I made a hair appointment for my mom yesterday for today and I called today to find out the name of the service she was getting done because my sister wanted to do it as well and apparently the person I spoke to and who made my appointment yesterday did not book my mom and they gave away her appointment and they didn't offer anything so much as a simple "sorry". Very impressed with this Ulta. You walk in, and the shelves are neatly organized, the environment is welcoming, and the social engineering of the aisles lead you from product to product based on their cosmetic relationship. From face wash to toner to lotion to sunscreen. I came in to browse and left with satisfyingly heavy bags of product. I made an appointment at the salon to get my makeup done for a maternity photo shoot. I told the girl I just wanted a natural look with a very light smokey eye not that hard you would think. One girl started my foundation and eye shadow her mind was all over the map, then another girl did my eye lashes and eye liner which took her 45 mins just to do that... Ridiculous!!! I sat there for and hour in an half which it has never taken that long to do makeup before and I was not happy my eye shadow looked horrible in my pictures!!! It took 3 people to try and figure out their register when I was being checked out, The women asked would you like to leave a tip I laughed and said ya... Do not get your hair done here! My daughter in law had her hair done last weekend. She requested to have a biolage with auburn. Her hair washed out the very next day! We went in today to speak to the manager and she repeatedly stated it was only due to the drug store shampoo she used. She actually bought the Nexus Color Care shampoo in the Ulta Store. I asked if she was aware they sold this drug store shampoo in Ulta! She stated that yes we do! I stated that this is not the case and she continued to only blame the shampoo. Never once in person or on the phone was there an apology or even any compasion towards this situation. They would not refund, only offer to put a toner on it. We advised why would we get toner again when it will just wash out again? She stated we should use a different shampoo! The hair stylist who did her hair was also present and did not say one word!! I will never shop here again due to lack of customer service, unprofessional and unfriendly staff. Totally not acceptable to blame product they sell. read more

I am so glad ULTA is here in our mall. I visit ULTA regularly about 1-2 times a month. This store has everything. Most of the staff is friendly and helpful. During my visits I noticed a gentlemen cutting a ladies hair and liked his vibe. He was engaging, polite and funny. Everything you need in a stylist. I thought one day I will get the courage to make an appointment with him. Yesterday was my lucky day. I needed a hair cut badly. I didn't have an appointment. Enter the manager, who not only helped me find the product I was looking for but with getting my new haircut. After checking to see if Austin could fit me in, to my surprise they found me a slot. After a short wait of about 10-20 minutes. Enter Austin. From the second I sat down we hit it off. I immediately felt comfortable, which for me doesn't happen. I explained what I wanted and he took it from there. A complete professional who knows his stuff. I left there with another appointment in 4 weeks and feeling like a million bucks. Just WOW! This store is very understaffed, and whenever you find something you want it's never in stock!! They tell you to call on Fridays, when their shipments come in, but when you call they say, "sorry we didn't get any of that this time." Oh, and if you try on any makeup try removing it with alcohol or water, they don't provide makeup remover. I will take the longer drive and go to Sephora from now on. read more

This store is always busy! So something mist be right. Like the Ulta stores in general because there is a big, mix of high to low end products. I am someone who reads the ingredients on the labels so i know what the largest ingredients are and how much the product is actually carrying (biggest come first) and no one bothers me at this store while i am doing research. But if I need help or have a question, everyone is friendly, available and informed. Always new products to try and retail prices in line with other retail outlets if not a little lower. Also have cash rewards for shopping frequently and that really helps!! read more

So I've been to this location a few times and now will never be going back. Every time I've received the WORST customer service! Most of the time no one acknowledges you because they are too busy talking smack about the company they work for, even the managers! As a customer this is a total turn off to the company as a whole. I've asked for help ONCE on finding a foundation to match my skin/skin type and the girl told me I could just figure it out myself by trying on colors. I was appalled by the lack of interest in helping me. Needless to say, I will be traveling out my town to find make up elsewhere. A word of advice to who ever is in charge, train your employees on customer service and that talking about your company/personal life for everyone to hear is extremely unprofessional! read more

I wish I can give this place a "0" but since I have to put a star in order to continue I really did not have a choice. My usual hairdresser went on maternity leave who is probably one of the best there is at this Ulta...btw, I do not know her personally. She was referred to me by my hubby because she was a former student who he thought did a good job in hair. So no, we do not have a "personal relationship" as one of the unprofessional ladies that work at this salon put it. To make a long story short, due to my hairdresser's maternity leave, the lady that took over to do my touch-up messed it up big time. She touched up my hair too dark which didn't match my light color at all...and to think she would get in touch with my hairdresser to get the formula but she was so stuck on herself to do so. She was the same lady that messed up my hair last time too but I was hoping she would do so much better the second time around but I was wrong. Don't get me wrong, she seemed friendly enough so I still gave her a good tip coz I feel bad for her; but when I called the following day to ask for the color to be changed, the salon manager said that I had to wait at least a couple of weeks to change the color. I mentioned that its only a color and no highlights was done so why can't it be done the day I was available because I had a party to go to the next day that's why I wanted the color to be corrected. I also asked for another hairdresser who was working that day. She put me on the phone with the hairdresser and she said that I have to wait for awhile to get the colors changed which didn't make sense because I was told before that they take walk-ins. At this point, I totally gave up talking to any of them especially when they all sounded incompetent. I eventually asked the lady if I can get a refund so she gave the phone back to the manager. Of course she said that I can't get a refund but offered a day for me to come in to get my color fixed which is the day I told her I have a party to go to. She definitely was not listening to what I was saying. I told her that I can't make it and would please like my money back. Seriously? If someone asked for a refund and decided not to come back because of a bad experience in color or even cut; you're not going to give that person a refund? A good manager would say "yes" you will get your money back...no questions asked or at least apologize. If she wants customers to come back to the store, salon, etc. she would do everything to get them back. Even if she has to refund their money because of their dissatisfaction with a service or lack of service thereof. I guarantee myself nor my family nor my friends will ever step into this Ulta again. read more

I have been in this ULTA location 10 or so times since they opened because I was so excited to finally have a place like this in Simi. I kept giving them chances with the service. But I give up. Everytime I went in, I get enough attitude to last me a month. When I ask a question, they give the impression that I'm bothering their gossiping session and no one can give me a straight answer. I tend to get the raised eyebrow look or a roll of the eyes no matter how kindly I ask. Highly understaffed and even more undertrained. I have on several visits, witnessed them being rude to someone checking out and it makes me very upset to see them treat people like that. I wish corporate would send people who actually give two craps and are genuinely trying to make people feel beautiful and welcomed. The lady at the clinique counter was the nicest one I encountered. She helped match me for 2 foundations and guided me in the skin care field. Honestly better to just shop online or go to Sephora. Absolutely ridiculous. Most likely will not be returning to this location. I was excited to finally be able to go in, but ended up walking out pissed off. All the reviews about the customer service are very accurate. I walked in and was not greeted at all, I looked over to the counter and two girls were standing there gossiping. I specifically went in because I wanted to be color matched for a new concealer I had in mind, except there was nobody around to help me. This location is very understaffed and with the staff they do have, the girls could not give two shits if you are being helped or not. I finally tracked down a blonde who helped me but it was super quick, not very welcoming at all. Went to the register to pay and the two girls continued with their conversation about a work discount and how they needed Starbucks, how one of them had two Starbucks in one day while at work ( because it's so tiring standing around gossiping at the check out Counter )... their attitude wasn't nice at all, they came off very stuck up. I've worked in retail for years and this experience was a total joke. These girls honestly should not be employed here. I will just make the drive to Thousand Oaks for Sephora from now on. read more

This place has the WORST customer service! I wish I could give this place 0 stars!!! We walked in and there were two associates walking around asking everyone if they were doing ok. We came across these 2 rude associates that never bothered asking us anything instead, they would just stare us down. One of the girls had blonde, curled hair and never asked US ANYTHING. The other has horrible purple hair and finally decided to ask if we needed help after she heard me tell my sister I was going to yelp them. I have never been impressed or even satisfied by an Ulta as far as help or stock goes, but this one is the worst. No one was willing to check stock on items, and nothing was stocked. When asking an associate for help for the second time I was informed "oh, we haven't ordered anything cuz we're getting ready for inventory in a few days".. So, you don't stock your store for days because inventory will be easier to count? Ok.. I was there to spend some money, but nothing I wanted was in store. They have the smallest perfume section I've ever seen, but they do have brands like Lipstick Queen that I've only been able to find online (even tho, again, they hardly had any of it in stock). I left and went to Sephora for the products I wanted. So disappointed, I really wanted to like this one. I was looking to get a new foundation and the girl that helped me kept it within my price range and helped me color match; and she got it on the first try! I received a gift card for my birthday last week, I went in to buy hair products, signs all over hair care section buy 2 get 1 free, the other special was if you spend $30.00 on hair care products, including Paul Mitchell & Redkin, so when I went to check out the girl at register says we have no more gifts, I asked then can you give me something else? No oh I'm sorry, just s flat out NO! Then she proceeded to say that on the products, it's not including shampoo & conditioner, only styling products. It wasn't so much that the products I wanted weren't on special as it was her rudeness & unwilling to be helpful. This is the 2nd time in this particular Ulta that sales associates have been rude. I shop at the Ulta in Thousand Oaks & at the Collection, both stores have been helpful. I told her I wasn't going to get anything, & asked for her name, at that point she proceeded to spell it out for me, JOSIE!!!! I have been working in customer service for over 26 years, if I ever spoke to a customer like she did, I wouldn't have a job. Obviously Ulta doesn't care about good customer service. I won't be shopping there any more, & this is the first time I have ever written anything negative on Yelp. I think corporate needs to pay closer attention on who they hire. read more

This store sucks. I have three problems. First, the cashiers are extremely unfriendly and snooty. Two, Ulta regularly advertises freebies and discounts, but there is always a "catch" so that you don't qualify (which just ends up irritating shoppers like myself). I would give zero stars if I could. I am glad to see that I am not the only one who thinks that Ulta in Simi Valley has bad customer service, and by bad service I mean just straight up RUDE customer service! I've been to this Ulta 4 times and thought I would give them one more chance, but after today, I'm pretty much done with them. Every time I've been in the store, at least one of the girls has been rude to me, no one has ever asked me if I need help, even though at times they have seen me actually looking for a particular item. One time, I needed help and went to ask these two girls who were having a personal conversation and one of them seemed really bothered that I had interrupted them. Today I was looking for some mousse, and at this time, this blonde with long hair walks by me looks at me up and down with a dirty look and it wasn't until she passed me that I realized she worked there because she had her little earphone headset on, but at no time did she ask if I needed help, all I got from her was a dirty look. I cannot say enough about how uncomfortable I have felt every time I've been in there, seems like they don't want my business, so they don't have to worry about me ever shopping there again, I'll stay with Sephora, I am guessing by the way I get treated when I go there, they get much better customer service training. read more

They overbook their salon services for a Saturday it took 2 hours for a blow dry and hot iron straighten my hair. The lady who was doing my hair kept stopping to help other hair dresseres w/ their customers, leaving me to sit and wait. It was outrageous that a wash,blow,straight iron..took 2 hours! Then I had to wait behind other salon customers to get my bill,then I had a wait again because you have to take the bill from the salon up to the front counter where you buy your make up to pay. There was only one person checking out (on a Saturday at 4pm)and 8 people in line and none of the managers or any other employees saw fit to fix that problem. I had to ask for help if they could please get at least 1 more employee to the register. The manager said she would send someone up but that she was off duty now and gave me a 30% off coupon. I normally love coming here and they have such a great selection but using the salon service they seems very disorganized and I will not be coming back. read more

This is my second visit to the Simi Ulta. If I rated after my first visit I would have rated highly because I had never been to an Ulta and was pleasantly surprised by the brands they carried and how friendly the staff was...but it was their opening weekend and most stores send special employees to assist with opens. Just experienced my second visit and I'm just annoyed. Simi tends to get mini me versions of stores that don't have the selection other stores have. I suspect this store is the same. Went to Urban Decay section to try to get their heavy metal eyeliner...store doesn't carry it. Looked at a couple of other displays and they were already dilapidated as far as condition of samples and not well stocked. Needed to ask a question 3 different times and had to hunt a person down each time. Two of the times their answers were 'sorry we don't carry that' with no 'hey, maybe this would work for you instead?'. They just kinda seemed like they couldn't be bothered. One of the times I asked for a specific product and they said Sephora carried it but they heard it wasn't a good product anyway. I said that I had tried it and it was great and one of the girls kinda looked away with raised eyebrows and the other acted like maybe I didn't know what a good product was. She did at least offer an alternative (which I already had). In the end...disappointed with stock & display samples but truly annoyed with staff. No warm fuzzies WITH THE EXCEPTION of Alex who assisted me at checkout. Likely back to Sephora in TO or ordering online. read more

I was so excited to finally come to this ulta since it's on my way home from work. Yesterday I finally got the chance to and let me just say Id rather drive to the one I usually go to then come to this one again. When I walked in Courtney had greeted me from the register, which I thought was really nice. I didn't need help, because I already knew what I wanted to get.. so I didn't mind anyone not asking me if I was finding everything ok. Everything was fine,until I was at the register and an older lady walked in with rainbow hair and she was bashing her with her other co worker at the register while they were both ringing me and another lady up. (the other co worker was maybe Hispanic, had black long hair, glasses, was a fuller in figure) they both were completely laughing at this older lady. Courtney was doing all the talking and her co worker was just laughing along with her, she said "whoa.." "yeah no, she literally has a rainbow on her head." "that's a lil too hyphy." And said," why did she do that to herself." She just kept going on and on. It made me really uncomfortable and embarrassed for the lady. I felt so bad, I will never return to this ulta for that reason. They both should be ashamed. They were a few years older then me and I'd never act in a manner like that. If they really need to get it out of their systems, they shouldn't be doing it at their job, while ringing people up and in front of customers. Very unprofessional. read more
