I'd had a Butler's Boardroom lunch in January at a working lunch, and it was refreshingly delightful for a "box" lunch. We fed 8 people for $129, which included a $25 delivery charge. Not bad. Each box lunch ($11) comes with fruit cup, deli-style potato chips and chef's choice dessert (cookies, lemon square, pecan brownie, raspberry bar or gooey butter bar). For $1.25 extra, you can also get a salad: Sicilian pasta salad, dill red potato salad, Thai sesame noodles or Mediterranean salad. Many items were ordered, including: tuna salad on wheat with a dill red potato salad veggie wrap (no avocado) with added provolone Butler's club of smoked turkey, bacon, lettuce and lorraine Swiss on herb ciabatta Cape Cod salad with chicken (cranberry viniagrette on the side) Thai chicken wrap (no carrots, no snow peas) beef tenderloin wrap with a Sicilian pasta salad baby spinach salad (special request for the pecan brownie) You can see the special requests of these orders . . . no avocado, viniagrette on the side, no carrots, no snow peas, pecan brownie. Every order was absolutely perfect per the diner's request. I got the butcher block, smoked turkey, roast top round, ham, salami, Cheddar jack cheese on herb brioche with a Mediterranean salad. This was an incredibly wonderful, huge, fresh sandwich. It came with stone-ground mustard, that was unique . . . couldn't have too much of it. The Mediterranean salad was Kalamata olives, pasta, tomatoes and artichoke hearts in a vinaigrette. Absolutely delicious! I saved my fruit cup and potato chips for later, and gave my dessert away. It was an incredible amount of food. Everybody enjoyed their selections. There was a time when no conversation was occurring . . . that's when everybody was diving into their food! This was a great option!! Every box was clearly labeled, and the ordered salads were in a separate box. Delivery was right on time. Everything was packaged in fabulous recyclable vessels!!

This was such a fun way to try several different combinations without having to commit to just one, and honestly, all four were the bomb. The Forever Young was the classic of the bunch, with Colby, American, and mozzarella on sourdough. Simple, cheesy, and delicious. It was supposed to be served with marinara, but unfortunately, we didn't receive any of the dipping sauces with our flight. The War Figs was probably my favorite. It had fig jam, goat cheese, white cheddar, balsamic, and bacon on sourdough. The sweet and savory combination was so good that I could have easily eaten an entire sandwich of this one. The Blackberry Beret was the most surprising combination, with blackberry jam, pesto, goat cheese, and mozzarella. I wasn't sure what to expect from blackberry and pesto together, but I really liked it. My husband isn't a huge goat cheese fan, so this one wasn't as much his thing, but I thought it worked really well. Finally, the Ranch Against the Machine had jalapeño cream cheese, white cheddar, chicken, bacon, ranch, and tomato. It had a little kick to it and was really flavorful. Just as importantly, they absolutely nailed the basics of a good grilled cheese. Every sandwich was served piping hot, and the sourdough was perfectly crispy and buttery. Grilled cheese can easily become too greasy or soggy, especially with this many different fillings, but that wasn't the case with any of these. The bread and texture were on point across the entire flight. Overall, the grilled cheese flight was a great experience and a fun choice if you want to sample several of their sandwiches. I also loved the personality of the place, including the "Gouda vibes only" sign on their screen, which I immediately had to send to my son because he loves making grilled cheese with Gouda. If you're visiting The Foundry and love a good grilled cheese, Steve's Meltdown is definitely worth checking out.

They will notify you when your order is received by the restaurant, when it is ready, when your pedaler is there for pick up, and when it is in route. I wish it was more accurate like Uber, but it gets the job done. Honestly, if you live in the Loop, CWE, Midtown, Downtown, and even Clayton. Use Food Pedalers to delivery your food on bikes. I honestly don't know how they would do it with very very large orders, but they have group catering online. The only thing I would note is they have some great restaurants in their porfolio, but not everything yet. Loop: United Provisions, Pi, Three Kings, Rannoush and some others that don't deliver Clayton is on break for the summer. This seems weird to me, but I'm sure it's because they are working on increasing their market share. Things to be wary of: The app sometimes is a little off. I tried to pre-order even in a close window and it often boots me out. In addition, the menu online is not the same menu for the same restaurants often. It's more limited. Anyways - glad to have this local service around for around $3.99 a delivery and you can tip your pedaler if you want online.

The food was well beyond our expectations -- amazing creativity and complexity. It's shocking that this could be done in our kitchen! She responded promptly to my request for a proposal and initial questions. Her pricing is fair and very easy to understand; there were no surprises at the end. The planning process for the event was smooth and she had great suggestions for the courses, on which we worked together to create a customized menu that also took into account dietary restrictions. On the day of the event she arrived on time and brought her own supplies as agreed. She set up the cooking area efficiently and in a relaxed manner that was not rushed whatsoever. She spread out the courses beautifully and none of the guests felt hurried or overwhelmed. As each course was served she got everyone's attention and described the dish, which was a nice touch! At the end of the evening she cleaned up and left the kitchen area spotless, departing in the timeframe she indicated in her proposal. Finally, and most importantly, the food was excellent. We had two hors d'oeuvres and a frisee salad that were on her regular menu list of selections and she crafted an off-list duck a l'orange that was as good as you'll find at a traditional French restaurant. She made a very special crepe desert as well. I would highly recommend Chef Dawn and would not hesitate to request her services again in the future.
