I have been going to this Ulta location for almost a year now. Everytime I go in I feel as if I'm been watched the entire time by security and staff, but have just brushed it off because I thought I was overthinking it. Yesterday I was followed around the store as soon as I entered, not a single employee "serviced" me. The security guard just followed and kept pacing behind me. Finally a manager or someone spoke to them. I do not appreciate being profiled based on what look like and what I'm wearing. I work in retail and this is completely inappropriate. But as an Ulta member and as I have an Ulta credit card I also find myself questioning why I even shop at Ulta. Every time it is an unwelcoming environment while I'm just trying to run my errands. read more

Honestly these employees can't be anymore incompetent. Got an automated text and confirmation call for my wax appt. I show up and check in, come to find out that there's no girl doing the waxing. I always come to this Ulta whenever i have to buy anything that has to do with skin care, make up or hair. Last time i went to this Ulta i needed a daily face cleanser. I decided to go with this Tula cleanser because i heard nothing but great things about it. This Ulta is pretty big and has a lot of options. Also the associates are super nice. I recommend going on a weekday that way you can find parking right away and close by because on a weekend that area can get a little busy. read more

Recently I visited the Edgewater Ulta. I was able to buy the product I needed. Most of the staff was friendly and helpful. HOWEVER, there was one manager, a blonde woman, who was extremely condescending to the staff. I met this manager as well, she was snooty and quite tough with me - I'm a customer! I believe she is new to Ulta and feel you would like to know this about her. This cosmetic store is now one of my favorite places in Edgewater since it carries Proactiv brand. The place is huge and is stocked with many popular brand items. It also has a salon in the back. It's a cool place to shop around and test some products. Many of them smell so good that I will definitely go back when I need to restock for home/office. First I have to say that Fatima and her staff at this store are the best!!! The moment I walked in Fatima greeted me and I had 3 different staff helping me to find what I was looking for. I found Flesh foundation for 50% off and got a great color match. Lots of other things that I can't find elsewhere like Ouai hair products and revolution beauty. If you weren't happy with this store before, most def give it another try. I booked a make up appointment with Devyn on September 14th to have my make up done on November 11th for an event. She calls me TWO DAYS before my event to tell me that someone booked this slot in October and that she is unable to do my make up. I explained to her that I booked this appointment in SEPTEMBER so it's impossible for me to have booked over someone that booked only one month ago. And I have the confirmation text to prove it. I get to Ulta a little before 4 and upon arrival I was asked what I was there for so I told the young lady that I was there for hair and makeup and she looked in the computer and said I only have u doWn for makeup, she went and got someone else who insisted I onlY made a makeup appt. Salon review only. Victoria is a really good stylist. My hair looks and feels fabulous. I liked the products she used and I appreciate that she didn't pressure me to buy them. The pricing is ridiculous. Adding a trim to a $65 service shouldn't be $45. A trim and a haircut should not be the same price. But it is what it is. If I'm back in town and need my hair done I would absolutely go to Victoria again. And from what I saw while there they employ many very talented stylist and colorists. read more

I had a very, very, very bad feeling from the get go because she was coloring and foiling my hair from the middle down only. But Im not a professional so I figure she knew what she was doing. WORST COSTUMER SERVICE! Each time i shop i spend nothing less than 200$ Lady at register made so many mistakes with charging Totally disoriented (i believe she was busy either tired)but hey if she doesent wanna be there thats not my problem its Ultas problem! On the end i asked to use the coupon i had,her answer was that the coupon is expired I checked and of course coupon had 20 extra days.... When I returned she said oh i am sorry about that But what i need is i need to do refund and than charge again so coupon will apply IS THAT MY PROBLEM AGAIN? I came just for a simple cut as advertised on yelp and I was so impressed by the level of service provided with no intention to upsell on this visit. I like Ulta and find their staff friendly and accommodating. (The one in Harrisburg, PA, by contrast, was horrible so it took me a while to start going into this one when I moved back). For the most part, I find the staff has a fair amount of product knowledge and I got a great bargain style/color/blow out during one of the promotions. For the product that I didn't like, I have never had a problem returning for a refund. I like how the store is organized with the more premium products on the right side and drugstore brands on the left. I wish that sale pricing was better displayed or in some cases, displayed at all. I generally have to look through the flyer to find items on sale and then locate them in the store. Many times, the sale price tag is missing but it always provides a nice surprise at check out time. I would normally give this Ulta 4 stars but I'm detracting a star because the coupon policy is constantly changing to exclude products that I like. For example, now OPI nail polish is excluded and I don't consider that a premium brand. Once or twice a year, you might get a 'no exclusions' coupon but with a very short window. I can go down the street to Harmon Beauty and get 20% off my Frederick Fekkai hair products. Also, there is a recently implemented no dogs policy that just started being reinforced. read more

I absolutely love this ULTA beauty! Everyone in the salon and sales associates are super nice and super helpful! Yvonne does my hair color and cut and every time I am beyond impressed. Devyn does my makeup and facials and let me tell you, this girl knows what she is doing. She answered every single one of my questions before starting my first facial and have been going ever since. I love knowing that I am in good hands whenever I go here and I trust Yvonne and Devyn to do an amazing job. I highly recommend this salon and store and hope your experience is as good as mine is every time I go here! Considering we don't have a Sephora near by..it's OK. However, even after renovations, the staffing model and business is still the same. Most of the times I have been in there and have been going there for a few years, the staff usually is unfriendly. (sorry but have to put it out there & as a former marketing director for 12 retail brands I know what I am talking about). Most customer of course do not want to be inundated by a bunch of staff but being able to find someone to ask a question is almost impossible. And usually when they do see you they dont smile, they stare you down. Now they have a security guy who follows people around the store (or maybe it just me -THANKS). The positive is the rewards and the consistent coupons they send out. And they do have reps that come from the actual makeup manufactures & you will know who they are because they will be very friendly and ask if you need help w/anything! Went here to spend money for Christmas and I was in the store about 20 minutes waiting for a woman (who was lovely with short hair dark and red in it) to come back with Dior cologne for my boyfriend when I was approached by a RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL girl who told me I need a mask I said I don't have a mask but if you have one I will put it on and she said no we don't have one she so rude and told me I will have to leave the store her name was Alyssa! I made sure to go get a mask in Verizon across the way so that I could come back and spend the $300. My review is solely for Casey Sandro the Benifit arch expert. She has saved my brows ! I was going somewhere else previously until I was just never happy with the results. The person I went to previously took my whole end off and I don't even have enough brows to make that mistake. I started coming to Casey for about a month and a half now and honestly I'm so happy I did. She is extremely explanatory on the entire process . My brows look better than ever. She is such a good hearted person and a pleasure to chat with. A lot of the time I have to bring my two kids 21/2 and 10 month old because my husbands works a lot but she never made me feel weird about it or annoyed . She completely understands. I want to just state the obvious. This Ulta is a mess. The makeup is always disorganized , the samples to try on look absolutely disgusting and the women working here looked like they just rolled out of bed. How am I, as a consumer , suppose to feel confident in purchasing items from a place that looks like it needs a couple of disinfectant wipes and a pick me upper. There were 3 women working the sales floor and I believe it was only the supervisor or manager who approached me to take some of my items off my hands so I could continue shopping. I'm not asking for someone to harass me at a store but when you see someone struggling with too many items , me thinks , maybe you should offer to assist. This place really needs to revamp its shelves as well. How are they not selling Kat Von D ? I could continue with my issues on this location but I'm pretty sure you get the picture. read more

I looove(d) Ulta, but this store is absolutely horrible! Right when I walked in someone greeted me, which was the only great part about the experience. I asked where Lorac cosmetics were.. she pointed me to about five different aisles and said "over there or there".. Ok thanks, that doesn't help me at all. I found what I wanted and when I finally got to the checkout counter (there were maybe two people working, the line was long) the girl took my product and a 20% off coupon I had from the website (was not expired and my product was not under the exclusions list) ..she tried to look up my account but couldn't find it (not sure why because I just looked up my account and my phone number is on there correctly) ..she issued me a new card and then told me the coupon wasn't working and gave it back to me saying to try again another time. I've worked in customer service and if something like this happens, you're supposed to do what you can to make it work. I'm not a coupon freak at all and rarely use one, but when I do and it's not expired I expect it to work!! I would have totally accepted her apologizing and saying she would have a manager call me later, but NOPE! She just told me to try again next time. .. I'm sorry but if my non-expired coupon isn't working right now, what am I supposed to do later?? I told her to toss it out and left with the product I paid for. Had I shopped online I would have been able to use the code, avoid the line and shop without dealing with rude employees. I only went here because I needed something now and couldn't wait for shipping to come through. Now I'll never shop at this store and I'll stick with Sephora or MAC instead. read more

I used to go to the salon a few years ago and loved it! The stylist that was there had left to pursue other ventures, so I was left to find another stylist. I have curly hair and called asking for someone who cuts curly hair well. I went to her a few times. Decent cuts, but nothing spectacular like my previous stylist. Edgewater isn't super close to me, so after mediocre cuts, I went to other places. After a year, I decided to come back to Ulta and see Jen (who I used to go to). My hair was just touching my shoulders and I asked to only cut half an inch. My hair now comes up over my ear lobes! I told her I didn't like how short it was and she said, "It will grow, especially since it's the summer." Obviously, I cannot glue my hair back on and yes, it will grow. However, being the salon manager who has cut my hair in the past, she should not be making a comment like that, AND know what a half inch. There is about 2 inches cut off! I know, I have curly hair so it'll bounce up, but this is NOT anything near what I wanted. Never going back there again! read more
