I've never really had a great experience when I come into this place. My review is based on poor customer service. There has been a few exceptions when I've been approached and asked if I need any help. Other than that, the staff is mostly concerned with chatting amongs each other and looking at their faces in the mirror. Yesterday, I went in to purchase some foundation. I was approached by a lady who informed me that she would call someone to match my shade. The other staff came quickly, however, the look of disgust on her face was obvious. She was rude and personally dry. Look, I get it, sometimes working with people is frustrating. Yet, I was not rude at any point (despite the fact that she was). It almost seems like if you don't looked glammed up like they do, you get treated like an annoyance. I think ULTA should do a better job at hiring people who at least possess basic customer service skills; not based purely on the fact that they look they can apply make up on themselves. read more

I like shopping at Ulta because they have ads that come every Sunday with great deals & a coupon and it's close to home than going to Sephora at the mall. Shopping here is convenient because they have a variety of cosmetic, hygiene, and haircare products and tools. I like checking out their OPI polishes, Bare Mineral primers and anything on sale. Black Friday is exciting here too lol I haven't had the most friendliest customer service but the employees here seems to be keeping the store clean, well-organized and the register lines moving :) read more

Benefits of shopping at a brick & mortar store are: 1. You get your items right away. No waiting for pesky shipping time. 2. Helpful and knowledgeable staff who can help you weed through the sea of sameness. 3. Entertainment and pleasure of environment, displays, testers, etc 4. You can try things before you buy. Unfortunately this location Ulta Beauty is tepid at best. The good: 1. I was in there for over 10 minutes looking at hair stuff. No one spoke to me, but eventually a nice lady approached me and helped me find the things on my list. The bad: 1. The displays with all the new items were mostly empty. 2. They were out of several basic items I went in there for. 3. Cluttery. The ugly 1. One staff member attempted to shame me with her hostility because I was looking for a specific item that "they don't carry and never will." Um, ok? 2. Overwhelming panicky feeling of wanting to run away from that place and never come back. I left and ordered almost $400 worth of stuff from Sephora and Amazon. Ulta Oxnard is a fail unfortunately. Let's revisit our list: benefits of shopping at a brick & mortar store are: 1. You get your items right away. No waiting for pesky shipping time. They were either out of, or didn't carry most of what I needed. 2. Helpful and knowledgeable staff who can help you weed through the sea of sameness. One lady was super nice and helpful. 3. Go to Sephora, don't waste your time here. Incredibly unprofessional service. I made an appointment 2-3 weeks in advance to get my makeup done for a wedding. They texted me twice and called the day before to confirm my appointment. My appointment was for 12:45pm and at 12:25pm I was on my way when the makeup artist called me to say they're overbooked and running behind schedule so she could instead take me at 2:45pm. I told her this was way too late as I would need to be on my way to the event and asked if there's any other artist available as I could go with anyone. She then said she could take me at my original scheduled time but would be running between me and another client at the same time. This seemed like it would be a complete disaster and take much longer than the time I'd allotted so I told her to just cancel the appointment . I don't understand why they didn't tell me the day before when they called to confirm my appt or honestly even let me know sometime other than 20min before my appointment that they were overbooked and to see if I could reschedule and I would have either come in earlier or made other arrangements. The staff here was so friendly when I came in on Friday. This was my first visit to this Ulta and I will definitely return. My friend forced me to buy Pureology shampoo and conditioner, which cost me $90 for the small bottles. That I was not expecting (store has to flip a profit so not the fault of the staff or store). On a Wednesday morning, I confirmed my make up appointment for a wedding that I am attending on that Friday. I'm coming from out of town and my local Ulta offers makeup and hair services. Everything was confirmed until I got a phone call saying that the person that was going to do my makeup had requested the day off. I was left scrambling at the last minute for makeup and hair services. I get it....things come up. However, I would be less upset if they would have let me know earlier on in the week so I wasn't so stressed out. First off Ulta is really good with their online service and pick up. I never have an issue. It's rare I actually go in the store and shop but I've never felt so uncomfortable in my life being followed by the security guard like I was a thief. I couldn't even get what I was looking for because every time I looked up he was across from me. "Continuing walks around the store" I get that I work retail. But with the few people in the store and I was the only one being watched, kinda disappointed. Being a makeup lover I just never expected someone would think I'd be up to something with small items in my hand. I knew I was being watched cause he even asked one of the ladies if I worked there. I love shopping here but cashier Elaine has the worst customer service. She did not even greet me while approaching the register. Before I could even say hello myself, she was like "what's your number?" With an abnoxious attitude. I came in that day with a return. I did not have the receipt but ulta has given me a merchandise credit when I don't have proof of purchase. However, Elaine couldn't even do that and rejected my return. She needs to learn the company's return policy, which clearly she has no knowledge of. Best believe I will be coming back to return with a different cashier. read more

This review is for both the Oxnard Store and for Ulta online. Online experience. I am always amazed just how quickly Ulta online can take an order and set it up for delivery. During our recent Pandemic, I've tried to stay home and order online from multiple companies. The reasoning is to try to follow CDC guidelines while supporting local businesses. I placed four orders this week. My Ulta order came in 2 days with free shipping. It was delivered by a local medical supply van. Obviously Ulta online is using some very unique methods to provide customer service during this time. And I love the Ulta Rewards program. It's really easy to use the 5X the points offers to really build points and have my purchasing power work to my advantage. Kuddos to Ulta Beauty. The Oxnard Store. I've been shopping at Ulta since they were at the Esplanade. I loved the old store and really like the new store as well. While yes, the lines can be long, that isn't the store's fault. I usually find most of the cash registers open during long lines. So many people shop at Ulta (I guess) that there are bound to be lines sometimes. I've always found the employees to be friendly, professional, and are always looking out for my best interests when it comes to using coupons or points. I only shop vegan/cruelty free products and I'm always able to find just what I want. I'm happy that Ulta carries so many vegan lines. I also like that the Oxnard store responds to comments on Yelp because it means that they must care about improving their store. read more

I recently visited here and got rung out by an older woman named Eilene or Irene (I forgot her name exactly). I love ULTA, and will never stop shopping here, but I feel like I should post about how she didn't care that the JOICO shampoo I was buying was leaking on top. She gave me such a hard time and a bad look for wanting to switch it out. The second one my brother went to get was leaking too, so I wanted to go myself to find a good one. She gave me such a hard time about it, and assured me they're all like that (when OF COURSE they're not). Plus, I spent so much time finding what I needed because no one was approachable to ask for help, I just settled for what i had there. I wanted and needed the shampoo/conditioner before they ran out; whenever their Redken or Joico products go on sale, I'll buy more than a few each, like many of the other woman who are huge fans of Ulta and their fun sales! I spent maybe $260-280 this trip alone, and even though it's not about the money, I had a horrible experience. To top it all off, when I got home, I pulled the top of the shampoo handle to pull it out the bag, and it revealed its crack where the shampoo was leaking out of. This is what I told the cashier I wanted to replace. This is something I could've had switched out before purchasing because I told her nicely that it was broken. Too bad I live in Orange County, or I would've taken the time to return it and let them know my frustration instead of yelping it online. Come on Ulta, we all love you, so you gotta UP your customer service a little. Even on the floor, I could not find anyone to help me. haha I remember an employee couldn't guide me to the brand I wanted and certain makeup brushes I wanted, so I had to walk around the whole store and look myself. I went into Ulta looking for a specific item (false eyelash glue). The girl that "helped" me, if I can even call it that, told me that she had never heard of the brand that I was talking about (DUO). She managed to show me where the false eyelash aisle then walked away... After I had found what I was looking for I had asked her if she would be able to show me a quick and easy way to make it less noticeable that I was wearing Falsies.. Ooh, this is a big one! I went here yesterday and I definitely like it better than my usual Pasadena location. Why? - Bigger! They have way more stuff in a larger space, plus more people working. The line always gets so long in Pasadena because no one is working the registers. - More stock! They had lots of new, hot items, especially in the nail polish department, like Opi's Alice in Wonderland collection and the brand spankin' new Hong Kong collection. I hate going to the Pasadena store and looking for things that seem to be perpetually sold out. No empty displays here! - A whole aisle of Clearance stuff! Even a hooker wouldn't wear some of the junk, but sometimes you can find real bargains on quality products. Yay! This location is horrible. 1) unorganized- things are scattered all along he shelves in the wrong places and generally a mess. Even the employees couldn't find what should have been in a certain spot 2) nothing in stock- I can understand during sales or holidays but on an average Monday, they didn't have half the items I was looking for. Even basic tools like a cuticle pusher or blackhead extractor. They told me that they receive shipments midweek and that I could come back. 3) incompetent employees- I brought in a hair dye that I liked in hopes that I could find a similar color match. I know next to nothing about hair dye but I expected the employees to know better. The advice I got? "you can look through all of these until you find the same color." But isn't that why there are employees to help? Guess not. 4) poor selection- my friend was looking for a durable nail brush that would remove grease after working on cars. The only nail brush they carry is $1 at checkout. I looked for a foot pumice and they had one or two, not much to choose from and not what I was looking for. Then they had the audacity to ask if I found everything I was looking for! I asked 3 different employees for help and no one was of assistance. So no, I didn't. From the other reviews, it looks like they're losing major sales. I was prepared to buy quite a few things but instead bought two things and left frustrated. Get it together, Ulta. read more

I came here yesterday to return an item. I can SOOOO see why people are keeping their money in their pockets!! With customer service like this, I'd rather drive to the country where the product was actually made than buy it from here. I have been to other Ulta stores where the staff have been knowledgeable, attentive and even friendly. This store has a woman who works here who clearly needs to eat a few more cookies so she can function with at least half her brain. If she were a little less of a biatch to her employees, I'm sure that would be great too. Took her 30 minutes to do a simple return with the receipt. The store was nearly empty but there was a line at the counter. Instead of assisting people to make their purchases, this chick was ordering her staff to open boxes and do maintenance crap. I worked retail for a long time. When you attend to the customers who are ready to pay with cash, guess what?? They come back and make purchases and tell their friends. When you are a moron at the counter and insult your customers by making them wait in line while you open a box and then say the next service person will help you but then she screws it up so you wind up having to step in after she can't get it right and then you do the math wrong.... This Ulta has the potential to be a great store. They carry great lines of hair care and cosmetic products. They are in a great new location and shopping here should be a great experience. However, I've been here a couple of times since their move from their old location across the 101 and I haven't been happy with my shopping experiences because: - MANY MANY MANY products are out of stock/sold out - Many products had testers available, but they were missing - Too many of the tester that were available were empty or broken - Lots and lots of dented "high end" hairspray and mousse cans. My customer service experience here has been good. Plenty of sales associates asked me if I needed help and one did help me find a shade of lipstick that I liked and the girls who were at the cash registers were friendly. However, I overheard another customer ask another sales associate, who was cleaning a makeup station, for help finding a product. The associate told her she would help her when she was done with what she was doing and continued to clean. Ummm... I think the associate should have stopped cleaning, helped the customer and then resumed cleaning when the customers needs had been met. I could be wrong? Another thing that bothers me is although I do appreciate the flyer I get in the mail with the $3.50 coupon, it is a shame that I can't apply it to anything I want to purchase such as "high end" hair products and such. :( I will probably occasionally shop here, but not as often as I would like to. read more

Patient, helpful, asks lots of questions to recommend the best product, efficient demos, & she'll make sure to send you off with a sample of anything you want to try.
