My wife and I stopped here after a week in the Poconos looking for a salad for lunch. OMG ! This place was amazing. I am 68 years old and I've never gotten full on a salad until today. The salads for one was huge, but they were also delicious. I didn't realize how huge the salads were so I ordered a bowl of there homemade soup. The soup was equally delicious. To top that off they bake their own bread. Needless to say the bread was delicious. My only question is why can't more restaurants make the extra effort like this place does. I'd like to add the the staff were so pleasant and always had a smile on their face. P.s. I saw some of the sandwiches going around and they were huge. I definitely love eggplant, so when I first drove by Undercover Eggplant, I had to try it. They sell mostly sandwiches. I think 3 or 4 of the sandwiches feature eggplant and I approve of all. They also feature sandwiches with deli meats, cheeses, sausages, etc. All of the ingredients are fresh. The bread makes the sandwiches awesome. They use huge slices from nice crusty round loaves. Most likely, a whole sandwich will be too big for you and you will take 1/2 home with you. Pasta salad comes w/ the sandwiches. Tons of nice sodas/drinks to choose from - this is the type of feature that I love in a sandwich shop. Stopped in for lunch today and was very impressed. The sandwiches are made on good quality bread. The cuban was a little different from what we see in south Florida, but the quality and flavor was really good. (its not pressed on cuban bread, but served on a fresh white mountain style bread) The BLT was huge (whats the deal with giant BLT sandwiches in upstate New York? not complaining, just sayin') and very delicious. The Antonio salad was a great mix of greens, Italian deli meats, roasted red peppers, olives, tomato, cuke, carrot, red onion and a delicious balsamic vinaigrette. This is a great lunch spot, but they are open until 7pm. You walk up, order and pick up, no table service here. But the quality is totally worth it. read more

Went here after a visit to Oneonta to grab a quick lunch. The inside is really nice and there's lots of seating. Bathrooms are very clean. Menu is decent size and there's lots of vegetarian/vegan options. Lot of sodas/seltzers/and teas to choose from to drink. I had a salad and the portion was large. i normally love this place and one of the places I frequent every time I come to town and my complaint isn't about the food. When I go to a restaurant I expect kindness friendly staff other wise I will not go there ever again. I came in on Thursday and felt there was no urgency to help me chit chatting with other people instead of taking my order. The worst person to ever work in that restaurant gave me my food didn't smile nothin. Fresh baked bread with mouth-watering deli meats and delicious pickles. These sandwiches are the best I have tasted. EVER. The New-York Pastrami sandwich and the Roast Beef sandwiches are amazing. The sides are pretty good and the assortment of drinks for sale includes some unique finds (like Grown Up Soda). It's a bit off the beaten path from central Oneonta, but it's worth the trip. The Mister & I are from out of town, but like to go on mini road trips on weekends. We've been eyeing the place, but somehow they've always been closed when we were driving by. The Mister is a chef with 30+ years of experience, and so dines out with a fairly critical eye towards all aspects of the experience & the first thing he said when he got up this morning was how he wants to go back today! The food was delicious, creative without being too wild or pretentious, and the servings are definitely big enough to share. The Mister doesn't usually eat creamy-type pasta salads, but ate every bite! We both had sandwiches & split a dessert, but in the parking lot as we left, we were already planning what we would have next time, since there are also soups, pizzas & salads to sample. This is my all-time favorite, go-to lunch place! The Undercover Eggplant Deli is simply put, THE areas BEST place to eat. Sandwiches, salads, soups, pizza, quiche, desserts, side salads, Italian pretzels... All amazing! A couple of my favorites are: Sandwich: The Louisiana Locksmith (Hot fried eggplant and cold ham together with all the trimmings on that fresh baked bread... YUMMY!) Pizza: The creamy garlic eggplant, which is like nothing I've ever had before and sooooo good! Soup: There's no way I could possibly pick a favorite soup. There are just too many of them and they always rotate. -They do give a free sample of any soup though, so be sure to ask for one! I've tried two kinds of quiche and both were very good. Salad: Depending on my mood, the blackened chicken or salad Antonio Side salads: I'm a big fan of the potato salad and the couscous salad Desserts: The bread pudding is divine and my all time favorite, however the cheesecake is a close second.
