The meal I ate was excellent. I ordered a Burrito and buffalo wings and they were cooked to perfection.

So a friend found this place based off their IG page so I was skeptical. I was even more skeptical…read morewhen I pulled into the parking lot which is quite dilapidated and many of the store fronts are empty. However, I know from traveling that some of the best spots are ones that appear to be a hole in the wall. I walked in, very cute inside! Staff was welcoming and I cozied right up at the bar to wait for my friend. I was immediately brought chips and salsa and a cold beer. We ended up sitting at a high top and our waitress suggested that I try either carne asada from the Mexican menu or Vaca Frita from the Cuban menu. I love me some carne asada but I was intrigued but this 'fried shredded beef' that was marinated in mole and cooked in a hot skillet until crispy. She suggested sweet plantains to go with it and white rice with beans which is traditional Cuban (instead of yellow rice). IT WAS FABULOUS! It was crispy on the outside and juicy. The mole was flavorful but not spicy and i appreciated that the meat was not dripping in sauce. My dinner date ordered chicken tamales which were seasoned in a Cuban style with yellow rice. She is used to Mexican tamales but said these really hit the spot! The only blemish on the nice was her second margarita which was the cucumber one which she didn't like at all. However, the first one she ordered (pictured) which was a different flavor was a show stopper.

We had a very long table and the servers were great in getting our orders. I ordered the Horchata in the lunch special, Lechon asado. The Horchata was delicious and not too sweet, which was great. I really liked my lechon asado. It was a good portion but the one thing is my plantains were pretty burned. I also got to try some of my mom's tacos. And those were yummy as well. Would come back!

Let me start off by saying that I am a taco aficionado from the great state of Texas. So I know me…read moresome delicious Mexican authentic street tacos and I LOVE a hole in wall "dive" restaurant as much as anyone!! So don't mistake my review as being judgmental of the building (I actually think it's cute...and I've wanted to try this place before but my boyfriend is not an adventurous foodie...had to wait until I was in the area solo). Anyhow, now to get to the review....This place was average at best. The tacos had thin single layer of corn tortillas that fell apart when you went to pick them up. The meat selections were either too dry or too fatty and too greasy (the chicken was dry ...Pastor and the Carnitas was like chewing through fat). I did not like the lettuce or cheese on top. I prefer the more simple style of tacos with onion, cilantro, and maybe a little tomatoe. Prices were average for what you got. One person that worked there was very friendly and helpful, the other one was not very chatty and I detected a bit of a language barrier. The pastries did look quite delicious, but I did not sample any of those so I can't speak to their flavor or quality. Overall it was an average experience and I was hoping for a lot more. There are a lot of other taco places in the area that I will be trying next.

We dined here for lunch on a Friday and were seated promptly but they did a server swap since they saw that we were non Spanish speaking Gringos and needed a server who spoke English. Cesar was our server and he too was very nice. He brought us the complimentary fried flour tortilla chips and the 3 salsas, which he explained the level of heat for each. They were all tasted fresh made and quite delicious. My husband ordered a Chicken Burrito that was totally stuffed and I ordered 3 tacos. (Carnitas, Beef Barbacoa, & De Chivo- goat Barbacoa) They were all garnished with radish slices, sauteed onions, and a lime wedge. Truly authentic. The restaurant is very big inside with a nice bar area, a stage for music, a video screen and lots of sombreros to have a spirited time in the evenings. There are shelves along the wall where they have authentic clay Mexican bowls, cups, and other very pretty objects for sale but I didn't see the prices. On the table napkin dispensers, there were advertisements for their daily specials. For the ladies, they will bring a wooden tree to hang your purse, which I thought was pretty special. The decor was really fun, too. Outside they have a quick service food stand/truck in the large parking lot when you need just one more taco for the road or a quick bite on the way home. I very much enjoyed my dining experience here and will definitely be coming back because the menu looked amazing in decriptions. Come for the food and great service because it was a great meal.

Its ambiance is welcoming and very unpretentious. Very casual and authentic. The menu is complete. It literally has everything you would want in a Mexican restaurant. I have to say that the taco varieties are amazing and very flavorful. The micheladas are very good and refreshing. You must try the taco de lengua and the tripa.... but in reality they are all good and their sauces are perfect. (Maybe not too spicy) but it is something you can always ask for more. Parking is easy and getting a table is also not hard. The place has lots of tables. Great service and prices. Definitely recommend coming here.

Fast-forward to now, and it's been a slow, painful decline. Today I decided to give it one last shot and ordered the enchiladas. And honestly? This was the farthest thing from enchiladas I've ever had in my life. I don't know if it's because I don't look Mexican and they figured I wouldn't notice, but what they served was borderline insulting. They literally took the salsa you dip chips in, blended it, poured it over dry chicken wrapped in tortillas, threw on some cheese, and sent it out like that. No flavor. No authenticity. Just... sadness. I didn't even take a picture because it wasn't worth taking up space in my phone. That's how bad it was. The only saving grace of the entire experience was the waitress - curly black hair, absolute sweetheart, and the reason I didn't message the restaurant directly to complain. You rock. Your kindness and compliments made me feel like a superstar, and you honestly deserve to work somewhere that matches your energy. So yeah, five stars for the waitress, one star for the food.
