Oh this place is amazing! Can't go wrong here. I crave this food on a regular basis. While I am vegan,, I would say this is a great spot for people who are veg curious, not vegan at all, or lifelong vegan. Atmosphere is so chill and calming. Staff are so freakin nice and fast. Definitely eat here, you won't be disappointed.

Thai tea (sweet) and water!

It's my first time at The Vegan Joint locations and since I had Jury Duty and left early I wanted to try something new. This popped up in the vicinity as I was getting gas on my way home. I was greeted upon my arrival, there's no parking lot but I was able to find parking at the meters on 10th st. It was still early breakfast and the place was immaculately clean! Paula was my server and was so incredibly sweet. There were also 2 guys working, one was in the back, I'm assuming chef who greeted me as well, and a staff cleaning the windows. I was really happy with how spotless the place was and a little overwhelmed with all my options I got to choose from! A good overwhelmed. I'm a vegetarian but am not a fan of mushrooms but I do love spice. I ordered the Thai tea, it was sweet and yummy. Paula also bbrought me a side of water with a lemon slice which I thought was so thoughtful. I ordered the wings because I'm a sucker for wings, it's a 4 count with raw celery and thetheir version of blue cheese. The wing sauce and blue cheese sauce were soooo good! Paula did tell me the wings are their top seller and I can see why! I was only able to scarf 3 down and saved the extra wing. I then orderd the VJ breakfast burrito (they have breakfast all day!) with brown rice added and requested a side of their spiciest sauce! The burrito came out hot, ingredients were fresh, and the sauce did not disappoint! I really was happy with everything here and am already planning my next order for my next visit! I also purchased their spicy Jerry from Vegan Soyami and am excited to give that a try too! 10/10 would absolutely recommend!

Came here for a late breakfast ona Sunday. Of course being Sunday, I was the only one where. I ordered a Build-Your-Own-Omlet. I liked the "egg" part of the omelet. It's made of tofu and wheat and gives it almost a temale like texture which I like. The veggies I chose were spinach, mushrooms and onions. It came with cheese. Flavors are clean, but the plate came with mild salsa which gave the omelet a nice little kick. The guac is creamy and even more spicy than the salsa which is too much for me. Overall good food, service and price.

Everyone loves a good joint right? Right! Vegan Thai dishes and Plant Based Cuisine as they describe their joint, and I ain't mad at it! They have so many delicious options to choose from, yall forget it ain't meat in it! One favorite was the chicken quesadilla, not too cheesy (vegan cheese of course) And the pumpkin curry, so creamy! Honorable mention to the hot drum sticks with the ranch because flavor and textures on point. A lot of the dishes had the chili symbol on the menu, so I was expecting some heat, especially for Thai food, but it was not one flame in sight, maybe next time we have to ask for more spicy? Nonetheless, for healthier alternatives, I enjoyed our experience , the parking was surprisingly easy for dtla (meters) the place was quiet and clean, the staff was super friendly, the food options were tasty and i would come back to try some other dishes for sure! 3.5/5 for now, i have more dishes we want to try. Happy eats, loves! ^_^

If you can look past the sketchy neighborhood this place is worth a try! Pretty intimate space. The service was 10/10, they're very nice in there. Made it feel homey. They also have a Polaroid camera for you to take pictures with, which was an expected bonus! Ok on to the good stuff... The drinks we ordered were refreshing. No complaints. The pancakes had phenomenal flavor, though as you can tell by the picture they're very thick. Get you some extra syrup if you like moisture on your pancakes because that thickness can be a lot to handle without it. Hashbrowns, delish. What I truly appreciate about this place is their generosity in portion size. It's not common for a vegan place to leave you feeling full without breaking the bank. I'd definitely go back here .

I'm on a veggie restriction mode for a few weeks and I was looking for a veggie restaurant near work and I found this place within walking distance. It's nice and clean. The food is delicious and portion size is great! Service was great also. It's very attentive and welcoming. My stomach didn't grumble or anything after eating here that means it's good food. Check them out!

My new favorite vegan restaurant! The garlic chicken burger had so much flavor, I loved the bean sprouts and pickles that complimented it. The spring rolls were very fresh and juicy with a delicious peanut sauce. My favorite item on the menu were the hot drum sticks! Wow!! I've never had vegan chicken be THIS GOOD. So tender with a great spicy kick. The sauce was incredible. The owner and staff are so attentive and kind. There's lots of metered parking around the area and it's easy to find. The interior is gorgeous. Obsessed with the flower wall! I love it when small businesses with great hearts behind the names flourish. I'll definitely be coming here again!!

Everything we've gotten here is so good! Pad Thai, Spicy mint noodle, spring rolls, egg rolls, curry, fried rice, tofu scramble, "chicken" nachos, pancakes, "chicken" drumsticks, TVJ smoothie, Blue Moon milk...Not only tasty but feels healthier. Service is fast too-everything's ready in 15 min or less!

Empty plates because the food was so yummy forget to snap a pic !!

Our first time at this location! Such a fun vibe ! The food was so good , very fresh and flavorful. The staff was super friendly and attentive. We will definitely come back when we are looking for a spot to eat while in DTLA . The prices are also veryyyyy reasonable especially for vegan food. 10/10 recommend.

Phattharaporn S.

Doesn't feel very Thai for a Thai but the food was very delicious. For someone who is not vegan to try this vegan food, it's great!! And I am comfortable replacing my everyday meal to be this ones. Chicken is amazing! One thing bothers me is that the green curry doesn't look or taste like green curry. It's delicious but just not what I expected despite adding fusion element to it. Parking was hard to find. Street park with meter around the location but free spots are a block away.

My husband looking around.

I can't believe it's been 12 years--and I'm so happy to say it was every bit as incredible as I remembered. My friend and I came for lunch. I ordered the vegetable pho, and she had the curry rice. Both dishes were absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, comforting, and beautifully prepared. Honestly, I wish we had more time because we had another appointment downtown. I would have loved to try more dishes and definitely dessert! Our server was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and incredibly professional. He checked on us at just the right moments without ever feeling intrusive. The service was as impressive as the food. The restaurant has such a warm, relaxing atmosphere. I especially loved the beautiful ceramic water cups with bird designs--they were so unique and charming. Even the water tasted wonderful! I'm thrilled that Au Lac is still thriving after all these years. If anything, the food tasted even better than I remembered. I certainly won't wait another 12 years before coming back. In fact, I was so impressed that I convinced my husband to come with me next Saturday for dinner! I've tried many vegan restaurants over the years, and Au Lac remains my absolute favorite. My favorite on the Westside is Variable Café, but if you're willing to drive a little farther, Au Lac is on another level. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. She said the house salad was better the last time she came bc the lettuce was different. She recalled it was Romaine lettuce last time. This time it was a green salad. I had the lemongrass fish which was made of soybean. It was a little too dry and rubbery for me. I kept putting it in my soup with rice to make it taste better, but ran out of soup. I won't be ordering this dish again. I took half home, cut up the soybean fish and added it to a stew. I didn't mention to my server that it was my bday, but was disappointed that he didn't even offer like regular servers do, "Would you like to see the dessert menu?" I didn't tell him it was my bday nor did I ask for the dessert menu bc I wasn't the one paying the bill. Not that I needed dessert, but it would've been nice to have been asked. When I mentioned this to another server who came by to clear our table that our server didn't even ask if we wanted dessert and that the restaurant doesn't seem to want to push its desserts, he quickly brought us a dessert menu, but my friend was already paying our bill - too late! It would've been nice to be asked earlier. I even had candles in my bag just in case we got dessert. Anyway, this server said he'll tell our server about not offering dessert. The next day I came back with another friend after a Music Center event. My server from the day before recognized me. This time he asked us at the start before we ordered or after we had just ordered whether we'd like to see the dessert menu. Huh? Ask at the END not start of a meal! Instead of embarrassing him, I told him, "No, thanks. My bday was yesterday." On this second day, my friend and I shared a Chinoise salad (delicious and refreshing!) and paella (not like a paella, a little too wet and granular for our taste, but healthy - a living food dish). We had mint and lemon water for both meals. $12 parking in the adjacent structure. Free parking passes at the Music Center if you're a season ticket holder or good luck with finding street parking. I'd still continue to occasionally patronize this restaurant when I have Music Center events bc I want to support veganism, the restaurant; however, I was disappointed with some of the food and waitstaff this weekend. I'd suggest that the waitstaff go thru customer training on when/what/how to talk to customers. Incentive from the website: join the rewards plan - 300 points for 30% off the bill and 100 points for a free dessert! I'm aiming for the free dessert!!

He's vegan, and I'm currently following a plant based diet, so it seemed like a perfect fit. We actually found the restaurant after looking on the app InKind (highly recommend btw!), specifically for places with vegan food. They have a parking lot on the side of the building. Not many spaces but grateful for the option! They have seating outside and inside, and I guess inside is both "restaurant" or "dining room." Not sure the difference, but we sat at a table close to the window which was nice. The inside decor is really cute. Beautiful string lights, cookware on the walls, and there was even an old movie playing on a projector. It felt pretty authentic and adorable. Servers were very attentive. We had Adi and he was really sweet. We were brought water right away. And they serve fresh vegan focaccia bread with a DELICIOUS pesto sauce before your meal. Honestly, that pesto is something I want to take home and drink. So good. We decided to both order from the vegan menu. When else can you get fresh vegan Italian?! We got their version of vegan carpaccio as an appetizer. Which was oddly turkey based? (Vegan of course). But truly one of the most unexpectedly yummy things I've had in awhile. The mayo type sauce on it was delicious. The lettuce and capers were a great touch. And it had some sort of mustard stuffed olives that I could eat forever. My fiancé got the lasagna as a main. And I got the pesto spaghetti. Ironically I ended up liking the lasagna more and he liked the spaghetti so we swapped haha. Both were delicious. As someone who isn't vegan and loves meat and cheese, I can confidently say that lasagna was one of the best I've had in so long. At the end they treated him to a delicious small vegan ganache cake and a birthday candle. It was simple and appreciated. The only negatives I have is that the wine was pretty pricey for the bottles they had. And even though I requested a booth (they had several open), and mentioned the birthday in the reservation, I had to repeatedly mention the birthday, and we got seated at a table. Little things, but still something I wish was different. Overall will definitely go back though!
