder to give "baking" a try. I needed some new foundation & other products. I was asked if I needed help when I first walked in(which was great) but after telling the curly haired lady that I need foundation & I know we can't try it out here but I still needed help matching it, she said their return policy is great so if I buy something that doesn't work I can only return it then walked away.. so I went around looking for things but had no idea where to even start. I finally went to ask someone else for help. She was new & claimed she was only posted for the benefit area & products so she didn't know much. She went to go ask the same curly haired lady for help & I watched her question if the other(NEW) employee knew where to find the things that I was looking for & directed her where to go & then walked away again. You could tell that this newer employee needed direction & to be told about their products & although I appreciate her trying to help me, the other woman should've taken us both to teach her employee & to help me with finding products. Only come here if you want horrible service & already know what products that you're looking for. Come to find out the lady that wouldn't help me is a supervisor. So unprofessional. read more
