At first impression: Wasn't busy, kind of dark, Cash only. Decided to try it anyway... got the combo which was not cheap. I thought I was going to still be hungry after eating it. I was WRONG. I opened up my box and I had enough food to feed two people. And everything was on point. I have no complaints about the food. My only other issue was all my food was covered in bbq. He immediately snaps back with some bullsh*t as if he don't have a lunch special menu hanging big af in the restaurant. BEWARE! Very disorganized and poorly run. I would often call or come by to place an order but either they didn't pick up or were unexpectedly closed during normal posted business hours. My first order was a couple of years ago when I ordered fried chicken and paid for it but after 20 minutes was given BBQ chicken claiming they ran out of fried chicken earlier in the day. Why would you not tell me this when I ordered instead of substituting without consent? Today, I thought I would try again and asked specifically if he had everything in the Combo meal. He said yes, and I ordered it with fried chicken. First I was charged more than $28 instead of the $22 on the menu + tax. If prices changed, then it should be posted or explained. Then the combo had a couple of thin pieces of sliced beef instead of the expected beef rib. Another bait and switch. Fried chicken was moist but lacked any seasoning. I've been coming here since I was in high school in the early 2000s and it's one of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles. I've never had hot links that come close to theirs and the tangy BBQ sauce is incredible. They've always been super friendly to my friends and I as well. Very unassuming restaurant with minimal seating, but don't let the strip mall location or size deter you, these artists know what they're doing. I usually get the quarter chicken with two sides and it's plenty of good. They recently switched from styrofoam containers to re-useable containers (the chicken sometimes melted the styrofoam). They're always busy so my recommendation is to call ahead with your order, or bring your patience... but you'll be well rewarded. And try not to inhale their mac&cheese. read more

I found uncle andre's in the late 90's, this was my spot for bbq. It is its own thing, but well worth it. I live in Nashville now and I've tried so many different places in the south being in the road. Andre's is still very unique and amazing, I can't say enough. What's better is the boys are from my home town San Diego and they show the love for our city. Go pointers!!! The food is great, all around, from meats to sides. No complaints. 5 Star even. (Which is the only reason this gets 2 stars instead of 1) When you can get it. This might be one of the most unreliable food establishments I've ever been to. The hours they post online, and on their door, seem to mean absolutely nothing. I'm always in the hunt for a good mom and pop BBQ place. This popped up Yelp. Pictures alone were enough to entice my visit. Parking - the lot isn't too small, but does get crowded. Studio City is notorious for parking enforcers so be careful with street parking. Bathroom - none! Drops a star. Being that BBQ is basically a finger food, I would prefer to wash my before the meal as well. How on Earth are you going to eat BBQ, get your fingers all sticky from sauce and not have a bathroom to wash up? No hand wipes offered either. So either you'll have to rely on their napkins or bring some hand wipes. BBQ beef ribs - Best part is they are boneless! I believe this place uses a dry rub, because the meat was so overly seasoned and salty that I couldn't get past two bites. I tried pouring extra BBQ sauce but that was way too vinegary. My stomach was getting pissed off, and I didn't want to have any stomach problems at a place WITHOUT a bathroom! BBQ chicken - this was really good. Juicy and tender. Collard greens - It taste like it was boiled in vinegar and Tabasco. It stripped my tongue of any living taste buds. Mac and cheese - This was pretty good. It was very cheesy, and gooey. Sweet potatoes - it honestly tasted like they were from the can and just microwaved. Banana pudding - no bananas in the pudding. How are you going to call this banana pudding and not put any bananas? The pudding itself was just overall lacking. Peach cobbler - "We don't have any today." When I asked if they had them on specific days. The cashier frustratedly replied, "We don't have any today." We just moved to the area and have been hitting up all of the local BBQ joints. Boyfriend stopped here after work and picked up our dinner to go. He said the service was very friendly. The food took a while, but thats because they cooked it fresh. The trip tip was put on when it was ordered. 20 minutes later and a short drive we were good to go. I thought the tri tip had nice flavor and was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The seasoning was decent and the accompany sauce was just ok. We also had the baby back ribs half slab ( wanted a full slab but there was a mix up). Sauce on the side helped keep it low carb. The ribs were average. Slightly tender and with a good char. This is a cool little whole in the wall type of place located in a small strip mall in a mostly residential area of Studio City. This is mostly a take-out place that caterers to the local studio crowd, but they do have some seating if you cannot resist the urge to chowdown on your food. Unlike others, I don't see this as a detriment as I prefer my food to be cooked with the passion that these guys have for their BBQ. They have a pretty simple menu of traditional southern BBQ favorites. BBQ Chicken, Fried Chicken, Hot Links, Ribs, sides of red beans and rice, collard greens, mac & cheese, etc... For me, the stand by's here are its BBQ chicken which as previously stated is grilled to order. The sauce and seasoning is on par and they apparently marinate these bad boys for some time prior to use. One hour later I arrive at this EXTREMELY unassuming little joint. Strip mall, semi residential area, VALLEY!!!! AMAZING!!!!! Um, AMAZING!!! The place is itty bitty, and the decor could be improved although the signed photos of Mary J Blige and Dolly Parton on the wall need to stay. I wanted to place an order for delivery through Postmates. Postmates listed the restaurant as being closed, despite it being 5:30pm on a Tuesday. I decided to give Uncle Andre's a call and sure enough, they were open. I tried to politely inform the gentleman on the phone that Postmates mistakenly had them listed as closed. I decided to order takeout from Andre's for the first time myself. It is close by and seemed like a good option. I've tried some of their other dishes ordered by family in the past. I ordered the ribs, which were fairly good. Not the best in LA and not the best price, but they hit the spot. What was disappointing was the customer service. The brunette/dark haired lady working the register could stand to learn a thing or two about customer service. Look, I understand that it's been a long day and you want to go home, but there's no need to cop a salty attitude when a first time customer asks you simple questions. Apparently other reviewers have taken notice of their end of day rudeness as well. Personally, the experience left a sour taste in my mouth.
