TLDR: Hasmik is AMAZING!!! Let me paint you a picture: it's Christmas Eve, my two sisters and my dad (shoutout to the best girl-dad ever) are going to Ulta. My younger sister is looking for a completely unlabeled eyeliner pencil that she bought a year ago. My older sister is trying to find a lipliner to match the only lipgloss she's ever liked. I'm looking for a skin tint that won't make my skin look like I fell into a plate of flour. Enter Hasmik. My younger sister shows her the eyeliner pencil (again, NO LABEL) and not only is Hasmik so sweet but she knows IMMEDIATELY what it is and where to find it! Then my older sister was showing her the mixed berries Tarte limp plumber and said she wished there was a lip liner that matched. Hasmik picked up the lip plumber walked straight to a lip liner that was a different brand, did a color match, and on the FIRSTY TRY it matched the mixed berries lip plumper perfectly. Finally she helped me find my peeerrfect shade in the Fenty beauty eaze drop blurring skin tint and helped my sister find her winter shade at the same time!! This must be my 3rd visit (I think) with the same elite stylist. I paid $102 for a scalp treatment shampoo and hair trim. After the trim, my face is full of hair and at the back of my shirt no matter how much I shake it off. I inquired if they have a soft brush I can use on my shirt or face, they said none. Instead they gave me a dirty looking flannel that I did not take as at that point I did not trust where they got it from. I later saw the stylist wipe the surface dresser with it. This place would have been a convenient go-to for me living in EDH but now, will never go back. I felt the R treatment. read more

I am so satisfied with my experience at the salon here and even more satisfied with the price. I usually am cheap and get my haircut at like Supercuts then hate it so I decided to try Ulta's salon for a simple trim for like $50. Wow! I was thoroughly impressed. Not only did I get like the full shabang treatment with a shampoo and a deep condition, I also felt like my hair had never been cut like so before. The sweet beautiful woman cutting my hair's name was Alyssa N I believe and she did an incredible job. I have extremely damaged hair from years of box dyes and home bleaches but she made my hair feel softer than it honestly ever felt before even pre-hair dyes. She took the time to clip all the dead pieces out and it really had an incredible effect. She also was extremely knowledgeable as well as the cute girl with the beautiful long hair at the stall next to her (who I did not get the name of), as they both gave me a lot of good suggestions for how to combat some of the issues I have with my hair, without just trying to sell me products. I booked a Signature Curl Haircut with Elite stylist expecting a specialized curly service. The description says it includes a curl treatment, curl-specific shaping techniques, and up to 1 hr 45 min service. My appointment started at 3:15 and ended at 3:40 (about 25 minutes). My hair was simply washed, quickly cut, curl cream applied, and diffused. No protein treatment, no curl-specific shaping, and almost no consultation or guidance. For $92, this did not match the advertised service. Very disappointing experience. read more

She looked at me and said "I can give you something to fix all of that" and pointed to my hair and face LMAO like how rude. I hadn't been in the store for a very long time but recently have had rediscovered it. They offer promotions in store for products I use & I can walk out with don't have to wait on shipping. Recently I visited to find a fragrance for myself. I was greeted by two friendly faces when I walked in. I worked my way back to the fragrance area. Associate Bailey was quick to acknowledge me & offer her help. I explained that I liked light, soft scents nothing too heavy. She took the time to show me several newer fragrances she thought I would like. She knows her fragrances and I found a yummy scent. Not heavy, not too sweet a great scent I can wear every day. This review is for the online/phone customer service only. I have tried text and calls and both are ridiculously slow. They keep saying something to the effect that they're looking it up now but they say that like at minimum 5 times in a span of 20 minutes. It doesn't need to take this long. Most customer service representatives are quicker. In and out like in under 5 minutes. Do better because it's definitely time consuming and somewhat annoying. read more

My review is about customer service. I made a purchase while I was traveling. This is the closest location to me & it's temporarily closed. My return window expires a couple of days before they reopen. I have to go to Citrus Heights which is out of my way & farther than I want to drive. Customer service said there's no way they can extend my return date or allow me to mail it in. They said if I'm 1 day past my return date then I'll have to get a store credit. This is a pretty decent Ulta, although they are not always well-stocked, and the customer service can be hit or miss. On my most recent visit, I was searching for Australian Gold tinted face sunscreen, which I hadn't been able to find anywhere else. On the first two tries, I managed to walk right by it without seeing it. I had to ask someone for help, but, once I asked, she was ultimately able to help me find the sunscreen. It was hidden on the bottom shelf, and it was hard to see because it was all knocked over, but, it was there. Once I had my sunscreen in hand, I decided to browse the NYX brow products. (When I was younger, I used to always shell out for Benefit or Anastasia, but I honestly think the NYX works just as well.) I was able to find the brow pencil I was looking for, but it was actually pretty hard to find. None of the pencils were in their proper slots, and, even if they had been, several of the pricing strips were completely missing. I didn't know how much I was paying until I got to the register. Overall, I appreciate the convenience of having an Ulta in town, especially when I have an urgent need for a beauty product that I can't find at Target or Wal-Mart. This location usually has decent customer service, but their recovery and price labeling could really use some work, especially on the lower shelves. read more

This review is for my first/only visit to the Ulta in Folsom. I am a regular and long time customer of Ulta and other locations. This location is right off the freeway in Folsom - lots of parking. The store is a large location as far as Ultas go. Usually when I go into an Ulta several people welcome me and ask me if I need help. This visit I was not greeted and I was not asked if I needed help. On this visit I actually did need help finding something. I asked an employee if she could help me and she acted irritated by my request and got on her walkie talkie to ask someone else to come help me. Anyhooo not cool. The store was dirty with lots of empty shelves and almost all the employees were hanging out behind the registers even though no one was waiting to be checked out. Just not the vibe I'm used to, so I'll stick to going to the other Ulta locations here in town. read more

Sarah B is the best stylist Ulta has and when she moved stores I literally followed her because she's that good. So if you're wondering why you can't book with Sarah B at this location, it's because she moved to the Rancho Cordova location! Definitely recommend her for your hair transformation -- she seriously kills it every time. I have tried other stylists at the Folsom location and they just weren't good experiences overall, so Sarah is worth the extra few minute drive to be sure I'm happy with my hair. read more

Time to update this review I think as I've now been seeing Sara for almost 2 years. I am very glad I found her so quickly upon moving to my new house as she's pretty much perfect! I'm a weirdo and like to change things up every time I get my haircut, probably because I always wait so long (I looked back and realized it's about every six months) in between appts. So I really like to have a stylist who can give me some ideas and get creative with me. I do usually bring an inspiration picture, but Sara is so knowledgeable about this stuff that she's able to guide me in the most flattering direction. She always does an amazing job so I'm happy to just let her go for it. I really look forward to getting my hair done at the Ulta salon, I always have a lot of fun with the girls who are there and of course walk out feeling gorgeous! If you're looking for a new stylist, I think this is a good place to at least check out. I save up as many ULTA points as possible so I can take a big chunk off the bill. One of my least favorite Ulta stores. My experience with the stylists at this location have been that they are driven to achieve the highest dollar amount possible with each service, by constantly trying to sell additional services you were not there for. Traci was exceptionally unpleasant. I was disappointed with her lack of care. Unfortunately, it feels as though "Elite Stylist" are only interested in the dollar amount you bring. The higher your dollar amount service is going to cost, the kinder they will be. One of the reasons a stylist is granted that status is by the dollar amount reached over a period of time. This is often achieved by overselling services, rather than your number of clientel or experience, or furthermore your customer service abilities. Note to self, steer away from "Elite Stylists" unless you want them to empty your pockets. (Not to say there arent genuine Elite Stylists out there, but let me tell you, the ones at Folsom are not genuine whatsoever! aka Traci and Sara) read more

Guilty as charged... I came into Ulta to use the restroom after brunch this afternoon. It was shockingly in a very bad condition! It is not reflective of the rest of the store, as the rest of the store is clean and in good condition. I hope they were just understaffed or just missed the afternoon cleaning, but this restroom is really gross! I did leave with some products so it didn't throw off the whole experience. It did made me think twice about sanitizing my hands after leaving considering the store probably hasn't been sanitized today or maybe in a while. She has a great eye for beauty and I totally trust her opinion and suggestions. I thought that was the beauty of going to Ulta so you can test out products since I can just about find anything cheaper online. Experience is like always no one ever says hi or attempts to ask if I need help. Not the first time they do this. The manager is on the floor and saying hi to selected customers and passed me by about 3 times not even offering to say hi or if I need help. I was an assistant store manager at a store and that is not how you conduct business and how you treat customers that come to your store. I am not sure why corporate hasn't done anything with the horrible customer service this store has. I hope they will because I rather go to Sephora and shop. Will not be coming back to this store. Won't be coming back. I grabbed the item I needed and went to the register. The cashier (Lily) promptly asked me for my phone number to which I replied that I don't have one with the store. She then asked if I wanted to sign up to get rewards. I declined. I do this at every store that asks for a rewards number. I don't want annoying updates/texts,etc. I refuse to give it out. She then proceeds to tell me that without a phone number I won't be able to return my items. Umm, weird and also doesn't seem legit but since I had no intention of returning my item I said ok. She then tells me that without my phone number she can't proceed with the transaction. I clarified: "are you saying I can't purchase this without giving you a number??" She said "yes". I said I am not giving my number to which she replied she could not complete the transaction without it. This went back and forth a couple times with me refusing to give out my number. She then turned to the customer at the next register and asked if she wouldn't mind giving her phone number. What!?!!!! Talk about making the customer feel uncomfortable. I felt this was incredibly unprofessional and also just wrong. You do not need my phone number or any phone number in order for me to hand over my money to buy a product! And if it was that important to have a number just have the cashier use her own number or a dummy number to bypass the system. I also read in another review below that you don't require a number to complete a transaction so why did this person give me such a hard time?!? Do better Ulta. read more

I've had issues with this location the past multiple times I've visited. My frustration is not usually with the people working the floor, but the girls behind the counter when you check out. Their attitudes are so sour that it leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth as you leave. This past weekend we forgot about our 20% off coupon as we were checking out. We remembered right before we had to pay, but the girl said it was too late and we could just shop for something else and use it then...? Mind you- there was no line behind us or anyone waiting for help. She could have re-rung the 3 items and applied to 20% off. There was even a manager helping her with our transaction who didn't care to help us. The girl then acted annoyed with us, proceeded to call my mom the wrong name multiple times, and tried to rush us out. It was rude and upsetting. Then today, a different girl was just as unamused checking us out. I'm not expecting big eyes and bright smiles, but some decent customer service would be nice. I overheard the lady next to us ask for a sample as she checked out and saw the girl helping her give her some. I've never done that so I thought I'd ask too. This girl immediately said no without even pretending to look for anything. I was actually stunned. Won't be doing that again just to be made to feel like an idiot. Right now is not an easy time for anyone so I try to approach all interactions with kindness. It would be nice to have that reciprocated.
