With many pizza places that I tried in NY, this one is the most disappointed one for me. Since it's close to our daughter apartment, on the way back from the subway, we stopped by here to order a whole pizza instead of some slices. The ratings on Yelp were good so we felt comfortable. When you order a whole pizza with your own toppings, they have to start fresh I think. The cook got the wrong order, I wanted 1/2 sausage and mushroom and 1/2 pepperoni and pineapple and when I got home, both sides with pepperoni. It's not a big deal with all pepperoni, but the dough wasn't cooked fully and not tasty at all. Since the apartment has the small oven so I could use it to heat up the slice that I want to have. $38 for the pizza with 2 toppings and the quality worse than round table in CA which is quite disappointing. Anyhow, at least we know which pizza place not to order from when we visit NY. read more

In the Lower East Side heading to the subway and stumbled across Uncle Sam's Pizza. Not interested in greasy "roni cup" pizza, but just the basics... however, from the looks of their Cheese Slice, decided to opt for the better looking Fresh Mozzarella. Yep, Yelp, the Fresh Mozzarella was a better decision! Recommend for a great slice, though if you can make it, Johnny's on Orchard!!! Note - A few small tables to enjoy your slice. read more

Enjoyed Uncle Sam's Pizza while it was rainy and snowy out, so you know a freshly baked pizza provided instant warmth for the weather. It is a very small pizza shop, so there was not much space to dine in. This was my first pizza in New York, so I don't have much to compare it to, but the pizza was amazing! Every bite was crispy, including the crust which was my favorite part. I do think the worker forgot to put our pizza in the oven, because we were waiting quite a while but once reminded, he placed it in the oven. The pizza of our choice was spicy pepperoni, and the spice is just perfect! Each little pepperoni provided the perfect bite and crisped into a cup. We did burn our hands immediately going for slice, but I definitely will remember this late-night pizza adventure. read more

Went here a month or two ago and never got around to reviewing. People inside were friendly. I got a Spicy Pepperoni Square as recommended outside/inside and it was excellent. Certainly better than Prince Street with just enough heat, a whole lot of crisp pepperoni, and a crunchier crust than most square slices almost on the level but not quite of Detroit style. Cheese blend was on the slightly saltier end but it worked well with the pepperoni. It was a pricier slice but it was very good quality and I had no qualms paying for that tasty of a slice. read more

It was alright. I'm not really used to deep-dish pizza, let alone authentic New York deep dish pizza. I wouldn't necessarily say that my experience here was bad, but it didn't "wow" me either. I wish he would've cooked the slice of pizza a little bit more, as it came out kind of lukewarm. Oh well, it was only one slice, so it's not a huge deal. read more

Uncle Sam wants you! to buy his pizza. It was a cold and rainy night at 145am and the only light shining on a rat filled Clinton street was Uncle Sam's sign - a beacon of hope. I entered and saw a man with lonely eyes gazing aimlessly, as total eclipse of the heart was blasting overhead. The universe told me to get a slice here so I did. He handed it to new in a paper plate without a bag. I looked at him and before I could say anything, he softly whispered, 'bag?'. I nodded like a nervous child. He bagged it and folded it meticulously. I undid this fine work to apply proper seasonings to my slice, as one should. I re-bagged it but it didn't look the same. We both said good night as I opened the door to return to the rats. It was delicious. I never caught his name. I'll be back. read more

This pepperoni square pizza and garlic knots (sadly not pictured) are the best I've ever had! The thick pepperoni slice and even spread of cheese and tomato sauce make the perfect bite - in my books, this trumps Prince St Pizza, which often has its bad days with cold, limpy pizza with the cheese separating from the sauce. But the true winner is the garlic knots - truly a bomb of flavor with the amount of garlic used (which I love!) and not too doughy but perfectly moist and chewy and springy in texture. read more

The guys at the liquor store, next door, told us to check out Uncle Sam's pizza stating they had the best square pepperoni pizza. We grabbed a slice at 10pm and were not disappointed. The staff is fun. They sing in the back while warming up the pizza. It's a great small shop to pick up a slice. read more

I accidentally stumbled upon this hidden gem on Clinton Street & I couldn't be happier. I ordered their famous square with spicy pepperoni & it was to die for!!! I went in only to eat one slice but ended up having two more!!!! The owner was behind the counter slinging pizza like some type of pizza master & it showed! He was extremely helpful & friendly. He took time to explain a bunch of different slices & helped make me with my decision & boy he wasn't wrong. Perfect for a late night snack after drinking in LES. Just around the corner from Subject and down the block from Garfunkel's. I loved the Sicilian deep dish pepperoni. They are incredibly generous with the meat, so it's a great value (around $5). Plenty of cheese and pepper topping options. Limited seating and ambience is meh, so it's really best for delivery, take-out, or a quick bite. read more

The bits of bacon, combined with the spiciness of the pepper spices, made this a perfect starter. The entree was also shared and it was the Spicoli 2.0 Pizza. I cannot recommend this pie, enough. You will taste flavors that you've probably never experienced before with a pizza. Also, the different textures of the arugula, creaminess of the cheese, and the perfect crust will make it a memorable selection. For dessert, we shared the Buttermilk Panna Cotta. Each spoonful of those strawberries, dancing with the firm custard and glaze, made this a stupendous cap to the meal.

At least the spaghetti is cooked to a nice al dente and mellow garlic butter flavor, but like the sauce cooked in, it is also minimal. Part of the problem I feel is they are trying to go for a vibe that has a New York and modern feel. It does not work. Stay true to one or the other. Or at least look at other business models. I will use another pizzeria in Bushwick that exemplifies it perfectly. It is a hipster pizzeria in a hipster neighborhood. Through balance, it creates an ambiance both welcoming and warm without losing any of its Bushwick character. It does this by not beating you over the head with hipster vibes, just enough to let you know that you are in Bushwick. The band Franz Ferdinand was playing as I was wrapping up.
