Don't sleep on Uncle Andre's! Everything is GREAT and can't beat the prices. Portions are nice size. They have lunch specials daily Monday to Friday from 12-2.

Half rack of baby backs, Mac and cheese, and candied yams

Finally tried this place after having it on my list for probably about a year. Ordered two half rack baby back plates. Both with Mac and cheese, one with corn, one with yams (because they were all out of beans, sadly). It took close to 20 minutes from when I ordered to when I was out the door with our food and then about another 20 minutes until I was home and our food was still really hot. Mac and cheese was tasty and had a homemade feel. Yams were good but could have been a little sweeter, but that's just a personal preference. I was actually taken aback when I opened the box and saw how much meat was on those rib bones! The bark was on point! The meat was perfectly tender (not quite falling off the bone but close) and cooked well. I personally prefer a little more of a sweet saucy bbq rib, though. These are definitely not sweet at all and are only ever so slightly sticky. Again, personal preference and could be remedied by just having a little of my own bbq sauce on hand. Overall, it was tasty and the guy who took my order was super friendly. And for the price, you can't beat it! (21 dollars for a half slab and two sides). They take cash and zelle. Which I knew the zelle part before I ordered because I wanted to try the peach cobbler but didn't have enough cash on me to add that on. Will definitely be back to try some other items like the brisket and the fried catfish!

(Took Out 02/13/24 TU @ 4:00pm): Uncle Dre's BBQ for Fat Tuesday! For my carnivore fix before the start of Lent season that resulted in my annual cleanse of no alcohol and meat, I sought out Uncle Andre's BBQ as a new BBQ place for me to try. The pictures and reviews on Yelp sold me, and coincidently I was working in the area which made it very convenient. I always harped on the fact that there were no BBQ joints in my Silver Lake hipsterhood (I guess it wasn't healthy enough), but the San Fernando Valley had ample choices. Would Uncle Andre send me into BBQ bliss!? PURCHASE 6pc Half Baby Back Ribs Dinner w/Mac & Cheese & Macaroni Salad Sides ($20.95): Each rib was meaty, sizable, and very tender as everything fell off the bone. The sauce was slightly sweet and tangy and just enough to cover the meat. Under normal conditions, I would've ordered a full rack and had some leftovers the next night, but I couldn't do that this time around. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=1ja-2fKFckizb62h4gL-5Q&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Side Mac & Cheese (Included): Creamy, gooey, hearty, and peppery this was a lovely meal in itself with plenty of extra cheese. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=SBjW5iisuhgPMHv0Ooft4g&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Side Macaroni Salad (Included): Wonderfully firm pasta with barely any mayonnaise (a plus!) but it seriously needed some pineapple (that's how I liked it). https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=HKyS_A5EKXvQ3YXRCrK70g&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw 2pc Chicken BBQ Dinner w/Baked Beans & Cole Slaw Sides ($14.95): A gigantic breast and thigh were the parts I received, and I couldn't be happier! The meat was so moist and tender while the sauce was the same as the ribs. I stuffed myself with all of this goodness. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=HL0zPtcUP_l3F7kxmeQrXQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Side Cole Slaw (Included): I usually wasn't a cole slaw fan, this was actually nice, crunchy, a tad peppery, some spice, and not very soupy - well done! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=9HMOggUkSnmncimtCaMYBQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Side BBQ Baked Beans (Included): Soft beans simmered in the lovely aforementioned barbecue sauce, I was tooting my own horn a couple of hours later. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=CPI6t7VI5YsnL7fZI-IztQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Peach Cobbler ($5.00): An enjoyable dessert with chunks of crust and peach, plenty of cinnamon, served warm, and all of the gooey juices was simply soothing. I wished I had an entire pie or leftovers. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=uB-B0JkdIOeXccsQcQLUUA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Credit Card Fee ($1.00): It was all good! SERVICE I was greeted by two gentlemen behind the tiny order counter. I quickly knew what I wanted and placed my order. I took a seat and relaxed while I watched the constant flow of customers who picked up their orders. About 15 minutes later, my order was packed and ready to go. Everything was easy and straightforward - greatly appreciated! PARKING (FREE) They shared a small parking lot with a handful of other businesses in a tiny strip mall. Otherwise, there was limited parking along the main drags of Moorpark St. (where I parked), Colfax Ave., and all surrounding side streets - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A quaint eatery that was mainly a takeout restaurant with a couple of booths and chairs/tables https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=1pSwMsDTkPAZ5iWHN53iKg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw to enjoy your meal onsite. Many framed celebrity photos hung on peach-colored walls. Easily legible menus https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=rCCBmMjUjmRnUu8TMJZCqw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw hung above the order counter. A decent amount of natural light came through the large glass wall windows and doors while soul-sucking fluorescent electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There was one TV while disco, hip-hop, and soul music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=mHuL2svdIenqHwmNjVxR1A&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Uncle Andre's BBQ happily led me into Lent, and I couldn't wait to return to try more of their Southern food and varied menu. I loved the portion sizes and service, while I felt the prices were maybe a tad high (but dammit, the food was good!). And of course, I was happy to support another small mom & pop local business! I found total value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $46.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... Uncle Andre..... where you been all my life?? This place is small with 4 tables for dining. I ordered combo platter with greens and mac and cheese and the piece of chicken fried. I must say this is the best bbq I have had since moving to Los Angeles. Finally a place that uses seasoning. The fried chicken, seasoned well while being crispy and juicy. Brisket was thinly sliced and tasty. Hot link.... I'm mad I didn't order two of them I'm wanting more. Babybackribs are good, but I enjoyed the other meats better. those greens though....so flavorful. Mac and cheese was also good. We have a peach cobbler that we have not tried yet but I am sure I won't be disappointed. Parking was my biggest complaint about this restaurant. I would bring someone with you so they can run in and grab your order.

Nice, friendly, family oriented restaurant and the food speaks for itself!! This is one of my favorite BBQ places to go!! Highly recommended to all!! Service is great! There's several options when it comes to BBQ, and the sides are amazing!!

Lots of pepper on meat and Mac and cheese

Food was awful it had a lot of black pepper in both Mac and cheese and potato salad !!!the potato salad was soggy with a whole egg yolk in it not chopped up !!! Look at pictures !!!

The sides in my opinion were okayyy.. However, 4 stars to Uncle Andre's because they have a niche that cannot be found elsewhere. Their bbq is the type of bbq you only find at cookouts. The bbq immediately transported me to a summer day at the park with friends and family.

Did this spot get shut down? I've need trying to call in and order but no one answers and I drove by and it was closed with a help wanted sign

I've been hesitant because it is in a trickier area, but I had no issues pulling in or parking! They have a few spots in the front, but otherwise I'm sure there is parking around the neighborhood. You walk inside to order and it is not a fancy looking place, but the people cooking the meat definitely know what they're doing!! It felt like an authentic Texas bbq spot. I didn't want the frills, I just wanted good food and that's what I got. I sat at a little table outside which was perfectly pleasant! The road wasn't too loud or anything. But really, the sandwich was SO good. I doused it in the spicy bbq and added the pickles and coleslaw and I ate the WHOLE thing. I shouldn't have. But it was great!! I want to come back and try their other bbq meats and sides!! I loved the pulled pork sandwich and would recommend sharing it if you do order it. Yum!! The service was great, too!!

The accurate rain forecast changed our Sunday adventuring plans, but considering the food we were…read moregoing to get into, BBQ felt like a sensible substitute. We hadn't visited since February, 2020. Before the pandemic might as well have been 10 years ago, if the world shut down 6 years ago. We were overdue for a followup visit. Judging by how the food went down, we were sore for it. We ordered the Big Tex: four meats and four sides - tri-tip, brisket, pulled pork and links; kale greens, bbq beans, mac and cheese and fries. We opted for the cornbread in the roll slot. It should be the top meats in your order, by premium scale and availability, but more often than they should be, the brisket/tri-tip selections are, 90%, obligatory orders. I think I have a love/hate relationship with the way LA treats the pepperoni pizza of bbq meats. Swinging Door broke us off proper though. Not too fatty. Great tenderism. And the accompanying sauce complemented the smoked all stars, rather than compensated for lack of flavor. Didn't stop me from loving their Whiskey bbq sauce though. The beans were a true bbq side, swimming in a mild sauce and containing lovely chunks of link. And the kale greens - sheesh - I think they might've switched to kale since our first visit. An effective exercise in alternative ruffage that holds seasoning and jucies for a similar bbq/soulfoud bite. We live further away now. Took the food to go, to prevent the intermittent rain from foiling more of our plans. It traveled well. And since I'm using our leftover bbq sauce on every other meal I cook, I'd say we successfully made do with our lunch substitute.

The waffle is crunchy, and the chicken is full of flavor and crunch as well. Their Mac & Cheese felt home made, with better pasta, and really enjoyed their ranch, and honey mustard dips. I saw the reviews and photos and I knew I just had to stop by. Thankfully I had read the review about parking because it can definitely be confusing. Parking is street parking and a short walk to the restaurant. I did see a lot up ahead when I initially turned in the driveway but the sign looks like it's meant for a different business. I found parking right before Weddington and walked to Bruxie. On my way a shady character started following me and speaking to me and I power walked to the restaurant to get away. As I turned the corner I was greeted by friendly staff. There is someone behind the window to take orders but also someone outside the window able to take orders as well. After looking at the menu I orderd the Nashville hot chicken sandwich with a side of waffle fries, and also a breakfast burrito with a side of tots (that I planned to eat tomorrow morning). I paid and then waited in the shade of the outdoor seating which has allot of shade and it's a nice area to sit. My food was ready in maybe 15 to 20 minutes and then I walked back to my car as I had to get to my next destination. Unfortunately that shady man was waiting for me and when I rounded the corner he acted like he was ignoring me but then he started following me again!!! I ended up taking advantage of my long legs and I did a long legged power walk back to my car leaving him in the dust. People saw me walking so fast with such long strides and were looking at me like I'm crazy. When I looked back the man was still walking my way staring straight at me but thankfully he can't walk fast to catch up to me. The point of me writing about this is to be careful on this street, keep your eyes on your surroundings and do not get distracted staring at your phone. On my way driving to my destination I started nibbling on the waffle fries and they were so perfect! I don't know how to explain the puffy crunch that comes with them as you bite down. So perfectly crispy yet soft! I then decided to try the tots and they are perfection too! The perfect amount of spice that gives a hint of spicy but it's not overwhelming. I wasn't planning to eat both the fries and the tots but before you know it I arrived at my destination and both were in my belly! I then ate the Nashville chicken sandwich, absolutely delicious and generous portion, I love the taste again spicy but not overwhelming, it was perfect. My only wish is that the chicken could have been a thicker piece of chicken but it was a thin long piece. Other than that it definitely hit the spot. I am looking forward to eating my breakfast burrito tomorrow morning!

I ordered the double cheeseburger, and it was absolutely delicious. The burger was packed with flavor, the cheese was perfectly melted, and the buns were soft, fluffy, and airy. The patties weren't smash burgers and were on the thinner side, but they were still juicy and satisfying. My husband ordered the BBQ burger, and he really enjoyed his as well. For our side, we shared the loaded tots. They were crispy, well-seasoned, and a great addition to the meal. Service was good overall. The cashier seemed a little serious at first and didn't really greet us, but when we asked to swap out a drink, she was very accommodating and didn't charge us extra. There was a small misunderstanding when I asked about side options, but she quickly explained that another table had the menu and went to grab one for us. She was friendly and helpful throughout the rest of the interaction. The restaurant was clean, which I always appreciate. The atmosphere could use a little improvement, though. It felt a bit stuffy inside, two of the three menu screens weren't working, and it was very quiet with no music playing, which made the dining room feel a little empty. Overall, the food was definitely the highlight and I'd come back for the burgers and loaded tots.
