Experienced upcycler here, who frequently goes to resale shops, garage and estate sales. Have never experienced such rudeness as exhibited at misnamed Ultimate Treasures, which is essentially just a dirty, disorganized warehouse selling all the leftovers from others' house sales. Not worth your time or money. Have been there several times, always a buyer. One woman was fair with prices, but the guy sitting at the cash register( owner?) is always antagonistic, rude and disrespectful. Better off to skip this place and head to Goodwill. I won't be going back, and I'll tell my friends to avoid this place too. read more

HORRIBLE - AVOID. The staff is incredibly rude and condescending. They have a very inflated view of the value of their items. Trying to charge new prices for heavily used items. I'm not a reseller and was looking for items for my own use, so willing to pay competitive prices. I made an offer and they didn't even bother to counter. I had wasted a bunch of time selecting a few items that weren't covered with dust or had odors but left with nothing due to the staff ridiculous expectations of pricing. I used to come here almost weekly to hunt. It's junky, but that's why I like it. I upcycle what I find into art. My last trip, I found two vases marked with a price from Goodwill. When I took them to the front, I was asked to pay more than the Goodwill price. I pointed out that if they didn't sell at goodwill for the marked price, they were worth less than or exactly what they were marked. The person at the desk very slowly and deliberately peeled off the price stickers and said, "there, now there's no price." And again stated a higher price. Super insulting and petty. Two stars instead of one because this is the first time I have dealt with this individual and up until this exchange, I had good experiences. I left without a purchase and won't be shopping here any more. It's so disappointing when a favorite store is ruined by rude proprietors. read more

The quality of the products is poor and does not at all reflect the extremely high price that the owner will arbitrarily throw out. The owner himself is rude, (expect name-calling among other things) and does not negotiate down from his ridiculous prices. Save yourself the time and headaches; go somewhere else. read more

Entire store reeks of smoke. Sitting at the entrance to the store is a card table with overflowing ashtrays with workers sitting around it. It's a complete messy jumble inside. Nothing priced - which is understandable with the quality of stuff crammed inside. They say they'll negotiate prices, ha! On a lousy little (2" x 3") chipped, made in China ceramic box my kid wanted, they said $2. I said "how about $?" (in all honesty, I was expecting it to be 25 cents, it was so crappy - but my kid liked it for some bizzaro reason). Response? "How about no". Rude. I said, "okay - lemme see if I have two singles. Otherwise,I'll have to run out to the car for change." Response? "Riiiight. That's the oldest trick in the book." Weird. Like is he accusing me of trying to rip HIM off? Very off-putting transaction. I will not be returning. I create art mosaics out of old china, etc. & am always hunting for a new source. This place ain't it, sis. Nothing wrong with the quality of the stuff, but they're frequently unresponsive to messages. They're SUPER expensive, and have the audacity to write in their sale descriptions that it's a "reseller's dream". Like, they ARE the resellers, and it's priced accordingly. If you have a large budget you may enjoy them, but if you're looking to pay less than the expensive antique and boutique stores, look elsewhere, because these prices are insane for used items. Most things you find here can be found for cheaper on eBay even including shipping. Not a deal in sight, which is the whole reason that most of us shop estate sales and secondhand shops. read more

I was not comfortable shopping their estate sale as I felt I and my friend were treated very disrespectfully.

I have been looking for a small loveseat for over a year. Most of the new ones are too wid or too deep. My friend told me about Ultimate Treasures in Countryside. it is huge and has a wide variety of gently used furniture and accessories and appliances, everything imaginable, all at amazing prices. I saw exactly what I had been looking for. a nice size loveseat that happened to be a futon as well so It would work as an extra bed for overnight guests. I was offered a pen, paper and tape measure it to make sure it would fit, and it was perfect. This piece of furniture looked brand new and was exactly what I was looking for at a fraction of the price. if you are looking for something I would highly suggest you visit this place before you buy. read more

I wish I had read these reviews before stopping in there today. I had a similar experience as many of the other one star reviews. I walked in, excited when I saw how big the place was. I immediately noticed no prices. The guy, who I now know is Martin, greeted me and I responded, asking how long they've been there (banner said "Now Open" so assumed it was new). I thought we were going to have a nice encounter, until I said that I'm not looking for anything in particular, I wanted to wander around. I asked about the fact that there are no prices. He said just make a pile of what you want and when you're done, I'll give you a good price, you'll be very happy with the price. I said well, I don't really know what I want. He said "you're old enough to know what you want". Huh, I didn't know how to take that, assumed it was meant to be funny. Then! He said... "we prefer people who come here to buy things, not just wander around". I said.... "Ok........ got it" and left. He's a real gem. read more

Whatever the overweight guy's name is was very fair and professional about a year ago and something changed the past few months. He's now incredibly unprofessional, stopped making deals even taking a dollar off and if or one of his co workers does, it's always with a sigh, and overcharging for everything so it makes it look like you got a deal. Hey guy, I'm not paying $125 for a set of Sony vhs vcr dvd players with no remotes when eBay itself sells for less than that with remotes. This company needs to learn how to research. The overweight guy also brings stuff from his store to estate sales he can't sell at his store specifically electronics. If you want bad service and overpriced merch, be sure to stop by this guy's estate sales. There are dozens of other estate sales companies in the area that are so much easier to work with and actually like being at the sales unlike this dude who always has a skowl or looks hungover. I have been on the fence about writing this review but felt I wanted to share my experience for future shoppers at Ultimate Treasures. My husband and I have visited Ultimate Treasures 5-6 times in the past several months. We never had a negative experience, and we were always treated with respect. Whenever we did purchase items, we were able to come to a mutually agreed upon price amicably. This past Saturday, we stopped in just to look. It is true what other reviewers have said, it is a true treasure hunt. Some spaces are neat and organized, others are not. We don't mind digging. We came across an item that we thought would be cool to have but we weren't married to it. We made an offer that was countered by the person at the desk. When we decided that we didn't want to pay what he wanted, he appeared offended that we decided against the purchase. He lectured us about the low offer we made and that we should just go to a garage sale; he continued to mock us and lecture us as we walked out of the store! We were utterly shocked at his lack of professionalism and poor behavior. Not only was his reaction poor business it was just unkind and totally unnecessary. Needless to say, we will not be returning to his store. I realize that our decision not to return will not impact his business in any wany and many more people will visit his store. My goal in writing this review is to help others be aware of what they might encounter while shopping at Ultimate Treasures and be prepared to be disrespected, ridiculed and laughed at. read more

My Husband and I are in this store at least twice a week. All of the negative reviews just seem so far-fetched to us. We both enjoy our trips going there. We call ourselves professional thrift shoppers due to the many stores and years of our thrifting. The Countryside store to us is a Gem. Martin has been very welcoming, helpful and nice to us and the many friends we send there. He seems pretty fair, professional and smart to us, He is very aware and familiar with most of his items which takes retailed skills. We as well as our friends always leave there with nice purchases. In fact we sometime bump into some of the same repeated customers during our frequent visits, (made some new friends.) The store is huge, but the girls work hard at decorating it and creating nice warm settings to imitate an elegant room vision. The prices are fair, most prices Martin negotiates with I'll just say 98% of his customers, not just with us and our friends, we witness it every time we are there. some he doesn't, some are just really nice pieces that do not merit negotiating due to the price totally being far less than the value. but we think he is fair. It is a fact that no matter what you purchase you will leave there with a good profitable deal realistically knowing that you paid far less than what it's worth. (That is the point in thrifting right?) As for the staff they all seemed to be hard workers, even those guys who's unloading the large and small items off the truck as we shop, and the guys that help you load or unload for free. We highly recommend this store to anyone who calls themself a true thriftier and not a privileged moocher, you will not be disappointed. read more
