I love stromboli, usually, though I'll admit that's partly because I'm typically a few drinks deep and will eat almost anything at that point. Normally I have a great time here, and I wanted to show it off to friends visiting from out of town on a late weeknight. This particular visit didn't go as planned. The line is always out the door, service is fast but never exactly friendly, and the prices are good, which is the whole appeal. I ordered a handful of different slices for myself, buffalo chicken included, and you usually can't go wrong with that one. Tonight, somehow, you could. It didn't sit right with my stomach afterward, though that might be entirely on me and my questionable late-night decision-making. My friends weren't as into it either, though we'd all had the same round of drinks beforehand, so that's probably part of the story too. I still love the vibe of this place in general: a crowd of drunk people enjoying good, cheap food together, which really is the whole point at the end of the day. Altjough Stromboli was always kind of dirty and EV trashy, their pizza used to be better. Their customer service is horrible, especially if you order off of the Slice app. They canceled my order for no reason. When I called Slice customer service, they told me that the business said that they didn't have anyone to deliver. Then when I called Stromboli, first I was told that I didn't meet the minimum which was a lie and then I was told that it was because I only tipped a dollar on the app. Which was another lie. I stopped by for two slices when I was really hungry and settled on the chicken slices in the picture below. They were quite good with high quality ingredients and a hearty amount of chicken but they were very expensive(It cost around $13.50 for the two). They were good and quite filling but there are better places where you can get more food for less. I'll probably drop in again for another slice but definitely not my first choice. read more

I admit I am a bit of a food snob, but I try to give all places a fair shake. Desperate for something to chow on when everything was starting to close down, I dropped into this spot, which is a slice joint with some indoor/outdoor seating. I got the sausage and maybe what they consider their Neapolitan? Both were pretty bland and just didn't have great flavor for me. Two slices and a Diet Coke were pretty steep at over 15 bucks (not including tip). They also have garlic knots, rolls, heroes, and calzones. The staff was nice enough and service was fast, as it's all made and just has to be slung into an oven to warm. There's no bathroom, which is a bummer when you're bar hopping, but it's a neat indoor/outdoor setup that wouldn't be a bad spot to snack and chat with a date or a friend. There are much better pizza places in New York and even in the direct area. read more

Stayed in NYC for the first time on a business trip a couple weeks back. With time running out, I had to make sure I had a New York slice of pizza. On my last night, I got back to the hotel around 1am. I had an early morning flight so I thought to Uber Eats a pizza to my hotel. Stromboli's popped up and had pretty good ratings on Uber Eats so I figured why not. It worked out perfectly. Ordered a whole Medium Pepperoni pizza and it got prepared and delivered within 30 minutes! It was huge for a medium and in my opinion.... It was delicious! One of my favorite late night spots in the east village. Well it used to be anyway. I prefer margaritas where you can taste the tomato sauce and the cheese is light but with this slice the tomato sauce was hard to get to as the cheese was over done and all I got with each bite was cheese and it didn't really pack any flavor without the sauce but probably got a bad slice on the pie so I won't dunk them all the way. Open late so after a night out in the EV, it's a good spot to grab a bite and has been for a while. read more

Stromboli Pizza is a local pizzeria with many options at the ready. I decided to go with the buffalo chicken slice. The slice was baked well. Crispy crust, great undercarriage. The buffalo sauce really came through. However, it was an extremely heavy slice as oil pooled on top. Service was friendly and approachable. If you value your life and health I implore you, don't eat here! I was food poisoned here a few days ago. An entire night of projectile vomiting and diarrhea. We ordered a pie half pepperoni for a friend, mushrooms and onions for me. He didn't eat mushrooms only I did, so we hypothesized the mushrooms had to be the problem since it's the most fragile food on my pizza. It was definitely that pizza cuz I hadn't eaten anything else since that morning. Within 3 hours of eating the pie I was bent over the toilet in agony. My family is in the restaurant biz so I didn't want to do this review, I called to speak to owner to alert them and hopefully they could rectify problem before they sicken more customers. Instead the woman on the phone chose to defend integrity of the pizzeria as if I was lying. If they had used canned mushrooms it would mean it's not their fault, reports of canned mushrooms with toxins were reported going around in NYC. But she doubled down on their integrity and said they only utilize fresh mushrooms. Which means it's absolutely the establishment's fault. She tried to make amends by offering a free pie but the last thing I want is another shot at death I only wanted them to fix situation. If it had been my friend who is a diabetic and fragile health it could've killed him. She took down my number and said an owner would get back to me but that never happened. So I had to do this review to warn others. I don't like to do bad reviews cuz I know the restaurant industry is tough, but this place is dangerous, I should probably notify the health department read more

I have been going to this Pizza shop for years on and off. A few months ago i ordered a slice (plain) gave this tall white guy my card the dude was super friendly which I found weird but ok whatever. Didn't give a receipt to sign nor did he offer it. something fell off I just couldn't figure out what it was. Fast forward I usually check my spending every two or three months and GuessWhat I was charged $10 for one slice. I cannot begin to imagine how many times he's done this but his time will come because if I ever go back I will ask for the receipt and all hell will break loose I will press charges for theft. I love Stromboli's! This is one of my go-to neighborhood spots. I like different pizza places for different reasons, and Stromboli's is my go-to when I want a slice with fun toppings (e.g. buffalo chicken, chicken bacon ranch, etc.) - they really load up their slices and they're delicious! They also have some of the best pepperoni rolls I've tried so far in NYC. The people who work here are SO nice too. Overall, I definitely recommend stopping in! read more

In the search of the best NYC pizza, we can across this little gem. The pizza lady was very fast and efficient, we got our slices with less than a minute from ordering. I must say the pizza was a 10 in my books. I can't think of anything bad to say. The sauce was sour and hearty. The cheese and sauce ratio was perfect, and the veggies were fresh and tasty. We ordered their regular and squared margarita pizza. We also ordered a mushroom one and they were all delicious. I personally like the squares margarita the most. Stromboli is one of the better pizza options in the East Village. Their variety is comparable to that of nearby East Village Pizza, but I still would rather head over there for the best slice in the area. In my opinion, Stromboli beats out many of the other options in the area like 2 Bros, Vinny Vincenz, and many of the 99 cent shops. Each of their slices had a quality and authentic New York City taste. Their crust is above average but I would rank it below other East Village options like East Village Pizza, Artichoke Basille's, and Sauce. Bacon, Chicken, and Ranch Slice (4/5): It is hard to mess up a slice that is covered in bacon, chicken, and ranch dressing. I would have liked to have seen a little more bacon on the slice, but it was still great. White Slice (3.5/5): Their White Slice was everything I expected. It is slightly above average. Their mozzarella is well caramelized and the portions of ricotta were adequate. Interestingly, the portions of ricotta on the broccoli slice were much better. White Slice with Broccoli (3.5/5): Their White Slice with Broccoli was good. I loved that it came with huge chunks of ricotta. Their broccoli was not great. I did not like the texture, it was too soft. I wish it had a slight char on it. I don't think I would order this slice again, I would opt for the regular White Slice. read more

My experience with Stromboli's was an excellent one. Imagine yourself out and about in the big Apple hanging with friends hItting the bar scene. Suddenly the night escapes you and you realize how late it is. The rumbling of your stomach alerts you that it's time. It's time to indulge in what any New Yorker would do at this juncture and that's grab a delicious slice of pizza. A slice of pepperoni I think is about $4.50 or so and it comes out piping hot. Garlic powder, Parmasean, and red pepper are available to enhance the flavor of your delicious slice. All of which I added to mine. When in NYC, you have to go all out and break your traditional habits. For me, that was going out of my way to eat the greasiest, cheesiest food possible. So while scootering down St. Mark's Place, Stromboli Pizza instantly caught my eye and I just had to try it. The thing that was obviously most enticing to me was the stromboli. To be quite honest, I don't think I had ever even eaten stromboli prior to this experience. But as a first try, this was incredibly delicious. The storefront has a hip corner spot in a happening neighborhood, so local traffic is always flowing to Stromboli. Most people in line were ordering the pizza, which looked really good, but I was lucky enough to snag one of the last few strombolis. The guy at the counter was also very friendly, checking over to me noticing that the strombli was taking a bit to get to me, but when it did, it was was worth the wait. Filled with salami, peppers, onions, and sausage, the flavors were sizzling all over my tastebuds. The stromboli was a large portion as well, so it was rather filling where I could have had more, but not overwhelming enough to which I I was overstuffed. My only negative is the cost. Comparing the prices to other joints I have been to in NYC, the slices of pizza aren't the cheapest and the stromboli ran over $11. But if you are ever in the East Village hood and are looking for quality food that tastes phenomenal, go to Stromboli Pizza. read more
