I come here all the time with family and it's always delicious but we went last weekend and it was FANTASTIC. Everything was so well seasoned, the vegetables were perfectly cooked, the fried rice was incredible - genuinely, everything was sheer perfection. The chef was great and hilarious as always. He was extremely accommodating to allergies (as they always are) which is great. Also, there are so many options for the hibachi dinner that you could go numerous times and keep trying something new. They accept reservations if you call on the phone (not available if you try online) which helped avoid any wait time on a Saturday night. This is not the hibachi experience you're looking for. My sister was craving hibachi, and I'm always up for it when it's done well. Unfortunately, Umami Asian Cuisine delivered the most uninspired hibachi experience I've ever had. There was no performance, no interaction, nothing that makes hibachi fun. The chef simply cooked, served, and walked off. To make matters worse, the orders weren't even correct. I ordered steak and chicken but was served two portions of steak, while another guest got two portions of chicken, clearly, one of them was meant for me. As we ate, a staff member stood nearby, literally staring and hovering, removing plates the moment we finished. While I appreciate efficiency, the way it was done felt rushed and uncomfortable, almost like we were being nudged to leave. To top it off, communication was a challenge. When asking about drink options, we had to physically walk to the bar and point at bottles, and even then, the drinks we received weren't what we ordered. Between the lackluster service, incorrect food, and awkward vibe, this just isn't a place I'd recommend for hibachi or honestly, for a meal at all. Great value sashimi, the sushi rolls have a ton of variety, theyre always very nice when I call on the phone to make adjustments for an order which I appreciate. Came to have a glass of wine, there was no bartender at noon. A makeshift bartender/waitress was sent. She served me a glass and started inquiring about my broken arm, including meds I was taking. I explained that I am taking ibuprofen, which is none of her business. She proceeded to tell me to go somewhere else for drinks because she assumed I was lying and wanted to mix meds w alcohol. This is my favorite hibachi place. The chefs are talented and make every event truly fun. Have been here for many gatherings and had a good time. We've also sat at the non hibachi tables and there's something for everyone. Pretty extensive menu. Good salads, good sushi, good hibachi and sake. Prices are decent and parking is easy. Found this place through door dash. It didn't fail us- delicious, fresh and decent portions. Jalapeño firecrackers were a fun starter and not heavy on the tempura. Green snowflake roll- delicious and request no mayo or sauce still very good. Fresh Tuna Wrap Roll- fresh and clean. Lots of greens included in this roll. Umami is definitely a must go for either their regular menu or hibachi-style food. Which ever you decide, it is a win-win. I have gone a couple of times and the flavors are always great. Today, we have the "Happy Family" consisting of sautéed protein with vegetables and their special sauce and it was truly great with huge portions. The service was also great. Our waitress stopped by frequently to make sure everything was good and the ambiance was perfect to enjoy the meal and have a good conversation. No over powering loud music. The food at this place is absolutely amazing and the waiters and cooks do a great job. The server is always friendly and attentive, which is why I hate having to leave this review. Unfortunately, there is a photographer who goes from table to table offering to take a "complimentary" picture of your group. When my dad and I were leaving, he approached us with a tiny printed photo labeled as the "complimentary" one, along with two regular-sized copies, and then asked for $20 for the larger prints. The issue was the pressure and how he handled the situation. I politely declined multiple times and clearly said we were not interested. Which because I kept speaking up he purposefully began ignoring me and directed his attention toward my dad instead. He wouldn't even make eye contact with me when I spoke up. Each time I said no, he continued trying to convince my dad to pay, completely ignoring me as if I wasn't there. It felt extremely uncomfortable especially considering my dad can be a people pleaser when pressured. The constant pressure and refusal to back down ultimately led my dad to just give in and pay simply to end the uncomfortable situation. That should never happen. Calling it "complimentary" is misleading when there is clearly an expectation to pay and the aggressive persistence along with deliberately ignoring me left a very bad final impression. The restaurant itself is wonderful and deserves praise for the food and service, but this experience seriously took away from what would have otherwise been a five-star visit. read more

Ordered takeout from Umami while in the area and it was a bit of a struggle. We tried ordering via UberEats and ran into a few problems. It was lunchtime and we were trying to order some things off the lunch menu & the regular menu (they were separate through the app) and it kept erasing part of our order. We figured out that they only allow you to order through one of the menus. When we tried to only order off of their regular menu & were ready to place our order, an error message came up and it said they have a cap on the price you were allowed to order for delivery at $100. We eventually gave up on ordering it through there and decided we'd just pick up the food for takeout. As for the takeout experience, everything was packaged nicely and the food was ready when we got there to pick it up. We got the NY Strip Hibachi lunch, the Steak & Shrimp Hibachi lunch, crab rangoons, and a few rolls. Everything was pretty good. The only thing that was a little interesting were the rolls. I ordered the Umami Dynamite roll and it didn't seem like what was advertised in some of the photos. It only had what looked to be a majority of scallops as part of the dynamite. My friend had another roll that was topped with what looked more like a dynamite mix than the Umami Dynamite roll. My other friend got a roll that was topped with seared tuna (I think?) and it looked a little questionable in color. She ended up taking some of it off to finish her roll. Recently visited this spot again after the remodel. Very nice and great food. The service was great. The only issue I had was when I made my reservation they misunderstood my name and put me down under something else. The person I called on the phone to then inform of this was able to figure it out but was a bit sassy on the phone saying well as long as your entire party is here by the reservation time we will be able to sit you. On vacation looking for some good hibachi and we definitely found the right place! Our server was awesome and very attentive! It wasn't very busy, and they really did cater to our whole table very well. On to the food, I ordered the chicken and steak hibachi dinner and upgraded to get the filet. The miso soup to start was decent, and everything after that was phenomenal! We upgraded to the chicken fried rice and that was definitely the move, and also ordered a side of noodles and those were excellent as well. If you're planning on getting the steak, I highly recommend upgrading to filet! It was so tender, it melted in your mouth! Overall, I highly recommend Umami! So Friday lunch. My party of 4 were the only customers. The general (can't really find another word) directing us to our table was professional, curt, and serious. No love lost here. We waited about 35 minutes before anyone else showed up. It was actually funny. Finally our hibachi chef showed up and regrettably tried to entertain us with the usual hibachi antics. Thankfully, the food was tasty although they skimped on the ham and shrimp in the special fried rice that we paid extra for. During our entire time there we were entertained with floor mopping, chair fixing workers. And regatón music. So, at least the food was tasty. I don't recommend for lunch on a Friday. This restaurant definitely gives you the most bang for your buck. The portion sizes are huge! The food itself is very good too. I think most of the plates can be shared between two people. I ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp and it was so good! The noodles were pretty sweet so keep that in mind. The entree came with a soup, I ordered the egg drop. The crab rangoons were very crispy and seemed like they were just made. The only thing that wasn't too good was the sushi roll we ordered for the table. It has become one of my favorite "last minute go-to" places for a good meal. The service has improved tremendously, the food is tasty, the portions are generous and the food comes out fast and piping hot. I do wish they had fried noodles to crush over my egg drop soup, but it's no longer a big deal for me. We have been to this restaurant twice already and let me just say that both times have been amazing! I ordered the salmon with teriyaki sauce & it comes with white rice and veggies. It is just delicious! The salmon is well made with the sauce over it. I loved the veggies too! My hubby had the veggie fried rice and he loves it! Perfectly done! We had the spring rolls (veggie ones) and it comes with a fabulous dipping sauce! The place also has hibachi style dining which we will definitely come back and try it. It is a beautiful restaurant with many booths and also a section for the hibachi dining! They also have a large bar area where you can also have your dinner. Service was excellent! I went here on a late night and was happily seated by the workers for a hibachi dinner. I wanted to do the noodles instead and they gladly accommodated. My boyfriend got the deluxe dinner and really enjoyed it - the chef even shared a bit of the rice and veggies with me. The Thai iced tea was delicious and the noodles were yummy. I have been coming to Umami for a LONG time with my family. I love this place so much because they have the best food here. Unlike other places that sell sushi, this place doesn't over charge for what you get. They always have high quality food. Instead of ordering out I decided to come and eat at the restaurant. Everything was excellent minus the server. We sat down we ordered our drinks and she went to go grab them. Once she came back we ordered our appetizers. A few minutes later, she comes by and asks if we are ready to order dinner yet. Mind you we haven't even gotten our appetizers yet so I said no not yet we will wait for the appetizers. She comes back with the appetizers, places them down and starts taking her notepad out to try and take our order when we are trying to start digging in to our appetizers. I tell her once again no I think we will wait until we are done eating the appetizers. A few minutes go by and she comes to us again asking if we are ready to order while I am still eating the appetizers and I tell her once again I am not ready to order. Finally when we are done with our appetizers I order. When it was time to pay we saw they do in fact charge you for tip automatically which is happening a lot lately considering the issue with pay and servers (understandable). I am the type of person that gives a generous amount of tip because of the fact that you never know what people have going on and it is true they work hard. However I also am not going to over tip people who don't care to do their job correctly or make people that come out to eat and relax feel uncomfortable. When we got the bill and were preparing to finish taking care of it our server is telling us "yes I can finally go home now" and she said it about 5 times right in front of us in a way that made it seem like we were the reason she was "stuck at work". Overall, the food here is 100/10 I love this place, however I think i'll stick to ordering to-go or just going to the restaurant when I want to do hibachi because I have never felt so rushed in my life. read more

This place is so good! Visited today for a business lunch and was super surprised with the quality and huge portion sizes! Wow! Staff was super friendly, fast and attentive to our group of 8. For $10 I got the sweet and sour chicken which also came with a soup or salad. I got the salad which was a typical iceberg salad with ginger dressing, very yummy. Our meals came out really quickly. I LOVED my sweet and sour chicken. Fresh white meat chicken with the most delicious sauce. I got fried rice with it (you had option of white, brown or fried rice). The waiter told my wife "don't I know you from somewhere"...personal type question from a male that was never our regular waiter. So he grabs my plate of food with his dirty hands and places it inside the container with my fork. Then it gets personal, tells us that it's bad to eat late because it causes gases.
