Walked in to Uncle Bucks because we wanted to try something new. We were almost deterred because they had a huge dress code sign near the menu in the front entrance. We thought the dress code was a little ridiculous because the restaurant wasn't that fancy, the servers were all wearing flannel button downs. They had a big beer menu and wine menu, but lacked a specialty drink menu. They did have a fully stocked bar, so I asked for a gin and tonic. I don't think the bartender knew how to make a gin and tonic because my drink tasted like Sprite. We started with the fried cheese curds which were pretty good, it looked like they gave you a huge portion then we realized they put short pieces of French fries in the bottom of the basket to push up the curds. Then I had the burger, which sounded really good because it said it was a custom blend of Chuck, short rib, and brisket so I ordered it medium rare, and unfortunately it came out well done. The cheese and sauce on the burger really didn't have enough flavor, but the bun was probably the best thing on the plate. I went to Uncle Bucks with some friends after a work event to grab some food. Instantly loved the music they were playing from the outside. Then when we walked in and a host greeted us at the front. They sat us in one their comfy booths with a great view of the TV. We started off with the duck nachos which have their own fun twist to it, we loved them! Then we got cheese curds, shrimp tacos, steak sandwich and lamb gyro!! The cheese curds MELT in your mouth, I have never had better cheese curds in my life. I'm obsessed and will be back for them and they come with nicely seasoned fried underneath them, yummy. The shrimp tacos had melted chihuahua queso on then which made them scrumptious with avocado on top and crunchy shrimp! On to the steak sandwich which came on a home made bun with tender steak, can't go wrong. Mmmmm finally the gyro, not your typical shaved gyro meat. It's even better, tender and juicy lamb meat with delicious tzatziki sauce. Upgraded the fries for a side caesar salad which didn't disappoint. Overall if you like delicious food, great environment and somewhere to have a good time, it's Uncle Bucks. I came to Uncle Buck's for a recent Packer against the Lions. Kelsey (the bartender) was a delight and was right in front of us whenever we needed another round. I was also glad to hear that when I came in that they had great specials for the Packer game and a giveaway on top of the deals! The wings were giant and the house made sauce was so good. OK, I feel compelled to tell a story about our recent experiences here. These guy are, BY FAR, our favorite kids on the block. Our group is from NW Indiana has been coming up there 4 or 5x a yr for weekend party getaways bc, frankly, Chicago sucks. Cute as a button, attentive, engaging, funny, sassy and cool. We came back this past weekend and came in on Friday BC of her and the vibe of the joint. We had a blast. Finished a nearly bottle of your top shelf bourbon and the GM Lawrence wasted no time at all, despite how busy you guys were, and found us another bottle without even asking. We would have been perfectly content sampling the rest of your impressive choice of options. My wife later decided she wanted one of your zip up hoodies. Her size wasn't readily available from your stock. Their Ops Mgr, Ricardo, went above and beyond and damn near dismantled the display case to check the size of the display piece. It worked and he made the sale being completely friendly and NEVER pushy. We came back the next evening because of the level of customer service we got on Friday. The SECOND we walked thru the door we were met by your GM Lawrence: "Hey, yall are back for more! These people at the end of the bar are leaving, c'mon." And walked us over to the seats. He spoke with the bartender, made a motion in our direction and before you knew it the bar was cleaned and we had fresh cocktail napkins and drink orders being taken. TRULY VIP service. We were blown away. I was most impressed with even being remembered, let alone THAT level of customer service. In an area of LITERALLY dozens of options to drink/eat/party at, they've set the standard for service that will bring people back. Already looking to book our next trip. Although I like the location, the rooftop, drinks, and people, the main item that needs improvement is the food. It looks very presentable when it comes out but the taste is very bland. For an appetizer, my wife & I got the flatbread and it was not fully cooked. Think it needed an extra few minutes in the oven. I got a chicken sandwich that looked amazing; however there was no flavor/seasoning on the sandwich and had a very bland taste. My wife got the Mac & cheese and, again, did not have any taste to it. Food was amazing! We visited Uncle Bucks for a 30th Birthday and the atmosphere was fun and upbeat which made it perfect for this event! They also gave us a semi private room for no additional cost which was amazing! This space allowed us to decorate a little and get up and mingle without bother other guest! Wow! What a fantastic transformation from the old spot. I ordered the vegan burger, I'm not a vegan, and it was delicious. My husband had the hot beef sandwich with fries. I couldn't help but try his sandwich. Everything about his sandwich was spot on. The fries are hand cut and we're yummy. Curds were rock solid and the vibe is so cool. Our kids loved their burger and man-n-cheese, not to mention the video game area. Kept them busy. Went upstairs after dinner to check out the views. The food here is amazing! I had the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and it was some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. I also ordered the cheese curds as an appetizer and they were delicious, the batter was light so it didn't feel like eating something heavy before your meal. Uncle bucks is an awesome concept for a bar having a woodland theme and great taxidermy pieces. Red Star, the club upstairs, is out of this world! But my favorite view has to be that rooftop bar. I came in after I saw the happy hour sign outside. I was in town from Chicago for a few days and this place blew any of my hometown bars out of the water. I was pleasantly greeted by my bartender Christian. He let me try a few taps and narrowed it down to a beer that I really enjoyed. I wasn't hungry walking in but he recommended the Asian Chicken Nachos and they were amazing! This is definitely my new regular spot when I am in Milwaukee.
