I had an interesting experience with Anita. She is very sweet but doesn't really listen to what you want. I showed her a picture of what I wanted (I am brunette with no blonde highlights but some fading) I wanted to refresh my color, the picture I showed had red undertones. She put huge chunky blonde nothing like I wanted! Looks horrible and dry she did an awful job blending and started highlights about an inch away from hairline looks grown out a month already. Thankfully I called the store and salon manager gave me a refund. Corporate did nothing to help me. Also the "estimate" was $160 I was charged $250. Definitely not quality work read more

I'm sorry to read that others haven't experienced the outstanding customer service I have from this store. I shop here frequently and most often have nothing but the best from each member of staff I encounter. I've had my makeup done here several times (always great.) The rep in the cosmetics section always seems to be a cut above in knowledge and skill. From managers to sales staff to cashiers...I've been impressed with the consistent quality of top-level customer service. If you have any issues, I encourage you to speak to a manager directly. Any problem I've had has been resolved to my satisfaction. Unlike some other retailers, they like to say "let's see what we can do" instead of "no!" This place has everything you need, except for a fast check-out. Literally every single time I'm here I wait in line for at least 10 minutes. You can't take 2 steps in this place without a sales associate harassing you on the floor, but when You go to check out there's only 1 register open, a line down the aisle and more often than not, another person behind the counter doing nothing. It's infuriating. It's gotten to the point where I won't go unless I have a long list of things to get because it's not worth the wait/hassle for 1 item. I'm torn between giving this place 1 or 2 stars. The selection and convenience of the location being about 1/2 from my house is the ONLY reason I shop here in a pinch. But every time I do I find myself wonder why? Why do I keep going to a store that has such rude staff? Not everyone is, there are a just a couple friendly helpful people which I have found are actually vendors repping other products. The employees though, oh my F... isn't it your job to answer questions when someone needs help? They act annoyed and dismissive when asked a basic question as if they are trying to walk away from you. I wish corporate would do an internal review with secret shoppers. I know people who refuse to shop at this location because the employees are so bishy. I avoid this Ulta even though it's 5 minutes from my house for all the reasons already mentioned in other reviews... but had a time constraint so headed in with low expectations. Kila did my lashes today for a photo shoot and they were awesome! She is knowledgeable, understands not only her products - but how to use them to make everyone look their best! If everyone else in that store were like Kila, there would be no reason to go anywhere else. Tried the salon for highlights with Amy and my hair is perfect!! I'd been doing my own and last time it came out a little brassy plus had roots (and a few gray hairs). love this location but not too long ago I was in this store and was assisted by the manager Cynthia. Not only was she unknowledgeable in cosmetics but she was incredibly demeaning and unprofessional to both clients and employees. Cynthia rolled her eyes at my questions and spoke down to me like a child. Ended up leaving empty handed. Knowing others have voiced their concerns regarding this manger and ulta continuing to do nothing about it discourages me from shopping at ulta again. Wish I could leave zero stars. The manager greeted me that was nice but when I walked in there was two girls doing each other's makeup I didn't even know they were employees they seem to just be having a good time. I had to go up to the manager that was working the front cash register alone to ask where a certain mascara was. She then directed me to one of the employees that she signaled on the headset. The employee's stopped her conversation and pointed me to the pur line. This young lady didn't ask me what I was looking for she did she had no concern whatsoever. So once she pointed me to the section I looked around for a quick second and ask her where is the mascara and then she pointed me to where the mascara was. Before she could run away I said I had another question which was a simple one she pointed me in the direction and returned to her conversation. I don't know if they completed all their stock but what I wanted they didn't have in stock and I did not ask or bother the ladies anymore and the manager was already working hard with a line in the front all this a happen around 7:40pm Friday night. read more

This location is so much better than the one near my house (Bella Terra). The staff at that location are rude and just generally miserable. I have been frequenting this location recently and the staff here are 1000x more friendly, approachable, helpful. They greet you when you enter. They are smiling. They ask if they can help, and let you know their name if you need to find them later. I have not yet had an unpleasant experience here. Also the store is well stocked and organized. I just experienced the worst customer service ever at this location. My daughter wanted to spend her birthday Visa Gift Card here. While checking out their system took her first 2 cards totaling $55 but then wouldn't take a third card for the $6 balance. So they turned off the register to move to another one and try again. But this time the gift cards were declined. They said there's nothing they could do. I now had to call Visa. Which I have tried repeatedly with no resolve. Cards show 0 balance because of their system and I have nothing to show for it. The manager was so rude and took no responsibility for their caused by their system. Unbelievable. read more

The staff here does not seem to have any knowledge of the products. This is the worst location of Ulta.The current manager at this location was rude and disrespectful. She preferred to argue with me instead of help me. Today, I wanted to buy more cosmetics; however she rejected me and said I only can buy 4items for each one. She was inconsistent with the policy I've experienced at other ULTA stores. This store is really hit or miss. The store manager is super friendly! She checked me out the other day and was bee kind and helpful and made sure I knew about the 5x Tarte points since I was buying all Tarte products. (Oh, trust me, I knew.) Unfortunately, most of the other staff member are actually quite rude. I heard the lady who was working the Benefit bar telling a customer, who was looking for an eyebrow product for her sister who has cancer and does not have any hair on her brows, something terrible and condescending. When the customer asked I heard the lady say "We have nothing that can help her." and then walked away. UHM excuse me?! There's pencils and stencils and all sorts of different products you can use if you have no hair!! I was flabbergasted someone would be so rude. A few of the cashiers are nice, sometimes. This Ulta is my neighborhood go-to for makeup and haircare. I am a big Urban Decay fan, (they just keep improving in quality imho) and I always swing into this Ulta for their products. I have not yet tried their salon, so this review is only for the retail/makeup etc. side. I have to say, I absolutely, never, ever have had a bad experience here. The manager (don't know her name, but she's a tall woman and I've never seen her without her hair in a ponytail or bun) has always been super nice, as has literally every single employee I've met there. Another thing about the manager is that she has always seemed not just nice but *genuinely* nice, not saccharine-y, phony nice, which makes a big difference to me. Because I live close by I sometimes have my dog with me when I walk in and (as long as I'm not near the salon, that's a code violation) everyone is so sweet and even fusses over him. I really think the people are what make this store a repeat stop for me. Ordinarily I would pass by a store like Ulta in favor of getting makeup and hair care at either my salon or a department store - I had been a long-time devotee of Sephora, for example - but this Ulta has always been such a welcoming place that I'll continue to return. read more

The ONLY reason I am giving this location 2 stars is because AJ was very helpful in helping me find one of the items I needed. I was actually greeted for the first time ever at this location when I walked I as well, so I thought maybe they stepped up their customer service game...NOPE! One other lady asked how I was doing, I wish I got her name cause she was nice to offer help but I no longer needed assistance. But as for the rest of the multiple associates in this store, they were rude and not friendly. I walked up to 2 girls who were talking about the products they just got in and wanted to buy. I didnt want to rudely interrupt so I waited a few seconds thinking they would notice they have a customer in need of assistance and save their personal conversation for later. (I was literally standing 2 feet away from them so they would see me) Well that didn't happen, I had to interrupt and apparently this was an inconvenience for them. At least it seemed that way. I work in retail and any time I see a customer nearby I ask if they need help before anything else! Because that's what you're supposed to do! It's your JOB!!! How do you expect to make sales if you can't even pay attention to your customer?! Of course they always only ever have one cashier. She was nice until I had to come back in because she forgot not one but two of the gifts I was supposed to get. When I walked back into the store, I walked back to the product I purchased to make sure I read them correctly and, sure enough, both signs said I was supposed to receive gifts. When I went back to the cashier I told her of both of the promotions and she said 'oh I dont think you spent enough for the one but here' .....thanks for trying to be nice but i actually DID purchase the correct amount. Instead of apologizing, she also seemed inconvenienced and annoyed that I even came back to get them. It was YOUR mistake you forgot them, don't act like I was being rude by asking for what I was supposed to get in my bag the first time I walked in. The staff tend to be very aloof when I walk in. I do think they judge clientele based on looks, but that seems to be a common factor at any cosmetics & beauty supply store. I tend to come in here on weekends when I don't feel like putting my best face forward, so I often get ignored. That suits me just fine when I usually know what I want and don't particularly feel like being social. I did try the hair services once because my last stylist wasn't available. I got a haircut that was fine at least initially. However, it didn't grow out very well, and I think the stylist I had wasn't quite sure how to work with thick Asian hair. Overall, the beauty products selection is pretty good when you know what you want. Usually, you can be in and out of here pretty quick. Sometimes the line gets long, and it doesn't seem like management makes an effort to open up more registers. I can't judge too much about the salon services since I've only tried it once. The most pathetic location of Ulta ever. Never any stock and the management seems incompetent. AJ and Cheyenne were useless with our holds and orders. Telling us products were in and would be on hold only to not be there when I arrived. I placed a curbside order online as I have done several times with other locations and this is the only location to EVER cancel my online order. Even after quarantine. I've probably place 10 orders in 3 weeks. Id rather travel 100 miles then come back here. My sister and I were so disappointed and dissatisfied as she was the one who complained to management. So pathetic. This location should have stayed closed. Don't waste your time at this awful Ulta. Spend your good money elsewhere. read more

So this is a review for the salon. I had a classic blowout with Ivan and he was great! I asked for a blowout with a round brush- so it was curled at the ends. I purchased a pair of eyelashes and asked the sales person if they offer eyelash application, and then she referred me to the Benefit bar, she told me that the employees there would help me apply them. I went over to the Benefit Bar area, and spoke to Lauren. I asked her if she can help me apply the eyelashes, the first thing she told me was "you need to have full makeup on" first off, I don't wear a lot of makeup and it's not her concern about my makeup. I told her I will not be applying any eye makeup, and if she can just help me with the applying them, she then cut me off, and said I have to wait two hours for her to be available. I really felt that she was just trying to find an excuse not to help me and just dismiss me, first she said I need makeup then she said she is busy. The store was empty and she was just plain rude! Her makeup was done terribly compared to all the ulta employees. So maybe she just does not know how to apply eyelashes and makeup. I wish she shared that instead of being rude. read more

I regularly go to the Benefit Brow bar at the Ulta in Costa Mesa. I had an appointment for this morning. When I arrived they had an Ulta person come over to the Benefit Brow bar to do the service because the Benefit person was not there. I received my services AT the Benefit Brow bar with BB bar products. I had a 20% off coupon which included the BB bar, however the manager refused to honor it because a BB bar person did not do the service. It was a total scam. I am by no means a regular or expert. I go to Ulta locations for wife's favorite makeup when she runs out. These places have everything you need and sometimes it can be easy to get lost. First time at this location. Had to stop real quick to run in and grab 1 item. Large location and luckily didn't seem busy at all. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the cashier and I asked for directions. She walked me over and pointed it out. Staff was very friendly and place was clean and organized. In comparison to my experience at the one in Bella Terra mall, staff here is friendly and more willing to help. If I could put 0 star I would !! I went with brown hair to do highlights and have all over color blonde ,I told the stylist that was doing my hair ,i don't want yellow nor brassy nor orange color!! I asked her several times before doing my hair is it going to be orange or copper color she told me NO I wanted ash blonde and she told me it will not be ash from the first time but at least it won't be orange !! I asked her how much she said 150 and maybe 10 or 15 $ more if your hair will use more products ! 4 hours later my hair is orange orange ,she told me after the toner it will be ash ! Did the toner yet orange !! Long story short ,I had to leave cus I was too tired to argue or even try to change anything as I had bleach on my hair for 4 hours !!! Anyways when I went to pay I was given a 266$ bill !!!!! I paid I don't know why I did but as I said I was too tired to even talk !
