While in the past I never considered Ume Tea as a favorite, the blossom latte changes everything and I now consider UT on par with Chagee, my favorite tea place overseas! I stopped by on Saturday to try the seasonal Rose Pistachio milk tea (strawberry rose milk tea with pistachio cream top). Ordering was quick and easy through the kiosks in front. My only complaint was wait time - there was only 1 person making drinks, so mine took 30 minutes despite no line and only a few people waiting for drinks before me. This is the same issue I had the last time I was here a few years ago, but I thought they would've fixed it by now since the place is still popular. I got the Rose Pistachio milk tea at 70% sweet with boba, which was perfect. It tasted great and reminded me of Indian sweets with similar flavors. It's too bad this is seasonal. My girlfriend and I enjoy ordering the bunny surprise cups because we started collecting the tiny plushies together. Some of my favorite drinks include the Oreo Crème Brûlée Milk Tea, Grape Tea slushie, and the Mango Pamelo Sago. Food-wise, I enjoy their popcorn chicken and fried mini octopus a lot! Their portions are reasonable for the price charged. Fried tofu is also good if you're not into meats. Service-wise, it's perfect for introverted people because it doesn't force you to communicate up front. If you want to order your food and drink without saying a word, you can do so. This isn't really an issue I struggle with, but the employees also seemed pretty nice nonetheless. This location is small, but they have self ordering kiosks for an expedited ordering experience. I didn't even know there was one in the area and walking around found this spot. There was a dude up at the front and when I walked in I said hi and he didn't even look down. Red flag anytime a customer says hi before you're acknowledged by the staff (at least for me). There was a tablet to look at drinks and place your order. I've had Ume before and wanted to try something different but the guy had not interacted once and when I looked up he was gone so I headed back to the other tea spot that acknowledged me soon as I set foot in the store. The shop is tucked inside this shopping area so you can find parking around the whole area. The inside is bright pink and on theme. Just a few of my simple thoughts pertaining to my experience to help the Business Owners improve the operations: A) It all begins with improving staff training, focusing on their performance on customer service, B) Customer experience begins the moment they enter the business e.g. counter staff should immediately greet or welcome them, acknowledge their presence, look up or simply smile regardless how occupied they might be, C) Never treat customers as if they are invisible, especially those standing right in front of the counter and in front of your face, D) If you notice drinks already ready and lingering around the counter, be proactive by notifying the customer by all means (call-out, buzz, text etc). This improves turnaround and will ensure customers receive fresh products (drinks) rather than a stale ones, E) Exercise some humility, when you sense customer not so happy, acknowledge them, an apology goes a long way. read more

Went here for dessert after dinner on a Monday night. They were pretty busy! It's cute inside with all the pink decor. You self-order on the screen and on the side there is merch from Ume tea available to purchase. I ordered the lychee and rose drink which is a part of their rose drink series. I thought it was pretty sweet even when I lowered the sweetness. Nothing stood out to me about this drink flavor wise. My boyfriend got the thai rose drink and was not a fan of it since it was way too sweet (he couldn't adjust it lower than 30% sweet). I've seen the surprise plushies hype on TikTok but told myself it was a gimmick and I will not fall into it... well, damn. I fell into it. After going to Stickerfest event in San Jose, my cousin and I had a craving for boba and Ume Tea had snack options too so it was a no brainer to come through. There was a slight hiccup during my visit because I used their tablet in front to order and after seeing people who came before and after us get their order (20 mins later..), I went to check in and found out that there was an issue... the paper for my order never printed or they lost it. Staff worked to find the piece of paper with my order and eventually I think the manager just reprinted it and got my order started. He was very apologetic despite the language barrier and even gave us free plushy keychains. I opted for their boba and mochi milk tea and I thought the flavors were pretty good, although I wish it had more boba. It felt like I was drinking mochi a lot instead. This location is more of a grab n' go type of drink shop since there's absolutely no seating inside + very, very limited outdoor seating / tables. Located in a pretty busy plaza, you can find Ume Tea in the alleyway near one of many restaurants. Parking can be challenging depending on the time you decide to go since the plaza has a lot of stores. They are well known for their random, surprise toy that comes in the bottom of your drink cup, but I wanted to try something new and refreshing since it was hot out. I ordered the Coconut Slush w/ Watermelon, Regular Sweetness, + Mochi topping and the Fried Chicken Fillet, mild spicy. I have to say...I was really surprised how good my drink was! I normally don't like coconut, but all the toppings + mochi topping all meshed together so well!! I could imagine myself drinking this in Hawaii. Haha. (I recommend trying this drink!! 10/10!) The Fried Chicken Fillet was pretty good too! The outside was crunchy, the meat wasn't dry, and the mild spicy was just right! Just a little kick of heat. I do wish they seasoned it more evenly, because a lot of the spice powder they put was only on the top pieces and none on the bottom. I would give this an 8/10. I would recommend trying to order through your phone if the line gets too long to order at the counter since they only have 1 tablet there, and you know most people take long to decide what they want to get. I wish they had 2 tablets to order from... There's also literally no room inside to wait either, so once you order...you go back outside to wait for your name to be called. But I didn't wait too long, maybe about less than 15 minutes since I ordered the chicken. If you just get drinks, the wait is really short. The staff are friendly and busy! But they'll be sure to answer your questions about the menu since there's quite a lot of different items they offer here. One of the big reasons why I knocked 1 star off, is because I wish that that they would make it more presentable inside the establishment. They have big boxes for the little toys that can come with your drink just sitting, opened...they have their storage rack to the left full of inventory of things they need, a TV that doesn't display anything but an error message w/ a background...etc. I understand it's a small space, but I'm sure they can come up with something to make it more clean and presentable in the front area of the house. I know you don't spend more than 5 minutes in there, but it should be an area they can be prideful of! It shows the customers you care about your work place.
