However if zucchini is not seasoned properly there's not much of a taste but overall the pizza was not bad. I've been here twice now and enjoy the colorful, cheerful atmosphere. It's standing room only with a counter for those who would like to eat in the establishment. The place has many unique pizza flavors, as well as stromboli, fried pasta, and sandwiches. They even have a delightful looking Nutella pizza. The first time, I had the Pepperoni Stromboli ($5), which was wonderfully cheesy, full of well seasoned pepperoni, while the bread was soft and doughy. I also got to try the Special pizza flavor of the month, which is Ossobucco Milanese ($8). This consisted of beef ossobucco, gremolata, saffron sauce, along with Mozzarella. I enjoyed the beef, which was tender, full of bold flavor. The saffron sauce added a nice element to the slice, but would have liked more melty cheese. The crust was light and crisp. Service was warm and friendly. Prices were a little high, but ultimately worth it. This pizza was 'unregular' indeed haha. They had some interesting choices, and while it's not the traditional NY style we go for, it was worth the try. My sister wanted the girls to have some pizza, and so we hunted down what was in the area and this spot came up. I didn't want any myself, but once I saw that they had nutella pizza I was like OH okay. I ordered some of that for myself and we sat on a bench right outside and ate what we got. All of it is Sicilian style... maybe it was because of it being the end of the night, but I didn't love the crust on mine... just seemed awfully plain in my opinion. I sure did love that Nutella part though :). My sister & them said they were fine with the vegan options they got, but it wasn't necessarily their fav. I'd return to try some of their funkier options if I'm in the area. In NY it's bold to try and stop outside of the box with all the traditional competition. I respect it! We came here specifically to try the deep fried pastas. 3 of us split one of each, the cacio & pepe, and the bolognese. They ARE made/fried to order, but sadly ours were a little cold in the middle, which was a bummer. Of the 2, I preferred the cacio & pepe. I tried the pepperoni pizza with burrata and I'm sorry to say it was just not good. Something about the sauce gave it a weird too sweet taste and the crust was below average. The burrata itself was decent and the person at the counter was nice. The shop is tiny. Entry is wheelchair accessible but it is tough to make a turn because there is a standing bar for people to eat. There is no wheelchair friendly place to eat inside or outside unless you sit next to a bench and eat the pizza on your lap. You only get a bag of you order one slice but a box of you get two. I LOVE Roman-style pizza, with its light and crispy crust and decadent toppings, as well as arancini and other Roman treats. On my first visit to Unregular, the pizza lived up to my hopes - maybe not as overwhelmingly fresh as it is in Rome, but it's hard to get such amazing ingredients in the USA. Second time, the pizza tasted a little tired, as if it had been sitting out for a bit too long. The arancini (fried rice balls) were much bigger than in Rome and salty. I really wanted to like the pizza here, since I'd seen some TikToks/Instagram reels about it and had put it on my Google Maps of places to try. I was in the area, and Unregular Pizza was just a few blocks away. The decor definitely gave it an old-school retro vibe, and there were also fake cherry blossoms (probably just for cherry blossom season). There was a good variety of pizzas to choose from, and it looked like plenty of hot pizzas were coming fresh out of the oven. I like how they also reheat the pizzas for you. There's standing room to dine in for about 6 people maximum, but it's a tight squeeze the line right behind you. I'd take the pizza to-go. The Burrapizza with pepperonis has a good flavor with the slightest heat to it (reminding me of the Hot Honey Pizza from Pizza Hut). However, the cold burrata didn't pair with the warm pizza as much as I hoped it would. Overall, it wasn't bad because the flavor was great, but it left me unsatisfied when I had entered with a pizza craving. It also left me feeling greasy/heavy, likely because there was a lot of dough but the dough wasn't the fluffy kind. The Chicken Out pizza tasted like a chicken pesto sandwich in pizza form. It had gotten a little cold by the time I got to it, and it didn't hit in the way cold pizzas typically do. The pizza was a little dry, since it didn't have a lot of sauce on it and barely had any mozzarella. The concept is definitely there though, and there was a very generous amount of cherry tomatoes and chicken. The cherry tomatoes bursted with flavor. read more
