Absolutely love them! I saw this place while waiting for my bf to go to dinner and I knew I wouldn't leave the area without trying them. They are located in a strip mall with parking but with popular places so it might be hard at times to park. They have full sized cakes and the smaller "personal" portions. The lady behind the counter was super patient with us and gave us the list of what they had available for personal portions. We tried 2 flavors the first time but of course we had to be back and tried something else. Every single one of the cakes we have tried has been super fluffy and not giving you the choking feeling. Bought the cookies n cream cookies via doordash. I've had the cookies before, they're my fav, so I was surprised when these balls of cookie dough arrived. I bit into one thinking they changed the cookies, but it just wasn't cooked/prepared correctly. I called to ask if they changed the cookies and was told no....and when I explained my cookies weren't prepared properly, I was told its because the cookies have too much cookies and cream crumb.....definitely not the case. Have been customer for a long period of time, even not a frequent one. The cheesecake quality is usually good but it is not the case today. Don't know if it is because of the national cheesecake day promotion. Once I open the top, i immediately noticed there is difference in the cake. Time for an update! I order Uber Eats from this Japanese style cheesecake store from time to time. I'v only been to the actual store couple times I think. The services were very friendly each time. The store is tiny and smell so good from all the cheesecakes they are making. They have cookies and cheese tarts which is great for portion control. I can never finish a whole cheesecake by myself. Uncle tetsu still does it best. Say what you will about 85°, they've gone warehouse flavor and not at all enticing otherwise than hungry window shopping. Their new burnt basque cheesecake is rich and light like eating a cool mango sorbet that somehow melts like snowflake-hot chocolate. The size is small but substantial, eating it by the sporkful is decadent enough, it takes several days to finish one whole one. Well worth the price and the pounds that come with it. It's been several years I haven't had some Uncle Tetsu cheesecakes. The only place I knew of was at the Del Amo mall, so far away from me now so a checked it out here on Yelp if by any chance there's one nearby and glad to know that they do have one near me. And by surprise they have added more items in their menu. They now have small cheese tarts and basques. Of course I took to try them all. I stayed on original flavors. I loved all of them. What's there to complain about? I found none in all honesty. By the way, their team were very friendly and greeted me upon arrival and also helped me with some questions I had. It is a small place to just take out, even better to enjoy some home made coffee at home with a slice of Japanese fluffy cheesecake. They are so well balanced, not so sweet in my taste, just perfect. Went for dessert after dinner, and one of the items we got was a cheese tart. After we walked out the door, we noticed the top of the tart was burnt on the side. We had not opened the packaging, but the burnt color underneath was clearly visible. We returned immediately (within a minute), and the staff opened the wrap and confirmed that it was indeed burnt. However, they told us they could not exchange it because we had already left the store. They also said it was "normal" and that other tarts were like that too. This is not my first time buying cheese tarts from Uncle Tetsu, and this is definitely not normal. If multiple tarts were truly coming out burnt, then perhaps they should not have been sold at all. Where is the quality control? The "normal" burnt part negatively impacted the flavor of the tart. Also left me wondering why the displays are not burnt. What was also disappointing was that the tart was wrapped in the back without being shown to the customer beforehand. While I respect store policies, customers also have no way to inspect the item before purchase if it is packaged out of sight. We returned right away and did not even open the wrapping ourselves. Uncle Tetsu really needs better quality control and stronger customer service training. read more

Bad service and very impatient staff. On Mother's Day, I bought five cakes from the store. They had a promotion where customers would receive cookies with their next purchase over $10. Since I bought five cakes and cheese tarts in one transaction, I politely asked if I could receive the gift. However, one lady of the staff members said no and also refused to let me separate or adjust the purchase afterward. Japanese customer service is usually known for being polite and considerate, but unfortunately, I found the staff at this store to be rude and impatient. I feel they don't know how to do business because, from a customer's point of view, I spent a lot of money there on Mother's Day and simply asked about a small promotional gift. Instead of trying to help or being flexible, the staff only focused on the rules and responded impatiently.
