I was nervous to go here for a foundation match because they have horrible customer service reviews but WOW I was pleasantly!! I had only taken 2 steps in and was already greeted. Giving 4 stars for the service I've received and the Brow Benefit Bar, which I've been using for almost 2 years now. Shelby, and others at the Brow Bar, are super consistent in their brow waxing and I appreciate that they use a standard process for outlining and creating a shape for your brows before they wax them. Its not very expensive, and sometimes I even throw in a lip wax. I also appreciate that they will apply brow color or concealer to hide the redness if you want, though my skin is too sensitive for such things. The store overall I have found to be very clean and well organized. I don't remember ever being treated like I didn't belong, although I'm not a make up fashionista. On the contrary, everyone has always seemed very helpful and kind. I'm going to keep visiting Ulta at Rookwood for as long as they have their brow bar and great service. read more

Cashier Kaitlyn had poor customer service. I came to return a curling iron that I received online, because I got it as a gift for my mom not realizing she already had a brand new one. I got to the register, I greeted her kindly and explained to her that I wanted to return the iron I received online.. She gave a look of haughty disdain. As a Latina woman I really felt like my race had to do with it. After the looks and attitude she was giving me, I realized she had no intention of being polite. So I stopped being kind and I gave her the same energy she was giving me. I remember locking eyes with her and I can feel the tension! I have worked in customer service for several years, and I can say I would never make any one feel as uncomfortable as she made me feel. There is no reason for this kind of behavior. read more

Weird. This would be my 3rd time shopping at this location and the last two times there was no customer service available which is fine because I usually know what I want. I'm in and out of the store in minutes. Check out is pretty quick. I read reviews where the assistance at this store is very hard to find. But this visit was nice, someone walked up to me and asked if I needed help. I actually did! I needed to know if they had a certain item in stock (Bare Minerals touch up veil in SPF). They were out of stock, but they did have another substitution which worked for me (Bare Mineral Bareskin Perfecting Veil). The lady was very helpful, patient and took the time to answer my questions. I bought other Bare Mineral products along with the other item. I usually go to the Kenwood Mall to buy those products, but it was more convenient for me to stop by Ulta because it was closer to home. I was looking around the store and it looks very organized and well stocked. The pricing is reasonable as well. They have sales and specials from time to time. I highly recommend signing up for emails and join their rewards program (free to sign up). FYI, if you use your rewards to redeem/make a purchase and need to return it, you will not get the rewards back. I heard this lady at the counter and felt really bad for her because she bought a really nice curling iron that cost over $100.00 and lost the rewards. This was a good experience for me (this time). I generally buy most of my makeup at Sephora, but sometimes I get things at Ulta if they're Ulta exclusives (i.e. Tarte Shape Tape concealer). I really like that Ulta gives discounts and coupons pretty regularly, which Sephora never does, but make sure you read the fine print because sometimes high end brands are not included. This particular Ulta is pretty well-stocked but some times they're out of certain shades which can be frustrating. Also I don't think that the people that work here are very helpful (at least compared to Sephora or MAC). They can never properly shade match me, so I usually end up doing it myself. read more

I stopped by here on my lunch break to grab a face moisturizer. I am not super familiar with all the different brands or types of moisturizers (there are so many!). When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by a staff member who asked if she could help me find anything. I asked her for help finding a moisturizer for my face, as I have been having a bit of super dry skin and wasn't even sure where to begin. She led me to an aisle and showed me her recommendation. She told me why she recommended that particular brand and how it effected her skin. She also mentioned several other locations in the store where I could continue my search or I could head over to one of the specialty counters for specific advice. I appreciated her recommendation and purchased the product. I also purchased another product from the same brand. Both a daily moisturizer and a night time one. Fortunately, there was an in store special - buy one get one 50% off within the brand I was purchasing. I get up to the counter to purchase - and wow! This stuff is kind of expensive! I made the purchase and went back to work where I did a quick Amazon search to find the product was the same price as I had paid with the discount. I appreciate the level of service, but the products are a tad over priced. I ended up paying what I would have on Amazon because of the coupon in store, but I will make future purchases on Amazon. read more

Went in for a trim and was shocked to see several inches cut off. I've been trying to grow out my hair for years, and I'm so sad. The cosmetologist was very nice, but she didn't listen to what I asked. She also cut my hair behind my back, so I couldn't really see what was happening. Before she blow dried my hair she asked if I like to add volume, and I said no. She put a bunch of product in my hair and tried to make it big any way. I went home and washed it all out. Again, everyone was nice. But they didn't listen, and I'm so upset. read more

I came to this Ulta today 12/18/22 around 2:15pm to return a curling iron. Everything was going great, the greeters and the workers on the floor, until I got to the register. From the minute I walked up to the register an employee named Katelyn or Kaitlin with a bunch of ear piercings looked at me and my sister with pure disgust. I still continued to greet her(which should be her job) she was very rude! I was being as polite as I could and she was still being rude and had a big attitude! Nothing like the other cashiers I overheard helping others! I never write reviews but I would not want anyone to to deal with their hair falling out or breaking due to being over processed because a stylist did not choose the correct color and dye product... I had been going to Ulta Kenwood for 6 months. Once before the same stylist made a mistake on my root touch up and highlights. It took her over 3 hours to fix the color issue. I let it slide since I figured she was young and learning That was a big mistake on my part to contiring using the stylist. On my last appointment in April she turned my light brunette hair black with platinum highlights. This was supposed to be just a root touch up with partial foils!!! The stylists had no idea how to fix the mess and there was not another stylist around. I even asked her if she had someone to call who might be able to help her. She then said her department manager used to be a stylist. The manager stopped by and only gave her input after the the stylist wanted to use bleach the black out! They decided a full highlights would fix the color. The manager had the nerve to inform they were not going to charge me for the full highlight. The full highlights made the color worse and hair brittle. Since it was 9:00 PM and I had been there for over four hours I just asked the nervous stylist to blow dry it out. She could completely dry the hair since it was breaking and frizzy. When I got up to leave the stylist walked away. The department manager came over and told me "she did not think she would be able to make me happy". She did not offer to fix the hair color or make an appountment with a season stylist. Instead she flagged my name in the ULTA system and noted not to accept any appointments at that location for me. All Ulta locations are able to see these notes!! The manager then had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to leave a tip. I was not looking for a free color and cut. I just wanted a professional root touch up with partial highlight. Fixing the mistake has cost me alot of money and time. Black hair is tough to lighten. Please note there are many Ulta's that have great stylist. Try Western Hills or Newport. read more

Awesome Ulta store! I am an Ulta regular but my favorite is when the Ulta store offers all the products you want. I'm not a fan of how it depends on the Ulta store you are at to determine what product they have. However, I was very impressed with how large the store was and how it included all the high end and low end brands. It carries Mac products, Estée Lauder, and has a nice selection of Morphe! I also found all the ladies in the store to be very helpful and nice from the moment I entered the store to when I checked out. I will be coming back for sure to purchase products in the future! Ulta really is a one stop shop as long as you know exactly what product and brand you want. They have everything you could ever want, but their employees really have very little knowledge of the products they sell or how they should be used. If you have questions or would like some basic directions or recommendations, I would head over to Macy's and spend some time with an actual product/brand specialist who can help you as an individual instead of just telling you what is selling the most at the current time. Once you know what products you like seeing in your makeup bag, Ulta is a great place to run in and replenish quickly. Looking for a one stop shop with more knowledge? I love Ulta to begin with, but now I love it even more since I got my hair done at the salon! I went to the Ulta in Rookwood and Mark did my color and style. Now, this is the first time I ever colored my hair-ever! And I couldn't be happier. Mark really listened to what I wanted (and didn't want) and it came out so great. My hair is long and thick, so it took 3hrs from start to finish and he put his all into it and even styled it beautifully-I was ready to paint the town! I am now going to be a repeat client of Mark's and highly reccommend anyone going to him for any hair needs you may have! read more

First, I am a HUGE ULTA FAN! It is my go to store for any make-up, hair product, etc. need, I can seriously walk around this store for eva! However, this store....this store is another story.....the customer service here is seriously lacking. They are more interested in talking to each other than they are in helping their customers. :-( BOO! This store literally offers everything you need, yet trying to get someone to help you find something or actually use the coupon you give them seems like you are asking for the world. I pulled up my coupon from my Ulta app on my phone and gave it to the cashier, she turned it around, she scanned my Ulta card, then she did not scan my coupon.....which I did not realize until after we left and were on the way home. Since this is not my "home" store, we did not go back....I realize it was only $3.50 in savings, but the point is she turned the phone around, then did not scan the coupon that was there in front of her. - Also, yes I should have been watching her, but my boyfriend and I were talking about running into one more store before we left the area. This review is for THE SALON at Ulta. The hairstylist is Mark. He did a fabulous job in cutting my hair. Gentle and caring hands when shampooing my hair. He was gentle with the comb and hair blower. He isn't too chatty like some hairstylist but can carry a good friendly conversation. He sings and hums which is nice. It makes you feel that he is happy with whatever he is doing. The only thing I wish he will be more conscious and as a courtesy to clients who doesn't smoke is to air out his shirt because smell of cigaret still envelopes his arms/hands/shirt. Perhaps spray some deodorizer before meeting clients. read more

I'm a frequent shopper at the Ultas throughout the city and I popped in quickly one day to check out this new location. The store setup is easy to navigate and doesn't feel as cramped as others I have visited. While the shopping experience was pleasant, checking out wasn't. The patron I was with received an offer for getting 3x the points on their purchases as a rewards remember, which I am as well. I did not get the offer. When I approached the counter, I asked why I wasn't receiving the same benefits. The girl I spoke with told me she was the manager, and that she didn't know why simply because she is an employee and isn't allowed to get rewards benefits. I'm amazed that someone would come out and say that they're the manager, but they don't know anything about the rewards program they ask everyone to sign up for. Every time I go to Ulta in Rookwood the employees are always so nice and friendly. I always get greeted and asked if I need help. The store is very organized and always clean. I recently went into Ulta the other day and one customer was giving the manager on duty and employee a very hard time. The manager and employee kept very calm. I felt bad for them because this lady was being absolutely rude and talking down to them but they remained professional and handled the situation the best they could. As mother of the bride I was very confused as to how and why a newer grad was given my daughter's makeup and hair appointment on her wedding day. She did go in for a trial makeup appointment, however it was very clear the stylist was unsure of what she was doing with my daughter's very long hair, and when we repeatedly said we had to leave by a certain time for the wedding, she was did not try to speed the process up. She did not even replicate the style my daughter had a photo of... : ( Even though my daughter said she it was OK, she was very disappointed, as was I. Wishing we had not spent so much money to only be unhappy with the results. The stylist who did my, and my other daughter's makeup was fabulous - just wish I could remember both of their names to post here. Absolutely horrific service! I am typically a sephora customer but thought I would try Ulta because I was shopping at Rookwood and liked the idea of convenience. No one greeted me. I had questions but no sales associates offered to help. Tried to check out and was rudely told I was at the wrong counter. Got to the correct check out line and was happy to see only one guest in front of me. Quickly lost any happiness when I waited in line for about 10 minutes! I will never be back. Horrible service, rude employees. As someone who works in the service industry myself I was horrified to be treated the way I was treated. I do not recommend Ulta from rockwood because I had a terrible experience there today with the manager and employee. So, yesterday I called them and ask if I could exchange/ return some Mac makeup that I bought online, and the lady from the phone said that I could. So, today I drove all the way back there with the makeup's That I want to exchange and return and the cashier said that they can't accept since I got from Mac website and not from Ulta. Alright, she called her manager and the manager came and said that I couldn't do the transaction there and they gave me fake information on the phone. I told the manager and cashier that next time they should give right information because I called before making sure I could do that there and I wasted my time going back there. So, the manager and the cashier turned around and left me on the cashier by myself . She didn't even said I'm sorry or is there were something else that she could help me or anything. If I have something that I would like to purchase at that time I wouldn't be able to, because they just left me on the cashier by myself. I would not expect a manager have that reaction. It was VERY VERY RUDE and I would never go back there anymore. She should have said I'm sorry about that, they gave you wrong information on the phone or something. But, she just turned around without saying ANYTHING. It was very upset because I really like buying stuff there, but now I won't go back there anymore. read more

The staff is weird- they talk amongst themselves by never try to help you(the customer). I walked in and theres staff around but they were all busy in their own conversations. One of the staff was actually making a sample for another coworker, while I had not been acknowledged or helped in any way. Sephora is much better. Betsy was awesome!!!!! She was so helpful with helping me select a gel nail kit for my mom this Mother's Day. When she noticed me looking at other nail polish colors in addition to the kit, she mentioned they had some nail polish collections for the gel kit I was purchasing on sale and helped me find the on sale colors. At the register, the price for the gel kit didn't ring up correctly. Betsy immediately came over to help solve the issue. It turns out the items weren't stocked in the correct place, and the item I was looking at was about $30 more expensive than the tag they were all stocked under. I was a little disappointed that my item wasn't on sale, until Betsy said she would give me the sale price! I was shocked that she was going to honor the price even though the items were stocked under the wrong sku tag. Great service!!!! read more

My 50-something skin is suddenly staging a collapse after a period of very slow decline and I needed help finding a better primer and foundation, and a new eye makeup strategy to distract from my neck and cheer me up. Though she is quite young, she has an excellent understanding of my aging concerns and has a real artist's eye. Highly recommend! I called to see if they had any appointments available for their brow service and a friendly representative put me on hold for at least 3 minutes to check on availability. What sounded like a different rep came on the line and informed me they were booked for today but had availibility on monday and tuesday. I started to explain that wouldnt work for me as i needed a weekend appointment and before i could ask for an appointment she said "ok thanks for trying with us. Goodbye" and hung up! She didnt even offer to set up an appt for next weekend or even allowed me to finish my sentence. So rude! Ive never used their services before so i wouldve been a new customer. Lousy first impression. This Ulta location just opened so I made a special trip here rather than trusty Sephora. There were hardly any customers in the store yet I could NOT get anyone to help me find what I was looking for. The 2 staff members I could find were in long conversations with other people and didn't even acknowledge me after standing next to them each for several minutes. It was super frustrating. Finally I was able to get their attention and they had no idea where to find the brands I was looking for. After walking through the aisles together the sales girl admitted she had no idea. I really want to like this store bc it has so many beauty products under one roof, but after having yet again, another bad visit, I think I should save my time and frustration and shop somewhere else. I will say my first few poor visits my complaints were more about slow check out (understaffed), coupons not covering most of the store (fine print vaguely says "prestige brands, when you go to website to get definition of this it is a mile long and basically excludes everything I get there) and a very snotty male employee that basically told me I need the makeup I was shopping for (in a gay-diva voice), this time my displeasure was more about price. I went in knowing exactly what I wanted. I was in the shopping center and thought a quick run in would save me time. I was shocked that time price was 20% more than the price at Target. I asked if they the price match, and the response was that they only price match other Ulta stores. I found a 20% off coupon which got the price to the Target price, but now that I know the stores mark up in comparison to other drug stores, I will save myself the time and money and just go to Target. I really don't want to give this place one star. I also wish that I had looked at the name tag of the woman who decided to approach me and my 12 yr old daughter and 14 yr old niece, two days ago. I walked in and went to the back of the store and grabbed two big bottles of Kenra shampoo. I then came to the makeup section and began letting my niece tell me what type of makeup I should by. I had a few selections from Naked and Tarte. My total was climbing upwards of $320, when a store associate approached me and my girls and said we need to back up away from the makeup counter because they like to keep that area sanitary. I admit, my hair was wind blown from riding around in my 2016 convertible 5.0 GT Mustang and I did have flip flops on because it was a hot day. So I may have looked a little bit of a mess. MY WALLET, however, WAS NOT MESSY! She embarrassed me and my family and disrespected us. I left everything sitting there and told her she must not want my money. I was very upset. Women like her should not work in an industry that's supposed to support women and uplifts them and make them feel beautiful! read more

I loveeeeee Ulta especially this one, I had been going to the Kenwood location and visiting the Benefit Brow Bar, then Marcus moved to Rookwood which is closer to my home anyways, the transition has been great, all the employees are extremely nice and helpful and always willing to run around the store with me while I decide what I am going to buy! This Ulta location seems to be understaffed most of the time I go in. It's tough to find someone in the store to ask for assistance. The Brow Bar deserved 5 stars. I recommend it to everyone I know. However, the brow services through the salon deserve 1 star. It's the same price, but they don't take the time to shape them properly or even go through and tweeze what was left behind. There was also wax left on my face when I left the store, and no soothing gel applied to them so I left with lots of redness. For $21, it is my expectation that I will not have to tweeze them and clean them up when I get home. Make sure you book your brow appointment through the Brow Bar and NEVER through the salon. read more
