Uncle Tetsu has really good cheesecake, don't get me wrong. But for this go around, I have to lower my rating for their service. I've been coming here since Uncle Tetsu opened a shop at Westfield Valley Fair. But their service this time was pretty sub par. I had two of their loyalty card. One had an unpunched free slot and another has 4 punched out. While they honored the free one, they decided not to honor the second one. However, there was no expiration, nor anything that said it couldn't be used. If anything, there's a fine print that says "Valid at all Uncle Tetsu US locations." Apparently this store's manager said they couldn't continue their card because never "got that card design". But you are a US location, right? Nope, apparently Westfield Valley Fair doesn't count as a "US location". I was trying to use up the cards and instead got another new one because they wouldn't punch on the old card. Do better. Read your own policies. read more

We got the pandan coconut this time and it smells good! When I was waiting at the counter, there were some cakes basking in water and their tops look cracked. lol. Service was quick and I got the cake not from the cracking batch. It's now $16 per cake, I think the price has gone up again in less than a year. read more

Every time we stop by mall, grabbing a few tarts from here is pretty much a must! The tarts are always amazing, even if they're a little on the pricey side. This time we switched it up and tried the fluffy original (burnt) cheesecake and it did not disappoint! There's usually a line whenever we come, but we got lucky today and walked right up. Funny enough, the line started forming right behind us. I still haven't worked my way through the other flavors yet, but the original tart and the classic cheesecake are both solid picks and hard to beat. read more

Uncle Tetsu is located inside the Valley Fair Mall. They sell Japanese-Style Cheesecakes, Cheese Tarts, Basque Cheesecakes, and Cheesecake Biscotti. You'll find flavors such as strawberry, pandan, ube, oreo, matcha and black sesame. I've tried their Cheesecakes and Cheese Tarts: they're a bit pricey but such delicious treats! There are places that eliminate choice entirely. Uncle Tetsu is one of them. I can walk through the mall with a plan, a purpose, and a full stomach, and I still cannot pass by without stopping. It is not possible. This time I went with the black sesame cheese tart, and it was exactly what I wanted. Light, airy, and delicately sweet, with that earthy, nutty depth from the sesame that keeps everything balanced. It adds complexity without weighing the cake down, staying true to Uncle Tetsu's signature soufflé-like texture. It is rich without being heavy, indulgent without being overwhelming. The kind of dessert you finish feeling satisfied rather than regretful, which is rare in a mall setting. Uncle Tetsu knows its lane and executes it beautifully. It's hard not to compare this Uncle Tetsu to the one in Japan. Definitely, the price is so much higher. It's the US and Bay Area prices baby!! Located in the second floor of the Westfield mall. Located in the valley fair Westfield mall this place is solid! Menu is simple with a couple of different varieties for their cheesecake and cheese tarts. Our go to is usually the classic cheesecake. The Japanese soufflé cheesecake texture is so distinct and with a semi sweet flavor that hits every time! I enjoy their cheesecakes but not so much their egg tarts. Love getting the classic, pandan coconut, and ube cheesecakes. The strawberry wasn't my taste and the Oreo flavor just felt like the classic with cookie and chocolate pieces added in, not so much Oreo flavor. The egg tarts have a weird consistency and feels too pasty or thick. It's cool, if you go at the right time, you can watch them make the cheesecake on the griddle, like 20 at a time! Tip: If you park by Target, then you are exactly at the OPPOSITE side of the mall and need to walk the ENTIRE mall to get to Uncle Tetsu. Recommend parking closer to Uncle Tetsu if you aren't planning to shop at the mall! read more

Plus 1 cheese tart for $4.50 was a little steep to me, but I bought 3 regardless because if you buy three, it's packed in a box and comes with a bag. I haven't been to Uncle Tetsu in so long! I'm genuinely always surprised that each cheesecake is only $15 but I guess it doesn't take many ingredients to make and the portion sizes at the end of the day are not a lot. I came 15 minutes before closing time and I was surprised they still had all their flavors available which is great. I ordered the Pandan Coconut Cheesecake and I thought it was pretty good. I ate a lot of these Japanese sponge cake esque items in NYC and I think that both are pretty comparable as this was also pretty moist. I wish the pandan flavor was a bit stronger though. $15 for a whole fluffy Japanese cheesecake is a pretty good deal in my opinion! I got the pandan coconut cheesecake since I love anything pandan and really enjoyed it. The coconut flavor was very apparent but I do wish the pandan flavor was a little stronger. It was also a bit on the sweet side for me, moreso than the original flavor. Quick service at the grab and go stand in Valley Fair Mall, located in a pretty crowded area of the mall near a lot of other Asian food (Shihlin Taiwanese snacks, Ramen Nagi, Marugame Udon, etc). I would love to try some of their other flavors, but don't have occasions to buy whole cakes super often- I wish they had a sampler set and/or sold pieces by the slice. read more

The good: some bites with chocolate chips are okay, and $7 for 3 cookies isn't bad at all. And no tax! So good! We got a lot to take home since we don't have an Uncle Tetsu at our hometown. It's still so delicious even after eating this a day or two later! Just make sure to keep it refrigerated almost immediately. Their seasonal mango cheesecake is very soft and has an even flavor of the mango and cheese. I would have to say that Uncle Tetsu makes the best Japanese Cheesecakes around, A buddy of mine purchased a couple of Uncle Tetsu's cheesecakes from this specific location in San Jose. They were packaged very nicely. Got their Original Cheesecake and their Ube Cheesecake. Both of them tasted Fine. Light, airy, spongy, and not sweet at all. The family loved them. I simply liked them. As I said, I am a major sweet tooth, and Uncle Tetsu does not make them sweet enough for myself. Still, Uncle Tetsu is a winner. The cheesecake here is absolute crack, light, fluffy, and addictive with just the right touch of sweetness. If you're into heavier American-style cheesecakes this probably isn't your alley, but if airy and delicate is your vibe, this place nails it. Dangerous stuff, I blinked and half the cake was gone. Their burnt basque is also really tasty: a more original cheesecake texture, and great flavor!! But, their original cheese tarts are the BEST cheese tarts I've ever had. So creamy, rich, light, and so flavorful! The crust is also nice and buttery, and it makes for an amazing dessert. Love Uncle Testsu's Japanese cheesecakes! I've tried almost every flavor and haven't had one I disliked. Got the ube again which has a pretty light flavor. The texture is always super fluffy and addicting to eat. The cheesecakes are already pre-made so there's no wait. There's only a small storefront next to Ramen Nagi with no seating. Not a fan of either of those flavor, so I got the strawberry cheesecake. I've had a variety of their cheesecake flavors before including the original, pandan and black sesame. We just had to try it out! It came in the cutest pink gift bag with Cherry Blossom design on it. Even the cheesecake box is pink! Overall, their marketing dept did a great job of promoting this seasonal flavor. We were unsure how Cherry Blossom would taste IRL so we took a bite and we both uttered "ohh it's lychee flavor?" I am a huge fan of Japanese cheesecake but I've always found them to either be too expensive, dense, or heavy on the sweetness. Uncle Tetsu's cheesecake is none of these things. The flavor is present but subtle and with every bite, it melts in your mouth. I could eat an entire cake in one sitting. Service is quick and easy. They usually have packaged cakes prepared for a quick checkout experience. So far, I've tried ube, panda, and a seasonal cherry blossom flavor. Not only do I love their cheesecakes, but their service is so fast. They have their cakes premade, so they were already handing me my order by the time I was done paying. I've been here many times and my favorites are the Oreo cheesecake and the pandan cheesecake. They're super affordable prices as well. This place gets a lot of foot traffic as well since it's right next to the movies and Ramenagi, but the line usually isn't too long. Highly recommend! read more

The fish was fresh, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of the bowl. To finish off the meal, I had the Churro Mochi Donut, and it did not disappoint. It had a crispy exterior with a soft, chewy mochi center, coated with just the right amount of cinnamon sugar. It was the perfect sweet treat after the savory poke bowl. Overall, the meal was satisfying, the portions were generous, and I would happily order from MoDo Hawaii again whenever I'm craving fresh poke and a delicious dessert.

We tried all of the different flavors of savory crêpes and they were all wonderful so it was difficult to choose what to eat on my second visit, but I went with the Mexican lamb one. Also had an excellent moist blueberry muffin. Most of the things that they prepare can be done gluten free, which is a plus. They also sell olive oil from their farm in Jordan. There is a huge parking lot in back so parking is never a problem. There are really nice photos and paintings on the wall to peruse while you're waiting for the food.

The meat had a pretty mild flavor by itself but together with the mozzarella cheese, onions, cilantro all wrapped in the crepe; it works. There's a slight spicy kick, too. It came with a side of sour cream, which added another layer of flavor. The sourness of the sour cream highlights the beef flavor. One order is enough for two people. Nice art work on the walls. Simple dining area. Food took about 15 minutes.
