Would not recommend getting a haircut from Diana. I went in to get layers done and got an absolute hack job! I thought it was good when I left because the ends were curled and I couldn't tell. But once I washed and styled it at home it looked as pictured. They were kind enough to offer having another hairdresser fix it for free. But I ultimately lost trust and didn't want to risk it. First, I'd like to mention that I have thoroughly enjoyed shopping at this Ulta location over the past year - I've always had a great experience in finding the items I need as well as interacting with the staff. Second, and most importantly, I need to talk about Erin in the hair salon: I set an appointment a few weeks back with another stylist, but she was out sick. Erin called me to reschedule for the following week but I mentioned I had hoped to get my hair done before then so that I could take advantage of the 5x points for beauty services. Erin took me herself for the following day and I could NOT be happier! She did an excellent job with my hair color, cut, and styling! I was honestly so worried because I have been using the same stylist for over 8 years down in Phoenix, and due to my curly hair it's always been hard to find someone I like. Additionally, I wanted to try something completely different this go-round - I wanted a shorter cut AND layers, which is most terrifying for someone with kinky/curly hair! Erin did an incredible job with my layers, and perfectly executed everything I asked for! On top of this, she was a great conversationalist and immediately made me feel comfortable. DO NOT get your hair cut by Kylee. I went in to have ONE inch trimmed off my hair, to just below my shoulders. It is now above my chin, and the back is above my ears. She cut more than 14 inches in some places!! The staff was so shocked at what she did to me, they are putting in extensions. It is going to take YEARS to grow back. I am crushed. I always find it super overwhelming shopping at ULTA, especially if you are looking for something in particular. Everything seems to be scattered and too much stuff going on at once at every section. I came in here due to having a gift card and I wanted to get a drunk elephant primer. I walked around the store and I was not able to find it. I asked an associate where it was going to be located. She stated that they had all the products in the back and they were in the process of putting it on the shelves today. However, she brought out the product that I wanted and price checked it for me. She was a great help and was quick. Upon checking out, the cashier was super friendly and helpful. Overall good experience for not being a regular shopper here. I would come back. read more

A customer service worker was rude and condescending when my wife attempted to purchase an item which was on sale. The person initially rung the item at full price and argued with my wife that the item was not on sale. My wife showed the cashier the product in the sale advertisement and the cashier insisted it was not on sale. A manager was called to the checkout and exclaimed in an exasperated tone "We'll I guess I'll just have to sell it to you at 40%" Unfortunately this retailer doesn't have enough competition and no concept of professional customer service. I came in to get my roots touched up and a haircut and style. Be it known that a style at Ulta it's just a blow dry with a hairbrush. You'll be charged an additional $10 if they use a curling iron or flat iron or etc. Let me tell you what happened. I was thankful that I could get in the same day. I went there yesterday and after my services, I came up to the cash register and realized that I was charged over $100 to have a root touchup, cut and blow dry. The receipt said haircut and style. My hair was not styled. I brought this to the attention of the manager and explained the way that ulta does their charges. She was very nice and apologetic and gave me 20% off, which I should have had in the first place because I was a first time customer. Then she added an additional 10% off for the misunderstanding. She was great. So today I got to thinking.... why wasn't I given the 20% off in the first place? I only got it when I went to inquire about the "style" charge. She said that if you want them to use a heated appliance then it's an extra $10. I've never heard of this at another salon. Today, I realized that I have the worst haircut that I've ever had. The stylist was sassy and actually insulted my former stylist and her hair color choice and my cut. One time she said, "I'll take off an inch but you have an inch here, and not here, and - there is just a lot of breakage". Really? I know my hair is a hot mess. That's why I'm here- for you to fix it! I'll tell you one thing, sweetie, you can insult me and my former stylist, but she gives a way better hair cut than you. The stylist informed the scheduler right in front of me that she had booked my appointment when she should have been off the clock. Yikes! How rude! This made me feel really uncomfortable. I will put up with sass if you can rock a haircut. I'm very disappointed in this entire experience. I'm going to have to go somewhere else to have them fix my haircut. read more

I came here today to get an eyebrow waxing for the first time at this specific Benefit brow bar. I have a lot of trust in the Benefit brand, but not a lot of trust for the girls in the beauty industry in northern Arizona. I moved up from Phoenix and had continuously went to Phoenix to get my eyebrows done because I simply couldn't trust anyone to do my eyebrows. I took a chance here in hopes of saving a trip every two weeks and I should've trusted my gut instinct. The girl was nice, professional, and drew on the parts she was going to wax. I have no idea what happened, but the end result was a butchered mess. I didn't even want her to attempt to "fix" it. I just nodded my head and paid for $50 of eyebrow products to try to fix it when I got home. The first photo is what she did, and yes, I am crying because of it. The second photo is how my brow is usually shaped. Save your money and some heartache and go to Phoenix. Kendall at the Benefit Brow Bar in the Macy's at Arrowhead Mall or Patrice at the Benefit Brow Bar in the Ulta at Arrowhead are my go to girls from now on. read more

Wish there was an option of zero stars. Ulta in general is a great place to shop...anywhere but the store in Prescott Valley. My main complaint is that they are severely understaffed. There is rarely help available and the customer service and product knowledge is zip to little. We as customers end up helping each other, which is great....builds community and all that....but it isn't our jobs. I've given this store ample opportunity to bring on the customer service and to...just once cater to the older customer. The young employees are familiar with the brands they themselves use and have no idea how to sell to the older, youth challenged face. I'm done with your store. read more

My two friends and I were harassed here by an employee So, on Thursday my roommate and I went to Ulta to look around at the makeup, keep in mind that we both dress on the alternative side, wearing black and my roommate having tattoos and piercings. We went to the drugstore section, and while my roommate went up and down the aisles, she was followed by an employee. The employee was constantly within a 10-foot radius of her, staring her down. We decided to leave early, and we were literally followed to the door by the same employee. Then, on Saturday, I went to Ulta with two of my friends. We walked in and went over to the perfume section, making jokes about the bad smelling ones. Suddenly, the same worker lady pops up and greets us. She says to me, "Were you in here yesterday?" I say that I was there on Thursday, and she replies, "Yeah, I recognize you." and gives me a weird look. We dismiss this and go to another section of the store. We were swatching eyeshadows and stuff like that when we started to notice that she was following us. (Later on, we nicknamed her Karen, so that's what I'll refer to her as) We go to another part of the store, and she continues to follow us. My friend got fed up (we all have backpacks on) and said to Karen, "Do you want to take our bags? Because we're not stealing anything, and you're making me feel really anxious and nervous right now." To which Karen responded, "No, you're fine, I'm just doing my job." We thought by then she would leave us alone, so we went to a different part of the store. She continued to follow us around the store, looking over the shelves at us. We decided to just check out sooner than planned, (my friend had a 45 dollar gift card, and because of Karen's behavior, she only spent 6 dollars of it) and as we were waiting in line, my other friend asked me what I was wearing on my lips. I reach in my front pant pocket and show her the lipstick I was wearing. As I'm putting it back in my pocket, Karen walks by, looks at us, and says, "Wow." She goes to the front desk, picks up the phone, dials a number and then turns away from us and starts to whisper into the phone. All of us are shaking with anxiety, scared out of our minds. Karen walks around the counter then starts whispering to other co-workers saying things like, "Yes, I watched the cameras last time they were here". My friend and I walk over to them (one of my friends is black, which I think has to do with it.) and we start telling them that we didn't steal anything, and I said to Karen, "There is nothing in this store that I want that bad." and of course she still responds with, "No, you're fine, you're okay." We then tell our friend that we are going to wait outside while she checks out. We leave, and then once our friend returns she says that the employees were saying things like, "Check the windows." We told a parent what happened, he contacted the manager of the store. The manager checked the tapes, and obviously, since we didn't take anything, she apologized many times and said that the regional manager would contact us soon. From the call, we believe we are going to get a personal apology, and possibly a couple gift certificates. I will no longer be visiting the Ulta store, the only way I will buy from there is if I recieve a gift card and it will be used online. read more

A couple weeks ago I decided to get my hair cut and styled. I had been growing my hair to donate it and I was excited to finally do something fun with my hair. I asked for a cut and a color I wanted this light silver/blue. After they cut and bleached my hair twice and then colored it which in total took 4 hours. My hair was blue on the top and green on the bottom. Very bright and nothing like I asked. On top of that the cut is very uneven. It's choppy and ones side is longer than the other. I was mortified and cried when I left. The stylist assured me it would fade to the color I wanted. Wrong!!! I complained to ulta and they gave me a email saying they would forward my complaint. My hair was so bad I had to wear a wrap to cover it. I was embarrassed. The manager called me and asked to see it. Said they wanted to help but it didn't really seem like it. They asked me to come in almost a week later and I did. Basically they told me they could bleach it out or give me my money back. It's been a few weeks since then and everyday I hate my hair. It's shorter than I asked and I can't do anything with it. It's so uneven I would have to cut it shorter to fix it and it's already to short. They literally eff'd up my hair. I was told by a couple other stylists that I could not dye my hair or highlight it until it fully grows out because the green will show through. The stylist that did my hair said she had many many many years of doing this. Save yourself. Go somewhere else for services. I love the store but might not ever return. read more

Being harassed for my phone number at checkout today has turned me against ever shopping at Ulta again. Having been a victim of identity theft, I'm really not eager to give out any personal info. At check out, the cashier asked for my phone number, and I told her that I don't have a loyalty account and I don't share my phone number. The cashier went from having zero warmth to looking at me like I killed her firstborn. Then she told me that she needed me to give me her phone number or else I couldn't return what I was buying (nail lacquer and acetone). I told her I didn't plan on making any returns. Lots of eye rolling and banging and slamming of the register and pulling the receipt and my change (not using a credit card after that "warm" welcome) from the sales associate. Seeing other complaints about his practice on Google reviews made me decide to never shop here again. Tried to submit the review with zero stars, but it wouldn't let me. So one star that was definitely not earned. OK, maybe the sales associates on the floor were helpful, but this phone number nonsense turned me off and I won't be back. read more

I went in for a blowout because I wanted my hair straight, but came out with stiff waves/curls I didn't like. Rochelle convinced me I should get waves - I'm not sure why, but she was not havin' the blowout and made me seem crazy for wanting simply that. She also spent the first 15 minutes criticizing my hair color, which made me feel awful since I'm trying to grow it out natural. Overall not impressed. Definitely one of the worst customer experiences of my life. I was visiting from out of town and went in with a few pictures of some styles I wanted to try out, and I was directed to one of the managers. Right away she answered my questions as if each were the biggest imposition ever, sprinkling each answer with thinly-veiled insults toward me for not knowing every single fact about makeup. She also insulted me for the state of my makeup that day, repeatedly saying things like, "you don't seem like you use makeup" and "have you ever used cosmetics?" I finally told her I would just "look around" and another employee finally helped me pick out what I was looking for. This second employee seemed well familiar with her superior's antics and awful attitude. After sharing my experiences, the second employee remarked that her manager is "from Jersey." Jersey or not, it's no excuse for how I was treated. I later recounted my experience to some local friends, and they too were familiar with this particular "Jersey" manager. Is Ulta Approved? When you review a place what are your deciding factors? What are your Do's and Don'ts? Well, I'm here to tell you mine. I'm going to be dishing out all the factors going into reviewing the cosmetic store Ulta. Do they have good customer service? What does the store look like inside? How are the products laid out? Do the employees know their stuff? All these questions are going to be answered and answered honestly, with no bias. What everyone knows about Ulta already is the lack of employees. We'll find out if that makes or breaks the store. Ulta is a popular new store in our town of Prescott Valley and while it looks promising, it does have some hidden secrets. To start off, when you first walk in you see all the aisles with the products, they want customers to focus on right in front of each aisle. To the left side of the store is skincare and I went and checked out what they have to offer and how its displayed. When I went down the skin care aisles, I could tell most products were drugstore skincare preparations with cleansers, masks, and some face tools, then going onto the next aisle was primarily face mask products. On the right back side was the high-quality skin care. So, they have more than just makeup which attract more customers. In each aisle the products were bright and organized to catch your eye. On the front of each aisle was the products that have the highest profit margin for the store. The next thing I looked at was how many employees were available to assist shoppers. I went into the store several times so as to avoid being biased by only one visit, and I have never seen more than two employees in the store. One is at the cash register and the other is walking around. I can hear the employee on the floor always greeting guests and asking them if they need help, which is great. However, if a shopper does need help, then the number of employees that CAN help you goes to zero. You are now stuck walking around waiting to get help. The last time I was in there, I waited for about 15 minutes before getting help and by my body language and my facial expression she could tell I wasn't happy. She gave me a bunch of free samples on the products I was interested in and helped me locate the products I was wanted to purchase. They have great employees--but not nearly enough of them to serve all their customers. When you first walk into Ulta, it is bright and sunny and very white. It's a feeling of summer every time I walk in (of course during the day). It's not a store you can feel crowded in. You have space throughout the aisles and the checkout area. Even when it's busy I never feel like I don't have enough room to walk around or look for different products. There's a sense of freedom when you go into Ulta, especially for makeup frenzy people like me. You get greeted right when you come into the store and this always creates a sense of welcome. They have enormous windows, so the sun shines into the store, therefore the lighting is excellent for trying on makeup. The atmosphere of Ulta is amazing and I always leave happy (or out of money). Although the lack of employees is frustrating you learn to know what you need before you go in. I can always go in there and come out feeling better and brighter. When reviewing a makeup store there is many qualities to look for and Ulta has most of them. They have a variety of products, while maintaining a bright and open environment. This store appeals to all types of customers while providing high class products as well as drug store in every department. After reviewing the makeup store Ulta, I would have to say I definitely recommend this store to all of Prescott Valley looking for skincare, nails, hair, makeup and so much more.
