Appetite was killed before ever I received the meal. Awful curbside pickup experience. I called in for a takeout dinner order and it was evident the person I spoke to wasn't knowledgeable about the takeout menu and I got the impression they prefer you to just order online, ok fine. Placed order on website. When I got there I followed the directions for carry out (text the number and give your stall number) I sat there for 45 minutes AFTER my estimated pickup time, while other drive up customers came and left with their food. I want to stress that they were not busy , (it was a mellow weeknight). Finally after I reached a boiling point of being clearly skipped over, I asked the carry out dude that kept walking by my car and avoiding eye contact if mine would be ready soon. He asked my name and asked if I texted that I'd arrived (yes!) Then he comes out with my food and it was lukewarm and hardened. How long would I have been sitting there if I didn't get his attention?! To me, if there's an order sitting idle up in the takeout area for over 40 minutes, you take the initiative to investigate and follow up. It was almost $60 worth of dinner! To me, if you walk back and forth past a car sitting in your curbside parking spot, you greet the person and see why they've been sitting there for so long. I felt ignored and very let down. One star because the carry out kid with the man bun was a sweetie and obviously flustered. I've been there! All to find that the food is OVERPRICED mediocre Tex Mex. We ordered for pickup and were very happy with our choices. I ordered 3 enchiladas (2 beef, 1 cheese) my wife ordered the taco plate and my daughter ordered the veggie quesadillas and 8 margaritas. The margaritas were the best and for $5 a piece, what a steal. My wife had an issue with the tacos as the steam from the container made them a bit of a mess and were no longer hard shell and ended up being mushy. The service was great and ready to go when we showed up for pickup. The special for the margaritas end on 9/7 so it's time to stock up. read more

6-11-2022 - Early Father's Day Dinner with my SO's family, I was extremely unimpressed and will not return. The food is over priced and really nothing special. Our server was very nice and extremely patient, she took her time taking our orders which included some special orders and read back the order to confirm she had it right. No issues with the server, she was very good. The menu is extremely limited for vegetables. At a Mexican restaurant you can typically substitute rice for vegetables for an up charge or a side salad for no up charge. At this establishment they are tremendously rigid with substitutions, we were told to substitute grilled vegetables we would have to order the grilled vegetable fajita meal for $18. That is ridiculous, the response was a first for me. After many questions we were told they could substitute grilled onions and bell peppers for the rice, or switch cilantro rice for Mexican rice. Food took 50+ minutes. The grilled fish tacos were good $15 for two. The Honey Chipotle Salmon portion is not worthy of $24 price. The salmon was spicy. The consensuses of our table is that the black beans were very good and the best item here. One of the entrees had to be remade twice. The first time the chicken was burned and just flipped over, burnside on the bottom. By the time the entree was served (for the 3rd time) it was a 90+ minutes after ordering, everyone at the table was done. When the bill was dropped off, the waitress informed us they removed the charge for that meal. Our waters were refilled once, however not again after that. The women's restrooms needed attention, both paper dispensers were jammed. There were no other options to dry your hands. I left the bathroom with wet hands and had to use my cloth napkin back at the table. I informed the hostess of the issue and she immediately went to the restroom to check it out. A few minutes later another worker went to the restroom and I followed because I needed to wash hands again, they felt sticky from the soap. The woman fixed only one of the dispensers and then left. But I was good, at least one was working. We observed two tables that ordered the big dessert draw, the chocolate piñata. A younger child used the rolling pin to take a wack at it and chocolate flew on another person at their table. At $33 for that dessert we passed. read more

This spot was recommended to me by a coworker when I asked for good Tex-Mex, and they truly did not disappoint. The strawberry margarita it was absolutely delicious, as was the guac starter we got. We shared chicken fajitas, and one of each of the different enchiladas and everything was absolutely delicious. my favorite was probably the chicken fajitas. I don't know what they do to their flour tortillas, but they are so soft and fluffy and delicious. I have been dreaming about them!! This place has just gone downhill over the last year or two. The last time I ordered pick-up this past December, I remember being disappointed. Sadly I forgot that this time around. It's so close to where I live...and I do have fond memories of good food and good service. My go-to is the soft tacos with fajita beef. Always came with the tiny lil bit of sour cream, guac and pico. Not only have they raised their prices, but they removed this from the item! Why?? I called to ask if it was just left out accidentally, and the person (Ashley?) had to check for me. Went UJ on a Tuesday early evening hoping to avoid the rush. We had a waiter that really just didn't seem like he was into to his being at work. Maybe just having a bad day. His lack of enthusiasm really showed. Did not check back on use and when he did forgot totally about us and our request and to top it of my friends bill wrong. The couple I was with was happy with their meal. I was disappointed in my order of beans/cheese nachos, these were not the off the kids menu. Just a smear of beans and a sprinkle of cheese. Have very happy memories of Uncle Julio's on Lemmon Ave, Dallas and in Allen for the past 12 years and the new Frisco location corner 121 & Preston certainly lived up to our expectations. New Frisco location have a Taco Tuesday, lazy susan platter of taco toppings and choice of chicken or beef or pork or all with choice of 3 corn, flour or hard tortillas. And more tortillas to go if you want. Uncle Juliio's generously top up the toppings but no top up of the meats. $12 per person absolutely fantastic value. Great drinks especially during Happy Hour 3pm to 6pm Monday to Friday. Other meals looked great. Met up with some friends from Austin for a birthday celebration for 3 of us in the group. May/June birthdays are by far the best!! Woot! The drinks were really good! I think we tried all they offered on the menu. We ordered the table side guacamole and gotta say it's pretty darn good! Depending on the size of your group one bowl feeds 1-2 people. Depending how hungry y'all are. I think we had almost everything on the menu. Unfortunately, I couldn't get too many photographs. My friend encouraged me to dine here last night and we had a really good dinner with good service. My low rating is because the front door wouldn't close throughout our meal and then when it came time to pay the server brought an electronic device instead of a check. The device malfunctioned and the tables around us struggled with theirs as well. Then the server stood over me and pointed to the tip he wanted. No juice other than cranberry for the kids, portion sizes for $25-$30 plates were small, and deserts? One might expect sopapillas, tres leches cake, or choco-flan, in a Mexican restaurant but not here. Mind you they used to have these offerings. I accompanied Mr. P on a Dallas business trip, and we eyed the sign for this Mexican restaurant across the street. Being Arizonans, we love some good Mexican food. We have heard that Texans think theirs is better than ours. Honestly, I'll keep ours. The restaurant, though painted very bright colors, was very cold and empty. For a late lunch, we were surprised that it was so empty. We were seated in a side area with not one other person. The music was inexplicably loud. Speaking across the table to each other was a challenge. Our server was cheery and kind. However, not the greatest. Drinks took a hundred years to arrive, and waters even longer to refill. Mr. P took two phone calls and used the restroom before water and chips arrived. I also ordered a Grand Swirl Margarita (Hey, I wasn't the one working!) The inside-out lime half with the Marnier shot was too creative! That drink was stro-oo-ong! Ok, I may have imbibed dos margaritas. I ordered the queso and guac appetizer. Neither was plentiful, though they were tasty. There's never enough cheese, is there? The chips weren't anything to write home about anyway, and were cold. The house salsa was chunky and fragrant. But boy, was it salty and tasted like chemicals. Weird. For lunch, I chose the Cozumel shrimp tacos. The shrimp were a good size, and fresh pineapple was plentiful. Overall tasty, with the exception of stale tortillas. Rubbery and hard around the edges. I peeled away the edges to I could eat it. The beans were nice, but the rice was bland. White rice with some corn and cilantro on top? No flavor. Mr. P chose the steak fajitas. He likes it rare, so the meat was a bit overdone for his liking (but too bloody for mine), but all, in all, he enjoyed his meal. At least his normal Spanish rice was good. When back in Dallas, I think we will look elsewhere for Mexican food, or maybe just stick to that BBQ they're known for in Texas. This place wasn't amazing. read more

They have changed their menu. Chips are different, not in a good way. The salsa was different and not in a good way. The rice lost some ingredients and was bland. Charro beans tasted funny. They changed the things that made this my go to place for a great meal. Ordered the Guadalajara and at least the Mexican butter and shrimp was still good along with the fajitas. What happened to this place? It used to be the best Tex Mex around. The past few years we have seen UJ go downhill. We went last night. They have taken their menu prices as if they are now upscale. While the fajitas and tortillas were still good; not good enough for the high prices. Plus, UJ has always been known for an amazing margarita swirl. They have changed the recipe. Their margaritas are now just sugar water with no indication of alcohol at all. And they want $11 for it. There are many upscale Tex Mex restaurants in DFW. Save your money and go somewhere with better food and drinks. You can get a good Mambo Taxi down the street from here. read more

Despite it being dinner time we were able to get seated quickly. They brought us chips and salsa, which was delicious! The salsa is a little spicy, but has an awesome roasted flavor with a little sweetness at the end. I signed up for their rewards program, so I got a free table side guacamole. They come right to your table with this amazing cart and make your guacamole with whatever you want and they put it in this huge and heavy bowl. I got the guac with everything including onions, tomatoes, cilantro, and peppers. It was oh so good and I did not want to stop eating, but I had to remember that my tilapia tacos were on there way, so I stopped. I ordered their tilapia tacos, which came with beans and rice, but I decided to just get beans. The plate came with three tacos and a medium sized bowl of beans. Everything smelled so delicious and I could not wait to take a bite. The tilapia was grilled perfectly and had a nice bite and kick of seasoning. The tacos had cabbage, green salsa, and cheese. I did not want to stop, but my stomach said otherwise. I took home two of the tacos and beans home and had another meal. And my total for this deliciousness was just $15!! Food was delicious. We shared cheese and bean nachos. They could have stayed in the over a few minutes longer to melt the cheese more, but great flavor. We ordered sour cream to go with the nachos and had to ask twice for it to be brought to the table. Margaritas were excellent but my guest asked for no salt. It came with salt. I ordered the ribs and sausage combo special and my guest ordered cheese enchiladas with queso. The enchiladas came with a different sauce which we asked to be corrected. Our server (America) said it was her fault and apologized. My ribs and sausage did not have sausage. My meal came with potatoes ( delicious) and corn (elotes). The corn was cold. When I asked America if the corn was supposed to be cold her answer was yes. And said corn is always served cold. I've never had it served cold. At that point all I wanted to do was leave. I didn't bother to mention the missing sausage. I think Americas first problem was she has no clue what customer service is and she should write down orders. When I got the check I wanted to check if my meal was entered correctly. It seamed to make America nervous and she quickly snatched the check back to "correct". I've been a restaurant GM for many years. Besides bad service this management team has a lot more to worry about. Fajitas are good. But Still have not refunded my money. I paid Zach the manager and he said it didn't go through. I checked online and it was pending. Zach the manager said it was not going through and he needed a different card and would cancel the other. I said well I paid 10 min ago and we are still finishing our drink. If I had left you would get paid when it cleared---same as usual. He did not agree and ended double billing me. Did so after specifically stating he had cancelled the first card. I called them the next day. Zach passed phone to the other manager. They continue to have double billed me. The second line manager said they electronically refunded me the next day. That was 10 days ago. The head manager has still not contacted me. I do not expect them to be classy but outright lying about somebody else's money is insolent. We passed uncle Julios on our way back from a day visiting Dallas. We have been waiting to try out Tex Mex since we got here. Overall, I was really pleased with the customer service at this restaurant. No wait on Valentine's Day, our server was very polite and tended to our needs. The food was awesome, we ordered a flank steak fajita and the Guadalajara. Both were delicious and cooked perfectly to medium. We also ordered a blood orange margarita, which was delicious. The tortillas at this restaurant are also something to rave about, homemade, fresh, and warm when the fajitas come out. Overall, great experience. Food prices were a little high but not much different comparatively to fajitas prices ordered at another restaurant. They have changed up everything and not for the better. The chips are now like Tostitos and the salsa is now terrible. Completely new weird menu. Increased prices and now a lot of dishes don't come with rice and beans. You can get a taco plate for 15 bucks but you have to add beans for an up charge. Do yourself a favor, and don't order the fish tacos. Or the guacamole. Guacamole was watery, with 4-5 eensy bits of tomato in it. No flavor, and lackluster texture. The fish tacos were just ... bad. The flavor was cringe-worthy and overly smoked, I guess to make up for the nasty texture. I took one taco home to warm it up, where I can usually make magic happen. Nope. The meat was translucent and not a creamy white, despite putting it in a pan with butter, then a splash of white wine. It couldn't be redeemed, even at home.
