Won't be coming back. I grabbed the item I needed and went to the register. The cashier (Lily) promptly asked me for my phone number to which I replied that I don't have one with the store. She then asked if I wanted to sign up to get rewards. I declined. I do this at every store that asks for a rewards number. I don't want annoying updates/texts,etc. I refuse to give it out. She then proceeds to tell me that without a phone number I won't be able to return my items. Umm, weird and also doesn't seem legit but since I had no intention of returning my item I said ok. She then tells me that without my phone number she can't proceed with the transaction. I clarified: "are you saying I can't purchase this without giving you a number??" She said "yes". I said I am not giving my number to which she replied she could not complete the transaction without it. This went back and forth a couple times with me refusing to give out my number. She then turned to the customer at the next register and asked if she wouldn't mind giving her phone number. What!?!!!! Talk about making the customer feel uncomfortable. I felt this was incredibly unprofessional and also just wrong. You do not need my phone number or any phone number in order for me to hand over my money to buy a product! And if it was that important to have a number just have the cashier use her own number or a dummy number to bypass the system. I also read in another review below that you don't require a number to complete a transaction so why did this person give me such a hard time?!? Do better Ulta. read more

I've had issues with this location the past multiple times I've visited. My frustration is not usually with the people working the floor, but the girls behind the counter when you check out. Their attitudes are so sour that it leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth as you leave. This past weekend we forgot about our 20% off coupon as we were checking out. We remembered right before we had to pay, but the girl said it was too late and we could just shop for something else and use it then...? Mind you- there was no line behind us or anyone waiting for help. She could have re-rung the 3 items and applied to 20% off. There was even a manager helping her with our transaction who didn't care to help us. The girl then acted annoyed with us, proceeded to call my mom the wrong name multiple times, and tried to rush us out. It was rude and upsetting. Then today, a different girl was just as unamused checking us out. I'm not expecting big eyes and bright smiles, but some decent customer service would be nice. I overheard the lady next to us ask for a sample as she checked out and saw the girl helping her give her some. I've never done that so I thought I'd ask too. This girl immediately said no without even pretending to look for anything. I was actually stunned. Won't be doing that again just to be made to feel like an idiot. Right now is not an easy time for anyone so I try to approach all interactions with kindness. It would be nice to have that reciprocated. Normally I don't have many issues with Ulta. I've always gone to the one in Rancho Cordova, but this one is closer since I moved, so I gave it a shot. When I got to the register, the cashier proceeded to push for a phone number like they always do. I declined and said I just wanted to pay for my item and be on my way. Had to repeat this 3 more times before she took my answer. Whatever, I assume this is required by them to ask multiple times. I can understand that. What I was not happy with was the nasty attitude I got after declining to give them my phone number (or someone else's). She had a disgusted look on her face through the rest of the transaction and said NOTHING to me from that point forward. Not even a "thank you" or "have a nice day" at the end. Today is 9/6/22. I called at 12:47pm to see if they had the Ballet Rose Philosophy cream. It showed that they had it in stock online. I was up in Rocklin at their store and they had it in stock, but all of them were open on their shelf. I wanted one that was not opened up. I called and was put on hold very briefly to see if they had any. She returned to phone. Nope. Sorry we don't have any at all. All sold out. I immediately thought she was lying and didn't even go look. I decided to take my chance to see if I could order online for curbside pickup. What do you know...they had some in stock..NOT OPENED.. and ready to be picked up. On Monday I came in to purchase some makeup before an event, as well as something to help my dry skin and was helped by a sweet lady working the Clinique section. She was very patient with me testing out products, giving suggestions on products that would help with my dry skin, color matching my skin tone, while saving me some money in the process! I would highly recommend this location, for deals check out their Ulta Beauty section, they had buy two get two free on their products the day I came in! Also if you are on their rewards program, you'll receive discount vouchers for your purchases after a matter of points add up using your phone number! When I ask about a particular product, they give me really impolite answers and act as though I know the entire store--even though they work there. This service at this store is awful. Let me start by saying that I live 45 mins away from this store. So each trip to the store is a process. The last three visits have been a disaster. After waiting 10-15 mins for someone help me each visit - the staff does know anything about the products or what certain skin types need. They have ZERO attention to detail. I came in looking for a new mascara and specified I did not want waterproof. I usually get channel but was open to other brands if there was something new and better for my fine lashes. They do a demo of a couple and I pick one. Only to find out after it's first use when I went to take it off that is was waterproof. Came in for tinted moisturizer with SPF. Was looking to stay with the same one I had ( Laura Mercier ) but needed to get color matched. They ended up telling me Chanel ( a line I use a lot of ) had a new amazing one. They color matched me and took the product to the front to be rung up. After the first use with my skin feeling dry and my nose getting really red that day - I checked to bottle to realized they had sold me a regular foundation without SPF and zero moisturizer vs the tinted moisturizer I had come in for. My last visit I got a new to me chanel serum - again they pulled the product and took it up front as is the policy of the store. I got home to to find they had pulled the wrong serum. I can not use what they sent home. I went to return the wrong serum and the sale person argued with me that the product they sent home was correct. I took them over to the display to show them the bottle of I wanted vs what was sent home. They argued some more despite the bottles being completely different. Finally she got it and grabbed me a bottle of what I wanted and walked to the registers. Only I asked the cashier to open the box and sure enough for a SECOND time they were trying to send me home with the wrong product. She said it was not her fault because someone had stocked them in the wrong spot and they were actually out of what I wanted. Then for 5 mins they tried to figure out how to order what I wanted and have it shipped to my house. At that point I got on my phone went to Macys.com and order the product with free delivery in less than one minute and told them to cancel my order. Ulta Beauty store #: 389 in Folsom provided a great experience with Malak as she created a very complimentary make-up application that fit my simple and more natural looking style. Malak was very patient and answered all of my questions about application, color palate choices, and she had great suggestions about products with extensive knowledge on each one. Don't get your hair done at Ulta! The hair stylists are inexperienced and don't know what they're doing. They should just be honest and say they can't do what you're asking. Instead, they lied and damaged my hair. They tried to correct my hair, and it ended up worse! I hate my hair. I tipped both hairstylists who worked on my hair and that money is lost. Now I have to pay $500 to fix my hair at a true salon. They said Ulta damaged my hair and shouldn't have done what they did. My hair is bloachy, has 10 diff colors, it'sdead, broken, and frizzy. Best haircut experience ever. I was nervous because, due to the pandemic, I had been avoiding salons and cutting my own hair. I had not had a professional haircut in over two years! And, I had become accustomed to my long, gray-streaked hair. My stylist, Traci Lawhorn, was kind and very skilled! She made brilliant suggestions and gave me a beautiful haircut. My daughter and I went all the way out to Ulta in Folsom just to get a couple of things. She wanted to get a tattoo concealer cream and I wanted to simply get a an eyebrow pencil stick. Oh my goodness were we in store for a wonderful, fun time! Robin helped us initially, and she got me the perfect one: Precisely, My Brow Pencil, in absolutely the perfect shade! My daughter got the ideal tattoo concealer, that she loves, for the tattoo on her wrist. But that was just the beginning of the positively terrific time that we had in the store! I also ended up to get some bronzing type blush and a mascara and a wonderful brown eyeliner. My daughter got Tula skin care creams and Tula concealer. We unequivocably love everything. But then when we got to the checkout, amazingly friendly Starla suggested a couple more things and then professionally applied samples and we got setting powders and setting spray and some sparkly eye powder! I know this sounds crazy expensive but by applying for their credit card we got 20% off of everything. We ended up going home with a variety of great samples and free gifts and we had the most fantastic and enjoyable time in the store! It's like we made friends there, not just were customers. I was in the search of a new hairstylist closer to where I lived and I decided to take a chance on Traci at the Ulta Salon. While I was skeptical at first, I do not regret booking an appointment with Traci! She did my hair exactly as I had requested. She gave me the highlights I had asked without damaging my hair. My hair was soft and full of shine. Because I liked how Traci did my hair, I booked my 13-yr daughter an appointment with Traci without a moment's hesitation! My daughter wanted a choppy, layered haircut. Traci gave her some layers, but it was not exactly what my daughter had wanted. I learned that daughter was unhappy with her haircut after we had left the salon. I called Traci the next day to explain how my daughter did not like her haircut, but was too timid to speak up during the appointment. Being so kind and flexible, Traci squeezed my daughter in the same day to address my daughter's desire for more layers. Traci did a beautiful job with her layers and my daughter was very happy with her haircut! I definitely recommend booking an appointment with Traci. She is not only skilled with cut and color, she is so sweet! Both my daughter and I received exceptional customer service from Traci and the other associates at this Ulta Salon. Today, my friends and I came into Ulta to look around and find some products as we are just regular teenage girls. Every time we went into a different aisle, this worker gave us a dirty look. The same women was continually ask us if we needed help, not in a good way, almost like they thought we were stealing. My friends and I would never steal and they kept on looking back at us and giving us a very unkind look. It definitely made my friends and I very uncomfortable so we immediately left the store to avoid any trouble. Wish they could would realize that teenage girls just want to shop, not try and disturb others around them. This same situation happens everytime my friends and I come into Ulta, it's ultimately diminishing for all of us when trying to enjoy the cosmetics in the store. Every minute she kept telling us that we needed to get up to the register and there was no more time to shop. This was so annoying. So today(3/28/24) i( African American, female, 20) was going to pick up my mobile order and shop around. while I'm shopping asked employees if I needed any help or needed help finding anything I said. So I noticed when I said no to one of the employees she gave me a dirty look, then walked over to the next aisle. then I walk away from where I was to go to a different aisle/section of the store.she was there,so then I go to a different part of the store she was there.next I walk across the store to see if she followed and she did,I then asked her why she was following me,she said "I'm just walking around the store" then I walked off, then noticed I didn't see her a single time after I asked. so I go back to the original section I was at to continue shopping in peace, I found something I liked then bought it. Then after I paid I decided to continue shopping/looking around the store some more, I noticed all the employees would be staring at me. this one lady came to ask me if I needed any help I said no,then walked to a different aisle. I was in the aisle for less then 30 seconds and she happened to be in the next aisle over looking over the aisle watching me.i then notice there are a group of employees talking to each other while looking me,I ignored it and continued to look around more.next thing I know a cop is there and an employee was talking to him and looking over at me to kinda like signal to him that it's me.i ignore it and continue shopping.i get in line and one of the employees that was talking to the officer rings me up and has a very rude attitude. I take my item and walk outside .i start walking away from the store and noticed 2 ulta employees following me.i turn around immediately to return my items because that was so rude and unprofessional of them to do that after i spent maybe +$50 after picking up my mobile order.so i walk in and immediately one of the 2 workers asked "did i need something"with a attitude. I asked her why they followed me out the store she said "the other employee was having an asthma attack"so i ask where the other employee was(mind you she was the one that rang me up) the first employee said "she was in the back of the store" so I turned to head back there and asked her why she followed me out she said " she was going to her car"(mind you there were 2 of them and there were no cars in the direction I was walking and the other lady told me a whole different story) so anyways she tells me that lie while walking away. Then I'm approached by the other employee that followed I asked her why they followed me she said she didn't have tell me(I was ok with that) she then said that I had no business being there. I then asked to speak to a manger.so she told the other employee to call the police. I then waited for the police to arrive while I waited.the second the police officer stepped foot in I said "oh you must be here for me" he then asked me to explain my side I started to but before I could both the employee that followed me outside came up to us to join the conversation. they would talk over me so I couldn't explain my side of the story. The officer explained that they were trespassing me I said that's fine but can I return all items first he let me, so I get in line and one of the employees that followed me out told me she was the only one that could process the returns.i wasn't happy about it but I wanted to leave and was on the edge of tears, at this point I'm recording so I could call corporate and have proof of the situation and she didn't like that I was recording so she claims "she felt threatened and unsafe" just from me taking a video for my safety and for proof.so I felt like that didn't make any sense because she was standing right next to me when she and her other employee rudely interrupted the conversation me and the officer were having, she also felt comfortable enough to follow me around the store but the second I pull out my phone she feels threatened and unsafe??????. The officer proceeded to make smart comments, and belittle me. The officer then proceeded to try to associate me with someone else who I guess was doing sketchy things earlier( mind you there was a big gap from then and now). So me and officer walk outside and talk about the trespass notice. The whole time I was holding back tears. He leaves then I walk about 100 ft from the property. I stand there just to cool off and calm myself down.then the other officer who was with him checked to make sure I was good but I started to cry so he got out the car to check to make sure I was good and we talked. I do have most of the interaction on video. I'm a very antisocial person, I don't get out alot because of it, I'm very calm and quiet, everything that happened today really traumatized me mentally and emotionally . read more
