Top notch food! I have been wanting to check out Steve's Meltdown for some time and tonight was the night to make this dream come true! I love a good grilled cheese and this is the place to enjoy one. I ordered a regular grilled cheese and added bacon because they go hand and hand! It was fantastic! I also enjoyed a side of tasty cheese fries! So good!
So many places to choose from at the foundry and I usually end up at the same one each time, but this time my teen wanted to try the place that specializes in mac and cheese and grilled cheese sandwiches. If it were up to me it would be five stars, my daughter wasn't crazy about the mac and cheese however. She liked the pizza part of it but said the mac and cheese tasted like it was out of a box. That disappointed her. We loved the garlic cheese curds. The garlic is what set them apart. We agreed that we would definitely go again, we will likely both go with sandwiches and share some fries or cheese curds again. We had to wait maybe 10 or 15 minutes on the food, but it was served hot and fresh. I was not frustrated by the wait and staff were friendly. We were there during the day so there was space to sit out in the open. Will definitely return!

The menu says: "toasted sourdough with fig jam, goat cheese, white cheddar, bacon and balsamic glaze. Served with fig jam on the side for dipping." I have the employees hold the bacon from this sandwich. It is the best! Perfectly sweet, creamy, and salty. Several vegetarian sandwiches are sold, but I like fig. The sandwich takes 7-8 min to cook. That's enough time for a quick walk outside or for a visit to shops or to Poptimism for a dessert-first experience.

Our order consisted of the Sweet Caroline Grilled Cheese, Buffalo Springfield Grilled Cheese, and a side of Krinkle Fries. As grilled cheese lovers, both of these sandwiches were fantastic. I loved the Sweet Caroline and was drawn to it for the Brie, apple slices, and cranberry jam. Such a unique twist to a grilled cheese, but it all worked perfectly together. My husband had the Buffalo Springfield and could not stop raving about it. We would recommend either of these two sandwiches. The fries complemented the sandwiches well. They were the perfect size to share with someone else. Steve's Meltdown made a strong first impression. It was one of our favorite eats in St. Louis. We would definitely return again the next time we're in town and at the Foundry.

The fries were a pretty large portion for the cost, which was nice. It was a Thursday so the city foundry was emptier than usual and pretty quiet. No issues finding a table at all.

It's located inside of City Foundry, so you can order your food and find a spot to sit. I can't wait to go back, it was so good! There's plenty of seating and the staff were super friendly and excited to talk to us! Highly recommend!
I ordered the war figs grilled cheese, and it was delicious! I didn't think I was going to like dipping it in the fig jam but it was sooo good, I kept coming back to the jam. The fries were fresh and crispy, and the worker was very nice and greeted me as I walked up. They also have Excel products to drink, which I love strawberry ski so that was also a plus. There are many places to sit in the foundry and it was such a cool experience and was very clean as well.
I love this place, I have been twice and always get the vegan grilled cheese. It is delicious! A little pricey but worth it. I love the food court at the foundry, it has lots of open seating and places to choose from. Something for everyone. I have been twice both times on a weekend and it was not too crowded.

While checking out The Foundry, we stopped at Steve's Meltdown and decided to try their $30 grilled cheese flight, which came with four half sandwiches featuring some of their top grilled cheeses. This was such a fun way to try several different combinations without having to commit to just one, and honestly, all four were the bomb. The Forever Young was the classic of the bunch, with Colby, American, and mozzarella on sourdough. Simple, cheesy, and delicious. It was supposed to be served with marinara, but unfortunately, we didn't receive any of the dipping sauces with our flight. The War Figs was probably my favorite. It had fig jam, goat cheese, white cheddar, balsamic, and bacon on sourdough. The sweet and savory combination was so good that I could have easily eaten an entire sandwich of this one. The Blackberry Beret was the most surprising combination, with blackberry jam, pesto, goat cheese, and mozzarella. I wasn't sure what to expect from blackberry and pesto together, but I really liked it. My husband isn't a huge goat cheese fan, so this one wasn't as much his thing, but I thought it worked really well. Finally, the Ranch Against the Machine had jalapeño cream cheese, white cheddar, chicken, bacon, ranch, and tomato. It had a little kick to it and was really flavorful. Just as importantly, they absolutely nailed the basics of a good grilled cheese. Every sandwich was served piping hot, and the sourdough was perfectly crispy and buttery. Grilled cheese can easily become too greasy or soggy, especially with this many different fillings, but that wasn't the case with any of these. The bread and texture were on point across the entire flight. Overall, the grilled cheese flight was a great experience and a fun choice if you want to sample several of their sandwiches. I also loved the personality of the place, including the "Gouda vibes only" sign on their screen, which I immediately had to send to my son because he loves making grilled cheese with Gouda. If you're visiting The Foundry and love a good grilled cheese, Steve's Meltdown is definitely worth checking out. read more

Not sure if I came here on a bad night or what, but I was not impressed with my visit here. I really wanted to love this place, especially because of all the great reviews so far, but I feel like I would've been better off just making some grilled cheeses at home! When I saw that Steve's Meltdown is from the same family of restaurants as Steve's Hot Dogs and The Fountain on Locust, I got really excited. I am an avid Fountain on Locust visitor, and I regularly recommend it to everyone I know. I ALWAYS order their Royal Grille, which is their adult grilled cheese with white cheddar, mozzarella, and Fuji apple slices on whole grain wheat bread. As a result, I had very high hopes for my visit to Steve's Meltdown. I decided to order the Sweet Caroline, as it seemed like an exciting twist to my classic Royal Grille from The Fountain on Locust. It was pretty good, but my boyfriend and I had some issues. He ordered the That's Amore Grilled Cheese, and we both noticed that our sandwiches were cold, and the cheese wasn't quite melted in some spots. If the sandwiches had been cold just in the center, I would've had a bit more understanding. But when the first bite is cold, that's not an ideal grilled cheese experience! My Sweet Caroline was overall warmer than my boyfriend's sandwich, but still not the best. Seemed to be missing the "melt" part of MELTdown! The employees were not unwelcoming or rude by any means, but not notably friendly or personable either. Just a very average experience. We ordered our sandwiches at the order counter and waited less than 10 minutes for our name to be called at the pick-up counter. Pretty quick service, especially with all the crowds at the City Foundry on a Friday night, so no complaints there! Overall, I just find it a bit difficult to justify spending almost $30 on a side of fries and two grilled cheeses that didn't completely wow us. I absolutely love this restaurant's concept idea and that they offer unique and fun flavor options for a classic food item, but maybe I'll wait to revisit after this place isn't so new. I would also consider trying their mac and cheese next time, too. read more

We came here on Good Friday so we needed an option without meat. We ordered the forever young adult grilled cheese and the sweet Carolina grilled cheese. Both of them are very good and cheesy. For what it was and not to get a side with it it was a little expensive, considering there was no meat involved. But that's what we needed for the day so it worked. I was super excited to try Steve's Meltdown in City Foundry with my daughter. I appreciated the kids meal options as the Foundry food court isn't honestly that kid friendly. Very few restaurants actually offer this so I was happy to see it. She chose the pizza mac and cheese while I got the Sweet Caroline and we shared some cheese fries. We only waited about 5 minutes or so for our food to come out hot and fresh. My daughter ate her mac in about 30 seconds she loved it! The Sweet Caroline was a great combination of sweet and savory. The cheese fries were also great and a large portion to share. Will definitely be back! read more

Every single employee there is AMAZING! The names of all of their items are HILARIOUS! Their kids menu had two different choices between "I don't know" and "I don't care" (one was Mac n cheese and the other was a grilled cheese). And the Mac n cheese itself was awesome!
