The food was good, but unfortunately we had a disappointing experience during our visit. While a staff member was putting down chopsticks, he accidentally bumped the hot sauce, causing it to splatter all over my daughter's white top. As you can see from the photo, the stains are quite bad, and we will most likely have to throw the shirt away because they cannot be removed. He apologized when he bumped the sauce, but he didn't realize how much had gotten on my daughter's shirt. When I pointed it out to him and showed him what happened, he apologized again, which I appreciated. Accidents happen, and we understand that. However, since the incident ruined my daughter's top, I would have appreciated the restaurant taking a little more responsibility--perhaps offering some compensation, a discount, or something toward replacing the shirt. Unfortunately, nothing was offered. The food was good, but this experience was upsetting, especially seeing my daughter almost in tears over her shirt. I hope the restaurant can handle situations like this better in the future. read more

Tried Samurai Sushi and it was an okay experience. We ordered the 911 Roll, Volcano Roll, and Kiss Roll. The sushi itself was decent, and the restaurant is a nice little spot with a cozy vibe. The staff were friendly when we talked to them. One thing that could improve is the attentiveness. Our rolls came out without ginger or wasabi, and we had to ask for it afterward. It would be nice if that just came automatically with the sushi. The server also didn't really check back to see if we needed anything else. I'm a little shy about asking for things, so I always appreciate when restaurants anticipate those small details. Not pleased with this sushi restaurant. When we entered there was only 1 guy behind the sushi bar. And we were told to grab any table we wanted. There were another couple that cane in after we did and funny enough, they grabbed the menu instead of the menu being handed to the customers. That was red flag #1. Red flag number #2 should have been all the football KC memorabilia like the fake superbowl trophies. Are you serious?? Red flag #3 was they only had 2 bento box options in their badly worn out laminated menus: Chicken and Beef bento box w/o the option of getting sashimi. We just walked out of there as if there was a tornado and decided to eat at an actual sushi restaurant. Personally I have no idea why this place got such a high rating. Been going here from the beginning, even before it was sold and transferred to the new owners. They kept some of the original rolls and added a few of their own. It's become our favorite sushi spot in town! We usually stick to our go-to order: the Holy Cow and the "Taste Like My Ex-Boyfriend" roll (clever name!). We've met and talked with the owners several times, and they're always so genuine and proud of their work. You can really tell this place is family owned and operated, and the service is always great every time we come in. What an adorable place in the shopping center, it looks closed from the outside but that's because the inside is fully decorated with greenery and dimming lights. It really felt like being transported to not quite Japan, but close vibes. It's you're typical American sushi restaurant- I've never been to a sushi restaurant like it. I came here for dinner with my parents first night in town. Fair prices and clean. There is an atentative staff, but I like that they just do their job and leave you to eat in peace. We sat at the sushi bar. I got a specialty roll, which was incredible and a basic tuna roll that was fine. The solo bathroom was a bit lacking and it loses a star due to music. It was RNB music videos on repeat with lots of nudity and too loud for a conversation. Not something I am interested in watching with my parents. But overall, I think they will be back as they live in town! read more

We like to go to sit at the Sushi bar, to have goot time and occasionally convers with the chef, food is always good. But decore is getting so bad and last time we went for our anniversary dinner we were so disappointed with all the plastic crap and for god sake GUMMIE WORMS right on the counter and tons of plastic stuff. There are so many crap right in your face it looks so cheap, plastic stuff every where. So, as much is saddens me to say we left right away . Went on a weekend service was terrible. Sat down at the front sushi bar area took almost 30 minutes to get an order started. When finally ordered didn't get drinks until right before the food showed up but couldn't eat because we had no utensils (finally were brought later plastic forks) Food was just ok not worth the price. Edamame was covered in oil which tasted old. I guess short staffed because never got a refill or was asked for one. Ambiance was pretty bad samurai/sports what the hell is this place. I was excited to hear that Samurai Sushi was under new onwership. I had many issues with the previous owners over the course of several years. Ive had the wife snap at me before when I was dining in and didn't recieve one of my items. Their rolls were smothered in the same sauces and they all tasted the same, even though they had different proteins and fillings. Unfortunately, nothing seems to have changed. On Dec 27th, my neighbor and I decided to go give them a try. We live so close, we can walk there and both are sushi lovers. I picked up a California roll, Philadelphia roll, Elizabeth roll, sunset roll, sex bomb roll and combo tempura. Unfortunately, no avocado in my sex bomb as was listed on the sign and I didn't recieve any Wasabi or soy sauce. 2 of the rolls were almost exactly the same. My neighbor also was missing avocado and her lobster roll was crab instead. I didn't find a whole lot of flavor in the rolls. The only thing they have going for them is that the rolls are pretty large. I provided the same info above in the Turlock to go fb page and the owner himself responded, apologizing and saying he was out of town and his chefs made a mistake. He offered for us to have credit for the rolls. I have tried to get a hold of him on both instagram and in response to his own comment on my fb post an he has ignored everything for the past 3 weeks. He posts and shows as active on instagram, but doesn't respond to any comments or questions on the posts or in messages. I was really hoping that this place would have improved, especially being so close to home. I will just continue to frequent our normal location in town. read more

The seasoning was done very well. I was told only open for two months. It's a must-try. Also, Chef "C," said he has off-menu items, too. Hit him up. If you are in Turlock and need some sushi, try here. Right next to Baskin Robins I had Tako and the Mexican roll and one drink; my better half had her roll picks (two types ) $$ price was very reasonable. I have lived in Turlock for years and never been here I'm sad to say. Popped in today while the car was being serviced nearby. It's a cozy well decorated place, I was greeted as soon as I walked in by a server and the gentleman making sushi. I ordered a simple California roll and a Dancing Lion roll. Both rolls were not only beautifully presented, but quite delicious! I've found my new favorite spot and I can't wait to try more! Go... you won't be disappointed! read more
