Can not beat the 50% off rolls Monday- Thursday! We love ordering them to go and enjoying it at home. Their soups are also really good. Service can be ok, but for what you're paying, not worth complaining about it.

    Salmon katsu bento box

Welp. This place felt below average. I do want to point out that the service here was great. Service was attentive and friendly, and definitely busy. So I admire the service work ethic. For that reason, I'm not lowering my review. Now the food... I order a shrimp appetizer and it felt bland. The sauce was way too sweet. For almost $9, it certainly felt like a rip off. Then I got a salmon katsu bento box and half of the items weren't good. The Salmon tasted bland and the katsu sauce tasted nasty. Surprisingly the rice was good. I found it warm, and fluffy. The California rolls were the worst rolls I've ever had. The crab had a weird taste with the sauce they had used. I think Safeway rolls tasted better imo. The salad was good. I enjoyed the sesame sauce that was used. Not sure if it's authentic Japanese but it was tasty. My bf roll was incorrect. His was suppose to be deep fried but it was not. He had also said his rice tasted as if they used tap water. Other than that, for the bill being $50, I would say it's not worth your coins. With that money, I much rather spend it elsewhere on knowing the quality of the food is tasty. They do have good days during the week (excludes Friday- Sunday) though with rolls being half off.

Thinking about sushi and a good deal stop in. The service was very on point. We never worried about an empty glass or what to order. Our server was very attentive. We watched the game, drank sushi bombs and gobbled down a few rolls with fried tempura. Oh the miso soup was pretty tasty too. My dinner partner said they have really good deals on rolls on certain days. I think he said Monday through Thursday but im not positive. We went on Sunday and I didn't pay so I'm not sure how much dinner cost. Definitely going again and wanting to try other options.

I know people go crazy over this sushi. It was just ehh for me. I think the lobster roll across the street is way better. our server was fine. She just didn't know the menu very well. The side salad is not a traditional Japanese sesame sauce , rather, it's sweet. I do not care for that... but if you do, you will love it. I'm also the girl that doesn't care for sweet relish or miracle whip either. If you do... that's your prerogative, but it's not for me. It was sooo cold in there too. I like to be warm and toasty while eating so I can take my coat off. It was raining outside and they had door open. We did ask them to shut door as they sat us near it. I guess I would give it another try... maybe I ordered wrong?

The restaurant is nestled in the cute downtown area of Hughson, their main street. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the staff and seated right away. We were there on a Thursday evening about an hour before closing, but the restaurant was packed with customers. The menu has an extensive selection of Chinese and Japanese dishes. I had the Bruce Li roll which had tempura shrimp topped with crab meat, salmon, tuna, spicy mayo and unagi sauce. I also 2 pieces of the Hamachi (yellowtail), miso soup, and spicy edamame. The fish was some of the freshest I've ever had - flavorful, definitely sushi grade, and I could tell that it also wasn't previously frozen due to the color and texture. The miso soup and the spicy edamame were well-seasoned and delicious. My nephew had a combination plate with orange chicken, broccoli beef, and chicken fried rice. One thing to note that was really nice is that the restaurant allows you to create your own combination plates, they're not set items with no substitutions. When our waitress brought my nephew's combo plate, the food looked freshly cooked and delicious! He ate every bite! If you're ever in Hughson, try the Hughson Asian Kitchen - the friendly staff and tasty food won't disappoint!

The dragon roll was mediocre at best and the house chow mein was so salty while the chicken chow mein on the combo plate I ordered had no flavor. The orange chicken was okay but the fried rice on the combo plate was dry and had no flavor. I definitely won't come back here since I didn't think it was very good.

DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION- YOU WILL GET SICK! If I could…read moregive this place 0, I would. The reviews definitely don't reflect the actual service and food at this location. Starting off, my best friend and I were in Modesto for Barnes and Noble to get some books for my son. This location being right next to the bookstore was convenient so we went inside. The young girl who served us looked disgusted the moment my best friend said she'd never eaten there and wasn't sure how to order. She looked at her like she was stupid and just said what do you want and was not helpful whatsoever. She got the small poke bowl and I got a small donburi bowl. After what took over 5 minutes for her getting our two bowls from us, she walked away after I paid and I had to ask another worker for a lid to my bowl. Whatever, service sucked, maybe she was having a bad day? We sat down to eat (still hadn't gotten the chicken tempura and gyoza I had ordered for my son). Before my son's food even was ready I had bitten into a very bad piece of shrimp tempura that tasted as if the inside of the batter was covered in mold. I immediately spit it back out into a napkin and just sat there about to throw up. I sat there thinking this is probably just a mistake and maybe I imagined it. Then my son showed me his chicken that he said he didn't want to eat. It was old, rubbery, did not resemble chicken at all, and had black stuff around the chicken under the batter. I went to the worker who was at the counter and told her what we had received. She didn't seem surprised at all, but more surprised I wanted a refund for the two items that were spoiled. No manager onsite, apparently they usually aren't there. She called the manager who did not answer the phone but proceeded to text the worker. Asking exactly what happened several times and then proceeded to say the black on the chicken is seasoning before it's fried, which is not true because the come pre battered and it was just old. I had accepted no refund on the chicken for the ridiculous excuse, but I wanted a refund on the donburi bowl at the very least. The manager asked her to open my napkin and send a pic of the shrimp!!!! THAT IS SO NASTY! That young girl does not get paid enough to be doing all of that. That is revolting! I ended up opening it for her so she didn't have to so she could and a pic. Then the manager stopped responding to her by text. That's fine, Manager, that's fine. You should've just given me a refund for your nasty ass food that was not edible. Now you'll be receiving a visit from the county health department as they were called the moment I left your restaurant because of the food being kept at room temperature, your dirty facility, and the spoiled food you're serving to paying customer. This idiot sent me into my Karen era and I do not even care. Don't mess with people's food. Good luck.
